Church to protest against action on Tamil Nadu NGO accused of torturing and harvesting organs of elderly

The Catholic church and Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council are reported to have been planning a protest against the action being taken against various Christian hospices including the infamous St. Joseph’s Hospice which has been accused of harvesting the bones and organs of the elderly.

As reported by us, it was alleged that the NGO allegedly used to beat its sick inmates and used their dead bodies for harvesting bones. It was also alleged that it was involved in harvesting organs of its inmates and selling it to other countries.

After the allegations came out, the process was initiated to shift senior citizens “sheltered” there and it was claimed that the hospice would be shut down. The main reason given for the same was that the Hospice was operating without a licence.

As reported in The Hindu, The Catholic Church and Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council have decided to stand by the Christian NGO St. Joseph’s Hospice and its founder Father R. V. Thomas, days after the NGO was reported to be on the verge of closing. During the process of backing the Hospice, Rev. Fr. S.J. Anthonysamy who is the vicar general Madras Mylapore’s Archdiocese requested priests to inform their parishes during Sunday march regarding the protest. This included asking the priests to encourage their parishioners to participate in the protest.

This protest was supposed to be held on Monday near the State Guest House at Chepauk, Chennai, and was being jointly organised with the Diocese of Chingleput. The deputy secretary of general of Tamil Nadu Bishops council claimed that Father R. V. Thomas was doing humanitarian work and there was a need for the “truth” to come out.

A Pioneer report which has also reported regarding the matter has claimed that the Tamil Nadu government has cracked down on other such unauthorised institutions, which has resulted in the Catholic church and Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council taking objection. This as per the report, was the Church’s first protest march since 2002, when they had opposed an anti-religious conversion law.

What Congress needs to learn from Himanta Biswa Sarma, the humble political giant

0

Himanta Biswa Sarma has found a place on my list of favourite politicians. The reason for saying so is not solely because of the kind of giant killer he has been for Congress party in the Northeastern region of India. He is a nice guy who stood up for himself in the face of dynastic arrogance and now, he is doing a great service to the Northeast region and BJP by helping to bring BJP/ NDA governments in a matter of 2 years since he became the convenor of NEDA (North-East Democratic Alliance). I may not be alone in my admiration for this man. The fact this tweet has received 105K retweets may be an indicator of his current popularity.

Master-Servant relationship is not a going to work for long in Indian democracy

In an interview to NDTV, Mr Sarma told Barkha Dutt in unequivocal terms about what he felt when he interacted with Rahul Gandhi. The remarks made by him reveal another face of the Dynastic Prince. He says that Rahul Gandhi can be approached only with a master-servant dynamics and that is disgusting (see 6:30 onward).

He also said that his interaction with Amit Shah was far better as he felt that the BJP president was keenly noting what was being told to him. Clearly, a master-servant relationship is not suitable for running a political party in a competitive democracy.

Dynasty has to be discarded if Congress has to survive

In yet another interview to NDTV, he said that Rahul Gandhi is a feudalist and a dynast. While conceding that dynasty may exist in one form or the other in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha he asked whether a common party worker in Congress can become a president. He contrasted the situation in BJP where Amit Shah and Narendra Modi had risen to the top.

Sarma made a prediction that dynasty would not end even after 1000 years in Congress party. Clearly, Congress needs to address the ‘dynasty’ issue if it has to retain worthy politicians like Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Contact with ground realities is a must

In an interview to Republic TV, he predicted that the BJP would get around 40 seats in Tripura well before the TV channels could get a hold of the trends. In addition to this, he made an interesting remark (see 4:15 onwards) that Tripura had moved from the left to right in a single shot without an intermediary phase of centre in terms of the political shift in elections. This demonstrates, that he, unlike Congress leadership has close contact with grassroots and political acumen.

Political parties are not rulers, they are service providers in a democracy

In addition to the sense of self-respect he has, Mr Sarma is not arrogant even when he is provoked. When Rajdeep Sardesai said that NDA was winning because of money power he plainly told that Northeast people are not cheap and can’t be brought over with money. He went on to compare the political shift in the Northeast to the way in which a consumer moves to a different airline service provider if he/she is not satisfied with an existing one (see 3:50 onwards ).

This drives home an important point. Political parties are similar to a service provider in a democracy. If service is not good, consumers and employees could desert any organisation.

In the coming years, I see Himanta Biswa Sarma rising in the pecking order of the BJP setup. He has engineered the NDA shift in the north east region and his success is likely to be rewarded by the party in future. Congress’ loss was BJP’s gain. This man and the kind of punishment he has given to arrogance of Rahul Gandhi should serve as a lesson for Congress.

Karti Chidambaram’s brazen and arrogant celebratory gestures while in CBI custody, has people in splits

Karti Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram was recently taken into custody by the CBI for his alleged involvement in the INX Media scam owing to a scathing FIR against him filed by CBI last year that accuses him of money laundering and accepting bribes along with influencing public officials. But the father-son duo has been brazen about their alleged involvement.

Recently, following the footsteps of Rahul Gandhi, Karti Chidambaram has displayed his exceptional intelligence as he appeared to be in a celebratory mood as he remained in the custody of the CBI. Social Media was in splits cracking witty jokes at the hilarity of the pictures that emerged.

Shiv Aroor, the journalist with India Today, mocked Karti for acting as like a freedom fighter who had just scored an amazing victory over his oppressors.

Others compared him to bowlers celebrating after taking a wicket.

Some wondered why the son of a Congress stalwart was behaving in such a manner.

Yet others poked fun at Karti in their own ways.

After Lalu Prasad Yadav who went on a tweeting spree after his arrest, now it’s Karti Chidambaram who has amazed people on social media by his sheer brazenness after his arrest. Instead of awarding the matter the seriousness that it deserves, P Chidambaram’s son seems to be under the impression he is enjoying a free vacation at an exotic resort.

TMC MP Derek O’Brien claims his party has taken up a challenge to dethrone Modi in 2019, gets lampooned

0

TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien who in the past had defamed twitter users in the upper house has now managed to get lampooned by users of the microblogging platform, Twitter. Merely days after the BJP, not only notched a historic victory in Tripura and Nagaland but also managed to stitch together an alliance in Meghalaya despite Congress being the single largest party, Derek was quoted by the ANI as saying that TMC and all other opposition parties had taken up a challenge to dethrone PM Modi in 2019:

As seen above, he is quoted as claiming that PM Modi would deliver his final Red Fort speech in 2018 and owing to the “writing on the wall” insinuated that Modi won’t be the PM for a second term in 2019. This he claimed was a challenge taken up by the TMC and all other opposition parties.

Such a statement which came merely a day after the BJP asserted its dominance in the North-Eastern politics, puzzled various twitter users considering the saffron party looks stronger than it has ever before.

Some Twitter users decided to outright accept the challenge:

A few proceeded to lampoon him for his statement:

With the communist bastion of Tripura falling on Saturday, the major state’s which continue to remain fiercely anti-BJP are Kerala, Karnataka and West Bengal. This raises the question whether TMC and others have indeed decided to step up their game to try and halt the BJP juggernaut or whether Derek’s statement is merely an effort to try and sooth the jittery nerves of the opposition.

Congress and the Left are brothers in arms with their edifice of lies being demolished by the saffron clads

0

Jairam Ramesh of the Congress Party commiserated with the CPI(M) over its defeat in Tripura and stated that the nation cannot afford the demise of the Left. There is, of course, a long history of camaraderie between the two parties and as both of them continue to suffer electorally with the rise of Hindutva, they are finally coming out of the closet regarding their relationship as they both are currently faced with an existential threat. Sumanta Banerjee, the historian and civil rights activist has stated that the Left must team up with Congress to save democracy and that a win for the BJP in 2019 would spell the end of democracy in the country.

All this while, the Congress and the Left has been engaged in a game of shadow-boxing. Sunil Deodhar, the architect of BJP’s victory in Tripura, was correct when he pointed out that the Congress did not really make any serious attempt to dislodge the communist party from the North-Eastern state as they required the Left’s support at the Center. In the last West Bengal Assembly Elections, the Congress did ally with CPI(M) against Mamata Banerjee. And as the dark night approaches, it looks increasingly likely that they will fight the polls together in the General Elections 2019.

The Congress and the Left are indeed natural allies. Ideologically, there is hardly any difference between the two and they wouldn’t have to compromise one bit on the ideological front to tie up with each other. It was Indira Gandhi after all who seceded the intellectual space entirely to the communists. The Communists, on the other hand, did support her Emergency. It is a consequence of Indira Gandhi’s politics that the entire academia has been occupied by Leftist historians. In return, our historians painted the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty in golden colours and whitewashed entirely the atrocities committed against Hindus to uphold the ‘secular fabric’ of the country; a euphemism for minority appeasement and denial of the genocide of Hindus that is of paramount importance to both parties.

The Communists and the Congress have been traditional allies for decades. The communist intellectuals, after all, have prospered under the patronage of the Congress Party. And the Congress has much to be thankful for as well. For it is because of Marxist historians that the sins of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty have largely escaped any critic until now and an image has been created in the minds of the youth that the history of the Indian struggle for independence does not exist beyond the Indian National Congress. In his book, Eminent Historians, Arun Shourie elaborated on how the Left distorted history to fit its ideological narrative and toyed with facts to suit its whim. The Congress nurtured intellectuals to provide legitimacy to its existence post-independence and all the intellectuals it nurtured to further its agenda happened to be communists.

Leftist historians have denied the thousands of years of existence of the Hindu civilization in their works and conjured the myth that India as a nation was born on the 15th of August, 1947, in stark contrast to the truth which is that India is an avatar of the Hindu Civilization in a world dominated by nation-states. All of this naturally benefited Congress as they were given sole credit for the creation of the Indian state while the contribution of a million other freedom fighters was overlooked. Thus, Communists worked hard for their patrons and created the narrative that Congress was integral to the identity of the Indian nation.

Another narrative that the Congress and the Communists collaborated closely to create is the ‘Idea of India’. The much vaulted ‘Idea of India’ is ‘doublespeak’ for a nation that does not believe it existed before 1947, fosters communal harmony by engaging in genocide denial of Hindus, whitewashes the crimes of murderous savages and of course, substitutes Dharma in the lives of Indians with imported Western ideals such as Communism and Secularism and Socialism. It is, indeed, quite easy to see how the interests of the Left and Congress coincide quite extraordinarily when one explores the truth of the ‘Idea of India’.

The Congress and the CPI(M) are also united by a common enemy: Hindutva. Ever since the independence of our nation, the Congress has really had one eternal and formidable enemy. And naturally, for the Left as well, the glorious history of Hindus that Hindutva propagates is a major critic of the Left’s monolithic version of History as an eternal struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeois. Therefore, both the Congress and the CPI(M) knew the enemy had to be contained. Also, both the parties were inspired by western ideals while Hindutva cherishes Indic values. Therefore, followers of imported ideologies find it mutually beneficial to gang up against Indics.

To put it rather bluntly, the Congress and the Left are part of the same establishment, the establishment that has brainwashed the minds of generations of youth and treated the nation as its personal Jagir. As is obvious, the squabble between two factions of the same establishment can only last till both are threatened with obliteration by an enemy from outside the establishment. Now that Kesariya is flourishing across Bharata again, it’s time for the Congress and the Left to forget their minor differences and present a united front against the BJP. Their collaboration over the years has resulted in generations of ignorant youth who are unaware of the sacrifice of their ancestors and the glorious history of our land. However, Dharma is so ingrained in the culture of this great nation that despite their desperate attempts, they have largely been unsuccessful.

In a previous article of mine, I had highlighted the Culture War that is currently in progress in our country. And in the culture war, one faction has been created and nurtured by the establishment over decades while the other is the traditional Hindu society that has thrived for thousands and thousands of years. Lines have been drawn and forces have marched into battle. When the establishment cries that Democracy is under threat, it is merely a euphemism for their receding influence in electoral politics. When the establishment cries that the ‘Idea of India’ is under threat, it is merely indicative of the fact that the edifice of lies that it has built over the years is beginning to crumble to dust. The mutually beneficial mythical narrative about the History of India that the Communists and the Congress have worked so hard to build is falling apart like a pack of cards. Desperate times call for desperate measures and it is only natural that the two factions of the establishment based on Western ideals is rushing to each other’s aid in a time of crisis.

Government orders CBI probe into the SSC Paper Leak Scandal

The central government has stated that they have taken the protesting aspirant’s demands into consideration and ordered CBI inquiry on the alleged paper leak incidents in the SSC Combined Graduate Level (Tier II) examinations.

The Minister, according to reports, stated that as the government has ordered CBI probe into the matter, the aspirants should now call off their protests. But the aspirants protesting before the office of the SSC in Delhi stated that they will continue the protests till they see a proper format and be certain that all their demands are being fulfilled or not.

On Sunday social activist Anna Hazare had met the students and extended his support to them. Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has also spent an hour among the protesters and later had met with the Union Home Minister. He had assured that the central government will conduct appropriate investigations into the matter.

Nearly 190,000 candidates had appeared for the SSC CGL (Tier II) exams. On 17 February, the exam had to be cancelled after reports broke out that in a Delhi exam centre, paper chits with answers written were found in a toilet. In Bhopal too several aspirants had reported that some of the questions already had answers marked on them. Hundreds of aspirants have been protesting outside the SSC’s office at CGO complex in Delhi for the past week.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had earlier tweeted that he has spoken with MoS Jeetendra Singh and he has promised a fair investigation into the matter.

There were reports circulating on the social media that JNU student Shehla Rashid went to the venue of the protest to extend her support which was rejected by the protesting aspirants and she had to leave the venue.

A detailed investigation is expected to expose the corrupt officials involved in the alleged scam.

With Karnataka elections fast approaching, CM Siddaramaiah starts inaugurating incomplete projects

The assembly elections in Karnataka expected to be held in May this year, seem to have thrown the state’s Chief Minister in a bit of a hurry. As reported, Congress leader Siddaramaiah has started to inaugurate incomplete projects in Bangalore, which some might dub as an attempt to give the public a false sense of development.

As reported, Siddaramaiah went on an inauguration spree in Sunday covering the city’s areas like Mylanahalli, KR Puram, Magadi Road and HSR Layout. The inaugurated projects included, “alternate road to KIA at “Mylanahalli”, “Bagalur lake’s development work”, “Hennur junction flyover”, “revamped Agara lake in HSR”, “Swabhimana tree park in HSR layout”.

The reports have claimed that all the above projects are incomplete apart from the Swabhimana tree park which is almost ready.

When it comes to the alternate road to the Kempegowda international airport, 50% of it needs asphalting and widening. Some cable work too is incomplete. As per additional chief secretary M Lakshminarayan, it would be ready in a week. The Hennur flyover still needs another layer of tarring and isn’t yet open to the public.

Incidentally, Siddaramaiah had embarked on a similar incomplete project inauguration spree last Thursday when he inaugurated a multi-level parking facility and the first phase of Okalipuram signal-free corridor.

Turns out that as per MLA Suresh Kumar, the inauguration of the eight-lane signal-free corridor should have been postponed until the concrete properly dried up. When it comes to the multi-level parking facility at Freedom Park, its capacity is pegged to be 580 four-wheelers and 500 two-wheelers. But it was inaugurated so prematurely that the current facility open for public use is a mere 34 for four-wheelers and 50 for two-wheelers.

Incidentally, the inauguration of incomplete projects was also seen in case of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh was accused of inaugurating various far from complete projects like Lucknow-Agra expressway, Gomti riverfront and Chief Minister’s Secretariat before the model code of conduct kicked in ahead of UP assembly polls.

Furore in Kashmir after govt shifts two prominent terrorists away from their ‘paradise’

Two prominent prisoners held in Srinagar’s Central Jail over terrorism charges were shifted to jails in Jammu on Saturday. This has angered separatists who have since then called for a shutdown in the valley to protest against this move. The two prisoners in question are, Qasim Faktoo and Shafi Shareati.

Qasim Faktoo the husband of prominent separatist leader Asiya Andrabi, has been accused of killing Human Rights activist Hriday Nath Wanchoo in 1992. He has since then been awarded life imprisonment in this matter by the Supreme Court. Shafi Shareati, on the other hand, has seen his name featured as a Jamiatul Mujahideen functionary and has been alleged to be very close to Nasirul Islam, a former head of Hizbul Mujahideen.

As per reports, the shifting of the duo was confirmed by Director general of police SP Vaid, who called this exercise to be in accordance with the state government’s order.

This shifting comes in the light of LeT commander Naveed Jhatt’s escape from a Srinagar hospital while he was being ‘treated’. Post the exercise, 40 other prisoners have also seen themselves shifted to outside prisons.

The Srinagar Central jail, the former abode of Faktoo and Shareati, about a month back was exposed as being a “paradise for terrorists”. The report alleged that the prison inmates enjoyed the possession of smartphones and were eating well thanks to Kashmiri mutton delicacies like wazwan. It was alleged that rules were openly flouted, without much intervention by the authorities.

The flouting included Qasim Faktu regularly giving a press release and another top terrorist getting visited by hoards of devotees who considered him to be some form of a godman. The use of mobiles from inside the jail was so prominent that, allegations have been made about it being the main hub of orchestrating the 2010 valley unrest.

Predictably, the shifting of the two terrorists from this supposedly comfortably jail has angered the state’s Joint Resistance Leadership comprising of separatists like Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who have called for a “Bandh” on Wednesday against this move. Separatist Aasiya Andrabi has come out in full support of her husband by calling this shifting as illegal and barbaric.

Interestingly, the duo is also getting support from mainstream politicians like MLA Engineer Rashid who condemned the move and called it inhuman. Rashid had earlier landed in another controversy when he was questioned by the NIA regarding its terror funding probe.

Dishonest intellectual ecosystem denying Modi credit for spectacular GST implementation

With India’s Q3 GDP number coming in at a swashbuckling 7.2%, Modi’s India has clawed back to its position as the world’s fastest-growing economy.

Untitled.png

Following these numbers, the ecosystem has begun the usual debate that follows the release of every batch of GDP figures. Will the numbers hold? Are the figures reliable? Will the good news get better going forward or not? And above all, is the economy “out of the woods” after the “twin shocks” of Demonetization and GST?

Lost in this debate is the sight of the fact that the dishonesty of India’s intellectual elite has been thoroughly exposed by India’s latest GDP data. First of all, how is GST supposed to be a “shock” to the economy? The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was widely seen as the crown jewel of economic reforms for over a decade. History will remember that Narendra Modi was the Prime Minister who enacted and implemented this greatest of tax reforms.

But just because Narendra Modi succeeded where all his predecessors had failed, including “great economist” Dr Manmohan Singh, the GST suddenly went from being called a “reform” to a “shock.” The intellectual dishonesty of our elite could not be more obvious.

Unable to attack the premise of GST itself, the experts have mostly focused their criticism on the supposedly “flawed implementation” of GST. Let’s look at the headline numbers here (remember that GST came into effect on July 1, 2017).

GDP Q1 (Apr 1 — Jun 30, 2017): 5.7%

GDP Q2 (Jul 1 — Sep 30, 2017) : 6.3%

GDP Q3 (Oct 1 — Dec 31, 2017) : 7.2%

So, the Indian economy slowed down to 5.7% for the 3 months before GST was to come into effect. If the tax structure is going to change in less than 3 months, any business would slow down and wait. Is there much that the government could have done about that? Then, once the new rules come into effect, people get back to business immediately and we see a little jump from 5.7% to 6.3%.

And in the 3 months after that, the economy roars at 7.2%, the highest among major economies in the world.

That’s all: Six months to implement the greatest tax reform since independence. Just six months.

This is a country where the foundation stone of Sardar Sarovar Dam was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1961 and work did not even begin until 1979. This is a country where Nehru created a commission in the 1960s to look into the construction of a Railway Bridge over the Ganga near Ghazipur in Eastern UP. But the foundation stone for the bridge was laid by Narendra Modi in late 2016.

In the same country, Narendra Modi has taken just six months to implement the greatest tax reform since independence. Dear experts, tell us now: was it too much? Were six months too long?

What ‘flawed implementation of GST’ were they talking about? How many months of disruption would you have allowed for a “perfect” implementation?

Right now, these “experts” are basically hiding under their desks and hoping nobody holds them accountable for all the ridiculous potshots they have taken at Modi’s GST. They are hoping people forget and move on. It is for us to hold these experts accountable. Otherwise, we will be forever stuck with an incompetent, lazy and compromised intelligentsia exercising much sway over public opinion.

I call it “Modi’s GST” because that is exactly what it is. The Prime Minister generously invited all parties to the launch of GST, giving them full credit in what was really a team effort and a national achievement. Dr Manmohan Singh was offered pride of place, but he declined. If nobody else was willing to share the risks, who else should take the credit?

It’s now Modi’s GST.

History will record that Modi got it done. And that Dr Manmohan Singh failed. History will also record that Dr Manmohan Singh could not muster the courage to show his face at the GST launch. That the Congress Party opted for petty politics at a watershed moment for economic reform in India.

History will also record that India’s academic and intellectual class was so dishonest, compromised, partisan, short-sighted and narrow-minded that they could not give Modi a six-month window to implement India’s greatest tax reform. Did they believe so strongly in Dr Singh’s view of “In the long run, we are all dead”? I am given to understand that Dr Singh had a distinguished career as a student. Was he so short-sighted that he never began studying six months before an important exam?

No, dear experts, GST is not a “shock” to the economy. Calling GST a “shock” is like saying that a student spending four years studying at IIT is a “career shock,” instead of looking for a job after finishing high school. And Narendra Modi has done supremely well in getting everything about GST has done in six months.

The only reason you don’t see Modi getting credit for this superb work on GST is because the entire intellectual class is compromised and partisan. But then, Modi is no stranger to this phenomenon. I request you to remember a time only about two years ago when the exit of Raghuram Rajan was announced. The experts even had a pompous name for it; they called it ‘Rexit’; implicitly drawing a comparison between Britain leaving the EU (Brexit) and one man leaving his job in India.

Close to 35 million people voted in the Brexit referendum. A momentous event that will shape geopolitics for decades to come.

But in the eyes of our intellectuals, that event is roughly in the same league as Raghuram Rajan leaving his job in India.   I repeat that just to give you an idea of the magnitude to which our intellectuals lost their sense of proportion. One expert famously predicted in the Economic Times that Raghuram Rajan’s departure might cause the Indian economy to lose as much as $100 billion, along with a collapse in the stock market and the Indian Rupee.

The fact that none of this actually happened never mattered. In fact, the reverse happened. But no contrition was ever expressed, explicitly or implicitly by our “experts.”  They just went hiding under their carpets, observing a strategic silence until their failures were forgotten. That’s always been their modus operandi. Lie big and run fast.

If any expert is reading this article, s/he is probably laughing at me saying things like “History will record this” or “History will record that.” Because guess what?

As GST and Rexit showed, experts may not control the facts, but they sure do control the record.

And they will use it.

If we the voting public do not revolt against the tyranny of compromised experts and show them their place, the next generation will read in their history books about how Dr Singh successfully implemented GST after Modi made a mess of it. Right next to the chapter on how Aurangazeb spent all his time rebuilding the temples that Chhatrapati Shivaji had destroyed.

Which influential politician did Karti Chidambaram allegedly transfer Rs 1.8 crore to?

Following Karti Chidambaram’s sensational arrest last week by CBI from Chennai, things have taken dramatic turns in the INX media probe. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the alleged money laundering case against Karti, has claimed that they have found details of him transferring Rs. 1.8 crore to the bank account of an ‘influential’ political figure.

Karti, who is the son of former Union Minister P Chidambaram, had allegedly transferred the said amount from his account in Chennai branch of Royal Bank of Scotland. Without indulging in the name of the recipient, the ED has claimed that the recipient of the said money has discharged very important responsibilities at the Centre in a career spanning decades. Meanwhile, Karti has moved the Supreme Court seeking to quash the summons issued by the ED.

Currently, the CBI is conducting the custodial interrogation of Karti, where he will stay till 6th March. The ED is seeking his custody once his CBI custody ends. As reported in Times of India, Karti allegedly made the transfers from his account (No. 397990) in RBS’s Chennai branch into the account of the senior political leader, raising suspicions of a possible nexus between them.

Meanwhile, social media started speculating on who the ‘influential’ politician who was the alleged recipient of the money was.

The scam-ridden father-son due have been under the scanner for their involvement in obtaining FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) approvals for INX media after allegedly receiving bribes through Advantage Strategic Consulting Pvt Limited, a firm controlled by Karti Chidambaram. Meanwhile, after the arrest, Karti has been allegedly throwing tantrums, like demanding to travel in business class instead of the economy and ordering food of his choice after being remanded for custody. After denying home food, Karti had allegedly demanded to order food from food apps, like Swiggy and Zomato.
