Former Bihar Congress chief calls his expulsion by Sonia Gandhi as “insulting”

0

Ashok Choudhary the erstwhile Bihar Congress President who on Tuesday was sacked from his post by party President Sonia Gandhi, has termed the expulsion as insulting.

He told the media that he welcomes the decision but he didn’t deserve the way he was insulted and expelled. He further stated that he didn’t want to leave the party but he doesn’t have a choice. This statement is interesting considering the fact that he only seems to have been removed from his post and not from the party.

Things also turned dramatic when he claimed that his expulsion was an insult to Dalits and also made various allegations against Congress General Secretary CP Joshi. He alleged that leaders like CP Joshi are present inside the Congress party who insult Dalits and also claimed that he would only resign after being directed to do so by Rahul Gandhi.

This whole expulsion episode seems to have been as a result of allegations against him and the leaders of his faction, that they made an unsuccessful bid to split the party, after Nitish Kumar walked out of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar.

We had reported that the Bihar Congress was on the verge of a split with 14 of the total 27 MLAs forming a internal group, in order to cross over to the JD(U). This manoeuvre then raised alarm bells in the Congress High Command, which had then summoned Ashok Choudhary and Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Sadanand Singh to New Delhi.

There it was also claimed that the differences had arisen in the party over the party leadership’s decision to wholeheartedly back Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Choudhary who was reported to be leading the rebel faction was appointed to the post on March 30, 2013 and was the longest serving president of the state Congress. The duties of Choudhary would now be executed by Kaukab Quadri the vice president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee until a new president is appointed.

It remains to be seen if this move which clearly seems to have been made quell dissent, really ends up achieving its purpose. It might so happen that the expulsion might prompt Choudhary to try and break the party with new vigour.

Choudhary in the past has also been in the news for a completely different reason. He was attacked by Smriti Irani on twitter who objected to him referring to her as “Dear @smritiirani ji”. This ensued a spat between them over the ethics of the usage of the word “Dear” which ended with him apologising to her if he had hurt her feelings in any way.

#ManishKaTheka campaign for failure of Delhi govt to close liquor shops near schools

0

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, in a series of tweets last week, had declared that all liquor stores within 100 metres proximity of schools, will be closed with immediate effect.

He also said actions would be taken against the officers who issued licence to them. As per norms, a liquor shop cannot function within 100 metres of a school.

However, some liquor shops still seem to be functioning as per AAP rebel leader Kapil Mishra.

He accused that even though more than a week has passed since Sisodia’s claims of shutting down the shops, the stores are still functioning.

Mishra immediately took to Twitter, a platform Kejriwal and his social media warriors have effectively used in the past to spread fake news and hurl filthy abuses even at each other over disagreements, to make Sisodia accountable.

He started the #ManishKaTheka campaign where he goes to operational liquor stores within 100 mtrs proximity of schools and puts banners changing the name to #ManishKaTheka (Manish’s Liquor Store).

And earlier today, Mishra with his supporters put up “Manish Da Theka” banners at liquor stores near schools.

It seems like the Delhi Chief Minister, who himself is a loose cannon when it comes to maintaining public decorum as a democratically elected leader, has found his match in Mishra.

Earlier, Mishra had posted a hilarious “Sonu” parody song through which he had trolled Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on his birthday, alleging scams and corruption on AAP government.

Neither Sisodia nor Kejriwal have responded to the #ManishKaTheka campaign yet.

BSF enhances border patrolling to prevent Rohingyas from entering India

0

The Central government, at least in its statements looks to have taken a tough stance on the whole Rohingya illegal immigration issue.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju had categorically stated that Rohingyas in India are illegal immigrants who need to be deported as per law. Apart from the aspect of existing Rohingya refugees, there’s another issue in this whole saga which is the entry of new Rohingya refugees into the Indian territory.

Regarding this matter too the Central government seems to have instructed the Border Security Force to identify vulnerable spots along the Indo-Bangladesh border and prevent their entry into Bengal. The IG of BSF (South Bengal) had back then stated that a clear mandate was given to them to act firmly against the Rohingyas.

On Friday, it was reported that India had stepped up its border security along the Indo-Bangladesh border and was using chilli and stun grenades to block their entry. A senior BSF official had stated that they didn’t want to inflict any serious injury to the Rohingyas but at the same time they (BSF) won’t tolerate them on Indian soil.

Now according to a report in The Hindu, the BSF has pushed back four Rohingyas who were trying to enter India via an unfenced border stretch in Tripura. The BSF according to the report, have identified 75 vulnerable locations along a 21 KM stretch in the region. 17 Rohingyas have this year been caught along the Assam-Tripura border and they were handed over to the police for further action.

The BSF reportedly identifies the Rohingyas on the basis of their dialect which is different from that spoken in India and Bangladesh.

The BSF has also reportedly acted in a similar manner in West Bengal. After enhancing patrolling along 22 vulnerable spots along the North 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, and Krishnanagar districts, the BSF officials question the Rohingyas (who try to pass themselves as Bangladeshis) whose Bengali accent then calls their bluff.

Of late, there have been reports about Rohingya terrorists killing Burmese Hindus with mass graves of victims being found, and it is suspected that some elements harbouring such radical feelings against non-Muslims could enter India proving to be a security threat. Some Hindu survivors have also recounted horrors of forceful religious conversions by Rohingyas in refugee camps of Bangladesh.

Congress Twitter handle goofs up, yet again

0

Congress social media team seems to be aiming for a record in self-goals. Earlier we had reported how their #KnowYourLegacy campaign got them trolled because of their goof-ups. Today, they posted an image paying tributes to Raja Ram Mohan Roy on his “death anniversary”:

Except, they have written the date of death (27th September, 1833) before date of birth (22nd May, 1772) which appears as if he was born on 27th September, 1833 and passed away on 22nd May, 1772 which is just not possible.

Few days back they had carried out another mistake for another leader, Yusuf Meherally, which they eventually deleted. They confused the birth anniversary with death anniversary then:

While they deleted the tweet later, Twitter was quick to joke about that.

How media allows incompetent ‘senior’ journalists to spread misinformation and lies

Veteran journalist Vrinda Gopinath, who has been associated with Left-leaning publications like Scroll and The Wire, in her recent piece on India Today’s DailyO, wrote how lines between “bombast” Modi and dynast Rahul Gandhi have blurred. In the article, she claims that Gandhi has been seen as worthy opponent to Modi and hence the “BJP’s reputation shredding machine” has worked relentlessly to “tatter the former’s credibility and capability as an entitled, privileged, but talentless and failed prince”. She then goes out to point how everything about Modi is wrong:

In her rush to showcase Prime Minister Modi as a toddler excited about his birthday, Gopinath forgot that Twitter shows bouncing balloons on profiles of everyone who has entered their date of birth in the profile. When her absurdity was pointed to her, she immediately lost her cool and started typing with caps-lock on!

One really struggles to comprehend why she brought in the VCs of JNU, BHU for her ignorance about how the ‘balloons bouncing’ for birthdays works on Twitter. In same paragraph, she had claimed that the schools were instructed to be open on Modi’s birthday which fell on a Sunday but the same was ‘hastily withdrawn after protests. In reality, the Uttar Pradesh Government had clarified that no such memo has been issued. Where does the withdrawal of notification come if no such notification was issued in the first place?

She then goes on to talk about how Bullet Train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is a waste of money.

This is completely untrue. The project is fully funded by the Japanese through a soft loan at an interest rate of 0.1% per annum. The repayment of the loan begins after 15 years which will be paid over 35 years. The low interest rate coupled with extended repayment period have addressed potential economic downsides in the project.

Then she talks about how Narendra Modi, as Gujarat Chief Minister, had “single-handedly” blocked GST:

Half knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially in hands of those who are prone to spread misinformation. It is a fact that many states had opposed the GST bill during the UPA rule. But were only BJP states opposing GST? Lies.

Even as late as December 2013, just 4 months before end of UPA’s 10 year rule, it was reported that the Congress-led ruling UDF government in Kerala has lent support to the Gujarat government’s apprehensions on GST. The Finance Minister of Kerala raised questions on numerous concepts under GST on which there was no consensus nor clarity.

Again in July 2013 it was reported that 3 non-BJP states had opposed a provision in the GST Bill. Which were these 3 states? Non-BJP ruled Tamil Nadu. Non-BJP ruled Orissa. And Congress ruled Maharashtra! So, while it is true that BJP led states were opposing GST fearing loss of revenue, even Congress ruled states were opposing. Why leave out that part of the information?

Then she writes this:

She states that the radio show of Prime Minister Modi “Mann Ki Baat” is a fortnightly broadcast, while in reality it is a monthly broadcast.

Expecting a “senior journalist” to be well-versed in facts in her opinion piece is not too much to ask for.

However, the issue here is how these media outlets provide their platform to such highly incompetent people to spread lies. Whatever happened to editing and fact-checking?

This is especially funny and tragic given the fact that most mainstream media outlets these days are trying to run down ordinary social media users as “fake news peddlers” if they share some misleading or wrong information, while they themselves have been doing it for ages.

To escape being blamed and shamed for their own fake news, most of these outlets have chosen to promote some cheerleaders as “fact checkers”, who ignore misinformation and propaganda pushed by such “senior journalists” and instead attack ordinary social media users and politicians of a particular party.

Firstpost publishes misleading headline using 2 year old sexual harassment data from UP

0

Look at this headline in this Sept 26, 2017 article published by Firstpost (in collaboration with IndiaSpend) and tell me what you think has happened:

A 33% rise in sexual harassment cases in Uttar Pradesh in the “past year”? And the data comes “as BHU students’ protest grabs national attention.”

This data could not have come at a worse time for the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. What a shame! Surely Yogi Adityanath’s government should take the blame for this.

Go ahead and admit it : it’s Yogi Adityanath’s fault.

What the headline from Firstpost doesn’t tell you however is that Yogi Adityanath’s only fault here is not owning a time machine. You know, so that he could go back into the past and stop the crimes that happened under Akhilesh Yadav’s secular government in Uttar Pradesh.

Here’s the rest of the article : you know, the part that appears in half the size of the headline.

Wonderful! The data for the “past year” is actually almost two years old, coming from 2014 and 2015.

It is not hard to imagine what purpose such a headline is designed for. A quick scroll through a Twitter or Facebook feed on a mobile phone and the headline is all that catches your eye. Perhaps before you move on to see how your friends are celebrating Navratri. There, in that brief second when you couldn’t be bothered to click on an article and read the fine print, your mind would have registered fake information.

And I am fairly sure  Firstpost & IndiaSpend are smart enough to know that.

Just look at this tweet from IndiaSpend:

Or see the banner headline on the IndiaSpend homepage:

The agenda is obvious, is it not?

This is why the left liberal ecosystem places such extreme emphasis on the flow of information. For example, everyone has heard by now about the shocking case of children dying in Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College. What you probably haven’t heard is this :

That’s right. The number of child deaths at Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College has dropped drastically this year. From an average of 4095 deaths in the Jan-Aug period to 1285 deaths, a decrease of nearly 70%.

That’s the data journalism we never got to see. Because we all understand the agendas involved. Incidentally, “data journalism” is what IndiaSpend claims to do.

But wait, maybe India Spend can do some “data journalism” on deaths of children in Gorakhpur after all. Notice how the number of deaths in BRD Medical College rose from 3828 in 2014 to 4601 in 2015?

“20% rise in child deaths at Gorakhpur BRD hospital in past year” : Now that is a headline just waiting to happen as far as Firstpost and Indiaspend are concerned. What do you think?

The headlines that were not – how The Hindu is consumed by agenda peddling

0

It is no secret that the Indian political landscape has gone through an immense transformation in the past three years. The 2014 elections changed the landscape of Indian polity with Congress being reduced to 44 seats and the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi coming to power with a swooping, brute majority.

While a majority government works well for administration, one drawback could be the shrinking space of political opposition with no credible party or leader posing an immediate opposition to not only the BJP, but also Narendra Modi.

In the event of a political landscape with fragmented opposition, it is widely believed that the Media, which is inherently meant to be anti-establishment, plays the role of the principal opposition, with factual rebuttals and piercing questions, every time the Government tries to hoodwink the citizenry.

For the Media to be truly anti-establishment, it must have a flavor of brutal honesty and an indomitable commitment to not only intellectual and editorial integrity but also an unwavering sense of commitment to the interests of the nation and her people.

However, the travesty of Indian Media is that their sense of commitment lies largely in advocating a particular ideology, or rather, in hating a particular ideology. Over decades, their revulsion to this particular ideology — of Hindu nationalism — has morphed into revulsion for everything Hindu, including the people.

The media in India is more anti-Hindutva than anti-establishment. In fact, the Indian media is a part of the deep establishment — shaped by decades of Congress governments — which is equally allergic to everything Hindu.

With a Prime Minister who unapologetically calls himself a Hindu Nationalist, this hatred for Hindutva can be nicely camouflaged as being anti-establishment, for the government in office is generally considered to be defining the establishment of the day. However, this hatred is so strong that it is now attacking the ‘nationalism’ itself and not just ‘Hindu nationalism’. Being pro-India itself is now an anathema for many in the establishment media.

The most recent example of this was seen after the speeches of First Secretary in the permanent mission of India to the UN, Enaam Gambhir and Minister of External Affairs (EMA) Sushma Swaraj ripped every shed of lie peddled by the Pakistani Prime Minister and their ambassador. India made her stand against Pakistan amply clear stating how Pakistan had become a geography synonymous with terror and how the quest for the land of pure has actually produced a land of pure terror — Terroristan. MEA Sushma Swaraj went as far as to compare how the two nations had different growth trajectories. India, an IT superpower, and Pakistan, a terror hub.

While the citizenry celebrated India’s remarkably stronger stand against Pakistan, a section of the media fraternity got caught up in furthering Pakistan’s agenda. One of the glaring examples was how the left-leaning newspaper The Hindu chose to handle the subject.

Their first article on the matter got published on the 23rd of September 2017, on the front page no less. The day when India christened Pakistan as ‘Terroristan’, The Hindu front page headline read “Strident Pakistan presses for UN envoy to Kashmir”. This while Enaam Gambhir made some excellent points in response to the rambling of the Pakistani Prime Minister, the most important being the ‘leader’ of the UN designated terror organization, Hafiz Saeed, was sought to be legitimized by Pakistan as a leader of a political party.

While the contents of the article covered the speeches of Pakistan Prime Minister, Abbasi, and Indian Diplomat, it was striking that the headline focused on Pakistan’s response, specifically, with its age old muttering about the UN envoy into Kashmir. It was also interesting that perhaps the most important part of Enaam Gambhir’s speech about Hafiz Saeed leading a political party, was conspicuously absent. An inadvertent error, perhaps? But a little difficult to believe considering Pakistan’s side of the argument was covered in great detail.

Here are some Headlines that The Hindu could have gone with:

  • “India slams Terroristan”
  • “India calls out Terroristan for legitimizing Hafiz Saeed”
  • “Pakistan red faced after India questions Hafiz Saeed leading a political party”
  • “Pakistan has become a geography synonymous with terror” : Enaam Gambhir slams Pakistan

Now let us see what happened on 24th September 2017. On this day, EAM Sushma Swaraj delivered a crippling blow to every argument peddled by Pakistan.

In her 22 minutes long speech, Swaraj not only elucidated the stellar work of development India had undertaken over the decades, but also spoke about how the Indian hand of friendship had rejected by Pakistan and how, while India progressed, Pakistan became a hub of terrorism.

The Hindu wrapped up the Minister’s 22 minutes speech in a 165 words article.

The piece was discarded to the bottom corner of the front page and some obscure story about the longest saree in Sri Lanka was given more space than India’s official stand at the UNGA.

Again, here are some Headlines that The Hindu could have gone with (on the front page)

  • “Sushma Swaraj delivers a crippling blow to Pakistan at the UNGA”
  • “India’s decisively stronger stand against Pakistan at the UNGA”
  • “We made IITs and IIMs, Pakistan made terror camps”

That’s not all. Now let’s move to 25th September 2017.

While the entire country was busy calling out the Pakistan UN envoys gaffe of holding up a Gazan woman’s pellet ridden face to pass it off as “Atrocity in Kashmir”, The Hindu had different plans. On the front page, a glaring headline read “UN must call upon India to halt provocations, says Pakistan”, with an accompanying photograph of Maleeha Lodhi holding up the Gazan woman’s photograph.

In a 350 something worded article, The Hindu carried every lie peddled by Pakistan against India. From the “Muslims under attack” narrative to the blatant war mongering by Pakistan to their hollow claims about Jammu and Kashmir.

Right next to the main article, I tiny sidebar read “Pak envoy commits a gaffe”. Editorial decisions pertaining to which Headline should be the main headline, prominently displayed, as a main story, and which headline should appear as a sidebar, are generally based on the order of priority, which in turn depends on the importance of the story. It is then logical to assume that ‘The Hindu perhaps felt that the Pakistani lies would contribute more to the national discourse than the fact that they had wrongly accused India and committed a serious gaffe for which they may face consequences.

The fact that “Pakistan envoy commits gaffe” wasn’t the main headline, accompanied by a comparative graphic that placed the source of the Gazan woman’s picture and Ms. Lodhi holding up the same picture as “atrocities in Kashmir”, goes to show the subtle tools deployed by ‘The Hindu’ to peddle their agenda.

Here are some headline options that The Hindu could have gone with :

  • “Pakistan lies. Again”
  • “Pakistan shenanigans in response to India’s facts”

Story is still not over. Let us check what happened on 26th September 2017 i.e. today’s newspaper.

One would imagine, that when India exercised its right to respond and called out Lodhi’s atrocious lies, The Hindu would, equally fervently, carry that article on its front page. To my chagrin, the tiny article titled “India counters Pakistan narrative”, appeared on the 10th page.

While the fact that Pakistan’s lie made it to the front page, and India’s truth made it to the 10th is atrocious in itself, that The Hindu called misrepresentation by Lodhi at the UNGA mere ‘narrative’ is a travesty of mammoth proportions. Lodhi held up a victim of the Palestinian conflict and tried to pass it off as the atrocities committed by the Indian state in Kashmir. Calling it a ‘narrative’ and not ‘blatant misrepresentation and lies’ was perhaps an editorial decision that was questionable to say the least.

Remember, The Hindu has carried articles, such as this, blasting people when someone from the government of India has ended up using a wrong representational image (and which was deleted after officials realized the mistake), but it didn’t think there was any need to blast Pakistan.

What did find space on the front page, apart from the articles about Saubhagya scheme launched by the Prime Minister and acquittal of Mahmood Farooqui, was an article titled “Human shield was wrongful confinement”.

Here are some Headlines that The Hindu should could have gone with (in the front page):

  • “India calls out Pakistan’s blatant lie”
  • “Pakistan ambassador caught on the wrong foot”
  • “India tears into Pakistani lies, yet again”

It is at times like these one questions not only the integrity of the media, but also their skewed priorities. In an environment where India is flexing its muscles against a state sponsor of terror that regularly sends Kalashnikov wielding terrorists to compromise our sovereignty, it wont be far from the truth if I say that The Hindu’s editorial decisions have been questionable.

It would be unbelievable if this is written off as an oversight. Editorial decisions are far more thought out. It would be unfathomable if it is said that the Editors of The Hindu didn’t understand the ramifications of the placement of articles specially when it concerns national discourse.

Once we eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be considered the truth. In this case, what remains, is writing off this editorial stand of The Hindu, as a shameful attempt at being anti-establishment by incontrovertibly, being anti-India.

(h/t to S Sudhir Kumar for spotting this chicanery of The Hindu. You can read his article on the same issue on MyIndMakers)

Rahul Gandhi caught lying in a speech in Gujarat

Congress scion Rahul Gandhi has a penchant for fake news. In 2015, Rahul had estimated the cost of Modi’s suit to be Rs 10 lakhs, in one of his speeches, which was pure lie. This had then become a statement of fact for all his sycophants. Today, he has added one more lie to his repertoire.

This lie shows that not only is Rahul Gandhi not updated with the facts, but even his lies are extremely outdated and well-debunked. Almost 2 years ago, in October 2015, in a rather sensational news break, Outlook claimed that L&T, had given the work of constructing the statue to a Chinese Foundry. The article mocked Modi’s “Make in India” campaign, by branding the Patel statue as “Made in China”.

We at OpIndia.com had debunked this story then and there itself. An L & T spokesperson, had outright denied the story:

The statue obviously will be built at the site itself at Sadhu Bet (near the Sardar Sarovar Dam). This is not just a statue; it is a memorial. It cannot just be shipped in from somewhere. It will be constructed at workshops which we will create. The foundry and workshops will be created close by.

Since media reports kept quoting Outlook.com, L&T had to issue another statement to clarify the position:

The entire statue itself is being built in India at the site and only the bronze cladding in the form of bronze plates is being sourced from China, which constitutes a negligible amount of less than 9% of the total value of project

In spite of all this, Rahul Gandhi repeated this lie today at a speech in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region:

Worse, he even went on to tell the audience, mostly consisting of villagers, that this will lead to employment in China and not in Gujarat or India. The statement can be viewed here:

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2HfzBBxgXk]

So not only he repeated a lie, he made absurd arguments based on that lie. Rahul Gandhi has recently come back to form, with a series of gaffes. Was this a “gaffe” or a deliberate lie? Will the mainstream media call out this lie?

Hindu boy and Muslim girl kill themselves after girl’s marriage was fixed to someone else

0

A love story between a boy and a girl came to a tragic end after their bodies were found hanging from a tree outside their village. The incident, which appears to be a suicide, has come to light from the Tamarsepur village in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.

The bodies which were discovered by passersby on Monday morning at a field owned by a certain Ramshankar, caused panic in the region which later turned into communal unease, after the villagers discovered that the couple belonged to different religions. The police took possession and sent the bodies to a postmortem after being notified of the matter.

According to the ASP Shashikant Tiwari, the couple had first tried to use a coconut rope to hang themselves which broke into two. Thus they reportedly used the girl’s dupatta to get the job done.

The couple have been identified as Amit and Shehar Bano. Owing to the matter being linked to two communities, a police force from 3 police stations have been deployed in the region to maintain peace.

The motive behind the possible suicide seems to be the fact that the girl’s marriage was fixed to someone else and was scheduled to take place in November. The police would be launching a serious investigation into the matter.

The family of the boy which comprises of his parents and two sisters have alleged that he was murdered but haven’t filed any written comment with the police in this regard.

The boy had reportedly worked for a long time in Gorakhpur but had returned back home after falling sick due to inflammation in his liver, and was undergoing treatment. The girl who was reportedly the daughter of Atik Ahmed used to be the neighbour of Amit’s family. This report also claimed that the couple were finding it difficult to get married owing to their different religion, which allegedly prompted this extreme step.

Such an incident was also reported in 2015 from Muzzafarnagar in UP, when similarly a Hindu boy and Muslim girl had killed themselves because their families weren’t ready to accept their marriage.

Javed Akhtar slammed for absolving the Rohingyas in Hindu mass grave matter

0

On Monday, lyricist Javed Akhtar took to Twitter to absolve Rohingya terrorists of the mass murder of 28 Hindus whose mass grave was found in the conflicted Rakhine state.

In his tweet, Akhtar virtually gave clean chit to the Rohingya terrorists and instead blamed the Myanmar Army of killing Hindus. This, despite many reports that quote Hindu survivors who have identified Islamist Rohingyas as attackers. Was Akhtar doubting the account of survivors? This is similar to Kashmiri separatists who often blame Indian Army when Hindus and Sikhs are attacked in Kashmir. E.g. The Chittisinghpura massacre where 35 Sikhs were brutally murdered in Kashmir in 2000.

A Twitter user gave a fitting reply to Akhtar’s armchair activism.

When questioned how can he be so sure that “Hindus are also escaping along with Rohingyas” without knowing facts of the matter, Akhtar replied,

This, even as there are reports that the Hindus in the conflicted Rakhine region are paying a high price for the conflict between Rohingyas and Myanmar Army. A report by Times Now paints an even grim picture of the situation. According to that report, 300 Rohingyas had abducted 100 Hindus on 25 August and killed 92 of them. According to several Hindu refugees, they fled their lands after the Rohingya terrorists came to attack them with weapons like swords, guns and even spears. The hundreds of attackers reportedly burnt the Hindus’ homes and even shouted that Rakhine is an Islamic state. So, Hindus and Rohingyas aren’t running away from common enemy. The Hindus are running away from the Rohingya terrorists.

Others, too, called him out.

Twitterati also channelised their inner sarcastic self to show Akhtar’s hypocrisy.

This is not the first time Javed Akhtar has shown his hypocrisy in full glory. Earlier he had asked for sacking of a female police officer who had written a passionate poem blasting the Azaad Maidan rioters.

He has also made demeaning and condescending remarks about sportspersons just because he did not agree with their views. He had also posted an offensive ‘joke’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s estranged wife, which he later deleted.
