Truckers call off strike after govt assurance that BNS provisions in hit and run cases will be ‘discussed first’: Details

On 02 January, truckers called off the strike after a meeting with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla. The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) announced that the nationwide truck drivers’ strike ended following assurance from the government that the new laws under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for ‘Hit and Run’ cases will be implemented only after consultation with the association.

Chairman of AIMTC, Malkit Singh Bal, said, “We met and discussed the provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and all issues have been resolved. The new laws have not been implemented yet and will only be implemented after consultation with AIMTC.”

In a statement, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said, “We had a discussion with All India Motor Transport Congress representatives. Govt wants to say that the new rule has not been implemented yet; we all want to say that before implementing Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 106/2, we will have a discussion with AIMTC representatives and then only we will take a decision.”

The strike affected several states, including Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. Around 60-70 per cent of trucks and about one crore truckers were off the road due to the strike.

Notably, the top officials in the Home Ministry said there was confusion among the truckers about Section 106 (2) of the BNS. Under Section 106 (1), the provision of punishment was for 0 to 5 years, under Section 106 (2), the punishment was for 0 to 10 years in ‘Hit and Run’ cases.

The strike was announced against the increase in punishment in the ‘Hit and Run’ cases under BNS. Under the new provision, a jail term of up to 10 years or Rs 7 lakh fine would have been imposed if the driver flees an accident spot or fails to report it to the authorities. Notably, under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the punishment for the same was 2 years in prison.

The truck union’s decision to go on strike caused chaos in several states as people went on a ‘panic buying’ spree. Several petrol pumps dried out across the country, and long queues were seen outside petrol pumps amid the uncertainty over the strike.

Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri killed in drone strike in Lebanon

Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri was killed in an alleged Israeli drone strike in Beirut on Tuesday, The Times of Israel reported.
The terrorist organisation Hamas has also confirmed that Israel killed its deputy commander, Saleh al-Arouri, in Lebanon earlier tonight.

“The cowardly assassinations carried out by the Zionist occupation against the leaders and symbols of our Palestinian people inside and outside Palestine will not succeed in breaking the will and steadfastness of our people or in undermining the continuation of their valiant resistance,” senior Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq said in a statement, according to The Times of Israel.

However, Israel is yet to comment on the strike that has killed the senior Hamas leader. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, condemned the alleged killing of Saleh al-Arouri. He issued a statement responding to the alleged killing of Hamas deputy leader, terming it a “new Israeli crime” and forewarned, saying Tel Aviv is aiming to drag Lebanon into the conflict.

Al-Arouri, 57, a resident of Lebanon, served as the political bureau’s deputy director for the terror group and was regarded as the de facto head of Hamas’s military branch in the West Bank.

He was freed from Israeli prisons in March 2010 after serving many periods there as part of negotiations to secure a bigger prisoner swap for Gilad Shalit, an IDF soldier who was abducted by Hamas in 2006. Later, Arouri was instrumental in negotiating Shalit’s 2011 release in exchange for the release of over 1,000 Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons, The Times of Israel reported.

He moved to Istanbul but was forced to move from there after Israel restored relations with Turkey after the two countries had cut their ties over an IDF attack on a Gaza-bound solidarity flotilla that resulted in the deaths of nine Turkish citizens in a bloody altercation aboard a ship.

Al-Arouri resided in Syria before relocating to Beirut. From there, he oversaw the military operations of Hamas in the West Bank, encouraging acts of terror and setting up the money transfers necessary to finance such assaults, The Times of Israel report stated.

Additionally, he was among the Hamas executives with close ties to Iran and the terrorist organisation Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“I was aroused and engaged”: Karan Johar says Animal is 2023’s best film in front of film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga

On 1st January 2024, Bollywood Producer Karan Johar said that for him Animal was the best film in 2023 while admitting that he might get “dirty looks” (criticism) for praising the film which drew criticism from people who are considered close to the Bollywood producer.

Karan Johar made the assertion in an interaction on the Galatta Plus Pan-India Roundtable 2023, where the film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga was also present.

Johar said, “….Animal to me is the best film of the year. It took me a while to reach this statement and a lot of courage because when you are around people, you fear judgment. Like during the time of Kabir Singh, which I also loved… I was like I am going to say this and I am going to get dirty looks from certain people but I don’t care anymore.”

Karan Johar added that when he came out publicly to admit that he loved Animal, people reminded him saying, ‘You have made Rocky Aur Rani,’ That’s the vaccination for a film like Animal. It’s the opposite extreme. Johar added that he could not disagree with them more, because for him Animal was 2023’s best film.

Notably, a section of the Bollywood fraternity including film critics ran a campaign against Sandeep Reddy Vanga-helmed Animal accusing it of promoting “toxic masculinity” and setting a bad precedence for society.

Incidentally, post the success of Animal, Vanga appeared in a string of interviews. In several of these interviews, he revealed that there is a section of the Bollywood fraternity that has ganged up and targeted him, hinting that they do the same with all those who don’t get along well with them. According to Vanga, this gang likes a certain kind of cinema, and they appreciate certain filmmakers’ movies only. He said, “What I see is that there is a clear hatred towards a filmmaker than a film.” Naming a few film critics, he had advised them to go to China and called them “illiterate” and “uneducated”.

Regarding the criticism that Animal promotes misogyny, Karan Johar argued that if one goes after a film, they can find flaws in every film. Defending the film, he argued, “You can debate about it, you can debate the politics, the scenes, but I am aroused and engaged by the cinema of this film. You get into the nitty-gritty of every film, and you can find flaws and red flags, but for me, the biggest green flag is the talent of this man who has conceptualised this film. I have seen so many good films this year, but the only film which taught me something was this film.”

Nonetheless, Karan Johar explained the reason why he liked the film saying, “I loved Animal for its front-footed, absolutely conviction-based narrative storytelling, breaking grammar, breaking myths, breaking everything that you think conforms to mainstream cinema.”

He added, “Suddenly you have an interval block where the hero is getting bashed up and everyone’s singing a song… I am like, ‘Where have you seen a sequence like this?’ It’s genius.”

Karan Johar said, “The end, where the two men are going for each other and they play that song… I had tears in my eyes, but there was only blood. So I was like something is wrong with me or something is wrong with him, but something put together is very right about this film.”

Praising Animal’s director Vanga, the Bollywood producer described him as “distinct” and “individualistic” adding that he saw the film twice and it was the movie in 2023 from which he learned something. According to him, the success, and acceptance of Animal is game-changing. It’s going to bring in a tone and syntax which doesn’t exist.

He added that Vanga has a strong conviction and doesn’t hesitate to stop a popular song at his will. Johar said, “I love that he has a popular song, he plays it then he stops it whenever he wants to. Before the refrain comes out, he stops it, he starts it when he wants to, and he cuts the scene how he has to. It is like he is telling a story with such conviction and that’s the conviction that I want to have.”

Statue of Unity got a whopping 50 lakh visitors in 2023: How the monument defied propagandists who predicted doom a few years ago

In a remarkable achievement, 2023 marked the busiest year for Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s Statue of Unity, which stands tall on the Narmada River in Kevadia, Gujarat. The major tourist attraction site recorded its highest-ever annual footfall last year, which ended on Sunday. As per official data, over 50 lakh tourists visited the tallest statue in Ektanagar, which is the highest since its inauguration on 31st October 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Additionally, the statue built near the Narmada river in honour of the Visionary Freedom Fighter and ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also recorded its highest-ever single-day visitors, with 80,000 tourists on Sunday, 24th December.

As per official data, in the last five years, the Statue of Unity has registered more than 1.75 crore football. The ticket sales for the 182-meter-tall statue have generated revenue worth over Rs 400 crore as of October 2023.

Since its inauguration, the site has witnessed a sharp increase in the number of tourists each year barring a little stint during the COVID pandemic.

Strikingly, by 2019 itself, the site surpassed the Statue of Liberty in the USA in terms of average daily visitors. The Statue of Liberty sees a daily footfall of 10,000, whereas the Statue of Unity attracted 15,036 daily visitors in December 2019.

On an annual basis, over 4.5 lakh tourists paid a visit to the Statue of Unity in its inaugural year. Next year, the site witnessed a sharp increase registering over 27.45 lakh visitors in 2019. However, on account of the COVID pandemic, the site was closed for several months, and the visitors count dropped to around 12.81 lakh.

The number of visitors tripled to over 34.34 lakh in 2021 which increased further to over 46 lakh visitors in 2022.

The Statue of Unity authorities said that while the statue of India’s first home minister Sardar Patel remains a major attraction, the Jungle Safari, Ekta Nursery, Glow Garden, and other spots too have become popular among the visitors. Furthermore, the management overseeing the tourism site has been adding new attractions every year to draw more visitors like river-rafting.

Propagandists had carried out a tirade to run down the project as a failure

Incidentally, the staggering growth in visitor count at the Statue of Unity gains significance from the fact that initially, the mega tourism project by the Modi government was subjected to a smear campaign by the coterie of his deranged naysayers. Notably, the project was started in 2013 by Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and dedicated to the country in 2018 by Modi as Prime Minister of India.

Citing the hefty project cost which roughly stands at Rs 3000 crore, Youtubers Dhruv Rathee, Deshbhakt aka Akash Banerjee, journalist-turned Youtuber Ravish Kumar among others had hurled a barrage of labels arguing that the project would be a grand failure.

According to them, the project was an inevitable failure for varied reasons –

  1. The project should not have been made in the first place. In fact, Sardar Patel wouldn’t have approved of the Statue of Unity if he were alive, asserted Ravish Kumar while dropping a moral guillotine over the project.
  2. It would fail to make a break-even that is it wouldn’t be able to recover the cost incurred. For this, the liberals pulled a speculative percentage of cumulative visitors and revenue at other major tourist attraction sites. They did the math to come up with their pre-drawn conclusion that the project would take decades if not a century to recover its cost, hence a failure.
  3. They peddled that it was a “Made in China” project and resultantly an embarrassment for the Modi government and a setback to its “Make in India” initiative, with a chuckle as they scored a brownie point.
  4. It is a Sanghi thing to build statues when the resources could be used for other Welfare schemes and building Education and healthcare infrastructure. Also, it was duplicity on the part of “Bhakts” to criticise Former UP CM Mayawati for building her own statues and Dr. Ambedkar’s while being boastfully proud of Sardar Patel’s statue, as part of Journalist Ravish Kumar’s script.

Evidently, following the inauguration of the statue by PM Modi, Rathee uploaded the “harsh reality” of the Statue of Unity project. According to his “analysis”, the project was doomed to fail as the cost incurred was not judicious. To buttress his cynicism, he gave the example of other statues made around the world.

He argued that since the statue was a mere multiple in terms of size vis-a-vis other statues, the project cost should roughly follow the same proportionality asserting that it was not as if the statue would be “Gold plated” or anything other than ordinary.

Stating that the Taj Mahal registers a business of Rs 25 crore in a calendar year, Rathee emphasised that it would take SOU at least 120 years to achieve break even, with an insinuation that its Taj – one of the seven wonders of the World and not all tourist sites can equal leave alone surpass it, lest alone SOU.

Busting the propaganda point by point

In his monologue, journalist Ravish Kumar also lamented that the Modi government had separated Sardar Patel from his Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru as if we already don’t have enough monuments, institutions, and awards named and designated solely in his honour, leaving out Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.

Remarkably, if Sardar Patel were alive today, he might have declined such an honor, as many legendary figures tend to do (excluding a few instances where individuals bestowed the highest honor upon themselves). Mind you, it is uncanny to carve a statue of a living man. Had he been alive many problems wouldn’t have lingered for decades – although, that’s a separate matter.

Nevertheless, the nation and society would have expressed their gratitude to the great man through different means. The development project to boast tourism would have taken a different shape altogether. Having said that, mega statues in honour of society’s legends are not a pejorative thing, as was the underlying tone of the said assertion. Such sermonising assertions had been unabated on account of anti-Modi cynicism and trumpeting a bandwagon of literal negation of what the Modi government does.

Secondly, the skewed argument of speculative revenue by Rathee falters on many counts including the fact that ticket revenue is only one small component in the tourism sector. A tourism site gives a facelift to every player involved be it involved in logistics, food, vendors, sports, or allied activities among others. Even on that count, Ratee’s speculative figure of Rs 2.5 crore (10% of the Taj Mahal’s ticket revenue) was breached manifolds as SOU collected nearly Rs 80 crore each year on tickets (Rs 400 crore in 5 years as stated above).

There was a lot of misinformation spread about the Statue of Unity. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly told the lie that the statue will be ‘Made in China’. In the year 2015, Outlook had claimed that L&T had given the work of constructing the statue to a Chinese Foundry. The article mocked Modi’s “Make in India” campaign, by branding the Patel statue as “Made in China”. We had debunked this lie by Outlook in 2015 itself. L&T had in fact issued two statements countering this baseless story.

In attacking the statue, they also indulged in whataboutery, reminding how ‘bhakts’ had criticised statues that Mayawati had built as UP chief minister and memorials of Gandhi-Nehru family members.

It is unfathomable how can someone compare statue of the iron man of India built almost 70 years after his death to the dozens of statues that Mayawati had built during her own lifetime. And no, people didn’t attack Mayawati for building B R Ambedkar statues, most of the criticism was aimed at statues of Mayawati herself, and her party’s election symbol, the Elephant. And it was not that only ‘bhakts’ criticised the Mayawati statues, it was criticised by people from all political ideologies, including prominent journalists.

In fact, those ‘bhakts’ and eminent journalists shared the same feelings, no problem with parks and Ambedkar statues, but why build your own statues, that too so many? However, Rajdeep sang a different tune later, perhaps because it was the Modi government that built and inaugurated the Statue of Unity.

However, the leftist propaganda got badly bruised from the fact that Gujarat was already a top tourist destination in the nation with its historical monuments, and outside the cabal, it was not unethically wrong to expect that the Statue of Unity would become one of the most visit tourist attraction sites in the country.

Five years down the line, it is clear that the project is a big hit among tourists and it has helped the local economy to flourish. With direct and indirect employment to hundreds of people and over 13% (Rs 400 crore out of Rs 3000 crore) of project cost recovered in five years through ticket revenue alone, with other streams of revenue in the project chipping in, the Statue of Unity has entered the New Year standing tall over the residue of litany of lies and propaganda.

‘Mahua Moitra misusing power, conspiring with WB police to spy on me like she did on her ex-boyfriend’: Full details of Jai Dehadrai’s complaint to CBI

0

Trouble seems to have become synonymous with cash for query scam accused Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. After accusing her of trespassing on his house and stealing his beloved dog named ‘Henry’, Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai, whom Moitra referred to as her ‘jilted-ex’, has once again targetted the TMC leader by levelling some grave allegations against her.

In a complaint filed with the CBI, Dehadrai has accused Mahua Moitra of carrying out illegal surveillance on him. He said she has been doing this in connivance with some senior police officers in West Bengal.

Notably, popular social media user The Hawk Eye took to X to inform about Dehadrai’s complaint with the CBI against TMC MP Mahua Moitra. He wrote, “Mahua Moitra allegedly put illegal surveillance on her ex-boyfriend (other than Jai Anant) and his female friend. Don’t miss the big names! A confidential complaint letter to CBI exposed the hypocrisy of the MP who has been vocal about ‘Pegasus Story’!!”

“The complaint letter sent to the CBI director on 29.12.23 reads that Mahua Moitra conspired with senior police officers in West Bengal to carry out illegal surveillance, including physical location, using mobile phone number,” read his subsequent post, where he also shared a screenshot of the copy of the complaint filed by the SC lawyer with the CBI.

Notably, Mahua Moitra was amongst the section of leftist media and self-proclaimed ‘intellectuals’ who had accused the Modi government of snooping or indulging in any illegal surveillance on any Indian citizen using the Pegasus spyware. India’s IT minister, on the floor of the house, has categorically denied all such charges. On August 25, the Supreme Court also said that no conclusive proof had emerged to support the claim that the Indian govt was using the Pegasus spyware to snoop on people. X user The Hawk Eye called out Mahua Moitra’s hypocrisy as she was now being accused of doing the exact same thing.

OpIndia, meanwhile, has acquired the full complaint copy filed by Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai. The complaint was dated December 29, 2023, and addressed to the CBI Director Praveen Sood and Home Minister Amit Shah.

In the complaint, Dehadrai accused the TMC MP of carrying out illegal surveillance on him with the help of senior police officers in West Bengal. He also said that he feared that Mahua Moitra might be tracking his physical location by tapping his mobile phone.

Dehadri claimed that Moitra had herself told him that she had once, with the help of senior WB police officers, had surveillance placed on her boyfriend Suhaan Mukherji and a German woman called Helena Lersch, whom she suspected of being in a relationship with Mukherji. Divulging details of the incident, the SC lawyer wrote, “l have very strong reasons to believe that Ms. Mahua Moitra is using her contacts with Senior Officers of the Bengal Police to carry out my illegal surveillance and she may also be tracking my physical location using my phone number.”

Ms. Moitra has a demonstrated history of misusing her clout and connections with certain Senior Officers of Bengal Police to obtain the Call Detail Records (CDR) of private individuals to satisfy her personal desire to stalk the precise whereabouts of certain individuals as also the details of the individuals they are in touch with.

Further elaborating on the episode, the SC lawyer said, “I was shocked to learn that Ms. Moitra, with the assistance of Senior Bengal Police Officers, had the entire CDR History of Mr. Mukerji’s phone in which she had precise information about the individuals who had been in contact with Mr. Mukerji as also the precise physical location of Mr. Mukerji’s phone for all hours of the day.

He further wrote that when he questioned her about this and voiced his severe disapproval, the TMC MP simply responded that she had certain rights as a Member of Parliament, including being able to follow anybody she wanted. She stated unequivocally that certain IPS officials in the Bengal Police were obligated to her and could not, therefore, turn down her demand to locate Mukerji.

He added that Moitra took great pride in this occurrence and used it as evidence of her power over Senior Officers of the Bengal Police, who she said would stop at nothing to help her.

“I found this entire episode to be a particularly obscene and vulgar display of power especially since it was meant to browbeat and terrorise a private citizen who was at the receiving end of Ms. Moitra’s bullying and arrogant display of political power— this incident was cited by Ms. Moitra to me often — to indicate that she could harass me using her police clout whenever she wanted,” he said, adding that he feared for his safety.

SS of the copy of the complaint acquired by OpIndia

“Moitra had threatened me in the past on multiple occasions and she claims that she had access to my exact whereabouts as he friends were Senior Police Officers in Bengal and she also claimed that she had access to ‘phone-tapping’. Furthermore, Ms. Moitra had arrived at my residence in the past at late hours of the night, unwelcomed and unannounced, and on one occasion, in October 2021, when I asked her to leave my home — she threatened to jump to her death from my terrace. Given these direct threats that were made to me by Ms. Moitra, as also her past conduct where she actively stalked and tracked a private citizen (Mr. Mukerji), I fear for my safety as I strongly believe that Ms. Moitra is once again using nefarious means to track my movements as also the phone-conversations that I am having,” the complaint read further.

Supreme Court lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai attached photocopies of call records and screenshots of WhatsApp conversations with Mahua Moitra to attest to his claims.

Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai accuses TMC MP of trespassing

Prior to this, on November 7 Dehadrai had written a letter to the Delhi Police accusing TMC MP Mahua Moitra of “trespassing” and intimidating him.  In his letter to the SHO of Hauz Khas police station, he asserted that Moitra came to his house unannounced on the 5th and 6th of November, days after she had appeared before the Parliamentary ethics committee.

Mahua Moitra and Jai Anant Dehadrai’s battle for ‘Henry

Earlier this month, Dehadrai announced that his beloved dog named ‘Henry’ who was supposedly stolen by TMC MP Mahua Moitra has returned to him. Dehadrai shared a video on X and expressed his happiness over welcoming ‘Henry’, a Rottweiler. The feud between TMC MP Mahua Moitra and her ‘jilted ex’ advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai had gotten murkier with the duo fighting over the custody of a dog. Earlier, Dehadrai had written to the Delhi police commissioner accusing Mahua Moitra of stealing and hiding his pet dog Henry.

MahuaGate

On 14th October, the Indian political scene experienced a major tremor as BJP MP Nishkant Dubey wrote to the ethics committee seeking an inquiry against TMC MP Mahua Moitra in the ‘Cash for Query’ matter. He based his complaint on the letter written by Supreme Court lawyer Anant Dehadrai, who alleged that most of the questions asked by the TMC MP in Lok Sabha directly or indirectly benefit businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

Notably, Moitra has accepted that she had shared credentials with Darshan Hiranandani. Following this development, it was recently reported that PAs of Lok Sabha MPs have lost access to Digital Sansad login.

Meanwhile, it was also reported earlier that Darshan Hiranandani who is also an accused in this alleged scam, turned approver and accepted the allegations. In his affidavit, he said that Moitra gave him her Parliament username and password so he could post questions on her behalf. As reported earlier, the IT ministry had stated that it had sent a report to the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee confirming that the TMC leader’s parliamentary ID was accessed 49 times from Dubai. As reported earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated an inquiry against the TMC MP.

Gyanvapi mosque-Kashi Vishvanath Temple: Application filed in SC for cleaning of ‘wazukhana’ where Shivling was found

0

An application was filed in the Supreme Court by the Hindu petitioners seeking direction from the District Magistrate of Varanasi for cleaning the entire area of ‘wazukhana’ of Gyanvapi mosque where the alleged ‘Shivling’ was found and maintaining hygienic condition.

‘Wazukhana’ is the reservoir where devotees perform ablutions before offering namaz.

The application said fish in the water tank died between December 12 to 25, 2023 and due to the same, there is a putrid smell emitting from the tank.

“Since there exists Shivlingam which is sacred to Hindus and should be kept away from all dirt, grime, dead animals, etc. and must be in clean condition, is currently amid dead fish which is hurtful to the sentiments of the devotees of Lord Shiva,” the application stated.

The application filed through advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain said fish in the water tank have died and due to the same, there is a putrid smell emitting from the tank.

It is further submitted that the Committee of Management Anjuman Intezamia Masjid which manages the mosque in the Gyanvapi complex is responsible for the condition of fish due to which they have died.

“In case, the fish would have been transferred as requested by District Magistrate, Varanasi the present unfortunate situation would have not occurred,” the application said while seeking direction to clean ‘wazukhana’.

The area of ‘wazukhana’ was sealed in 2022 on a Supreme Court order after the discovery of what was said to be a ‘Shivling’.

A structure — claimed to be a “Shivling” by the Hindu side and a “fountain” by the Muslim side — was found in the mosque premises on May 16, 2022, during a court-mandated survey of the mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple.

The ‘Wazu’ area of the Gyanvapi mosque is the centre of the Gyanvapi mosque-Kashi Vishwanath temple dispute between Hindus and Muslims parties in the case since the Hindu parties claim that ‘Shivling’ has been found in that spot, however, the Muslim side disputed the same and said that it is only a water fountain.

Kanpur: Hindu man commits suicide after being harassed by Muslim wife for conversion to Islam, records video exposing his wife before death

0

On Monday (1st January), a 25-year-old man identified as Shubham Valmiki committed suicide in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh after being harassed by his wife for refusing to convert his religion to Islam. The accused woman also charged the victim in a fake rape case and forced him into jail after he refused to accept Islam.

According to the reports, the victim who was lodged in jail in an alleged fake rape case was recently released after which he hanged himself to death. The victim also recorded a video before dying and blamed his wife for his dreadful condition. The man in the video said, “You ruined my life. You just wanted me to convert my religion to Islam. I never asked you to become a Hindu. I accepted you the way you are. You even filed a fake rape case against me. Now I have left with no option but to end my life.”

The police have taken cognizance of the event and began an investigation into the case after the video went viral over social media.

Reports mention that Shubham worked as a DJ operator. His father stated that he fell in love with a Muslim woman a few years ago and then they got married. “The duo got married 3 years ago. It was a court marriage. However, there were tensions ongoing between the two for a year. His wife had left him. She wanted my boy to convert to Islam. On refusal, her family members asked for lakhs of rupees from him. And then the woman left last year,” he added.

The father added, “She lodged a rape report against Shubham in Juhi police station. The police arrested him and sent him to jail. These actions of the accused woman left my son devastated. He was very upset. On Monday, he went to the house. He committed suicide in the room on the first floor. Shubham’s body was hanging to a dupatta at home. We took him to Hallett Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.”

Before his demise, Shubham created two videos. During the inquiry, the police discovered both videos from the mobile device. Shubham comments in the first video addressed to the woman, “You did a very good job by ruining us. Your family members divorced us after taking a loan of 80 thousand rupees from us. Even in the name of ending the rape case, you took two and a half lakh rupees from us. If you don’t want to stay, then don’t stay, just return my money.”

In the second video, Shubham says, “I sacrificed my skills, job, and life’s earnings for your love. But you only used me. I completely ruined myself in your love. That’s why I am committing suicide. I am going.” In the video, he has blamed his wife and in-laws for his death.

According to DCP South Ravindra Kumar, the youth committed suicide by hanging himself. He has made significant claims against his wife and in-laws before his death. He also created a video before his death, which went viral. All of these aspects are being investigated. Based on the family members’ complaint, a report will be filed in the case.

Manuvadis harassing Dalits but Muslims protecting them as shield: Islamic cleric organising ‘Muslim Mahapanchayat’ in Jaipur

On 28th December last year, an Islamic cleric by the name of Maulana Ahsanul Haq Chaturvedi, involved in organising ‘Muslim Mahapanchayat’ in Jaipur city of Rajasthan, courted controversy by making distasteful remarks about followers of Hindu text ‘Manusmriti.’

Maulana Ahsanul Haq Chaturvedi, a spokesperson for the radical Islamist party Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), told the media, “Those (Hindus) who are now targeting Muslims will attack Dalits next. If Muslims do not stand up to them (Hindus), they will target Dalits directly.”

He further claimed, “Muslims are known to shield the marginalised and therefore we protect the Dalits as a shield. So we are organising this Muslim Mahapanchayat so that we can keep protecting Dalits from Manuvadis (a derogatory reference to followers of Hindu scripture Manusmriti).”

If Muslims do not take the initiative and face the bullets for Dalits, then Manuvadis will treat them like Shudras…So we are forced to fight their battle against the Manuvadis,” he brazened out.

The Islamic cleric claimed that Muslims were thus forced to come forward and organise ‘Muslim Mahapanchayat’ in Jaipur. Sajid Saqlaini, another leader of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council who was present at the event, was quizzed about the name of the communal event.

On being quizzed about the exclusivist name of the event, specifying Muslim identity, he failed to provide a convincing response. It must be mentioned that the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) was founded by radical cleric Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan in 2001.

Dalits under attack from Muslims

While radical Islamic clerics attempt to create an imaginary alliance between Dalits and Muslims in the hopes of preventing Hindu consolidation, the reality on the ground is strikingly different.

OpIndia has documented multiple cases where Muslim mobs attacked Dalits and no Maulana expressed any solidarity with them. Despite this, they present themselves as true ‘allies’ of the Dalit community to take the latter away from the Hindu fold.

Maulana Taqueer Raza overseeing ‘Muslim Mahapanchayat’ preparations

On Monday (1st January), radical Islamic preacher Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan reached Gajraula city in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh to oversee preparations for the ‘All India Muslim Mahapanchayat.’

As per reports, the communal event is scheduled to take place in the first week of February this year at the Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. When Maulana Tauqeer Raza reached Gajraula, he was welcomed by his fellow co-religionists.

The Islamic hate preacher claimed that Dalits and other ‘marginalised groups’ would participate in the ‘All India Muslim Mahapanchayat.’ He said that efforts would be undertaken to end the atmosphere of hate in the country.

Maulana Tauqeer Raza lamented that all political parties have supposedly distanced themselves from the ‘Muslim society.’ Interestingly, the Islamic preacher who was mouthing platitudes about uniting the Indian society had previously made genocidal speeches against the Hindu community.

Kerala HC declines plea seeking termination of 34 weeks pregnancy of a 12-year-old in incestual relationship with her minor brother

The Kerala High Court struck down a petition seeking permission to terminate the pregnancy of a 12-year-old girl who was in an incestual relationship with her minor brother. The court said it was not a case where termination of pregnancy is an option as the fetus had reached the 34th week and was “fully developed”.

The court ordered custody of the minor girl and her parents/guardians while asking authorities to ensure that the brother against whom allegations are levelled was not permitted anywhere near the girl.

“The fetus has already reached 34 weeks of gestation and is now fully developed, preparing for its life outside the womb. Pregnancy at this stage is untenable, if not impossible, and obviously, therefore, the child will have to be allowed to be born…” the court noted.

Justice Devan Ramachandran headed the bench asked the petitioners to take care of the girl, and also directed the parents that the minor brother against whom allegations have been levelled is not allowed anywhere near the girl.

Initially, the Medical Board recommended the termination of the 34-week pregnancy, citing the young age and psychological trauma experienced by the minor girl. However, after discussions with the Court, the Medical Board changed its opinion, stating that the minor girl was deemed healthy enough to carry the pregnancy to full term. Due to insufficient information in the Medical Board reports, the Court ordered a reassessment of both the minor girl and the fetus.

The Review Medical Board indicated that extending the pregnancy by an additional two weeks to achieve full term was unlikely to have any significant psychological impact on the minor girl. Additionally, the Board recommended a caesarean delivery over a vaginal delivery, as it was deemed to have a lesser psychological impact on the minor girl.

The petitioners’ Counsel asserted that if there were no alternatives, the minor girl would endure the two-week extension to reach full term. They also asked that the choice between caesarean and vaginal delivery be left to the petitioners. Furthermore, they sought permission for the minor girl to stay with her parents, ensuring she received their care and support.

However, the Court, while rejecting the plea, affirmed that the petitioners would receive continuous and comprehensive medical assistance. The Court also clarified that after the completion of delivery, the petitioners could seek assistance under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
