On 8th July 1910, when Veer Savarkar was being transported to India for trial aboard the British ship SS Morea, leapt through the porthole of the ship at Marseille port. Savarkar managed to escape even though a strict vigil was placed on him by the police and there were no portholes in the room he was kept in.
“Last time when I came to France, it was decided that Indian students studying in France would be given a 2-year post-study work visa. Now it has been decided that Indian students will be given a five-year post-study work visa," while speaking to the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris.
PM Modi thanked French President Macron for the honor on behalf of the people of India. The award ceremony took place at the Elysee Palace where Macron hosted PM Modi for a private dinner.
Prime Minister Modi is the guest of honour at the prestigious Bastille Day Parade which is scheduled for July 14. The annual Bastille Day Parade is a massive military display commemorating the historic French Revolution. It honours France's national pride while showcasing the country's military prowess.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss a broad range of issues, including joint production of military platforms, the prospective purchase of Rafale-Marine (Rafale M) fighter jets for the Indian Navy's indigenously-made INS Vikrant aircraft carrier, nuclear reactors, and deeper cooperation in space, among others.
