India tops world ranking in digital payments, records 89.5 Billion transactions in 2022

India, with 89.5 billion digital transactions in the year 2022, has topped the list of countries in digital payments, according to the latest available data.

Second, on the list is Brazil which amounted to 29.2 billion transactions followed by China with 17.6 billion transactions. On number 4 is Thailand with 16.5 billion digital transactions followed by South Korea with 8 billion worth of transactions, the data from MyGovIndia has stated.

The continuous increase in the number of digital payments in the country is in line with the government’s vision to transform the economy using digital transactions.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is number one in digital payments and that the country’s rural economy is transforming.

“India is number one in digital payments. India is one of the countries where mobile data is the cheapest. Today, the country’s rural economy is transforming,” the PM said.

In digital payments, India has been witnessing new milestones, in both value and volume terms, which indicate the robustness of India’s payment ecosystem and acceptance, as per RBI experts.

Dainik Bhaskar distances itself from the ‘journalist’ who was seen arguing rudely with Smriti Irani, says not our employee

On Friday (June 9), Dainik Bhaskar issued a statement, clarifying that the ‘journalist’ who argued with Union Minister Smriti Irani and insulted the people of Amethi in a viral video is not associated with the Hindi daily.

In a tweet, it stated, “A journalist is seen arguing with Smriti Irani in a viral video. The man, identified as one Vipin Yadav, is claiming to be a reporter from Dainik Bhaskar. That is untrue.”

The Hindi daily further added, “Dainik Bhaskar has no permanent employee in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. We work with our stringer (freelance journalist) network for news gathering. Vipin is not one of those stringers.”

The Background of the Controversy

On Friday (June 9), a ‘journalist’ named Piyush Rai shared a 1 minute and 19-second long video wherein a ‘reporter’ (claiming to be a ‘journalist’ from Dainik Bhaskar) was seen heckling BJP leader Smriti Irani in her Lok Sabha constituency of Amethi.

“Do not insult the people of my constituency, even if you are from Dainik Bhaskar…I know what I am… Do not insult the people here…” the Union Minister was heard saying.

The so-called reporter claimed, “I am not insulting anyone… Just questioning you about your activity for the first time. You are not ready to answer.”

At that point, Smriti Irani sat in her car and reprimanded the man for insulting the people of Amethi. “If you continue to do this, then, I will need to call your supervisors… Journalists do not have the right to insult people…I will call and let them (your higher-ups) know,” she cautioned.

She further added, “You might be a big-time reporter but you do not have the right to insult the common people…I am telling you this with utmost respect and love…Do not insult my people again.”

It remains unknown as to what triggered the heated conversation between Smriti Irani and the alleged journalist. Piyush Rai, who uploaded the video, had falsely claimed that the reporter was associated with Dainik Bhaskar. He also accused the BJP leader of threatening the man.

The video was then re-shared by the Congress party, with the claim that Smriti Irani is threatening the journalist.

“…It seems that the journalist must have asked – when will you get sugar for 13 rupees? Or when will the price of gas cylinders be reduced? Or why are you silent on the atrocities on daughters? When she could not answer, Smriti Irani issued threats to the reporter,” it claimed in a tweet.

Smriti Irani did not hold back and responded to the allegations of the Congress party. “Do not misbehave with the people of Amethi. It was a request that you may not understand. You can bear the insult of the people of Amethi but I cannot,” she tweeted.

“As far as the subject of questions is concerned, tell me when to debate with the former MP (a reference to disqualified MP Rahul Gandhi). I can tell the price of sugar, flour and pulses as well,” the Union Minister hit back.

Following the clarification of Dainik Bhaskar that the ‘journalist’ in the viral video is not associated with the Hindi daily, Smriti Irani took potshots at the grand old party.

“O Lord, the reporter turned out to be fake,” she tweeted.

Balasore train tragedy: School building that served as temporary mortuary demolished amidst rumours of supernatural presence

0

Amidst rumours of supernatural presence at the Bahanaga High School building in Balasore, which served as a temporary mortuary for the victims of the Odisha train accident, an assistant teacher of the school has refuted the claims of any spirits existing on the premises.

The teacher emphasized that the reports suggesting the presence of spirits are untrue. However, due to the concerns raised by parents and students, the decision has been made to demolish the current school building and construct a new one.

“Parents and children have refused to come to Bahanaga High School citing that dead bodies were kept there. The District Magistrate visited yesterday. This is all a superstition. The new building will be constructed after demolishing the rooms in which the dead bodies were kept. Till then children will be taught by making temporary arrangements,” said one of the school teachers.

Following the tragic incident of triple train accident on June 2 involving the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express, the Howrah-bound Shalimar Express and a goods train, which claimed the lives of 288 people, the Bahanaga High School accommodated bodies in six classrooms. The incident occurred in close proximity to the school, leading to apprehension among the students and their families.

In response to the reluctance of students to return to the school, the demolition of the building commenced on Friday morning in the presence of the school managing committee. The district collector had previously asserted that the building would be demolished if the committee submitted a resolution, which they did.

Demolition of the Bahanaga High School building in the Balasore district began today in the presence of the school managing committee. On Thursday, Balasore district collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde had visited the school and said it would be demolished if the school managing committee submits a resolution.

“The committee accordingly submitted the resolution following which the demolition started. It had earlier members met with District Collector Shinde and discussed virtually with Odisha chief secretary PK Jena the reluctance of the students to attend classes in the school where bodies of the victims of the June 2 mishap were kept.

ED issues show-cause notices to Xiaomi and three banks over FEMA violation in illegal remittances

0

The Adjudicating Authority has issued show-cause notices to Xiaomi Technology India Private Limited, its officials and three banks under section 16 of the Foreign Exchange Management Act on the basis of a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) with respect to illegal remittances made by the company to the tune of Rs.5551.27 crore, an official statement said on Friday.

The show cause notices were issued to the company along with Manu Kumar Jain, ex-managing director and Sameer B Rao, present director and chief financial officer of the company. The Adjudicating Authority also issued show cause notices to three banks — CITI Bank, HSBC Bank and Deutsche Bank AG — for contravention of Section 10(4) and 10(5) of FEMA and directions issued by RBI by allowing foreign outward remittances in the name of Royalty through the banks without conducting due diligence and without obtaining any underlying Technical Collaboration Agreement from the company, the statement said.

Earlier, ED had seized Rs 5551.27 crore of M/s Xiaomi Technology India Private Limited lying in its bank accounts under the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act,1999, for unauthorised remittance of this amount in the guise of Royalty abroad by the company, the statement added.

The competent authority, appointed under Section 37A of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, has confirmed the said seizure order.

The authority, while confirming the seizure, held that ED is right in holding that foreign exchange equivalent to INR 5551.27 crore has been transferred out of India by Xiaomi India in an unauthorised manner and is held outside India on behalf of the group entity in contravention of Section 4 of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 and the same is liable to be seized in terms of provisions of Section 37A of the FEMA, the statement further said.

The authority also observed that payment of royalty is nothing but a tool to transfer the foreign exchange out of India and the same is in blatant violation of the provisions of FEMA.

According to the statement, ED had initiated an investigation in connection with the illegal remittances made by the company last year. During the investigation under FEMA, it was found that the company had remitted foreign currency equivalent to INR 5551.27 crore to three foreign-based entities, including one Xiaomi group entity, in the guise of royalty.

Under the cover of various unrelated documentary facade created amongst the group entities, the company remitted this amount in the guise of Royalty abroad which constitute a violation of Section 4 of the FEMA.

Maharashtra: Illegal memorial of Tipu Sultan built by AIMIM MLA in Dhule bulldozed after local Hindus filed a complaint

On 8th June 2023, an illegal memorial of Tipu Sultan built in a square in Dhule was bulldozed by the local municipal corporation after local Hindus raised a complaint against it. This Tipu Sultan memorial was built right in the middle of the 100-feet wide road by the local All India Majlis e Ittihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Dr Farooq Anwar Shah to appease the Muslims who are a majority in the nearby Vadjai Road area.

The Dhule unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had written a letter to the Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis in this regard. The copies of the letter were also given to the local SP and the commissioner of the municipal corporation of Dhule. The letter said, “In Dhule city, a 100-feet road has been constructed by the municipal corporation starting from D-Mart to the bypass highway. There is a lot of traffic on this road. Also, both sides of the road are home to most Muslims.”

Advocate Rohit Chandode of the BJYM further wrote in this letter, “Dhule city MLA Dr Farooq Shah has played with the sentiments of Hindus and misused his official position by constructing a memorial of the anti-Hindu tyrant Tipu Sultan without any government permission at the intersection square between 100-feet Road and Vadjai Road in the Muslim area of Dhule city.”

The letter demanded strict action as it said, “I request the municipal administration to take action to demolish the construction of this illegal monument so that the peace of the city remains intact. The concerned should be directed to take action to register a case against Farooq Shah under the City Defacement Act.”

On 8th June 2023, late in the night, the illegal memorial of Tipu Sultan was bulldozed by the local administration. No violence, protests, or law and order situation was reported during or after the demolition.

Recently a temple was vandalised in the city

Notably, the idol of Lord Ram in the Ram Temple situated in the Moghalai area of Dhule city was desecrated on the night of 6th June 2023 by unknown antisocial elements. The incident caused tensions in the city.

Police have arrested three suspects. Following the incident, the encroachment was removed in the afternoon after a complaint was received that an illegal business was operating at night in the shed set up illegally near the temple.

A local family is responsible for offering regular prayers at the temple. The family forgot to lock the temple door on Tuesday night. Seeing this opportunity, unknown miscreants created a ruckus in the middle of the night. They desecrated the idol of Lord Ram by pouring alcohol. The incident came to light when devotees came for worship in the morning. A case in this regard was registered at the city police station. The police said that all three suspects arrested are from the Hindu Bhoir community and therefore there is no communal angle in this case. However, tension prevailed in the city.

‘Naseeruddin Shah said such a cheap and childish thing’: Mukesh Khanna lambasts Shah for his recent “Muslim hating” comment

Mukesh Khanna, renowned for portraying Shaktimaan in the show with the same name and Bhishma in B. R. Chopra’s Mahabharat, has lashed out at Naseeruddin Shah for his prejudiced assertions. Shah recently alleged that it is currently popular to hate Muslims and even educated people despise them. Mukesh Khanna responded to the statement by recounting all the love jihad incidences and questioned how Muslims are endangered in the nation.

He used his YouTube channel ‘Bhishma International’ to discuss the growing bigotry of the ‘A Wednesday’ actor. He remarked that at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), the Naseeruddin Shah was a classmate of his. However, when he sees and hears him now, he is rather stupefied. He used to think that there is no caste or religion exclusive to artists because they play all kinds of roles, but he is shocked to observe Naseeruddin Shah transitioning from a talented actor to a zealot today.

“I came to know after seeing Naseeruddin Shah that a great actor can say such a cheap and childish thing. It is said that Muslims are not safe in India. Sakshi, Shraddha, Ankita incident, apart from vandalism in Kanpur Hanuman temple, even after the gruesome incident of the beheading of a tailor in broad daylight, you have the audacity to say that Muslims are not safe in our country,” he wrote while sharing the video on his Instagram account.

He added, “If there is anyone unsafe, they are 100 crore Hindus only. You have become a fanatic which does not suit you as an actor. If so, then join the gang promoting the team of love jihad. You have to think otherwise people have to stop watching your films. May God grant you common sense!”

Naseeruddin Shah has become infamous for giving controversial statements in the past few years. He regularly glorified Mughals, attacked the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party government and even compared the current dispensation to Nazi Germany. “Muslim hating is fashionable these days, even among educated people. It’s what the ruling party has very cleverly tapped into this nerve. We talk about secular this, democracy that, so why are you introducing religion into everything,” he claimed. The veteran actor added that the election commission is a mute spectator and doesn’t stop politicians from exploiting religion as a political tool.

Uttar Pradesh: Muslim youth offers namaz in a Hindu temple in Hapur; case registered, temple purified

On Friday, 9th June 2023, a Muslim youth barged into a Hindu temple in the Kotwali area of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh. The youth offered namaz on the floors of the temple. the incident was followed by a heavy uproar from the local Hindu community. A case was registered in this regard at the local police station. The police are searching for the absconding accused. Hindus cleaned the temple after the accused was thrashed out of the temple.

Chandi Mandir is situated at Chandi Road in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. At around 5 AM in the morning, an unidentified Muslim youth entered the temple and offered namaz on the floors of the temple. The women devotees in the temple opposed him. After some time, more devotees reached the temple and then the accused was thrashed out of the temple.

When the devotees saw the youth offering namaz inside the temple, they opposed it. Later the temple floor was cleaned. When Hindu organizations learned about namaz being offered inside the temple, they also expressed their opposition and demanded the arrest of the person involved.

Upon receiving the information, Inspector Sanjay Pandey reached the temple and inquired about the incident to priests and other individuals present. He collected the CCTV footage and launched an investigation. The officials who arrived at the scene conducted a comprehensive inquiry into the incident. In response to the public’s anger, a substantial police force was deployed around the temple premises.

Prerna Sharma – the district magistrate of Hapur – visited the spot and took a review of the situation. She said, “This matter here at the Chandi Mandir came to light. I along with the SP and other police officers have discussed with the members of the temple committee and other devotees present here about this incident. We have also recorded their statements. This matter is being further investigated. We are also checking the CCTV footage.”

SP Abhishek Verma, accompanied by ASP Mukesh Mishra and a contingent of police forces, arrived at the temple and stationed the police personnel. Vinay Agarwal, a member of the temple management committee, told the media that namaz was offered in the temple courtyard. A First Information Report (FIR) is also filed in this regard. The members of Hindu organizations called for appropriate measures to be taken.

Here is why Canada is sending back over 700 students from Punjab and AAP is desperate for the Centre’s help

The lives of 700-odd Indian students, studying in Canada, were turned upside down in March this year after they received deportation notices from the Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA).

The students were informed that their ‘admission offer letter’ to a prominent educational institute in Toronto, namely Humber College, was fake. Some of them had completed their 12th exam a year earlier while others were closer to finishing their diplomas and degrees. The majority of the students are from Punjab.

Many of them were hoping to get permanent residence (PR) in Canada but in vain. All these students had one thing in common – they had applied for study visas through an agent named Brijesh Mishra in Jalandhar city of Punjab.

Mishra ran a consultancy firm named ‘M/S Education and Migration Services’ in Jalandhar alongside one Rahul Bhargava, now arrested for fraud. He started the company in 2014 under the Punjab Travel and Professional Regulation Act.

A resident of Bihar, Brijesh Mishra was arrested in 2013 for sending students abroad on forged documents. At that time, he used to run a company named ‘Easyway Immigration Consultancy Services’ along with Rahul Bhargava. Back then, police raided his office and recovered cash and passports.

Mishra is currently on the run from the law enforcement authorities. But the career of 700-odd Indian students still hangs in the balance. As per reports, they have paid a whopping ₹16 lakhs to Mishra who promised to facilitate their admission to Humber College.

Besides, they also shelled out extra cash for air tickets and security fees. The affected students filed their applications with the agent between 2018 and 2022. According to the police, Brijesh Mishra also took the franchise of another Delhi-based consultancy firm for facilitating student visas for Canada.

He would generate ‘fake admission offer letters’ for the students and fake fee deposit receipts from Humber College. Using these two, the accused would help his victims secure study visas from the Canadian embassy.

After the students would arrive in Canada and learn that Humber College had made no such admission offer letter, Brijesh Mishra would tell them that their admission had been cancelled.

He would ask them to secure admission to other colleges and return the college fee, after deducting a commission fee of ₹5-6 lakhs per student. The accused did this to avoid raising any suspicion.

The scam was unearthed after some students, who had completed their diplomas/degrees, applied for permanent Residency. After scrutinising the initial offers letters of Humber College along with the study visas, the Canadian authorities were able to unearth anomalies in the case of 700 Indian students from Punjab.

On May 26 this year, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser assured, “Our focus is on identifying culprits, not penalizing victims. Victims of fraud will have an opportunity to demonstrate their situation & present evidence to support their case.”

Given that the Canadian government has so far not withdrawn the deportation notices, the affected students launched a protest on May 29 outside the head office of the Canadian Border Security Agency in Mississauga. Similar demonstrations are being carried out in Ontario.

An Indian student by the name of Lovepreet Singh is set to be deported on June 13, 2023. Some students are fighting it out in Canadian courts while others are awaiting their fate.

One student named Balbir Singh said, “We are victims, not culprits. A protest has been going on in Toronto for the last 10 days. Students are spending 24 hours there without any shelter, seeking justice.”

“Students paid 40000 thousand dollars in fees and have been paying taxes for the last five years, now they are paying lawyers thousands of dollars. Can the Canadian authorities give these students half a decade and their money back?” another student asked.

On June 8, Sean Fraser tweeted, “We are actively pursuing a solution for intl students who are facing uncertainty due to having been admitted to Canada with fraudulent college admission letters. Those who have taken advantage of people genuinely hoping to study here will face consequences for their actions.”

He added, “Innocent victims will be given every opportunity to have their case considered fairly. Due to the complexity of the situation, we remain committed to working with CBSA to determine a fair outcome.”

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party-led- Punjab government is not shying away from appearing ‘all concerned’, even vowing to provide free legal aid to the 700 students facing deportation from Canada.

Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Punjab NRI Affairs Minister, announced that the affected students will be assisted by lawyers who are experts in Canadian immigration laws. He also wrote to Punjabi-origin Canadian MPs to help resolve the issues of the students.

While it is evident that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is going to take up the matter at a diplomatic level, Dhaliwal attempted to create a spectacle on Twitter about writing to EAM S Jaishankar and seeking immediate intervention.

“I shall be highly grateful if you again look into the matter personally and take up the matter with concerned agencies including the High Commission of Canada and the government of Canada so that these students can be saved from being deported,” he wrote.

Dhaliwal demanded that the “Students shouldn’t be deported & given work permits considering their VISAs”.

Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal also wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar requesting him to intervene in the matter. She said while 700 students had faced action on the same ground earlier, now it had come to light that 200 more students had been served deportation orders by the Canadian Border Services Agency after scrutiny of their papers.

Given that the Modi government has helped rescue Indians under extremely difficult circumstances, as evident in Operation Ganga, Operation Shakti and Operation Kaveri, it is obvious that it is trying to resolve the matter through appropriate diplomatic channels.

However, desperate for political clout, the AAP is exploiting an issue affecting Indian students in Canada.

‘She was like a daughter, never had physical relationship’: Saraswati Vaidya murder accused claims she committed suicide and he has HIV, police say they were married

56-year-old Manoj Ramesh Sane, who is accused of the brutal murder of his live-in partner 32-year-old Saraswati Vaidya, in Mumbai’s Mira Road, reportedly claimed that he is HIV positive and denied ever having a physical relationship with her. He claimed that she was like a daughter to him.

He is charged with murdering Saraswati Vaidya, dismembering the body with an electric tree cutter, and disposing of the pieces by boiling them in a pressure cooker and roasted them on gas so he can dispose of them easily. He sliced the pieces so small that police could not even count them and stored them in a bucket, tub, stove, and other kitchen containers.

The duo have known each other since 2014 but started living together at the Mira Road flat for the past three years. He informed the authorities that he first met her 16 years ago while working at a ration store.

Additionally, he claimed that she committed suicide. He further claimed that attempted to dispose of the body because he was worried about being indicted of murder. He then allegedly intended to commit suicide, the officer revealed. Details of his statements made during the interrogation are being verified, according to the officer who went to the scene on Wednesday night after learning of the tragedy.

He has been charged under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (evidence destruction) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the First Information Report (FIR). He has been placed in police custody till June 16 after being presented before a Thane court, per Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jayant Bajbale of zone-1, Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar police.

“During the preliminary inquiry, Sane told police that in 2008 he discovered that he was HIV positive. Since then, he has been on medication. He said that he suspects he contracted the disease due to the use of infected blood during his treatment a long time ago after he had met with an accident,” the senior official unveiled.

The victim was quite possessive and believed he was cheating on her every time he arrived home late, the officer mentioned, which was in line with his statement to the police. The officer quoted from his admission made during questioning and commented that she was preparing for the Class 10 Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations and that he was teaching her maths. The officer pointed out to have discovered a board with arithmetic calculations scrawled on it on one of the walls of the seventh-floor apartment.

The perpetrator explained to the authorities that he spotted Saraswati Vaidya on the morning of June 3 lying on the floor of their flat with froth coming from her mouth. He added that she was dead when he checked her pulse and opted to get rid of the body because he was worried about the action against him.

He also admitted to having an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) qualification but has been working at a Public Distribution System (PDS) store for the past 10 years since he was unable to get an appropriate job. The top cop noted that Sir Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy Hospital has received the body fragments removed from the kitchen for forensic examination.

Notably, Saraswati Vaidya was described as an orphan by the police on Thursday. Her three sisters, however, went to the Naya Nagar Police station on Friday to provide testimonies.

The DCP divulged that the police team had identified the deceased’s family and her sisters confirmed that she was in fact their sibling. “We are now working to match the DNA of the three sisters with the dead body while the procedure of handing it over is underway. We learned through the investigation that the pair was married at a temple and they had also told her sisters about it. However, due to their age disparity, they kept this knowledge from others.”

Police are attempting to identify which body parts are missing with the aid of medical professionals. They’ve seized the electric cutter.

Police believed that the crime occurred earlier but it came to light when neighbours complained about a bad odour coming from the couple’s flat on Wednesday. When the police were notified about the same, they forced through the door to the apartment and located the woman’s body in the kitchen, cut to pieces.

Manoj Sane went back to his house in the evening, unaware of the police presence. An officer proclaimed that he was captured while attempting to flee. A senior official highlighted that the man had shown no remorse during his interrogation.

National-level baseball player Sanjana Barkade commits suicide after one Abdul Mansoori threatens her to convert to Islam, had pretended to be Hindu earlier

On June 5, Monday, a national-level baseball player Sanjana Barkade committed suicide by hanging herself after facing continued threats to convert to Islam in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The accused who has been identified as Abdul Mansoori alias Rajan Khan was arrested on Thursday by Sanjeevni Nagar police on charges of abetment to suicide. The deceased victim’s mother said that Abdul Mansoori was pressuring Sanjana to convert to Islam. Sanjana’s father said that Abdul lied about his real identity to trap the victim. Sanjana hanged herself in her bedroom while her parents were away at a family function.

According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, the investigation indicated that Abdul Mansoori and Sanjana Barkade had been in a relationship for over a year. A few days ago, the two had a rift over an Instagram story. On the other hand, Sanjana’s friends said that she was quite jittery after hearing the news of love jihad cases. She distanced herself from Abdul, but he continued to threaten her.

The deceased victim’s mother claimed that the accused threatened her over the phone a few days ago. Accused Abdul Mansoori had asked, “You’re the girl’s mother? It’s good that you picked up the call. I wanted to talk to you only. You persuade your daughter to accept our religion (Islam). I want to do nikah with your daughter. If you do not accept our religion, we have come to find out where you live. We will kill you. Nothing will happen if you accept Islam.”

After hanging up the phone, Sanjana’s mother inquired as to who the caller was. Sanjana responded by saying she did not know him and switched off her phone. Meanwhile, Sanjana’s father stated that he learned three months ago that the person Sanjana spoke with on the phone was not a Hindu boy Rajan but a Muslim. Sanjana distanced herself from Abdul after learning about his real identity. This infuriated accused Abdul, who tortured Sanjana. He also stole Sanjana’s documents, as well as medals and certificates which she won in various baseball competitions. When Sanjana asked him to return her medals and documents, Abdul asked her to convert to Islam.

Meanwhile, the deceased victim’s father stated that the perpetrator was detained following his complaint. This has given him some relief, however, justice will be served only when Abdul gets punished. According to the police, Abdul told them during interrogation that his relationship with Sanjana had been going on for a year. He also visited Jabalpur three times to meet Sanjana. But Sanjana began distancing from him. He was continually pressuring her to continue the relationship by threatening to make her pictures and videos viral on social media if she did not consent.

Following Sanjana’s suicide, police are trying to determine the cause of the fight between the accused and the deceased victim. Sanjana’s father has reportedly accused Abdul Mansoori, a street vendor in Rewa of trapping his daughter in love jihad.
