‘Bulletproof burqa’: Pakistan’s ex-PM Imran Khan appears in Lahore court surrounded amid heavy security and a bulletproof bucket covering his head

On April 4, Pakistan’s beleaguered ex-PM Imran Khan finally got some legal relief. An anti-terrorism court in Lahore granted him bail in 3 cases.

As per a report in ANI,  Imran Khan’s bail has been extended till April 13 in three terrorism cases registered against him. The Zille Shah murder case, arson, and interfering with state affairs were three instances in which the PTI Chairman appeared in court seeking bail. Under the anti-terror and aiding and abetting laws, several cases were filed against the PTI chief at the Race Course police station.

The judges of the court had ordered that Khan’s presence is mandatory for the hearing if he wants to secure bail. The ex-PM appeared under heavy security where several personnel were holding up huge polycarbonate sheets to protect Khan.

In addition, Khan was walking blind, as his head was covered by a bulletproof ‘bucket’ like structure over his head.

Videos of his court appearance went viral on social media. Some netizens asked if Khan is wearing a bulletproof burqa.

“In Bollywood, Pathan plays with guns & bombs. In reality, Pathan appears in court in bulletproof Burqa”, commented the popular handle Pakistan Untold.

Security personnel were surrounding Khan from all possible angles with bulletproof material. They were also acting as human shields for the ex-PM. Pakistani media reported that since the attack during his rally in Wazirabad last year, Khan fears for his life and has been stepping out only under high security.

Khan is currently dealing with more than 140 cases related to terrorism, murder, attempted murder, and blasphemy that the PMLN-led coalition government registered against him over the past 11 months.

Earlier in March, Khan had made a similar appearance in the Lahore High Court.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to Imran Khan in the same case and directed him to approach the relevant court in this matter. PTI chairman Imran Khan, who arrived at the court, wrote in his petition seeking interim bail that he wants to be involved in the probe but there is a fear of arrest by the police, ANI reported.

Khan had been granted bail by the ATC with a condition that he post surety bonds of (PKR) 100,000 in each instance and cooperate with the investigation and appear at all scheduled hearings.

As Swara Bhasker calls Modi supporters ‘jaahil’, here is the origin of the word, straight from the Quran

On April 3, actor-cum-activist Swara Bhasker lashed out at Modi supporters and called them ‘Jaahil’. She wrote, “Unending jahaalat in this country! Vote for jaahils, make every institution as jaahil as you are, produce more jaahils… it’s an endless cycle!”

Bhasker seemed miffed with the voters for electing the Modi government at the centre after NCERT removed chapters on Mughals from the Class 12th textbook. Quoting India Today’s report, Bhasker vented out her frustration on micro-blogging website Twitter.

Interestingly, Bhasker seems to love the word way too much and has used it several times in the past. In 2021, she published a screenshot of Priti Gandhi and called her “jaahil” for pointing out that Covid-19 was an unprecedented event and that it would have been impossible for anyone to manage it more responsibly and compassionately compared to PM Modi.

Again, in 2021, she got irked by a tweet from a now-deleted Twitter handle and claimed India is governed by jahaalat.

In August 2018, she called two people who allegedly attacked Umar Khalid in JNU ‘jaahil’ and ‘gadhey’.

The origin of the words ‘jaahil’ and ‘jahaalat’

With so much “love” for this Arabic word, it is essential to know its origin. The words’ jaahil’ and ‘jahaalat’ find their roots in the Arabic word jāhiliyyah. According to Britannica, jāhiliyyah in Islam refers to the pre-Islamic period or before the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Mohammad.

In Arabic, the word means ‘ignorance’ and ‘barbarism’. It is often used by Arabic and Urdu speakers to demean people as uncultured and pagan, primarily for those who were nom Muslims. The word also finds a mention at several places in the Quran, chiefly referring it as ‘ignorance’ and the ‘age of barbarism’, which was essentially the time period before the founding of Islam.

The Al-Islam website talks about Jahiliyah in detail. According to Al-Islam, the word specifically refers to the lifestyle found in the land of the Arabs before the ‘Islamic Mission’ began. It also referred to the customs and beliefs of pagan Arabs and claimed they lived in a perverse and decadent manner.

When the word is used with the capital ‘J’, it refers to a specific time period of pre-Islam Arabs. However, when used with the small letter ‘j’, it refers to the ignorance of a man at any point of evolution, including post-‘Islamic Mission’.

In light of the meaning of the word ‘jaahil’ and its interpretation from Islamic scriptures, it is not entirely surprising that Swara Bhasker, who has often stood in support of Islamists and communal bigots, most notably in the 2020 Delhi Riots case, where she had and continues to back prime accused Umar Khalid, or her routine support to STSJ instigator Mohammed Zubair, chose the said word to vent out her frustration over the Centre’s attempt at decolonising Indian history that continues to be influenced by western and middle-eastern coloniality.

FIR on Bageshwar Dham’s Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for his ‘Sai Baba is not god’ comment, read details

A Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) Yuva Sena leader has submitted a written complaint letter to Mumbai police demanding that an FIR be lodged against self-styled godman of Bageshwar Dham Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for allegedly making controversial statements about 20th century saint Shirdi Sai Baba.

The Yuva Sena leader, Rrahul Narain Kanal submitted a complaint to Mumbai’s Bandra Police on April 3. According to the complaint letter, which has been accessed by ANI, Kanal wrote, “I came across a video excerpt of a self-styled Baba prominently addressed as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar in which the said Baba in his typical fashion addresses a large assembly of his purported devotees and responds to queries from the audience.”

“One of Shastri’s devotees queries him on the persona of Sai Baba’s worship being compared to other deities of Hindu religion. Astoundingly, Shastri responds to the question of his devotee in the manner most schemingly veiled with an ulterior motive and denigrates the honour, adorability and invocation of Sai Baba,” it added.

Such derogatory remarks on the reverence of Sai Baba not only deserve condemnation but also warrant for criminal action under section 153-A and other offences of IPC as it is equivalent to spreading hatred and enmity within the community and sub sections, he wrote.

The conduct of the Bageshwar Dham Sarkar in raising objections against Sai Baba and the devotee who sought response appears to be insensitive and appears to be deliberate in order to insult Sai Baba. This is evident in creating a communal rift within a peaceful society and comes under the ambit of hate speech. This should be thoroughly investigated in view of the guidelines of the Supreme Court to prevent hate speeches in public assemblies, he further wrote in the letter.

Notably, Shastri had said, “Shankaracharya of our religion did not give Sai Baba the place of God. It is the religion of every Sanatani to obey Shankaracharya because he is the prime minister of our religion. Sai Baba can be a saint, can be a fakir but cannot be God.”

Bihar excise team goes on a raid to find liquor, gets beaten up by villagers

A team of excise officials that went to conduct a raid in Rajdeo Nagar of Bihar’s Bhojpur district was forced to flee after they were beaten up by the locals. The incident took place on Sunday, April 4, when the team arrived to conduct a search operation in the area.

According to reports, the excise team was tipped off about the presence of liquor in the area, which prompted them to conduct the raid. While as per the villagers, the excise team tried to arrest a man who had come home for a ritual related to the death of a family member and the team members also assaulted women. This led to a clash between the locals and the excise team.

The six-member excise team, led by Inspector Alok Kumar Saigal, reportedly came under attack following this clash. The villagers threw stones at them while the excise team charged at the mob with their lathis in order to disperse it.

The team members were securely rescued by the Sahar police station staff as soon as the police station chief learned about the event, according to Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar. Kumar promised that “action will be taken against all who would be found guilty after filing FIR.”

The locals blocked the Ara-Arwal road to demand action against the excise squad following the altercation, which left 6 people injured. The injured excise team members were treated at the community health centre in Sahar while the villagers injured in the clash were treated at a private clinic.

This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place in Bihar. In January of this year, a team of excise officials was beaten up by villagers in the Arrah district while conducting a similar raid.

In December 2022, A team of the excise department was attacked by people running the illegal liquor trade in West Champaran.

Earlier in November 2022, a team was attacked by unknown miscreants in Muzaffarpur’s Pakri village after the team reached there to conduct a raid on the local liquor mafia.

Notably, the sale, consumption, and distribution of liquor is banned in the state of Bihar under the prohibition policy of the state government.

Hussain, Marakkar, Shamshuddeen, Satheesh and 10 others held guilty for 2018 murder of a tribal man in Kerala

On Tuesday, a special court in Kerala’s Palakkad district found guilty 14 of the 16 accused persons in the lynching and murder case of Attappady Madhu. The punishment will be announced by the court on Wednesday.

The accused who have been found guilty have been identified as Hussain, Marakkar, Shamsudheen, Radhakrishnan, Abubakr, Siddique, Ubaid, Najeeb, Jaijumon, Sanjeevan, Satheesh, Hareesh, Biju and Muneer. However, the court acquitted 2 persons named Abdul Kareem and Aneesh.

According to the reports, the accused were found guilty by the Mannarkkad Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Special Court five years after the incident happened. All the accused have been convicted by the Court under sections 323, 304, 149 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the SC/ST law. 2 convicts named Sanjeevan and Satheesh have also been booked under IPC sections 141, 143, 326 and 324.

All through the duration of the verdict, a sizable police force was stationed outside the court to prevent any untoward incidents. Also, special police protection was set up for Sarasu, his sister and his mother, Malli. Madhu’s mother had requested police protection in writing.

The case’s trial was finished on March 10 and the verdict was to be posted on March 18. Nevertheless, the date was first pushed to March 30 and then to April 4.

On February 22, 2018, a mob assaulted and murdered Madhu (30). He used to live apart from his family in a cave in the wilderness because of his mental impairment. He was seized from a cave in the jungle and led by a group of people to Mukkali, a tiny intersection in Attappady, where they accused him of routine shoplifting. He reportedly died as a result of the accused’s attack. He had to be transported to a hospital enroute to the police station after being turned over to the police at Mukkali. Unfortunately, the hospital pronounced him brought dead.

There have been 16 suspects in the case, all of them are from the Attappady neighbourhoods of Mukkali, Anamooli, and Kallamala. A total of around 100 of the 129 witnesses were questioned.

Throughout the trial, up to 24 of them became hostile. At the direction of the High Court, Special Court Judge KM Ratheesh Kumar concluded the trial procedures in the case. The prosecution had expressed confidence that the defendants would get the worst punishment possible if found guilty. On the other side, the defense attorneys were also making every effort to get the accused acquitted. The biggest defence claim was that the police, not the accused, tortured Madhu.

In April 2022, the procedures at the special court hearing of the case began. The court had placed tight conditions on the release of 11 accused people on bail last October. In response to the outcry over Madhu’s murder, police detained the suspect two days following the incident. Social media was widely used to share images and videos of tribal youths under the custody of a group of individuals.

On May 30, 2018, the Kerala High Court granted conditional bail to each of the 16 accused. To stop the 12 defendants from influencing the witnesses, the trial court revoked their bail in August. Although overturning the judgement regarding one of the accused, the Kerala High Court maintained the decision to revoke the bail of 11 of the accused.

One of the accused persons had also shared images on social media where a helpless Madhu was seen standing and looking at his assaulters with his hands tied up.

Some media reports stated that the victim was suspected by the mob of a house burglary three days before the lynching, while others claimed that he was suspected to have stolen a bag of rice. Reports also speculated that Madhu’s mental state rendered him unable to commit a crime.

However, the special court today held guilty 14 of the 16 accused in the Attappady Madhu lynching case. The punishment will be announced by the court on Wednesday.

‘The perpetrators of Mumbai 26/11 attacks should be brought to justice’: Israel Knesset speaker visits Nariman House, praises India for being a friend

0

Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana has said terrorists involved in the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai should be brought to justice. Amir Ohana made the remarks during a visit to the Nariman House in Mumbai to pay tribute to victims of the 26/11 terror attack.

“Everyone who took part in this terrible terror attack should be brought to justice. This is a major part of counter-terrorism. So, first, we need to prevent, but once we didn’t succeed to prevent, everyone needs to be brought to justice. And this is our expectation, and I think it is the vast majority of the Indian people’s expectation,” Amir Ohana said.

He added, “Visiting this place, there are two issues that are very, very close to my heart. One is Chabad, which symbolizes the love of mankind and the bridges between us. And the second is Counter-terrorism, which I spent over twelve years of my life, both in the IDF and the Israeli Security Agency. Terror, as we all know, does not differentiate between religions, between races.”

He stressed terrorism is exactly opposite to what Chabad symbolizes, which is building bridges and connecting people. Ohana said, “It is exactly the opposite of what Chabad symbolizes building bridges and connecting people. We have yet to conclude this terror event because still we are waiting for those who sent the terrorists to be brought to justice, the perpetrators.”

The Speaker of the Israeli Knesset said he visited Moshe’s room who was two years old when the terrorist attack in Mumbai took place in 2011. He said, “And we just visited Moshe’s room, who was two years old when this event took place. And we saw the wall that represents his height when he was eleven months old, and then later on, when he was, what, 11 years of age, and someone wrote there three words that someone was and still is the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. And those three words are Hum Israel Hai – the people of Israel lives.”

Ohana said Moshe wrote the same words when he visited Villa Vanza, where the final solution for the Jewish people took place in Germany. He said, “This is our message, I think, from here to the world. Hum Israel Hai – the people of Israel lives. And we are combined together.” He said that Jews in India never experienced hatred and anti-semitism and called it “very unique.”

He said that the people of India and Israel have a rich history and added that the nations are trailblazers when it comes to technology.

Moshe Holtzberg is a 26/11 survivor of the Mumbai terror attack. Holtzberg’s parents were killed in the 2008 terrorist attacks when he was two years old. Moshe lived with his parents at Mumbai’s Nariman House, also known as Chabad House. The boy was rescued by his nanny, Sandra Samuels, who was hiding in a room downstairs when the 26/11 Mumbai attacks unfolded. Six Jews, including Moshe’s parents Rabbi Gabriel and Rivka Holtzberg, were killed in Chabad House by Pakistani terrorists.

“Israelis are actually Jews being living here for centuries, never experienced hatred, never experienced antisemitism. This is something very unique. This is something we don’t see much in the world, and for many reasons, but those amongst them, my decision as to where would my first visit as speaker of the Knesset would be, was this. It is very, very impressive. People with very rich history, actually both nations with rich histories, with great respect for their traditions, but yet trailblazers when it comes to high tech and technologies and innovation. So we have a rich past, but we look forward to the future,” Ohana said.

On Monday, Ohana landed in Mumbai. Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai tweeted, “Knesset Speaker MK Amir Ohana has landed here as part of a first-ever visit to India. At the National Stock Exchange he was honoured by ringing the bell and meeting the CEO.”

Before his visit to Mumbai, Ohana and Israel’s parliamentary delegation held a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday. The two sides discussed strengthening India-Israel ties and promoting cooperation in I2U2.

“Glad to welcome Israeli Knesset Speaker @AmirOhanaand parliamentary delegation in South Block today. Discussed strengthening India-Israel ties and promoting cooperation in I2U2, Jaishankar tweeted.

Ohana tweeted, “Thank you my dear friend Minister for External Affairs of India @DrSJaishankar. It was an important and productive meeting. I’m confident that our collaboration will enhance Israel-India relations for the benefit of both nations.”

The Israeli Speaker also called on Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar at the Parliament House. Taking to Twitter, the official handle of the Vice president of India wrote, “A Parliamentary delegation from Israel, led by Hon’ble Speaker of Knesset, H.E. Mr Amir Ohana called on the Hon’ble Vice President & Chairman Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar at Parliament House today.”

On Friday, the Knesset Speaker called India one of Israel’s closest and dearest friends. He called it a distinct pleasure to have been invited to India. Knesset Speaker made the statement during a meeting with Parliament Speaker Om Birla.

“It is a great honour for me to be here with you today. This is indeed not only my first visit to India but also the first visit of any speaker of the Knesset in an official visit to India. And it is my distinct pleasure to have been invited specifically to India, one of Israel’s closest and dearest friends and the world’s largest democracy,” Ohana said.

The Israeli Parliamentary Delegation led by Amir Ohana called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House on Friday. At the outset, Birla welcomed the delegation to India and said that Israel and India have traditionally enjoyed close and friendly relations. The Israeli Parliamentary Delegation, which is on a visit to India was jointly invited by the Vice President and Chairperson of Rajya Sabha and the Speaker of Lok Sabha.

‘We were made to lay like corpses…then the raping began’: Survivors recount the horrors inflicted by Pakistani forces in 1971 Bangladesh war

Amina was a 16-year-old student in Dhaka when Pakistani army took her from her home. Noor Jahan was 14 and was playing when she was loaded in a loud military truck that had arrived at her family farmhouse. Razia Begum had stepped out of her house to look for her husband, Abu Sarkar, when she was trapped by the Pakistani soldiers and taken away.

What happened to these women after that would surpass any worst part of a horror movie. Millions of Bengali women were subjected to serial gangrapes and horrifying torture by Pakistan as a form of retaliation against a country that desired independence. Yet, Amina, Noor Jahan lived while many others like them could not. And sure, on December 16, 1971, the brave ladies were rescued from the horrifying abuse they had endured at the hands of Pakistani forces.

In a deliberate campaign of genocidal rape, Pakistani military personnel and the Razakars raped between 200,000 and 400,000 Bengali women and girls during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. Hindu women made up the majority of the victims of rape by the Pakistani Army and its supporters. While some of these ladies continue to survive today, others committed suicide or perished in captivity. Muslim religious authorities such as imams then referred to the women as ‘war booty.’  Islamic party activists and leaders are also charged with engaging in rapes and carjackings of women.

The then ruling class in Pakistan held that Hindus were responsible for the uprising and that the war would end as soon as the Hindu problem was resolved. Violence against Hindus seems to have been a deliberate policy for Pakistanis. Muslim males in Pakistan thought that the nation’s ills could only be cured by torturing Hindu women. According to anecdotal evidence, Imams and Mullahs approved of the rapes carried out by the Pakistani Army and issued fatwas referring to the women as war booty.

During the conflict, a fatwa from West Pakistan stated that women seized from Bengali Hindus might be regarded as war loot. According to reports, such rapes resulted in hundreds of pregnancies, the delivery of war babies, abortions, infanticide, suicide, and racial discrimination against the victims.

The atrocities, which were acknowledged as one of the worst instances of war crimes ever, came to a stop with the surrender of the Pakistani military and the accompanying Razakar militias.

Noor Jahan and her sister was 14 when she was abducted

After 52 years, one of the victims named Noor Jahan describes that she was 14-years-old and was playing with her sister when the military truck arrived at their farmhouse and loaded the duo inside where they discovered several women sitting back to back with their hands tied. “They told us to look down and to remain silent. The truck continued through the small town, making several stops; each time loading more women and girls into the back as if they were cattle. All the women were sobbing silently, too afraid to make sounds,” says Jahan (65) to the Guardian.

The women were then stored in the military barracks and regularly raped by several Pakistani military soldiers in frequent intervals. “We lay there like corpses, side by side. There were 20, maybe 30, of us confined to one room. The only time we saw daylight was when the door creaked open and the soldiers marched in. Then the raping would begin,” Jahan recalls.

The then Pakistan’s military commander, Gen Tikka Khan had ordered the military men to rape the women and impregnate as many women as possible with ‘blood from the west’. Military-style rape camps similar to the one where Jahan was detained were established all throughout the nation during the conflict that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. Between 200,000 and 400,000 Bengali women have reportedly been raped, according to official estimates, however even those figures are viewed as modest by some.

Bengali women’s experiences were among the first documented instances of rape being used as a deliberately deployed weapon of war in the 20th century, even if ethnic rape, according to the reports, was a part of Partition years before.

Razia Begum was tied to a tree before several Pakistani soldiers raped her

Similar dreadful experience was shared by Razia Begum who said that she had gone to look for her husband Abu Sarkar, who had been missing for several days in August 1971. Sarkar was a fruit vendor at Tejturi Bazaar in Dhaka, so she eagerly walked through its deserted lanes, but she could not find him. As Begum rounded a corner, she came face to face with a squad of soldiers. She attempted to flee but was shot in the head with a rifle, leaving her with a scar.

Begum was brought to a neighbouring bush, where she spent weeks being raped repeatedly. The troops were stationed nearby and made several daily returns. “They tied me to a tree and took turns raping me during their breaks,” says Razia who is 78-years-old today. The men finished torturing her and dumped Begum into a little ditch.

She was ultimately discovered by a passerby, who brought her to a refuge that Begum portrays as a lost-and-found one for women who were kidnapped during the conflict. For the several women who had been kidnapped and left kilometres from their homes, such improvised shelters had been erected in regions all across the region.

The conflict ended abruptly on December 16, 1971. Thousands of Bengali women, including Jahan and Begum, would be rescued from shelters and rape camps across the nation despite the fact that independence had been gained.

One of four kidnapped sisters died as she could not bear the pain

Amina, Maleka, Mukhlesa, and Budhi Begum, four sisters, were also kidnapped by Pakistani army and local allies. They were incarcerated for 2.5 months and were among the more than 200,000 women who were confined in rape camps. “Twenty-two of us would lie like corpses in that room,” said Malekha adding that her elder sister Budhi Begam lost her life before being released as she could not bear the pain.

Maleka Khan, then secretary of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association rescued several women back then. “There were women who were completely naked. They were abandoned in bunkers, where they had been kept and tortured during the war. We bought clothes and blankets and wrapped the women in them,” she said who is 80-years-old now.

“They were in a state of shock and couldn’t speak. Some had their hair chopped off, while others were heavily pregnant. There was an air of disbelief about the whole thing. It was all so horrific,” she was quoted as saying.

The newly independent Bangladeshi government then offered safe housing for the ladies. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founding father, gave rape survivors the title of “Birangona” (a war heroine) and formed a rehabilitation programme for the women, of which Khan was made executive director, in an effort to help them reintegrate into society. Temporary legislations to allow later abortions and an international adoption campaign for babies that had been abandoned were also passed.

The stories of these women were also documented by film-maker Leesa Gazi, a British-Bangladeshi actor and playwright in her documentary named ‘Rising Silence’. The documentary has won several awards to date.

Rape remains a tactic of fear used by the military to terrorise civilian populations and undermine their sense of dignity. In a recent study, the UN special envoy on sexual assault in conflict highlighted 12 militaries and police forces, 39 non-state entities, and 18 nations where women were being raped in battle.

Bangladesh has already been successful in obtaining genocide designation from the Lemkin Center for Genocide Prevention and Genocide Watch, and the US House has just presented a historic resolution recognizing that a genocide took place in 1971. The administration is currently pushing for the UN and the rest of the world to acknowledge that a genocide occurred during the liberation struggle.

Rahul Gandhi once again attacks a journalist for asking a question regarding his appeal in the defamation case

Days after rebuking a senior Congress beat journalist for asking a question, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was once again back at it as he attacked a journalist for asking a question about his defamation case. When questioned about BJP’s allegation that Rahul Gandhi is trying to pressurise judiciary in his defamation case, the Congress leader attacked the journalist instead of answering the question.

“Why do you always say what the BJP says?” asked Rahul Gandhi to the journalist, implying that the journalist is parroting BJP’s line even though it was a legitimate question about allegations of pressurising judiciary.

Commenting on the issue, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala said, “Once again this arrogant dynast Rahul Gandhi shoots the messenger. After Hawa Nikal Di jibe, now Rahul again attacks media for asking a legitimate question”. He further added, “Does this man have any idea how journalists do ask questions raised from one side to the other! That’s how media works. But this man is an entitled brat and his family has a history of censoring Media! First pressure judiciary now media Who do you think you are? This is a democracy, not your Raj Gharana”

Earlier, in March, Rahul Gandhi had attacked journalist Ravi Sisodia of CNN-News18 and called him a BJP stooge when he questioned him about his conviction in the ‘Modi surname’ case, adding that BJP has alleged that the remark was nothing short of an insult to the OBC and the socially oppressed classes of the country.

Rahul Gandhi asked the veteran journalist to wear a BJP symbol on his chest if he wanted to ask questions like that. He also said that the journalist should stop pretending to be a pressman if he was going to ask such questions.

“Aap itne directly BJP ke liye kyun kaam kar rahe ho, thoda discretion se karo yaar. Thoda ghoom ghaam kar poocho. (How is it that you are so openly working from BJP, do it with some discretion. Don’t pose such direct questions, be diplomatic), he said.

“Kyun hawa nikal gayi?” he further mocked the journalist.

Andhra Pradesh: Lord Ganesha’s ancient idol vandalized by miscreants in search of hidden treasure, BJP expresses anger, slams state

In a horrific incident, the idol of Lord Ganesha was vandalized by unidentified miscreants in one of Andhra Pradesh’s ancient Ganapati temples in Firangipuram, Guntur. The miscreants broke the stomach part of the idol and fled from the spot.

According to the One India report, the incident is said to have happened on the night of April 3. The miscreants entered the temple and vandalized the idol in search of some hidden treasure. The miscreants fled from the spot and left the broken idol at the temple after failing to locate the alleged treasure.

The information was made public by BJP State Secretary Vishnuvardhan Reddy who slammed the state government over similar repeated incidents. He shared the video of the vandalized idol of Lord Ganesh and expressed anger. He also said that no action has been taken by the state government over similar repeated attacks on the Hindu temples and idols.

Further, he demanded CM Jagan and DGP Rajendranath Reddy take strict action against those who vandalized the idol of Ganesha. Many Hindu temples in the state have faced vandalism and theft in recent months.

Last year in Andhra Pradesh, a Nandi idol in a prominent Shiva temple in Kanaparthi Village of the Prakasam district was vandalised. The incident occurred on the intervening night of October 16, Sunday, and October 17, 2022.

Also, in the year 2020, a 400-year-old murti of Sri Rama at Ramathirtha, Vizianagaram District was found vandalized and the head of the murti was found lying in the temple tank.
