Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali recounts how he would sledge all Indian players, except his co-religionist Mohammad Azharuddin

On Thursday (January 19), former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali recounted how he would sledge all Indian players, with the exception of ex-Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin.

He made the revelation during a live interaction with the latter on his Youtube channel. “Before every India match, I was given the responsibility to sledge the Indian players,” Basit Ali said.

“I was told to disturb Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Jadeja, Navjot Sidhu, Vinod Kambli, but the moment Azhar bhai’s name used to come, the entire team unanimously said no would disturb Azhar bhai,” he emphasised.

“Be it Wasim Akram bhai, Salim Malik, Rashid Latif, Inzmam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, they would no dare to sledge Azhar bhai. I don’t think any Pakistan player ever insulted Azhar bhai…I don’t have words to describe the amount of respect we used to have for Azhar bhai in our dressing room,” he added.

While Basit Ali claimed that the reason to not sledge his co-religionist was out of respect, Pakistani players have time and again invoked religion into the gentlemen’s sport and normalised communal bigotry.

Old video of ex-Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar goes viral

Earlier, a video of former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar, narrating stories of Islamic conversions of non-Muslims, went viral on social media.

In the said video, he was heard saying, “Mashallah, did you see how many people accepted Islam during the World cup? Allah has made it possible. (South African cricketer) Hashim Amla has made many people convert to Islam. Shahid Afridi knows it well.”

“An entire Hindu family became Muslim because of Hashim Amla. Mohammed Yousuf (earlier Yousuf Youhana) became the path to several conversions to Islam. Allah has bestowed all of you with talent…Do the work of Prophet Muhammad,” Saeed Anwar gloated.

The original video was first uploaded on the Youtube channel ‘The Preachers of Islam Official’ on December 16, 2022. The event appears to be the inauguration ceremony of a T10 league ‘Mega Stars League (MSL)’ that was launched by Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi last year.

VHP will not oppose Pathaan screening as filmmakers have made changes, to reconsider if anything objectionable found

On January 24, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) announced that as the filmmakers of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan have made changes as per directions of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), they will not oppose the screening of the film. However, they may reconsider if anything objectionable is left in the film.

VHP Gujarat spokesperson Ashok Rawal said, “After the Bajrang Dal’s protests against the Hindi film, Pathaan, the Censor Board has removed obscene lyrics and lewd words from the film, which is good news. I congratulate all workers and Hindu society for this successful struggle to protect religion and culture.”

News Agency ANI quoted VHP spokesperson Shriraj Nair saying, “For the time being, VHP will not oppose the film Pathaan. Keeping our earlier objections in mind, the changes made in the film are correct. After watching the film, if we find anything objectionable, we’ll reconsider opposing the film.”

Speaking to OpIndia, Nair said, “The filmmakers have made the changes under CBFC’s pressure. There is nothing left for us to oppose. We thank our workers and everyone who opposed the film for the objectionable content and built pressure on the filmmakers to make the changes. Now, it is up to the enlightened members of the Hindu community if they want to watch the movie or not.”

Notably, CBFC suggested changes in the film earlier this month, including in the controversial song Besharam Rang. Some of the dialogues were also asked to be changed in the film. VHP said, “The Censor Board, producers, and theatre owners are requested that, as an important part of the film industry, if they oppose such things keeping in mind the religion, culture and patriotism beforehand, the Bajrang Dal and other Hindu bodies will not have any objection.”

Pathaan was released in theatres on January 25, 2023. The film has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. First, the song Besharam Rang sparked controversy because of the sensual moves and saffron bikini that Deepika Padukone was wearing in the song. Later, it was criticised for allegedly copying scenes from Hollywood films.

The film is facing boycott calls on and off social media. Members of Bajrang Dal and other Hindu outfits have staged protests against Pathaan in several theatres across the country, including in Gujarat, Assam, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow building collapse: Samajwadi Party MLA Shahid Manzoor’s son detained

0

The Lucknow police arrested the son of a Samajwadi Party MLA following the collapse of a building in the city. The son and nephew of Samajwadi Party MLA from Kithore, Meerut, Shahid Manzoor, owned the apartment complex known as Alaya Apartment on Lucknow’s Hazratganj Wazir Hasan Road.

Nawazish, the son of Manzoor and a former minister, was apprehended late last night in Meerut and is currently being transported to Lucknow. The family of the SP leader has received notice and been forbidden from leaving the city.

A video of the arrest was released on twitter by MBS News.

The 12-unit apartment complex was constructed roughly 12 years ago. The majority of them were empty, and the ground-floor parking space was being worked on. People claim that the apartment is named after Alaya, the granddaughter of MLA Manzoor and the daughter of Nawazish.

The accident occurred at approximately 6.45 p.m. On Tuesday afternoon, vibrations from an earthquake were detected in Delhi and other parts of North India. Its magnitude was 5.8 on the Richter scale, and Nepal was where it originated.

The five-story building had no emergency exits and was erected on a roughly 4,000 square foot area. The rescue effort is being coordinated by the NDRF, the police, and the fire department.

Rescue operations are ongoing after a residential structure collapsed in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday, with three persons still possibly trapped beneath the rubble. Over the course of the last 14 hours, 14 people have been saved. Authorities are trying to determine the reason for the collapse.

The structure, built by a Yazdan builder, was purchased in 2009 by Shahid Manzoor’s nephew Mohammad Tariq and son Nawazish Manzoor for just Rs 20 lakh, a significant discount from the market price at the time of Rs 36.3 lakh.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, issued a statement in which his office said that hospitals have been placed on high alert and that rescue teams have been ordered to move quickly to discover survivors. Aid for the injured was also offered by the respected chief minister.

Brijesh Pathak, the state’s deputy chief minister, is in charge of organising local search and rescue operations.

Gujarat: Fake bride gang changes woman’s identity to trap Hindu men for marriage, runs away with money

0

A bizarre incident has come to light in Savarkundla, Amreli, Gujarat. A ‘bride gang’ has been arrested by the police. The gang was apparently working to trap Hindu men into marriage and ran away with their money.

As per reports, the women in the gang would hide their identity, attract Hindu men into marrying them and then running away with their money. As per the ABP report, DSP Haresh Vohra said the police have arrested three women and a man.

How the gang operated

Reports suggest that in October 2022, one Nikunj Madhvani came in contact with Kishore Mistri of Thordi village in Savarkundla. He arranged Madhvani’s wedding with a beautiful girl. Madhvani was unaware that Mistri was running the gang to cheat unmarried Hindu men. Mistri took Rs 1.7 lakh from Madhvani and got him married to a girl named Sejal. Her mother, Geeta and her friend Kajal were present at the wedding.

Eight days after the wedding, Sejal left home to visit her mother’s house but never returned. When Nikunj contacted Kishore Mistri, he kept giving excuses for days. After a few days of trying to contact her via Kishore, Nikunj attempted to trace Sejal himself. What he found out was shocking.

Sejal informed Nikunj that her real name was Muskaan and her mother’s name was Parveen. She further said that she had a kid too. Shocked by the reality of his wife, he filed a complaint of cheating at Savarkundla Police station.

Gang arrested in Surat

DSP Haresh Vohra acted on the complaint and led the team to investigate the matter. The police arrested the gang from Surat. Kishore Mistri, Sejal alias Muskaan, Parveen alias Geeta and Kajal were charged in the case.

Speaking to OpIndia, DSP Vohra said they also had a similar complaint in Dotali village. Kishore is in police remand, and it is being investigated if they had cheated someone else too. The police further urged the public that if there were other victims of the gang, they should come forward and file a complaint.

Bengaluru man who threw currency notes from flyover booked and detained, here is why he did it

0

In a bizarre incident on Tuesday, a man from Bengaluru threw a handful of currency notes from the KR Market flyover for an unusual reason and jammed the traffic below the flyover as people gathered to collect the showering currency notes below the bridge. The video of the incident went viral over social media showing the man throwing Rs 10 currency notes from the flyover.

According to the reports, the man dressed in a coat, carrying a clock hung from his neck, arrived on a two-wheeler and stopped on the flyover. He then started to throw Rs 10 currency notes from both sides of the flyover on the road below, causing people to stop and catch the money below the flyover. Reportedly, around 2000 notes in the denomination of Rs 10 were showered onto the road by the man. The Bengaluru Police were informed about the incident and detained the man identified as Arun V and interrogated him in the case. The Police stated that Arun V is a YouTuber, a host, and works as an employee of an event management company and he executed the act for attaining publicity.

“He appeared to be trying to establish himself as an event manager and was looking for publicity when he released video clips including the one where he is seen throwing a wad of currency notes from the flyover,” the Police said.

“During the inquiry, we found that he did it for promotion and publicity as he is an anchor and an event manager. He, along with his friend Satish, arrived this morning at the flyover and threw the money. He chose the location since it was a crowded place. The videos were also shared by him on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Bengaluru West, Laxman Nimbargi.

Arun meanwhile apologized for the act and insisted that he had valid reasons to execute the act. “I apologize for causing the traffic jam but my intentions for right. Give me some time… I will explain why I did that,” he said. The police also visited his house in Nagarbhavi and issued a notice for an offense leading to public nuisance. They said the man denied charges of being mentally unstable.

The police have filed an FIR against Arun, 30, and has detained him under sections 283 (danger or obstruction in a public way or line of navigation) and 290 (punishment for public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 92 (D) (punishment of certain street offenses and nuisance) of the Karnataka Police Act.

Leftist students at JNU push, shove, attack a journalist while reporting on BBC documentary on Modi screening: Watch

On Tuesday, several leftist students at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) assaulted a Janam TV journalist while he was reporting about the BBC documentary screening at the campus. The journalist who was attacked has been identified as Gowtham Narayanan and he is employed at a Malayalam news channel named Janam TV.

The video of the incident was shared by Janam TV on Twitter which said that the journalist and the cameraman who accompanied him were attacked by the leftist jihadis at the JNU campus. According to Janam TV, the duo was attacked by the leftist students while they were reporting about the illegal screening of the banned BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The reporter in the video could be seen pushed by the JNU student who later hit the former in the back. Meanwhile, other leftist students could be seen arguing with journalist Gowtham Narayanan after he posed a few questions about the illegal screening. The leftist students also raised slogans before they launched an attack on the journalist and the cameraman.

The controversy around the screening of a propaganda BBC documentary on the JNU campus heated up as the JNU administration allegedly cut power and internet connections at the student union’s office to stop the illegal screening of the banned documentary. On January 25, the leftist student body named JNU Student’s Union claimed that after the power supply was cut, stones were pelted at them by ABVP as some students gathered to watch BBC’s controversial docuseries on the 2002 Gujarat riots.

The students claimed that stones were hurled at them when they were watching the documentary on their mobile phones as the screening could not be held. ABVP on the other hand has refuted the accusations. Moreover, a senior police officer stated that no such incident was reported to the police.

The JNU administration on the other hand stated that there was a major power line fault that was being fixed. “There is a major power line fault at the university. We are looking into it. The engineering department is saying it will be resolved at the earliest,” the JNU administration said. Notably, the JNU administration had refused to permit the screening and had said that disciplinary action would be taken if the documentary was screened.

Earlier, a case was filed against the JNUSU for intending to show the banned documentary on the JNU campus. Last week, India denounced the controversial BBC documentary series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, described as a ‘propaganda piece’ designed to push a discredited narrative. “We think this is a propaganda piece designed to push a particular discredited narrative. The bias, lack of objectivity, and frankly continuing colonial mindset are blatantly visible,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said during a weekly media briefing.

Apart from JNUSU, many other student organizations at different universities attempted to show the BBC documentary. Earlier, Student Islamic Organisation (SIO) & Muslim Student Federation known as the Fraternity group at Hyderabad Central University (HCU) organized a screening of the BBC documentary inside the campus on Monday. More than 50 students from these groups attended the screening.

Also, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the ruling CPI(M) in Kerala, has announced that they will screen the controversial documentary on Tuesday evening in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram despite stiff opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Alt News’ Mohammed Zubair passes off Congress worker as the ‘voice of Kashmiri Hindus’ to attack The Kashmir Files film

On January 24, Alt News co-founder and alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair shared a video claiming that the woman speaking in the video represented the voice of Kashmiri Hindus. The woman in the video lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri for his film The Kashmir Files. The video was initially shared by the Vice Chairman of Jammu Kashmir National Conference’s Block Council, Dachnipora Umesh Talashi.

Both Talashi and Zubair failed to point out that the woman in the video was wearing a ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ tag that read ‘State Yatri’. For those who are unaware, ‘State Yatri’ is one of the designations given to Congress workers who are part of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. Those who have remained part of the journey from start to end have been named ‘Bharat Yatri’, and people from each state who have joined the journey just in their respective states have been named ‘State Yatri’. Those who are joining the journey for a few hours or a short span have been named ‘Guest Yatri’, for example, former RBI chief Raghuram Rajan.

State Yatri may vary from 100 to 150 depending on the state. If the lady who talked to the reporter has a ‘State Yatri’ tag, that means she is among the selected State functionaries of the Congress party. Furthermore, when we checked the channel that published the video, it was evidently a pro-Congress and anti-BJP YouTube channel. All that information was hidden while sharing the video.

Twitter user Ankur Singh who goes by the Twitter handle @iAnkurSingh, pointed out how Zubair had previously hit out at BJP when one of its functionaries was designated as a social worker on a TV debate. He wrote, “This Mohammed Zubair does fact checks when a channel doesn’t mention ‘BJP Worker’ to panellists. But himself is showing a Congress worker as the voice of Kashmiri Pandits. The woman is wearing Congress’ State Yatri’ ID Card, which has the Congress flag in the background.”

Ankur shared a screenshot of Zubair’s tweet from January 20, 2023, where he pointed out how BJP member Alpana Chouhan was mentioned as Social Worker in a TV debate. However, when he shared the video against Kashmir Files, Zubair mentioned the lady in the video as “Kashmiri Pandit”.

Advocate Ashutosh Dubey also pointed out the same. He said, “The funny aspect is that they are clearly not ordinary Kashmiri Pandits because they are holding the flag of the Congress party in the background.”

Author Anshul Pandey said, “Congress flag in the back says it all!”

Pallavi CT, Co-convenor BJP Mumbai – IT and SM Cell, said, “Dear, you call yourself a Fact Checker but can’t see that this “Kashmiri Pandit” lady is the wife of a leader from Congress Minority Cell (can’t you see Congress Flag?). Congis RIGGED 1987 polls & released 70 hardcore P@k trained militants that lead to 1990 Kashmiri Hindu genocide.”

Propaganda against The Kashmir Files

Since its release, The Kashmir Files by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has faced a lot of opposition. While the film was accepted with open arms by the viewers and it became one of the highest-grossing films of 2022, a large section of media including BBC, NDTV and others called it a propaganda film and claimed it was fiction.

Pakistan’s former minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary arrested for threatening election officials and their family members

0

On Wednesday, January 25, Islamabad Police arrested Pakistan’s former information minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhary for threatening members of the country’s Election Commission and their families. Reportedly, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Chaudhary.

The Islamabad police have confirmed the arrest of Fawad Chaudhry. A case was registered against Chaudhary last night at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad on the complaint of Election Commission Secretary Umar Hameed, Geo News reported.

Citing Islamabad police sources, the report said Chaudhry was arrested from his residence near Thokar Niyaz Baig in Lahore. The sources further revealed that Chaudhry will be taken to Islamabad, as reported by ANI.

The PTI leader and former minister has been booked under sections 153-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief), and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

This comes after Chaudhary had claimed that the Shehbaz Sharif-led government was planning to get PTI chief and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan arrested. As the rumors spread, in the early hours of Wednesday, party leaders and workers flocked to his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park.

Fawad warned the ECP, its members, and their families in his speech outside Imran Khan’s house in Lahore, according to the FIR.

During a media interaction, Chaudhary said, “We are warning the election commission, its members and their families that if atrocities will be committed against us then you will have to pay for the string of atrocities you commit. Keep this in writing, we have been patient and cautious but this cannot continue like this.”

According to the FIR, Chaudhary claimed that the election commission had been downgraded to the status of a “Munshi or clerk”.

Chaudhary said that those who join the caretaker administration will be chased down and punished. He had stated that those in government positions would be pursued to their homes.

Fawad Chaudhary was taken to Cantt court from Lahore. Taking to Twitter Shireen Manzari, a PTI member shared the video of Chaudhary being taken to court and wrote “Fawad being taken from CTD Lahore to Cantt court. One unarmed politician abducted in early hours today now being escorted by this huge contingent. Mohsin Naqvi doesn’t waste time to show his virulent hatred of PTI & also do his Masters bidding. Disgusting.”

The Islamabad Police brought Chaudhary before the court seeking a transitory remand to take the former federal minister to Islamabad.

Rajasthan: Parents throw their infant daughter into a canal because the father wanted to secure his ‘govt job’

0

In a shocking incident in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, a couple was arrested after they threw their infant daughter into a canal on Sunday, in a bid to secure a government job.

The accused identified as Jhanwarlal worked as a school assistant on a contract (Samvida) basis at Chandasar village. He was hopeful of getting a permanent job, however, as per Rajasthan’s contractual hiring rules, a person is not deemed eligible for permanent appointment in public service if she or he has more than two children on or after 1-06-2002.

Jhanwarlal had in December given an affidavit of having two children. However, he feared that he will not be able to get a permanent appointment at his job after his third daughter was born. On Sunday, at around 5 PM, the accused couple Jhanwarlal and Gita threw their daughter Anshika into the Indira Gandhi Nahar Project (IGNP) in Chattargarh. The nearby locals yelled and rushed to save the baby girl, but she could not be saved, and her parents were able to escape on a bike.

Jhanwarlal (36) and Gita had four children, one of their daughters has been formally adopted by Jhanwarlal’s brother, as per reports. Accused Jhanwarlal’s brother has claimed that his brother did not deliberately throw his daughter into the canal adding that it was an accident.

Speaking about the incident Yogesh Yadav, the superintendent of police (SP), informed that Jhanwarlal had involved his wife in his crime. Two days prior, he had visited his brother-in law’s home Chattargarh. The girl was thrown into the canal on Sunday night as the accused was returning to Diyatara from his brother-in- law’s house in Char CHD then from there he departed for Diyatara.

Circle Officer Vinod Kumar said that a baby girl’s parents threw their daughter in a canal in Chattargarh, Bikaner. The dead body of the deceased girl was recovered. CO Kumar added that both the accused have been arrested.

Locals who witnessed the couple throwing their daughter into the canal informed the police and tried to revive the girl, but it was already too late for the infant.

Upon getting information about the incident, a blockade was done in Chhattargarh and Khajuwala area. The couple’s bike was stopped by Mukesh Kumar, a trainee sub-inspector in Khajuwala. When questioned, Jhanwarlal replied, “We have come to my brother-in-law’s house.” On suspicion, SI Mukesh Kumar took a picture of the accused couple, the bike, and Jhanwarlal’s Aadhaar card. Following this, the trainee SI allowed them to go. When the senior police officials came to know about this, they investigated Jhanwarlal’s whereabouts in Diyatara. The couple was later taken into custody.
