22 countries sign a letter condemning Chinese oppression of Muslims, Islamic countries missing from the list

In what is hailed as an ‘unprecedented’ letter, 22 countries around the world have signed a letter condemning the Chinese subjugation of its Muslim population. However, what is truly surprising is the absence of Muslim countries on the list.

Not a single Islamic country is a signatory to this letter, which attempts to draw the world’s attention over the alleged atrocities committed by the Chinese.

In the letter, written by UN Human Rights Council member states, the signatories have exhorted China to stop maltreatment of Uighur Muslims in the detention centres. They have urged China to put an end to the inhumane restrictions placed on them, preventing them from following their religion.

The 22 signatories include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. However, none of the countries from the Islamic world deemed it important to be a signatory to the letter and extend their solidarity with their fellow co-religionists against oppressive China.

Uighurs are a Turkish-Muslims ethnic group living in Xinjiang, the largest and most western of China’s administrative regions surrounded by Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. The Xinjiang autonomous region in China has had a long history of discord between the authorities and the indigenous ethnic Uighur population.

China is facing opprobrium from the United Nations for pursuing harsh policies against the Uighur Muslim population in Xinjiang. Damning reports blaming Beijing of interning members of its Muslim population – by “re-educating” them away from their faith have emerged. It is believed that China has resorted to this measure to curb riots and violent attacks the government has endured at the hands of Muslim separatists in the Xinjiang province.

In these detention centres, Uighur Muslims are allegedly compelled to unlearn their traditions, pan their Islamic practices and extend their loyalty to Xi Jinping’s Communist Party. Many Islamic countries such as Pakistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia, who are otherwise at the forefront of taking up the cudgel to defend atrocities against Muslims have kept mum against China. Possibly because China has either been aggressively investing in these countries or bailing them out of their economic crisis.

Hate crimes against Hindus and how Muslim women and minors are often equal participants: Here are some examples

A wise man once opined, “Fist time is chance, the second time is a coincidence, third is a pattern.” In recent times, a pattern has certainly emerged in the series of hate crimes committed against Hindus.

It would serve the interests of the secular establishment if we bury our heads in the sand. However, turning our eyes away from reality doesn’t alter facts in any manner. Therefore, It is of paramount importance that we recognize the pattern that is staring at our eyes and take effective measures to counter it.

Swati Goel Sharma, a journalist with Swarajya Mag, alluded to it in a recent tweet.

In an earlier article, we had alluded to a pattern in hate crimes and called it ‘community crimes‘. Such crimes usually involve the participation of the larger society. A disturbing pattern that has emerged in such crimes is the participation of women and minors of the Muslim community.

There were signs of it when Ankit Saxena was murdered by his Muslim girlfriend’s family in February 2018. Her mother had rammed her scooter into Ankit’s vehicle at a traffic intersection forcing him to step out of it. Eventually, others of the family arrived and the girl’s father slit his throat with a butchering knife.

In May, this year, a Muslim mob had attacked the owners of a Hindu Lassi shop in Mathura, near the iconic Krishna Janambhoomi Temple. It, too, involved a woman. A Burqa-clad woman, following a minor tiff, brought along with her a bloodthirsty mob who attacked the shop-owners. According to a report by Swati Goel Sharma, the Muslim mob attacked the brothers on the instructions from the burqa-clad woman who addressed the shop-owners as ‘Kaafirs’ while goading on the mob to attack them. One person died in the violence.

In the case mentioned in the above-linked tweet by Swati Goel Sharma, a Maulvi in Kanpur, Javed, allegedly raped a 15-year old girl in a Madrassa. His maternal aunt and daughter taught children at the very same Madrassa, they reportedly knew that the minor girl was being raped by the Maulvi and yet, did not come to her aid. The girl’s aunt apparently called the mother to take the money and remain silent. The girl’s family was facing hostility from people in the community as well.

Not too long ago, businessman Dhruv Tyagi was murdered by a Muslim father-son duo after he went to their home to complain about their son who had molested his daughter. The weapon with which Tyagi was murdered, a butcher’s knife, was provided by Jehangir Khan’s wife and daughter. Not only was he murdered, his body was mutilated, fingernails were ripped out and teeth were broken.

In the Aligarh child murder case, one Muslim woman was also arrested as the child’s body was found wrapped in her dupatta. Her husband Zahid is the prime accused in the case that shook the soul of the nation.

Recently, in Rajasthan, a Muslim mob that consisted of many women attacked an RSS shakha at Boondi and thrashed the children present as well. The children were chased mercilessly by the mob and beaten brutally.

Numerous juveniles have been involved in such hate crimes as well. Even in the Ankit Saxena murder case, the Police had arrested a minor for the murder. In the Hauz Qazi Temple Desecration incident, at least 7 juveniles have been arrested thus far. They were urged by others to participate in the crime after which they indulged in hooliganism totally.

Perhaps the most heinous incident surfaced in December, last year when three juveniles claimed that they were instigated by a Maulvi to rape a minor child. They had manipulated a 5-year old to accompany them to a secluded area along with her brothers who were younger than her. The little girl was later found naked by relatives.

In another shocking incident, a 10-year was raped by a Maulvi in tandem with a juvenile in April 2018. It was the juvenile who took the little girl to the Maulvi. They would assault the girl sexually and lock her up in a room. If people were under the impression that this incident could not get any more shocking, they were in for a rude shock. Certain people from the Muslim community took to Twitter demanding that the minor be married off to her rapist and deemed the entire matter a ‘love affair’.

Thus, a pattern emerges where sections of the population which are perceived to be at less risk of committing crimes often participate enthusiastically in crimes. Of course, a wider range of data is necessary to conclusively establish the pattern as normal. However, the cases here mentioned is evidence enough of the fact that the perceptions we have of the Muslim community are not entirely accurate.

In at least two case listed above, a religious preacher of the community either instigated minors to commit rape or participated in rape along with a minor. In another instance, a minor was involved in a murder along with his family which was motivated by religious bigotry. In the Hauz Qazi Temple desecration incident, numerous minors have been arrested. It also appears extremely likely that in the numerous instances of mob violence across cities, minors from the Muslim community were involved.

Muslim women, too, appear to be perfectly willing to indulge in hate crimes against Hindus. They often are active participants in the crimes. Their consent can be also gauged from the fact that not a single woman from the community has made any effort to report people from their own community when they have indulged in mob violence. Thus, it’s of critical importance that we do not consider Muslim women as victims of an ‘Islamic Patriarchy’ because quite clearly, they do not perceive themselves as such.

The juveniles are the only section, perhaps, that could be considered ‘victims’ by any stretch of the imagination. They grow up in circumstances where religious bigotry is extremely normalized and thus, emulate the behaviours of the elders of the community.

The Indian State’s policies are based on the assumption that the Muslim community could be reformed by educating its women. However, there doesn’t appear to be any evidence that suggests the possibility of success. Quite clearly, large sections of Muslim women are as invested in religious bigotry as significant sections of the men are. Thus, such a strategy by the Indian State is akin to chasing fool’s gold.

To believe that terrorists in Kashmir have been able to wage war against the Indian State without the active support of Muslim women would take an inordinate amount of incredulity. Asiya Andrabi, one of the faces of Kashmiri terror, is a woman. So is Mehbooba Mufti who actively encourages separatists and speaks the language of Pakistan.

It again highlights the necessity to understand the power structures that bind Muslim society. Although men are at the top of the hierarchy, women are very much motivated to ensure that the hierarchy isn’t threatened. Human history is a story of cooperation between the two sexes, not antagonism. Therefore, the Muslim community ought to be viewed in the same manner.

The greatest factor that makes the reformation of the Muslim community so difficult is the overwhelming power that Maulvis and the Maulanas enjoy. And unfortunately, most people from the clerical structure are entirely corrupted. In this article, we saw two articles that highlight this fact. In a separate article, we will document all the heinous crimes that have been committed by Islamic clerics.

A Muslim woman is as likely as Muslim man to follow the diktats of the clerics. Juveniles, obviously, are more likely to do so. Therefore, until and unless the power structures within the community are broken, a reformation is essentially impossible.

Karnataka crisis: To keep its flock together, desperate Congress once again takes recourse in ‘resort politics’

The 13-month old Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka has been passing through a critical situation for a while now. In an attempt to keep its flock together, Congress has now decided to move its MLAs to Clarks Exotica Convention Resorts in Bengaluru. It has been reported that Congress MLAs will be moved to the resort after the assembly proceedings.

Amidst allegation by Congress that BJP is behind the political turmoil, which has engulfed the state of Karnataka, it has emerged that state unit of BJP is also shifting its MLA Ramada Hotel in Bengaluru.

Today, the Supreme Court (SC) heard the matter of rebel Karnataka MLAs and ordered the speaker to maintain the status quo regarding the resignation and disqualification of 10 rebel MLAs. The apex court postponed the hearing to July 16.

Chief Minister (CM) HD Kumaraswamy today declared he intends to seek a trust vote in the assembly in the current session. CM’s decision to seek a trust vote in the assembly came just an hour after the Supreme Court’s order.

The political crisis in Karnataka:

The ongoing political drama in Karnataka surfaced on July 6, 2019, when a total of 16 MLAs including 13 from Congress and 3 from JDS resigned from the Congress-JDS government. In addition to these MLAs, two independents MLAs, who were made ministers, also decided to withdraw support from the coalition government. However, On July 9, Karnataka state assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar rejected the resignations. Since then, five more MLAs have also resigned.

Anticipating that BJP would move a trust vote, Congress on Monday shifted its MLAs to the Prestige Golfshire in Devanahalli, about 40 km from capital Bengaluru. On July 9, the JD(S) MLAs who were huddled up at Prestige Golfshire Club were asked by CM Kumaraswamy to stay there for four more days in the wake of deepening political crisis.

‘Resort Politics’ has become routine now:

This sort of ‘resort politics’ has somehow become a routine with the Indian political parties. Congress that is especially sceptical over the loyalty of its MLAs, frequents this method of hiding them in resorts to ‘save’ them from being poached.

In Karnataka, ever since the 2018 polls threw up a fractured mandate, MLAs have regularly been packed off to various resorts. This has been done on occasions when they are required to vote together. They’re later brought back on the D-day.

In January 2019, ahead of a crucial CLP meeting, Congress had packed off 76 of its 80 lawmakers to the Eagleton resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru amidst the rumours of few Congress MLAs deciding to quit the party to support BJP in forming the state government. Congress had, back then, feared their ministers would be poached by BJP.

Similarly, ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Gujarat Congress had decided to send its MLAs to Mount Abu in Rajasthan. Fearing cross-voting and ship jumping, the MLAs had been herded in a luxury bus and sent to the resort.

Congress had then denied the exercise being an act of fear. It had claimed it to be a 1-day ‘Shivir’ for “understanding the technicalities of voting in the Rajya Sabha.” The bus, however, did not reach Mount Abu. Instead, it was taken to another resort in Banaskantha. As per reports, 61 of the 71 Congress MLAs had been sent in the luxury bus to Banaskantha resort.

In 2017 too, Congress had sent its MLAs in Gujarat to Karnataka’s famous Eagleton resort; the golf resort in Bidadi, which is a favourite destination for Congress MLAs. That time, it was all done to apparently save Ahmed Patel’s Rajya Sabha seat.

Out-on-bail-Gandhi: Rahul Gandhi gets bail in the 6th case against him, 1 more to go next week

Today Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by an Ahmedabad court in a defamation case. The case was filed by the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank and its chairman Ajay Patel. The defamation suit was filed after the Congress president had alleged that the bank was involved in a scam of swapping ₹749.59 crore of scrapped ₹500 and ₹1000 banknotes during the demonetisation done by the previous Modi government. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party had alleged that the Cooperative bank had exchanged more cash than other cooperative banks in the state because Amit Shah is one of the directors of the bank.

Appearing at the court today, Rahul Gandhi applied for bail in the criminal defamation case, which was granted by the court on a bond of ₹15,000. The court had issued summons to Rahul Gandhi and Randeep Singh Surjewala after finding prima facie evidence against them in the case under section 202 of CRPC.

Rahul Gandhi is facing numerous defamation cases across the country, and he has been summoned by various courts in those cases. As most of them are criminal defamation cases, he will have to take bail in them also while the courts hear the cases.

On 6th July last week, Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by a Patna court in another defamation case. This case was filed by BJP leader and Bihar Deputy for his comments saying “all Modis are thieves”.

Before that on July 4th, he was granted bail by a Mumbai court in a defamation case filed by an RSS worker. This case was filed for his remark linking Gauri Lankesh’s killing with the “BJP-RSS ideology”. The bail was granted on a surety amount of ₹15,000.

In November 2016, Bhiwandi court in Maharashtra had granted bail to Gandhi in another case filed by another RSS worker. The case was filed after Rahul Gandhi had said during an election rally that RSS had killed Mahatma Gandhi. Even the Supreme Court had slammed him for such ‘collective’ comment, and had ruled that he will have to face trial and prove his point in the court.

A Guwahati court also gave bail to Rahul Gandhi in yet another defamation case by RSS. The bail was granted on a bond of ₹50,000 in September 2016. The case was filed after Rahul Gandhi had lied that he was prevented by RSS from entering the Barpeta Satra in Assam in December 2015.

The most well-known case where the former Congress president is out on bail is the National Herald case. Rahul Gandhi along with his mother Sonia Gandhi was granted bail in December 2015 in the case pursued by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on a personal bond of ₹50,000.

Rahul Gandhi is facing another defamation case for his ‘All Modis are thieves’ comment in a Surat court. The court has summoned him to appear in the court on 16th July. It is likely that he will get another bail next when he appears in the court and pleads not guilty.

As Rahul Gandhi has pleaded not guilty in all the cases against him, he will have to face trial in all of them. And as the condition of the bail in most of the cases is that he will have personally appear in the court, he will have to attend lots of court hearings in the coming days when the courts take up the cases for trial.

It may be noted that in 2015, Rahul Gandhi, Subramanian Swamy and Arvind Kejriwal had filed separate petitions in the Supreme Court against the validity of criminal defamation law. But the Supreme Court had rejected those petitions in 2016.

Congress now a party rallying for BJP: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan mocks Congress over mass resignations

As Congress deals with its existential crisis, the Kerala chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan today, mocked the grand old party as its party representatives and leaders from various states join the BJP.

Taking a jibe on the switching over of Congress MLAs to the BJP camp in different states Pinarayi claimed that the Congress has now become a party rallying for the BJP. He said, “The Congress is changing themselves to increase the membership of the BJP and the party is in an extremely pathetic state at present.”

Reiterating CPMs earlier claim that the Congressmen cannot be trusted, the Kerala CM said that the current scenario is proof to what his party had said earlier. “We cannot say when Congress will shift stands. The money flowing into the BJP has no bounds. There are many who wag their tails and follow if allured”, claimed the CM.

The chief minister also criticised the mass resignations taking place in Congress. When the nation is in such a despicable situation can a party like the Congress afford to remain an orphan? he asked, asserting that the leadership must be ready to face the challenges and not accept victories alone.

The communist government has lately not been sharing an amicable relationship with the grand old party. When the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi had chosen to contest from Wayanad in Kerala in the 2018 Lok Sabha elections, the Communists had then to, taken offence. They were miffed with Congress party’s decision to fight against them in Kerala. Pinarayi Vijayan had admonished the then Congress President for the move. In fact, CPI(M) mouthpiece had also published an editorial firing the ‘Pappu’ jibe at the Congress supremo.

It asserted that the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi Parivar was afraid of a defeat in Amethi. “If the Congress wanted to fight fascism, then Rahul should contest against the BJP not Left Front. By contesting in Kerala which historically supports either Congress-led government or Left Front, Rahul is conveying a message that his party’s main opposition is Left government instead of BJP,” it had said.

“The fight can be viewed as nothing but a wet cracker. To put it in a flowery manner, the Congress move is a Pappu strike. This will make the party’s destruction complete,” said the editorial’s conclusion.

As the first water-train arrives in Chennai, politicians make it wait for photo-ops and ribbon cutting

Today, Indian Railways successfully delivered 25 lakh litres of water to drought-hit Chennai. The water was delivered using 50 wagons from Jolarpettai station in Vellore district to Villivakkam in Chennai. This special arrangement would continue until the water crisis in Tamil Nadu is resolved.

Reportedly, the water would be shifted from the wagons to the Kilpauk pumping station from where it would be distributed further. All pipeline arrangements have been readied. Yesterday, workers were busy laying the pipelines between the tracks for a distance of nearly 700km.

Each of the 50 wagons has a capacity of 50,000 litres. As per reports, the train would make trips every day to meet the target of 10 million litres.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami had earlier allocated a sum of Rs 65 crore to transport 10 million litres of water daily by rail from Jolarpettai.

As per Times Now, ministers had caused a delay in delivering the water. The train had arrived at 11:30 am but the ministers had forced them to wait as they were yet to arrive and inaugurate the water train.

The ministers finally arrived at about 3 pm for the inauguration.

For a few months now, the Chennai city has been reeling under acute water shortage after four major reservoirs have completely dried up. Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, had also posted a message on Instagram, sharing his concern for the ongoing water crisis in Tamil Nadu’s capital.

When the move to bring water in from Vellore was first announced, one DMK leader had threatened to protest against the move. On the contrary, DMK, was, at the same time protesting against the state government. The party holds the state government responsible for the current water crisis.

I did not try to force my way into the World Cup squad on the eve of the tournament: AB de Villiers

South African cricketer AB de Villiers has issued a clarification regarding the controversy around him for allegedly having demanded to play for the South African cricket team in the World Cup 2019. He posted the clarification on his Twitter account today.

De Villiers who had announced his retirement in May 2018 said he did not demand to be included in the South African team before the World Cup. He clarified during his private conversation with his school friend and cricketer Faf du Plessis, he had merely offered to be available if required.

He said since South African cricket team is out of the World cup race and will not be distracted by this disclosure, so he has decided to speak up against the unjustified criticism against him. De Villiers asserted he did not try to force his way into the World Cup team nor did he expect to be included. He alleged that contents of his private conversation with Plessis were suddenly revealed to the media after the Proteas lost to India. This was done to cast him in the worst possible light. He clarified that his private conversation was neither leaked by Plessis nor him.

De Villiers further added that he was unfairly called as arrogant, selfish and indecisive but his conscience was clear. He concluded by extending his support for the South African cricket team. He said he would remain available for the team for support and assistance.

Facing backlash, India Today removes Hinduphobic statement of Hauz Qazi march being ‘marred’ with Jai Shri Ram slogans

After facing severe flak from many readers for promoting hatred towards Hindus by stating that Unity March in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi was ‘marred’ with Jai Shri Ram slogans, the India Today group has retracted from its stance and have removed the Hinduphobic statement.

India Today in its report on the Unity March that happened in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi neighbourhood, said that the procession was ‘marred’ with slogans of Jai Shri Ram. The march was organised after a trifle parking row escalated into a communal flare-up leading to the desecration of a Hindu temple by a Muslim mob and the subsequent vandalisation of idols in the temple.

The assertion that a spiritually edifying chant of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ vitiates the atmosphere and fuels the communal tensions is a highly controversial and unacceptable contention and it betrays the deep-seated hatred against Hindus harboured by media outlets. However, after objection raised by many readers alleging that it vilified Hinduism, India Today seems to have amended the report and removed the Hinduphobic statement.

Already the mainstream media had gone overboard in hushing up the temple vandalism matter and giving communal mob of Muslims a free pass. Most of the media organisations had published an image of Muslims serving food to Hindus at the event as a symbol of communal harmony. However, the Hindu activists contrasted the claim made by these media outlets and asserted that the Muslims were there only for photo-ops.

The media houses also showed an astonishing insensitivity towards the Hindu sentiments when they called newly installed ‘Murtis’ in the temple as ‘Statues’. Hindus accord the highest of regards for the ‘Murtis’ as they embody their Gods and Goddesses. To reduce them to mere statues shows the media’s disregard for  Hindu beliefs.

Why Smriti Irani deserves our respect for Child Pornography Bill

Paedophilia, or to treat children as sex objects, is rampant around you and please don’t be disgusted by the suggestion. And this is exactly wht Smriti Irani needs to be hailed for the Child Pornography Bill.

If you are a man, you are likely to troll me on twitter if I told you paedophiles are gender-specific and there is even a film, Are All Men Pedophiles, which has been critically acclaimed.

Still unconvinced? A fan of Michael Jackson? Go to YouTube and look for Pedophilia content available. Not only a few have generated millions of views but–put it to the disgusting times we live in–this content is supported by some of the biggest brands on the planet.

Most Indian newspapers today have taken note of the new bill—Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Amendment Bill 2019—which would be introduced in the Lok Sabha this week. But the coverage is passing, a token display of news, rather than a 360 degree view and a standing ovation to Women and Child Development minister Ms. Smriti Irani whose initiative in this regard would protect your or mine child.

The Child Pornography Bill is specific: “Any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving a child which include photographs, video, digital or computer-generated image indistinguishable from an actual child and an image created, adapted or modified but appear to depict a child.”

So those who watch, possess or circulate animations or cartoons that depict a minor to satisfy their depraved cravings, do it at your own peril. The punishment involves five-fold increase in fines and even imprisonment.

So far, neither Section 67 of the IT Act nor Section 293 of the Indian Penal Code defined child pornography. This new initiative is borne out of the resolve of zero tolerance for child pornography.

Coming back to YouTube, type “Girl Yoga” and the auto-complete option is likely to throw up “hot”. Enter “twister girl” and the suggestion includes “twister girl in skirt.” These videos would have millions of views, thousands of comments, and hundreds of time-stamps recommendations for fellow sick individuals. Phone numbers are exchanged,  promises of WhatsApp video swaps are made. Jerks talk of how one such video makes his “wood” grow. The video uploaders make hay, so do YouTube, as there are pre-roll adverts from the likes of Fiat, L’Oreal, Maybelline and SingleMuslim.com etc. In essence, money made in filth on young unprotected lives.

Most videos are of little girls—doing gymnastics, eating ice-lollies are playing in the pool. Their exposed buttocks or nipples or crotch are getting tens of thousands of views and depraved comments. YouTube says it has zero tolerance for such stuff but neither their algorithms nor ingenuous uploaders are being reined in. Advertisers too say they are outraged but that’s about it. Further, if you watch one video, there are dozens of similar recommended by YouTube. Same is the case with Microsoft “Bing” or WhatsApp though both assert they have zero-tolerance on the issue.

Innocent children are increasingly the target of these monsters in our neighbourhood. Psychologists say children are cognitively, emotionally and socially less developed than an adult and could face life-time scar.

A few statistics to drive home the sordid point and reiterate the importance of the Child Pornography Bill.

(a)   Paedophilia, as per stats, is exploding in the United States and showing a 2500 per cent increase since last decade;

(b)   Two-thirds of sex criminals are paedophiles;

(c)    The US Justice Department feels there are nearly 3 lakh such vulnerable kids at the mercy of paedophiles/pornographers;

In India, hold your breath, paedophilia actually bloats up our tourism industry. Despite governments, NGOs and other bodies, child abuse is rampant in India. Over 35 million children are homeless in India. The National Women’s Commission is on record that almost 80 per cent of the child prostitutes in the country come from Bangalore. The coastal areas in Calangute, Candolin and Baga in Goa are paedophiles’ den. Kovalam in Kerala and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu suffer from the same malaise.

It’s been a generation since Freddy Peats, an Anglo-Indian, caught headlines in 1991 for forcing young boys into homosexual activities. Investigations revealed he was running a paedophile den and catering mainly to German tourists. Nobody has forgotten Sunil Rastogi, allegedly world’s worst paedophile, who confessed to having sex with over 500 children and a fetish for “virgins.”

Court allows Rajasthan police to reopen cow smuggling case against Pehlu Khan’s sons

A court in Alwar Rajasthan granted permission to the Rajasthan police to further investigate the case of cow smuggling against a truck operator and the two sons of Pehlu Khan who was allegedly lynched for illegally transporting cattle in 2017. The police had filed a plea before the court to investigate the cow smuggling case.

“Court has accepted a plea by the police to do further investigation in a cow smuggling case”, said the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Alwar. “Pehlu Khan’s son Irshad had submitted an application to DGP Rajasthan demanding an impartial probe in the case. Following that the police moved an application in the court for investigation and today court has given its nod”, he added.

Pehlu Khan, a resident of Nuh in Haryana, was allegedly beaten to death on the Delhi-Alwar highway two years ago for illegal cattle smuggling. A case of murder was registered by the Rajasthan police soon after Khan’s death. The police had also initiated an investigation into the cattle smuggling case.

Recently, a charge sheet was filed by Rajasthan police against Pehlu Khan’s sons charging him under sections 5, 7 and 9 of the Rajasthan Bovine Animals (Prohibition of Slaughter and Regulation of Temporary Migration or Export), Act, 1995. On receiving flak upon the filing of the charge sheet by the Rajasthan police, CM Gehlot had lied and said that Pehlu Khan’s name was not there in the charge sheet.
