AAP MLA Alka Lamba expresses sadness over not being invited to Delhi CM’s event in her own constituency

AAP MLA Alka Lamba, who in the past has shown signs of disenchantment with Aam Aadmi Party and its chief Arvind Kejriwal has today once again lamented on Twitter that she is being deliberately ignored by the party and the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Lamba has conveyed her disappointment for not being invited for the laying of foundation-stone for one of the projects in her constituency of Chandni Chowk in Delhi.

Expressing her grief on Twitter, Lamba said in a tweet, ” It is understandable that I’m sidelined in the party but is it right to keep an MLA detached from the government activities? Today, in my assembly constituency, CM Arvind Kejriwal is going to come to lay the foundation stone for one of the projects, but far from printing my name in the card, he didn’t even felt the need to invite me for the function, this is a grave insult of my people.”

This is not the first time that Alka has expressed her disgruntlement with the AAP supremo. The rift between the top mandarins of the Aam Aadmi Party and MLA Alka Lamba has been widening for some time now. A few months back, Lamba had bemoaned that the Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had unfollowed her on Twitter and that she was unceremoniously removed from the official Whatsapp group.

Before that, in December last year, MLA Alka Lamba was reportedly asked to resign from the Aam Aadmi Party over a resolution that was presented in the Delhi Assembly on December 21. Alka Lamba had said that she had protested against an alleged proposal to revoke Bharat Ratna awarded to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

In a massive self goal Congress leader in Lok Sabha questions PM Modi for not sending Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to jail

Congress party is like a joke which writes itself. The party’s leader in the 17th Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today questioned Prime Minister Modi on his ‘unfulfilled promises’. In a massive self-goal, Chowdhury asked Prime Minister Modi on whether he has managed to send Congress President and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and his mother, former Congress President and Raebareli MP Sonia Gandhi to jail over corruption allegations.

He asked PM Modi whether he was able to ‘catch anybody’ in the 2G and coal allocation scam. He further told the Prime Minister that he came to power by calling Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and those leaders who were accused in the 2G and coal scams as thieves, “then how are they sitting in the Parliament?”

Chowdhury was speaking at the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah set to table Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will table the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha today. This bill will be the first legislative business of the BJP president in Parliament after his election to the Lok Sabha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak in the house regarding the significance of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill. The new bill, if passed in Parliament will replace the existing Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019.

Earlier on February 28, the Union Cabinet had approved ‘The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019’ and it was cleared by President Ram Nath Kovind.

The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019 amends the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, which provides for reservation in appointment and admission in professional institutions for persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and socially and educationally backward classes.

The original Act provided for reservation in appointment to state government posts to persons belonging to socially and educationally backward classes. The Act defined socially and educationally backward classes to include persons living in areas adjoining the Actual Line of Control. The amendment will bring changes to the Act to include those persons living in areas adjoining International Border, within the ambit of this reservation making them par with people living near LoC.

Further, the Act states that any person who has been appointed on the basis of residence in an area adjoining the Line of Control must serve in such areas for at least seven years. The new bill extends this condition to persons living in areas adjoining the International Border as well.

The bill is also aimed at replacing the ordinance to provide 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections in Jammu and Kashmir. The passing of the bill in parliament will pave the way for reserving state government jobs to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir who are from economically weaker sections belonging to any religion or caste.

The 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections was introduced in rest of the country through the 103rd Constitution Amendment in January 2019.

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, BJP President Amit Shah had asserted that the BJP government would scrap Article 370 of the Constitution which allows Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution, flag as well as the right to implement its own laws, except on issues that pertain to national security.

Apart from that, the BJP had also emphasised in its manifesto that it will also scrap Article 35 which allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define permanent residents of the state and permits the J-K government to exclude outsiders from owning property and availing the benefits from the government.

Bengali Superstar Nachiketa mocks ‘Dada’ and ‘Didimoni’ in viral song as Trinamool suffers ‘Cut Money’ crisis

One of the biggest stars of the Bengali music industry, Nachiketa Chakraborty, penned a song over the ‘cut money’ crisis that Trinamool Congress is currently gripped with. The song in which Nachiketa appears to be mocking Mamata Banerjee and her party for perpetuating a bribe culture has gone viral on social media.

In the song, Nachiketa asks corrupt politicians to return the money they have taken as bribes as their time of reckoning was drawing near. However, he doesn’t take any names. Nachiketa has a reputation for being a maverick and has released songs in the past as well mocking the political fraternity.

The song was shared by BJP MP from Asansol and Union Minister, Babul Supriyo, on social media. He said, “I would like to thank Nachiketa-da for perfectly communicating the message of the masses through his song spicing it up with proper quotient of satire.”

However, Nachiketa denied that the lyrics were directed at Mamata Banerjee and claimed it was directed at corrupt politicians across India regardless of their political affiliation. “Perhaps Babul did not interpret my song in the right context, in the correct way,” he said. “Only a CM like Banerjee can take such a stand against the practice of accepting cut money. She has the guts, I am with her,” he added.

However, not even Trinamool leaders believe Nachiketa’s words. “Nachiketa’s song is propaganda material served on a platter to the BJP,” a senior Trinamul leader was quoted by The Telegraph as saying.

The ‘cut money’ that the musician is referring to is the bribe that local Trinamool leaders took from people in lieu of implementing government welfare schemes. The West Bengal Chief Minister had recently warned that any money that was taken by members of her party ought to be returned to the people it was taken from and should anyone be found indulging in extortion, then the person would be arrested.

“I do not want to keep thieves in my party. If I take action they will join some other party. Some leaders are claiming 25 per cent commission for providing housing grants to the poor. This should stop immediately. Return the money if any of you have taken it,” Banerjee had said.

The order by Mamata which appears to have been directed to counter BJP’s allegations that it was running a ‘Syndicate Raj’ in the state seems to have backfired instead. People are now lining up in front of the houses of Trinamool leaders demanding their money to be returned. At over 15 places on Sunday, hundreds of people lined up seeking refunds of cut money paid earlier. Local Trinamool leaders and elected representatives in Birbhum, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Burdwan, Malda, Purulia, Nadia, West Midnapore and Bankura are suffering the wrath of the public.

At two places, the agitators even forced the elected representatives to declare in writing that they would return the money they had taken as commission. At Oushgram in East Burdwan, TMC leader Ujjwal Mondal admitted that he had charged between Rs.8000-Rs.10000 from the beneficiaries of government welfare schemes.

The carefully constructed empire Mamata had built over the years now appears to be crumbling all of a sudden. Her government is suffering a massive trust deficit among the public due to her terrible record on law and order. There is an impression among the public that Trinamool has turned into a ‘Muslim party’. Moreover, the mishandling of the Doctors’ protest has greatly damaged Mamata’s personal reputation in the public’s eye.

Combined with the rampant political murders in the state, the continuous defections from her party and now the ‘Cut Money’ crisis, the aftermath of the Lok Sabha elections has turned into a nightmare scenario for Mamata Banerjee. More significantly, people who had once supported her call for ‘Poriborton’ have now deserted her.

Nachiketa was one such star from the entertainment industry in 2011 who was perceived to be close to Mamata Banerjee and had performed at several TMC events that year. With Assembly elections slated for 2021, ‘Didi’ is fast running out of time to repair the incredible damage to her reputation.

Many party leaders are of the opinion that the move by Mamata Banerjee on ‘Cut Money’ could prove to be devastating for the party because it amounts to an admission that leaders of the party did indulge in corruption and the administration had turned a blind eye to it until now.

It was forced to issue a statement over the matter where it accused the media of misrepresenting what the Chief Minister said. According to a statement by the party, “The Chairperson (Mamata Banerjee) emphasized that 99.99% of the Trinamool functionaries and elected representatives are honest, hardworking and committed to work for the benefit of the people.”

TMC threatens party leaders who have joined BJP that they will face dire consequences

West Bengal chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has started to lose her patience as more and more of her party leaders and councillors continue jumping ships. In a veiled attack, TMC on Sunday warned its former councillors who joined BJP, that they would face the “consequences.”

In a statement released on June 23, the TMC said that “99.99 per cent of Trinamool functionaries and elected representatives are honest, hardworking and committed to work for the benefit of the people. Some from different political parties are sullying the name of the party by indulging in corruption and unfair practices. They will be dealt with severely”.

“A very few members from panchayats and municipalities have joined the BJP because of their ulterior motives and selfish vested interests. They have done this with the hope that their misdeeds and crimes will be washed away. They are mistaken,” TMC said in a statement.

TMC stressed that its former members would not be spared for the “crimes” they have committed. The party added, “If there has been wrongdoing on anyone’s part, he will have to face the consequences even though he has the backing of the BJP.”

Several TMC MLAs and councillors have defected to BJP in the recent past. Recently, a local strongman and Nowpara MLA Sunil Singh along with 12 Trinamool councillors of the Garulia municipality joined the BJP.

Interestingly, the Garulia municipality has 21 councillors, out of which 19 were from the TMC. As 12 TMC members have decided to join the BJP, the municipality will fall into the hands of the BJP, which already has a majority in Bhatpara and Darjeeling civic bodies.

Mamata Banerjee’s predicaments increased after her party lost space to the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as the latter won 18 seats. Soon after the elections, the MLAs, senior TMC functionaries began to join hands with the BJP. TMC’s Bijpur MLA Shubhranshu Roy joined the party with a Congress and a CPM MLA last month.

Another TMC lawmaker Manirul Islam had also joined the saffron party in presence of BJP leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy recently. Along with Manirul Islam, president of TMC’s youth wing Gadadhar Hazra, the secretary of the same unit Mohammad Asif Iqbal and TMC leader Nimai Das also switched sides to join the BJP.

BJP also took control over three municipalities after the councillors joined the BJP. The municipalities are, Kanchrapara, Halisahara and Naihati.

In fact, adding insult to injury, Arjun Sigh, after crossing over from TMC on March 14, had claimed that over 100 MLAs from the Trinamool Congress will be joining the BJP soon.

In March there were reports that almost 300 Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, along with senior TMC Yuva Morcha leader, Nishith Paramanik and a former CISF commandant and Arjuna awardee, Chhaya Adak, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at their national headquarters in Delhi.

Irked by the continuous setbacks, Mamata had last week called all the defectors “greedy and corrupt” and claimed that the BJP was “collecting garbage”. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo also said she would be replacing the “traitors” with “dedicated members” and asked those “undecided about joining the BJP” to leave her party at the earliest.

TMC MPs stage protest at the Parliament against EVMs, demand paper ballots in future elections

Today morning, several MPs of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at the Parliament.

The MPs held placards demanding to discontinue the use of EVMs and to bring back the use paper ballots in the elections.

Having faced tough competition from the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has resorted to blaming the EVMs for the loss of seats. She accused the BJP of using money power and tampering the EVMs. Despite the accusations, TMC workers were caught rigging the elections themselves. The party is also blamed for the poll violence in the state, the violence had even forced the Election Commission to cut short the election campaign.

Rahul Gandhi, instead of introspecting Congress parties massive defeat in the elections, is planning to lead a nation-wide stir against the Modi government questioning the authenticity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Sonia Gandhi had also alleged the BJP for manipulating the EVMs while addressing a thanksgiving rally. NCP chief Sharad Pawar previously resorted to scaremongering and predicted riots over the EVMs.

They couldn’t strike our military bases as they couldn’t even cross LOC: Air Chief Marshal on Pakistan’s reaction after Balakot

Today while speaking to the press during the commemoration of 20 years of the Kargil War, the Indian Air Chief Marshall, BS Dhanoa, speaking about the Balakot airstrikes against Pakistan said that none of the Pakistan fighter jets was able to cross the Line of Control (LOC).

He said that India had achieved its military objective by striking at the terror camps on Balakot. However, Pakistan had failed in achieving its objective of striking Indian military bases as they fighter jets couldn’t even cross the LoC.

Talking about Pakistan’s closed airspace, he said that India had a vibrant economy and that it was important to keep it open. He also said that the Indian Air Force has never stopped civil air traffic. The IAF had only stopped Srinagar airspace on 27 February for just 2-3 hours. India didn’t allow the tension with Pakistan to dictate civil aviation as it had a larger economy.

Talking about the Kargil War, he said that the purpose of the attack has always been to show resolve and capability. He said that the message has been delivered the people who were hit.

Today, the Indian Air Force commemorated 20 years of the Kargil War by recreating Tiger Hill attack and static display of Mirage-2000 and other aircraft used during ‘Operation Vijay’.

In March the Air Marshall Chief had categorically stated that IAF had successfully hit the target that was intended to be hit, dismissing all doubts on the Balakot air strike. In April, he had said that technology was on India’s side during Balakot air strikes and that the results would have been had they already acquired the Rafale.

A few days ago, it was revealed that the Balakot strike was codenamed as ‘Operation Bandar’. Despite the constant denial of the success of the operation, Pakistan has said that its Eastern airspace would remain shut until India promises not to repeat Balakot. After the air strikes, Pakistan had kept hidden one of its most advanced submarines. The Indian Navy detected it after searching for about 21 days.

JDU MLA reveals how the Nitish Kumar govt was completely unprepared to tackle the AES outbreak

A JDU MLA exposes the unpreparedness and the apathy of Nitish Kumar government to tackle the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). In a sting operation conducted by Republic TV, a sitting JDU MLA in Muzaffarpur, Ashok Choudhary is seen exposing his government’s callousness and negligence when its come to dealing with the current crisis in the state of Bihar, which has become the epicentre of the disease’s latest outbreak.

As per the Republic TV report, the MLA could be heard saying that many lives of children could have been saved had the Nitish Kumar government acted on time. He claimed that middleman robbed the children of the basic facilities in the government hospital. Ashok Choudhary says that such a situation arises every year. The government should have been more prepared and should have pressurised the doctors in these government hospitals to be groomed to handle such a crisis, the MLA stressed. He further claimed that since 95 per cent of children suffering is poor, no one bothers.

Giving a road-map, he said that his government should have provided doctors and ambulance in the small villages, and should have shifted them to district hospitals only when they would not be treated in their villages. However, he claimed that such steps were not taken.

The hospital premises are filthy, and there have been skeletons found in SKMC hospital’s backyard, but the Bihar CM remains impassive towards the situation.

As many as 181 children have died in the state until today. In the latest, the Supreme Court has given a 7-day deadline to Nitish Kumar government to get control over the disquieting situation in Bihar.

Amid the rising death toll in the state of Bihar due to encephalitis outbreak, another shocking incident took place at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, Muzaffarpur on June 23. A part of its roof outside ICU collapsed as the patients were rushing to the hospital.

Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha, addressing a press conference on Sunday, also blamed Nitish Kumar for the death of innocent children dying of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the state.

“Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is solely responsible for the death of innocents and small children. He is just seeing that children are dying but is doing nothing substantial for it. The whole health administration is left at the mercy of God by him,” said Kushwaha.

“The vacancies against the post of doctors are far less than required in Hospitals and health centres. Not even one doctor is sanctioned for each hospital. If he is not able to do anything then he should say sorry to the people and resign,” said Kushwaha.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has for all these days, refused to say anything over the deaths of children caused by Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in Muzaffarpur district. The Deputy CM Sushil Modi has also been silent about the outbreak. In fact, Nitish Kumar had earlier slammed the media saying it to ‘stay in limits’ and the latter asking reporters to ‘leave the press conference if they want to ask about the death of the children’.

Mediapersons repeatedly tried to put questions to him in connection with the matter, but Nitish Kumar ignored them and refused to say anything while on his way to his vehicle after attending an event here. He has, earlier too, refused to say anything on the issue.

Moreover, showing apathy towards the rising distress over the deaths due to the outbreak of the disease in Bihar, its Health minister, Mangal Pandey was caught on camera being more concerned about the India-Pakistan match rather than the deteriorating situation in the state.

A social activist named Tamanna Hashmi had filed a petition against Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey, holding them responsible for failing to control the outbreak of the disease.

The Outbreak of AES has taken away the lives of 181 children in the state. The state administration, however, is clueless about the reason that causes such a deadly disease.

The administration has blamed it on excessive heat and humidity, hypoglycemia, eating litchis on an empty stomach. However, despite the disease affecting the state every year, the questions as to why the state failed to combat this illness remained unanswered.

Assam: Sidul Islam sends intimate photos with wife to in-laws, threatens to release on social media if dowry not given

A shocking case of a man blackmailing his in-laws for dowry threatening to release intimate photos of his own wife has emerged in Assam. According to reports, a man named Sidul Islam has sent intimate photos with his own wife to her relatives, threating to make them viral on social media if he is not paid ₹5 lakh as dowry.

According to the family of the girl, Sidul had married the girl from Ramkrishna area in Karimganj last year. But around three months after the marriage, he started harassing her for dowry. Talking to local media, the girl said that Sidul used to beat her regularly, asking her to bring money from her family. Being a poor family, they were unable to comply with the demand, and hence he continued with physical and mental harassment on her. One day when the assault crossed the limit of tolerance, she went back to her parental home.

After that the family of the girl lodged a complaint with police against the man for dowry harassment. But this time Sidul used a disgusting strategy to extort money from his in-laws. He had some intimate photos with his wife, and he used these photos to blackmail his wife’s family in an effort to get money. He sent some of such photos to his wife’s father, uncle and other some relatives on WhatsApp, threatening that if they don’t withdraw the case against him, and don’t pay him ₹5 lakh, he will upload the photos on internet. He called and messaged the family and relatives of his wife several times to pay the money and withdraw the case, saying else he will make the photos viral social media.

The family of the girl has again lodged a complaint against Sidul for this attempt to blackmail. They have also approached the Superintendent of Police at Karimganj regarding the matter.
