Congress resorts to vandalism after crushing defeat in Jind bypoll, raises the ‘EVM tampering’ bogey

As Congress party realised that their candidate Randeep Singh Surjewala is set to lose the important Jind by-polls in Haryana, the workers of the Congress party took to the streets to protest against the election results while raising doubts regarding EVM tampering.

According to Times Now, Congress workers created ruckus after embarrassing results in the Jind by-polls, where senior Congress leader and close aide of Rahul Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala was pushed to humiliating third position. As soon as the Congress workers recognised that the party’s contest was over, they resorted to vandalism while also claiming that there was an ‘EVM-fraud’.

Reportedly, counting of votes was also stopped for a while after opposition parties raised doubts of EVM tampering and claimed that there was some mismatch in the number of votes during the counting process. Some workers belonging to the opposition parties held the protests while alleging that the electronic voting machines (EVMs) had been tampered with.

Virender Jaglan, polling agent of Congress candidate Randeep Singh Surjewala alleged that there were irregularities in 2-3 EVM machines. Jaglan added that along with other opposition parties they have raised a demanded that there should be recounting of votes in those EVMs where mismatch had occurred.

Following the ruckus, Haryana police took control of the situation by lathicharging the workers present outside the counting venue of Jind by-polls. “There was an unlawful assembly which didn’t disperse when we asked them to leave. We had to use a slight force to disperse them. Situation normal now. Counting underway,” said SP Jind Ashwin Shenvi.

The BJP won the Jind by-polls with a margin of 12935 votes, securing a total of 50566 votes. JJP’s Digvijay Singh Chautala came second with 37631 votes while Congress leader Randeep Surjwala finished third with 22740 votes. The Jind by-poll was necessitated following the death of INLD MLA Hari Chand Middha, whose son Krishna Middha contested from a BJP ticket to secure the victory.

BJP’s Krishna Middha said, “I would like to thank everyone who supported the party and me. It’s their victory. There were big leaders in the contest as well, but we have defeated them too. We will follow the schemes launched by PM and take them forward.”

A SWOT analysis of the BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

0

In less than 100 days, India will be facing one of its most important elections in recent times. Not for nothing has it often been alluded to as the Battle of Panipat. The stakes for both sides are very high and the long-term implications of 2019 outcome are for all to see.

With that in mind, we undertook a SWOT analysis exercise for BJP with respect to its chances in Elections 2019.

For the uninitiated, SWOT stands for Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat – it is an analytical tool used to examine the strategic and competitive position of an organisation.

So here is how BJP stacks up:

Strengths

1. Brand Modi

It is an undisputable fact that Brand Modi is still at a high, though media may try and push their “Rahul catching up with Modi” narrative for the umpteenth time. His strongest points have been personal integrity and selfless dedication to the nation. These have withstood the allegations of Rafale and beyond media noise, the man on the road still believes he is incorruptible. In fact, baseless allegations flung around without following up with concrete evidence have convinced many that this is akin to a witch-hunt. The opposition has managed to create a Presidential format of election for 2019. With no clear opponent in sight, this does seem to make it Advantage Modi.

2. Schemes like Ujala, Ujjwala, PMJay, Ayushman Bharat

The transformation brought about in rural lives will probably be the hallmark of the last 4 years. From ensuring 95% basic sanitation to almost 100% electrification, millions of lives have changed drastically. In addition to re-enforcing the image of BJP in governance matters, it has also brought forward in contrast, the utter failure of 60 years of Congress rule. The fact that they did not have the will to provide even the most basic necessities to millions of rural folk when they could have, makes every promise they make now sound hollow and insincere.

3. Macroeconomic indicators

India has already entered the top 5 economies in the world and is predicted to overtake China in terms of growth. Most macro growth indicators that had been in the red pre-2014 have seen considerable improvement. Demonetisation and GST are largely seen as bitter pills to set the house in order, and inflation has been under control.

4. Dedicated support base

BJP has the most dedicated voter base in the country. 2014 saw thousands of volunteers take a break from their careers and give it their all to see Modi get elected. This time around, the enthusiasm was a tad lower but a rejuvenated cadre seems to have sprung into action of late. Also, BJP is the only party that has supporters express grievances upwards, which are often addressed and course correction initiated. A real strength in a scenario where other political parties are filled with sycophants and Yes-Men unable to point out where they are going wrong.

5. Terror-free rule

Even the harshest critics of Modi agree that the last 4 years have seen a peaceful, terror-free existence. Nobody has forgotten the frequent blasts and the callousness with which concerns were addressed by the UPA government. In cities and Metros, this is a huge motivator for people to vote in this government once again.

Weakness

1. The real pliant media

Among the funniest and phoniest criticism to have come from anti-Modi camp is that the Indian media is soft on Modi. It is a fact that for the last 4 years the Congress fed ecosystem, which includes the media, has been setting the narrative – such as hate crime or lynching that is not based on verifiable data and in fact have often been falsified with data and logic – while BJP has been playing on the backfoot. Rather than talking about achievements, the government seems to be caught in a perpetual fire fighting mode. No efforts have been made to address false and malicious news on a daily basis, which has emboldened peddlers even more.

2. Judiciary

From corruption cases to RJB to constant attacks on Hindu culture, the deviancy of the SC has been one of the gnawing features of the last 4 years. This in fact also puts a spanner into the arrests of Christian Michel, Rajeev Saxena and Deepak Talwar. With less than 3 months left, will any of these arrests bear results? “Modiji ne kisko jail bheja?” is a common refrain heard among the dissatisfied.

3. Motormouths in Hindu Pariwar

There were many first-time BJP voters in 2014, who were fed up of Congress corruption and were willing to give the “Hindutva party” a chance. Many of them have been successfully swayed by the Gaurakshak and Hindutva narrative spread by media. Will this category vote for Modi or will choose NOTA?

4. Middle-class discontent

Although the supporters of the government have pointed out various ways in which the middle class has benefited, many of these benefits are indirect and not easily appreciated by an average person running his or her household. Despite inflation being under control, an apparent lack of direct benefits to the middle class such as any tax cuts or other concessions from the finance ministry is one of the weak spots of the Modi government. Could the interim budget change that?

5. Lack of ecosystem

In the last 60 years, Congress has governed less and ruled more. They have successfully created a devoted and easily co-opted support base which does their bidding each time they are called into doing so. Little wonder that the Padma Awardees “gifted” by them are often called into for service. From the award wapsi gang to the op-eds crying intolerance, these people have managed to create an atmosphere of a seemingly chaotic and intolerant rule. The fact that they have been able to do it with such ease, is not a contradiction lost to many. However, they succeed in affecting the impressionable minds.

Opportunities

1. Brand Pappu

This requires an article in itself but to keep it short and simple, Brand Pappu is today as big a motivator to elect Modi as he was in 2104, if not bigger. The narrative peddled by Pidi media (the real pliant media) notwithstanding, the last 2 years have brought to fore, a deranged, manic kind of a personality who can go to any extent to grab power. In addition to that, his winking and hugging and other unpredictable gestures validate Wikileaks expose made about him in 2014. The country at large does not seem to be in the mood to put this kind of a person at the helm of affairs.

2. Disillusionment with Congress in MP, Rajasthan and Karnataka

Kamalnath and company have hit the ground running with their version of governance in their respective states. MP almost immediately saw BJP cadre get killed, there were riots for urea procurement in MP and Rajasthan, the loan waivers have already been proved as a fake promise. One can only wonder at the sheer audacity of these people who will have to face voters in less than 3 months. Will this send the voters back into BJP arms in 2019?

3. Gains in North East

BJP has made impressive strides in the North East through ground connect and infrastructure development. The party is hoping to improve upon its 2014 seat share there. (However, the Citizenship Amendment Bill is already creating problems for BJP in Assam and other states in the region. Some believe this has the potential to harm BJP prospects in North East.)

4. Individual aspirations of Mahathugbandhan

There is no clarity of a hierarchy in the MGB. It is a collection of individuals who have got together to topple Modi but are big leaders in their own states and more importantly in their own minds. This is going to lead to an interesting scenario of leadership claims in the unfortunate situation that BJP does not manage a simple majority. The assertiveness of this type has already been displayed by Mayawati, Yashwant Sinha, Akhilesh Yadav among others. And it is highly unlikely that Congress will be ready to play second fiddle to any of these. This khichdi scenario is reason enough for many sane minds to vote for Modi solely for the sake of stability.

5. Ram Mandir

On the heels of repeated dilly-dallying by the SC, the government has filed a petition for the return of undisputed land at the RJB. This has led to a flutter of excitement among the RW who see it as a hope towards construction. Whether the SC dithers or not, the government has made its stand clear that they are not willing to wait any longer. Will this be able to placate voters who voted for this government with RJB as the sole motive?

6. Return of Nirav Modi, Choksi, Mallya etc.

Having built up the Chowkidaar Chor hai narrative to a crescendo, it remains to be seen how the public will react IF any or all of these are brought back to India before the elections. Will it be a huge setback to the agenda that was peddled all along? Getting any of them to sing in custody can bring huge benefits to the anti-corruption plank of Modi government.

Threats

1. Caste-based mobilisation

Electoral mathematics will go a long way in determining the outcome of 2109. Having tasted victory in Bihar Assembly elections and to some extent in Gujarat and Karnataka, it is very likely that caste-based calculations by ‘secular’ parties can tilt the balances away from BJP’s favour. Can Amit Shah’s famed candidate selection offset losses due to caste arithmetic by the other side?

2. Instigation of large scale caste/religion based riots

Congress is already scraping the bottom of the barrel with their power grabbing agenda. From beseeching Pakistan to help in removing Modi to Rahul Gandhi secretly meeting Chinese officials, they have consistently displayed that no step is too low when it comes to power. Bhima Koregaon happened in not a too distant past and it is not unexpected that if push comes to shove, they will not shy away from employing every possible avenue. Recently Shashi Tharoor quoted an American Spymaster predicting that BJP may organise riots in the country before elections. Is there more to it than meets the eye? Are they setting the stage for something sinister? No one has forgotten Mallikarjun Kharge’s Rakhtpaat threat nor Rahul Gandhi’s famed “22000 people will be killed if BJP comes to power” dialogue.

3. The rise of the “Group 140” aspirants within BJP

The secular cabal has found a sudden fondness for Mr Gadkari. Each of his statement is being twisted around and projected as anti-Modi. To what extent this will be successful and whether they will be able to create dissonance in BJP cadre by projecting more power centres is something to watch out for.

4. NOTA warriors

There are two main sets of NOTA warriors currently. Firstly those who voted for BJP for the first time in 2014, and are currently dissatisfied due to various causes like Economy, Hindutva, Demonetization etc. The second lot is the pro-Hindutva brigade which had expected a Hindu Rashtra at the end of 2019 and are sorely disappointed. Whether the coming 100 days will see a situation that can bring back some of these disgruntled supporters is of utmost importance. NOTA will play a big role in 2019. As some say, this election is not about coming to power, but about keeping Modi out of power.

The above lists are obviously not exhaustive and are in fact quite dynamic. The next 3 months will see a roller coaster ride in politics, of a magnitude rarely witnessed before. Hopefully, at the end of the individual ups and downs, there will be only one victory and that will be of INDIA.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat voices his support for traditions of Sabarimala Temple at Dharma Sansad in Kumbh

The Dharma Sansad organized by VHP at Kumbh in Prayagraj began on Thursday. Over 5,000 seer and saints have gathered for the two-day event to deliberate upon methods to accelerate the construction of the Bhavya Ram Mandir. at Ayodhya.

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat also addressed the event. Significantly, he voiced his support for the traditions of the Sabarimala Temple. He said, “The Temple has its own traditions but the Court did not take into account the sentiments of crores of Hindus which have been hurt.”

He further stated, “The Court said that any woman who wishes to enter should be allowed to if anyone is stopped, then security should be provided to allow them to have Darshan. But no woman wants to enter, therefore, women have to be brought from Sri Lanka and smuggled in through the back door.”

The RSS chief also criticized the Court’s judgment and asserted that Temples are not public places and it belongs to particular Sampradaya wits its own particular traditions which have to be respected. He also said the conflict was created in Kerala as a consequence of the Court’s judgment. He also asserted that the Kerala government was conspiring with antisocial elements to hurt the sentiments of the Hindu Samaj.

The raking up of the assault on the traditions of Sabarimala Temple in a Dharma Sansad for the construction of Ram Mandir is an extremely significant development for Hindu Samaj in the long run. For decades, Rama Janambhoomi provided Hindu society with a banner to rally under. And as recent developments in Kerala have amply demonstrated, the Sabarimala issue has roused the passions of Hindus in Kerala in a manner only the Gods can.

At a time when every possible attempt is being made to divide Hindus along the lines of caste, class, creed, region and language, the war on the Sabarimala Temple gaining traction at an event organized for Ram Mandir at one of the most important festivals for Hindus which help them transcend every barrier is an extremely positive development.

IT department orders confiscation of Rabri Devi and daughter Hema’s benami properties

0

Yadav family appears to be embroiled in one controversy after the other. After the temporary reprieve the Yadavs secured in the IRCTC scam, the Income Tax department has ordered the confiscation of Benami properties of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife Rabri Devi and his fifth daughter Hema Yadav.

The Adjudicating Authority of Income Tax Department has reportedly ordered the seizure of Benami properties of Rabri Devi and Hema Yadav. The properties which are confiscated include 2 plots of land in Patna and 1 plot in the Danapur’s Sanguna adjoining Patna. The Dhanot plot is of 7.75 decimal and a plot in Sanguna is of 3.25 decimal. Both the plots were bought in the name of someone else.

As per the sources, both these plots were received as gifts to Rabri Devi and daughter Hema in 2008. The Dhanot plot is owned by Lalon Chowdhary who works in the Bihar Vidhan Sabha, while the flat in Saguna is registered under Narayan Chowdhury, who is a Railway employee. Both were employed by Lalu Prasad Yadav. It is also alleged that both of them, who live in rented houses gave their land as gifts to the Lalu family in exchange for the jobs. Rabri and Hema have failed to reveal the source of this land in the income tax investigation, after which it has now been seized.

Two days back, the court granted relief to the Yadav family after it agreed to grant bail to the accused in the IRCTC scam. The court had granted bail to Tejashwi, Lalu and Rabri Devi in the case. However, Lalu Prasad Yadav will continue to serve the jail sentence in connection to his conviction in the fodder scam.

The Income Tax department has already seized benami properties worth Rs 6900 crores till date, manifesting clearly Modi government’s no-tolerant policy towards Black money and corruption.

‘Love Commandos’ owner who appeared in Amir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate arrested for extorting money from couples

0

Sanjay Sachdev, owner an NGO called “Love Commandos” has been arrested by Delhi police on Tuesday for extorting money from couples. The NGO claims to unite couples whose parents are opposed to their relationship.

Sachdev was arrested after a woman levelled several charges against him including that of criminal extortion and criminal confinement before the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). As per the information given by the DCW, when the DCW officials including the Chairperson Swati Maliwal, inspected the shelter home on Tuesday there were four couples residing there, all below the age of 25. “Eight men and women were confined there. Their documents were taken, and they weren’t allowed to leave the premises. The NGO extorted money from them, physically assaulted the couples and even forced the men to consume alcohol,” said Maliwal.

“They also misbehaved with the women residents. Our team immediately contacted Central district DCP Mandeep Randhawa and an FIR was lodged and the ‘Love Commandos’ founder was arrested,” she added.

A case has been registered in the Paharganj Police station under section 342 (wrongful confinement), section 384, (theft), section 506 (criminal intimidation), section 509 (insulting modesty of woman) and section 34 (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and the statement of the woman, her partner and three other couples residing in the shelter home.

According to the DCW, the owner would himself get drunk at night and would force the boys to get drunk. He would also unleash his dogs on the residents in order to threaten them. One couple alleged that they were not allowed to leave even after their families contacted them saying they want to welcome them back. The NGO “Love Commandos” had gained popularity after its owner Sanjay Sachdev appeared on Amir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate.

IndiaSpend’s faulty ‘fact-checker’ does it again, does not correct database even after their own ground report says otherwise

Biased and flawed self-proclaimed fact-checker from the dubious ‘data journalism’ website IndiaSpend, factchecker.in is at it again. Journalist Swati Goel Sharma, who seems to have taken upon herself to expose the biased reportage and factual inaccuracies of IndiaSpend, took to Twitter to call out their bias.

Swati is talking about an incident that took place in August 2018. IndiaSpend’s ‘hate crime tracker’ had included this incident as a hate crime under ‘communal clashes’.

Religion of victim has one Muslim and one ‘unknown’

The first link used as a source for the above ‘hate-crime’ is a Times of India one. Times of India report mentions names of both the victims. It mentions how Sumit had filed the FIR. Despite that, the religion of other victim is kept ‘unknown’.

Times of India report mentioning details about both the victims

The same Times of India report also mentions how Abid was prompted by his own employer Shamsher to play victim for a counter an FIR which originated over a dispute over a cricket match.

Times of India report mentioning that Abid filed an FIR on his employer’s instructions

This is only the Times of India report. IndiaSpend’s Factchecker then did a ground report on the same. In its ground report, Factchecker.in has mentioned that the fight was between boys of all the faiths.

Factchecker.in’s ground report further states how Sumit was allegedly attacked by some Muslim men.

Factchecker.in report on Sumit’s statement

In the same report, Factchecker.in mentions that the Police has confirmed with Factchecker that Abid had cooked up the story on an attack on him.

Abid had cooked up the story of attack on him according to Police

To summarize, an incident takes place in Meerut where a bunch of Muslim men attack a boy over a game of cricket. FIR is filed. To settle scores on this FIR, a fake story is created by Abid, a Muslim man, claiming that he was thrashed. Police investigates and concludes that no attack took place on Abid and he had acted on his employer’s instruction. This part is included in Times of India report as well, which factchecker.in had taken as base report for their ‘hate-crime tracker’.

So, while the base report says the Police concluded there was no attack on Abid, their own ground report also mentions Police confirming that there was no attack on Abid, factchecker.in continues to keep the above incident in ‘hate crime’. It has been over a week since their own ground report, the incident is not removed from their database.

One wonders why.

BJP leader thrashed in Assam, as protests over Citizenship Amendment Bill takes a violent turn

Bhartiya Janta Patry leader and Tinsukia district president Lakheswar Moran was assaulted by people protesting over the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The incident has reportedly taken place in Tinsukia, where the leader had arrived to attend a Lok Jagran Manch meeting, organised to tackle the misinformation surrounding the contentious bill.

According to a North East Now report, Moran was greeted with slogans and black flags shown by protestors. Subsequently, the protest took a violent turn after some protesters started chasing the leader. In the video, people can be seen throwing tyres and stones over the leader, and also manhandling him. In the wake of this, police intervened and safely escorted Moran, protecting from further violence.

“The protestors rained blows and kicks on him but the police did not intervene. To escape the mob fury he tried to run but fell down after chased by the protestors. He again tried to flee but once again fell down after hitting a bicycle. It was then the police finally came to his rescue.” A witness was quoted by North East Now.

The protest was reportedly led by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Former NDA partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP).

After the incident, BJP’s state President Ranjit Kumar Dass has condemned the incident and also said that protestors should not cross the “Laxman Rekha”. A First Information report has also been lodged in regard to the incident. He has also appealed to the state government to nab the perpetrators at earnest. He added that BJP will also send its leaders to Tinsukia district on Thursday to press the administration and urge them to nab the assailants.

“We don’t have any problem if someone protests with black flags or going nudes. But if someone does like it was done in case of our Tinsukia district president, our 29 lakh karyakartas (workers) will not remain silent.” Dass was quoted by Times of India.

Dass, earlier, has alleged AASU and Indian National Congress of inciting violence in Nalbari, where Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had gone to lay the foundation stone for a medical college.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on 8th January, seeks an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955, to provide citizenship to the persecuted minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, and Christians) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The bill is expected to be tabled in Rajya Sabha during the Budget session.

The bill has led many National Democratic Alliance and Northeast Democratic alliance, both led by BJP, partners to oppose the bill, too. Parties like  JD(U) and Maharashtra based Shiv Sena have opposed the bill and said that bill will not get their support in the Upper House. Similarly, Megahalya CM Conrad Sanma, Mizoram CM Zoramthanga and Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio have labelled the bill to be against the interest of the region, as it will allow the influx of immigrants and will lead to the dilution of regional culture.

Read exclusive details of the Swiss bank accounts allegedly used by AgustaWestland accused Rajiv Saxena to receive kickbacks

The AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam has been nothing short of a fast-paced thriller ever since middleman Christian Michel was extradited to India from Dubai. Several revelations came to light, from the names of “Italian Lady”, to “Italian Lady’s son R“. From how Christian Michel was lobbying for the Eurofighter and against the Rafale deal, to how he had unbridled access to the PMO under Congress regime, the CCS and even the investigative agencies. In another massive headway, yesterday the Modi government managed the get Rajiv Saxena to India, who is one of the prime accused in the scam.

In an important development in the investigations into UPA era scams, two high-profile persons linked to the scams, Rajiv Saxena and Deepak Talwar were brought back from Dubai to India.

Lawyer of Rajiv Saxena, who is an accused in the VVIP chopper scam, has informed that he was picked up by UAE government security agencies yesterday morning in Dubai, and later he was extradited to India in the evening.

Rajiv Saxena’s profile
Deepak Talwar Profile

Rajiv Saxena is accused in a money laundering case connected with the AgustaWestland deal. He had filed an anticipatory bail plea in a Delhi court last month, which the ED had opposed. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had named him in a supplementary charge sheet filed in the VVIP Chopper scam in September 2017. Saxena and his wife Shivani Saxena are directors in two Dubai based companies, while he is a director in another Mauritius based company, and it is alleged that all those companies received proceeds of the kickbacks paid in the AgustaWestland deal.

It was reported that Rajiv Saxena has several accounts in Switzerland. OpIndia has acquired the list of accounts that Rajiv Saxena allegedly used for kickbacks received in the AgustaWestland scam.

The following are the accounts based in Switzerland in which the kickback of the AgustaWestland scam was deposited. The investigating agencies are trying to ascertain for whose benefit were these accounts maintained.

The banks in which the amounts were allegedly deposited, include Union Bancaire Privee UBP in Zurich, UBS Switzerland, and Credit Suiss AG, says the dossier accessed by OpIndia. The remittances into these accounts came allegedly from Matrix Group Ltd, UHY Saxena and Associates, Tiramisu Holdings Inc and Tanay Holdings Ltd, the document claimed.

Switzerland accounts used by Rajiv Saxena for money laundering

About Deepak Talwar, the dossier says that he facilitated dispersal of profit making routes of Air India to private airlines using his connection with the then Civil Aviation Minister. This fact was reportedly corroborated by payments by private airlines who were benefitted from such illegalities.

The Dossier also says that Qatar, Emirates and Air Arabia were beneficiaries of route dispersal and Deepak Talwar received a kickback of Rs. 212 crores in the foreign bank accounts in Bank of Singapore in the name of the company controlled by Talwar.

Deepak Talwar has also received a kick back in the purchase of Air India Airbus. He had received kickbacks in the account of Advantage India, an NGO controlled by Deepak Talwar himself.

Deepak Talwar was a high profile lobbying of the Congress era who has alleged syphoned off thousands of crores. The full profile of Deepak Talwar can be read here. Deepak Talwar was perhaps was as powerful as Niira Radia if not more. His exploits were not limited to these. He was caught in several instances and in fact, his proximity to the Congress had also emerged. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s name emerged in the files recovered by the IT department in 2016, from the raids on Talwar’s premises. The recovered data allegedly show that Singh and his family members were frequently upgraded on international flights, mostly on Emirates. Recently, CBI had booked Talwar in the Air Asia scam.

Complaint registered against Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for hurting Hindu religious sentiments

A complaint has been filed today against the Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for allegedly hurting the Hindu religious sentiments through his derogatory remarks on the Kumbh festival. Tharoor had earlier sparked a for his derogatory tweet where he had attempted to mock UP CM Yogi Adityanath taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Kumbh.

Union Minister Smriti Irani had earlier attacked Shashi Tharoor for insulting Hinduism through his remarks and alleged Rahul Gandhi’s tacit approval of Tharoor’s remarks. “It is appalling to see his tweet and he has done it with the support of Rahul Gandhi,” Smriti Irani said in response to Shashi Tharoor’s tweet insulting the world’s largest Hindu congregation in Kumbh.

This is not the first time that Tharoor has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. He has often been critical of Hinduism and the demands raised by Hindus. Apart from keeping a stoic silence on the atrocious murders of Hindu activists in Kerala, he has also gratuitously claimed that no ‘good Hindu’ would want to build a Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Later, he also went on a tirade against Ram Temple at the Ramjanmabhoomi by sermonising Hindus to follow their scriptures.

Even the Congress president Rahul Gandhi is not far behind in insulting Hindus and Hinduism. He recently claimed that building Ram temple is a non-issue for his party. His party Congress also wanted to pass the Communal Violence Bill which basically ensured that only Hindus would be considered perpetrators and never a Muslim, should there be any communal violence. The bugbear of “Saffron Terror” narrative was concocted by Congress for falsely implicating Sadhvi Pragya and even Lt Col Purohit. It was Rahul Gandhi who deemed mythical “saffron terror” more dangerous than LeT. The list of Congress’ betrayal with respect to Hindus is rather interminable.
