Police carry out lathi charge against Hindus protesting against vandalism of Muthyalamma temple in Secunderabad, several injured

0

The tension caused by the desecration of Muthyalamma temple in Telangana’s Secunderabad continues, and on Saturday it led to a confrontation between protesting Hindus and the police. Police resorted to lathi charge on the devotees who were protesting at the temple premises.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal had called for a state-wide bandh on Saturday, which was supported by other Hindu groups and traders organisations, against the vandalization of the idol of Shri Muthyalamma Devi Temple on Monday. Amid the bandh, a large number of people including women and children arrived at the temple premises to participate in a demonstration.

A heavy police force was deployed at the venue. Amid the sloganeering of the protestors, some of the protestors allegedly threw stones, water bottles and footwear at the police, injuring a few cops. As a result, the police decided to use force against them, and canned the Hindu devotees. Several protestors were injured in the lathi charge by the police.

As per reports, while a large group of protestors tried to stage a sit-in in front of the temple demanding strict action against the culprit, another group tried to barge into Metropolis hotel at Secunderabad road, a hotel linked to the temple vandalism case. However, the police prevented them from doing so, and chased them away.

After this, some people in the protest hurled footwear and stones at the police. The police resorted to lathi-charge to chase away the protestors as some of them were turning violent.

BJP MLA Raja Singh condemned the lathi charge, calling it brutal and unjustified. He said that police used force when the Hindu devotees were peacefully protesting at the temple. “It is deeply disturbing that when our religious sentiments are attacked and idols desecrated, we are not even allowed to raise our voices in a peaceful manner,” he said.

Raja Singh said that the real question is, who ordered the lathi charge. He said, “Those responsible for desecrating the temple should be facing action, not the devotees who seek justice”. The MLA added that “this is a clear example of the Congress party’s appeasement politics, where the concerns of the majority are consistently ignored.”

On Monday (14th October), an idol of Muthyalamma temple in Telangana’s Kurmaguda region in Hyderabad was vandalised. It was allegedly done by one Salman Salim Thakur, who was apprehended by locals and handed over to the police after beating him.

Hyderabad police have also filed a case against well-known motivational speaker Munawar Zama of Mumbai and two other people for inciting hatred and motivating Salman for hate crime. Under the pretence of holding a month-long session on personality development, they were encouraging hatred towards Hindus among the participants.

Salman Salim Thakur was one of the 151 attendees of the workshop that took place at Metropolis Hotel in Regimental Bazaar. Abdul Rasheed Basheer Ahmed and Rehman, the manager and proprietor of the hotel, are the two other people booked.

Motivational speaker Munawar Zama provoked people to start riots in addition to fomenting animosity between different communities based on religion. He also allegedly provoked Salman to damage the idol of the goddess at Muthyalamma temple. Police added that Zama organized the session with assistance from Basheer and Rehman, but he did not have permission to conduct it.

The police have also sealed the hotel where the program took place. The administration has promised to repair the vandalism done at the temple.

9 years after Arvind Kejriwal promised to clean Yamuna, the holy river once again full of toxic foam in Delhi

Year after year, former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, has promised to clean the Yamuna River. It has been on AAP’s agenda since day one. However, the AAP-led Delhi government has failed miserably in fulfilling this promise. Once again, the Yamuna is full of toxic foam weeks before the annual Chhath Puja, and no one from the ruling party has any answers on the matter.

The failure of the AAP govt to clean the Yamuna River has been consistent since the party came into power in Delhi over ten years ago for the first time. Notably, soon after coming to power, Arvind Kejriwal in 2015 had promised to clean Yamuna. “We will revive Yamuna within five years,” Kejriwal had said in November 2015 while performing Aarti at the river.

National spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shehzad Poonawala, visited the Yamuna River on Saturday, 19th October, to assess the situation.

Speaking to ANI from the Yamuna River, he said, “The water of the Yamuna River has become poisonous. Arvind Kejriwal had said that he would clean the Yamuna River by 2025. When people celebrate the Chhath Puja festival in the Yamuna River, can you imagine the diseases they will suffer from? The AAP-led Delhi government has spent all the money meant for cleaning the Yamuna River on advertisements. They will blame Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for this condition. Poisonous politics is the reason for poisonous air and water in Delhi.”

He shared a video by Delhi Ka Darshan, where visuals of toxic foam were shown alongside the promises made by Kejriwal over the years. In 2015, Kejriwal said that his government would make the Yamuna so clean in five years that the people of Delhi would go to the river for picnics.

In 2021, Kejriwal had said that cleaning the Yamuna was his responsibility. He added, “I asked for five years from the people of Delhi during elections and promised them that I would take a dip in the Yamuna in the next elections.” Assembly elections for Delhi are scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, which means Delhi’s former CM has only five months to take a dip in the Yamuna.

Shehzad visited the Yamuna River and took a sample in a water bottle. He said, “This is water from the Yamuna River. The BOD level of the water should be 5 mg per litre, but the Yamuna’s water is 93 mg per litre. This is no longer water. Kejriwal has turned it into poison. The 22 km stretch from Wazirabad to Okhla, which is only 1-2% of the total length of the river, is responsible for 80% of the pollution in the river. Atishi Marlena and their senior leaders claim UP and the people of UP are responsible for the pollution in the river. However, the river flows from Haryana to Delhi to UP.”

History of false claims and promises by Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders

In September 2021, then Delhi’s Water Minister, Satyendra Jain, claimed that the AAP government was planning to treat around 155 million gallons per day (MGD) of wastewater coming from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh into the Yamuna. The minister had also claimed in 2020 that the Delhi government was determined to revive the river within the next three to four years. He was not the only one to make false claims.

Kejriwal has been the biggest culprit in AAP for making false promises to clean the Yamuna River over the years. In 2015, he promised to clean the Yamuna River within five years (by 2020). He made this promise while standing on the banks of the river, along with his cabinet colleagues and senior Delhi government officials, who took part in the first ‘Yamuna Aarti’ held at Kudesia Ghat. The aarti was conducted in a very dharmic style, with priests from Varanasi specially invited for the programme, chanting Vedic hymns.

In 2021, surreal scenes appeared on social media when a Jal Board employee was seen sprinkling water in the Yamuna to “get rid of the toxic foam.” Delhi Jal Board employee Ashok Kumar informed news agency ANI that they would sprinkle water on the surface of the Yamuna from the banks of the river to get rid of the foam by evening. This was part of the preparation to eliminate the toxic foam before Chhath Puja, during which devotees take a dip in the river while praying to the Sun.

In November 2021, Kejriwal announced 6-point action plan to completely change the face of Yamuna. But, nothing happened. As he had promised to clean Yamuna by February 2025, he has less than five months to do it.

So here we are, once again, standing by the foaming banks of the Yamuna, witnessing another grand promise evaporate into thin air, just like the toxic fumes from its polluted waters. Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP brigade have truly mastered the art of announcing dates and “6-point plans” that conveniently go nowhere. Perhaps the next Chhath Puja will witness not just devotees, but the man himself, taking that long-promised dip—if not in the clean river he vowed, then certainly in the murky depths of political rhetoric. After all, why break a tradition of false promises now?

OpIndia Ground Report: Idol broken by a brick, DJ beaten up, an announcement from the local mosque, eyewitnesses tell what happened in Bahraich

The communal tension that erupted in Bahraich on 13th October, 2024, has once again created an atmosphere of fear and terror in the district. 22-year-old Ramgopal Mishra was brutally murdered in this violence, which has caused deep resentment and a sense of insecurity among the Hindu community. Locals claim that this attack was carried out as part of a pre-planned conspiracy, in which provocative announcements were made from the local mosque and the mob was incited to become violent.

An attack on the idol, an announcement to kill ‘everyone’ from the mosque

Vinod Kumar Mishra, a victim of the violence by Islamists, recalled the entire incident in a conversation with OpIndia and narrated his ordeal. Vinod Mishra narrated the incident from the beginning to the violence, how a peaceful religious procession was attacked. He said, “When our idol reached the designated spot, the Muslim people threw bricks at the idol, which broke the hand of the idol and then the second idol also broke due to bricks and stones thrown at it. After this, the DJ was pulled out and beaten up.”

Mishra alleges that this dispute was started by Abdul Hameed’s son, who spoiled the atmosphere by throwing stones from the roof. After this, the Hindu community decided to sit on a dharna and demanded intervention from the administration. Although the police and administration assured the Hindus that the matter would be handled, the violence increased. Vinod Kumar Mishra said, “What the Muslims did is injustice. We had demanded an apology, but the police did not accept our demands.”

In an attempt to stop the violence, Vinod Kumar Mishra and other Hindu leaders also talked to Abdul Hameed. However, Hameed defended his son, saying that a Pakistani song was playing on the DJ, which Muslims objected to. Vinod Kumar Mishra said, “Abdul Hameed used to study with me, so I tried to convince him, but he said that his son is no longer under his control.”

Vinod got emotional while talking and said that his childhood friend Abdul Hameed was also involved in this violence. He said, “Abdul Hameed was my childhood friend. I never thought that he would do this. This was a big shock for me.”

Vinod said that despite talking to Abdul Hameed, the violence did not stop. After this, ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ was announced from the mosque, and it was said on the loudspeaker, ‘Wherever you find him, kill him, cut him down.’ Immediately after this, a crowd of about 150-200 people came out with weapons and started attacking people .

When Vinod tried to escape on his bike, his tyre was slashed

Vinod Kumar Mishra also shared his life-threatening ordeal during this entire incident. While he was trying to escape on his bike, he was attacked by a Muslim mob. “I had just started the vehicle when they attacked us. 5-7 people came and attacked me with an axe. I got deep wounds on my thumb and head. I was covered in blood.” After this, his bike was set on fire.

Vinod said that the inaction of the police was very shocking in this entire incident. He alleged that the police remained a mute spectator as long as the Muslim mob kept attacking. When the Hindu people gathered and tried to retaliate, the police lathi-charged them. “The police did not even write any report of ours,” he said. According to Vinod, 7-8 Hindus were injured in this violence, but no strict action was taken by the administration.

Japan: Man crashes van into PM Office and then throws Molotov cocktails at ruling party headquarters, arrested

A man was arrested for allegedly throwing, what appeared to be Molotov cocktails, at Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and crashing a van into a concertina barrier near the Prime Minister’s Office, Kyodo News reported.

The incident, reportedly, occured at around 5:50 am (local time)

The arrested accused has been identified as Atsunobu Usuda (49) from Kawaguchi in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo.

Several containers were found inside the vehicle, Kyodo News reported citing an investigative source.

The Tokyo metropolitan police department said there were no reports of injuries but a police vehicle was partially burned after the man threw around five objects near the LDP headquarters.

Molotov cocktails are also known as petrol bombs which are used to hurl fire, commonly used by rioters.

As per Kyodo News, the man got out of the van after hitting the barrier and threw what appeared to be a smoke flare at police officers. He did not resist arrest but has remained silent during the questioning, the report stated citing officials.

LDP is one of the oldest political parties in Japan founded in the 1950s. It is also Japan’s largest political party.

LDP Secretary General Hiroshi Moriyama, top brass of the party said he was “enraged” by the acts, adding the LDP’s campaigning will continue as scheduled.

Police officers and firefighters were seen inspecting the area in front of the LDP’s headquarters, while an entrance to the premises of the prime minister’s office was cordoned off with tape.

Earlier in 2022, former Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was stabbed to death while he was interacting with the media.

Bahraich Ground Report: Notice pasted on the house of Abdul Hamid where Ram Gopal Mishra was murdered by Islamists, bulldozer action expected

The Uttar Pradesh administration may soon take action against illegal constructions in Maharajganj area of Bahraich district. Notices have been pasted on a total of 23 houses. Among them is the house of Abdul Hameed where Ram Gopal Mishra was dragged and eventually killed. Mishra was killed on 13th October 2024 during the attack by an Islamist mob during the Durga Visarjan procession.

After the notices were pasted, many people were seen packing their belongings on 19th October 2024. The OpIndia reporter present on the ground found that some people were also vacating their shops even though they had not received the notice. Shops adjacent to the mosque are also being vacated.

Out of the 23 houses on which notices have been pasted, 19 are said to be of Muslims and 4 of Hindus. The notices, issued on 17th October, were pasted on the houses by the PWD and police administration on 18th October. It has been said that people should remove the illegal construction themselves within three days. If this does not happen, the administration will demolish them with a bulldozer. It is being said about the house of the main accused Abdul Hameed that this house earlier belonged to a Hindu family, but later Abdul’s family took it over.

Action on illegal constructions, preparations to run bulldozers

PWD officials have said that these illegal constructions were inspected earlier as well. Warnings were given then too, but no action was taken. Now, a notice has been issued again, in which time has been given to remove the illegal construction within three days. These constructions were made at a distance of 60 feet from the center of the government road without departmental permission, which is against the rules.

The notice said, “Regarding the above subject, it is to be informed that Kundasar Mahsi Nanpara road is a road of the category of major district road. As per the departmental standards, any construction within a distance of 60 feet from the middle point of the road in the rural area on the major district road without departmental permission comes under the category of illegal construction. Therefore, you are informed through the notice that if you have done this construction with the permission of District Magistrate, Bahraich or with prior departmental permission, then provide its original copy immediately and remove the said illegal construction yourself within three days. Otherwise, action will be taken to remove the illegal construction with the help of police and administration. The expenses incurred in the action will be recovered from you through revenue.”

The administration has made full preparations for the bulldozer action. PWD employees and policemen will jointly carry out this campaign. People have been asked to present valid documents of their properties within three days, so that action can be taken in case of illegal construction. Mahsi SDM Akhilesh Kumar Singh said that notices had been issued earlier also to remove encroachment, but the encroachers did not take remedial action. This time, if the instructions are not followed, then the process of removing illegal encroachment will start after three days.

Who is Abdul Hameed

Abdul Hameed is named as the main accused in the Bahraich violence. He and his family are accused of shooting and killing Ramgopal Mishra during the violence that broke out during the immersion of Maa Durga idol on October 13. Apart from Abdul Hameed, cases have also been registered against 6 other named and 4 unidentified people in this case. The police have arrested all the named accused including Hameed and sent them to jail.

It is being told that the house in which Abdul Hameed lives with his family, that house earlier belonged to a Hindu family, but Abdul Hameed’s family bought it and the Hindu family started living somewhere else. That family has also confirmed this in a conversation with OpIndia.

Meanwhile, the administration has also indicated that the properties of the accused involved in the violence will be investigated. The properties of all the accused involved in the murder of Ramgopal Mishra are also being monitored. According to the police, so far 87 accused have been arrested in this case.

Peace in Maharajganj now, but tension persists

The violent mob burned several houses, shops, bikes and cars, creating an atmosphere of panic in the area.

After the violence on October 13, 2024, there is now peace in Maharajganj market, but tension can still be felt. Police deployment continues in the market, but business activities are closed. People are in their homes since the violence and there is silence in the market.

RG Kar protest: Doctors set October 21 deadline for Mamata government to accept their demands

0

Junior doctors in West Bengal have threatened to go on a state-wide strike on October 21 if their demands are not addressed. The Junior Doctors’ strike started after the rape and murder of a colleague at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and the lack of action from the state government.

The protesting doctors, who have been protesting for nearly two months, have set a deadline for the state government to meet their demands by October 21.

On Saturday, 5th October, junior doctors protesting the rape and murder of their colleague at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, began a fast unto death. The protesting doctors have accused the West Bengal Government of failing to fulfill their demands.

Initially, six junior doctors started fast unto death. The sit-in protest was initiated after calling off the ‘total cease work’. The six doctors who sat on the fast unto death have been identified as Snigdha Hazra, Tanaya Panja, and Anustup Mukhopadhyay of Kolkata Medical College and Hospital, Arnab Mukhopadhyay of SSKM, Pulastha Acharya of NRS Medical College and Hospital, and Sayantani Ghosh Hazra of KPC Medical College.

RG Kar case

On 9th August, the semi-naked, injured body of a 31-year-old woman doctor was found in the seminar hall of Kolkata’s state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Her autopsy report confirmed rape before the murder.

A total of three persons were initially arrested in this case including Sanjay Roy, the prime accused. After the Courts came down heavily on the State government and Kolkata Police for mishandling the case, the Calcutta High Court transferred the probe from the Kolkata Police to the CBI.

Madhya Pradesh: Congress MLA makes derogatory remarks against Lord Shiva, booked

Congress MLA Babu Jandel from Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh has been booked for using derogatory remarks against Lord Shiva and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.

A video of Jandel using abusive words for Lord Shiva had gone viral on the internet, following which Hindu advocacy groups, including VHP, protested against the leader whose party is infamous for questioning the existence of Lord Ram and ridiculing Hindu beliefs.

Vishva Hindu Parishad’s legal cell’s Malwa Prant (Indore-Ujjain division) convener and lawyer Anil Naidu filed a complaint against the Congress leader, after which the police registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 302 (intentionally hurting someone’s religious feelings).

Following a case against him, Jandel defended himself stating that an edited video was being circulated online to defame him and described himself as a ‘Shiv Bhakt’.

It is noteworthy to mention that this is not the first time that Congress has found itself in soup over unsavoury remarks by its leaders against Hindu Gods. The party courted controversy earlier this year after senior party leader Rahul Gandhi contentiously proclaimed that he is “fighting against Shakti” while himself admitting that it finds reference in Hinduism.

Earlier in September 2022, Rahul Gandhi let away a Catholic pastor George Ponnaiah denigrating the revered Hindu feminine ‘Shakti’ as anything but “real God”, a definition which seemingly influenced the Gandhi scion as reflected in his clarification post on ‘Shakti’ remark.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections: NDA seat-sharing finalised after marathon meeting, to be announced soon

0

A crucial meeting regarding the NDA alliance for Maharashtra assembly elections was held at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence. The meeting on Friday lasted until around 2 AM and was attended by key figures including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The three parties had previously reached a consensus on 240 seats, but discussions were ongoing for the remaining 48 seats where alignment had been challenging.

Sources indicate that the late-night meeting, lasting nearly four hours, resulted in agreements on the seat-sharing formula and candidate placements. An official announcement is expected soon, likely through a joint press conference by the alliance.

Additionally, the parties agreed to swap seats to address anti-incumbency issues, ensuring a strategic approach to their campaigns. Earlier on October 15, Sena MP and Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant Shinde called on party workers to take the message of the Sena to all quarters.

“It’s just a question of working for one month, we want a Mahayuti government again in Maharashtra. We just need to go to the people and make them aware of the government schemes. Today the environment in the state is very goo. No matter how much the opposition may abuse him, the people have great love for Eknath Shinde. Those who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth will not know the problems of the people. Ours is a government that give and does not take,” he said.

After the recent announcement of the assembly election dates in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena convened a meeting with its office bearers on Friday. In the meeting, there was a strong push for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to be presented as the face for the chief ministerial position, a move that signals the party’s strategy as it prepares for the upcoming elections.

According to a source, the BJP is expected to contest around 150-160 seats, while Shiv Sena will likely contest 75-85 seats, and the NCP is poised to run in approximately 48-55 constituencies.

The alliance is set to reveal detailed seat-sharing information in a press conference shortly.

Baba Siddique had links with Dawood Ibrahim: Lawrence Bishnoi gang member

0

On October 12, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai. Now, news reports say that Yogesh alias Raju of Lawrence Bishnoi gang has said that Baba Siddique had connections with Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted criminal.

Yogesh was arrested last month in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, and he has claimed that Baba Siddique was not a good man and had connections to Dawood gang.

Yogesh alias Raju, an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was addressing the media after being arrested in connection with last month’s killing of gym owner Nadir Shah in Delhi’s Greater Kailash area.

“Baba Siddique was killed because he was not a good man. There were charges against him under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). It is said that he was associated with Dawood, the man behind the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts,” Yogesh said.

Yogesh was arrested after he suffered injuries in an encounter with a joint team of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and the Mathura Police on Thursday morning. Reportedly, Police also seized a .32-bore pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle from his possession.

Once he was shot in the leg, Yogesh was taken to the district hospital. He spoke about Baba Siddique while talking to reporters at the hospital on Thursday.
