Nashik District Court on Thursday sentenced Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate and his brother Sunil Kotake to two years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each in a forgery case.

In an order dated 13th February 2025, Judge Shubhendu Saha found TMC leader Bablu Mondal guilty under section 286 of IPC and Sections 3 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act.

A PIL was filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking action against the fake travel agents involved in smuggling people to foreign countries through donkey routes. The HC directed the state and the central government to respond within 30 days.

The testimonies of multiple victims indicated that the accused Maulvi Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh had a modus operandi where he invited the victims for Islamic religious healing/problem-solving using supposed supernatural methods, isolated them, and then engaged in unnatural sexual acts.

"Sumon Kumar Pal was hit on the head. It was only after that they robbed the shop. If the purpose was robbery, then they would not have hit him with the intention to murder," the locals told Ajker Patrika.

The FIR was registered on 7th February 2025 under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against two accused, including a public servant from the Office of the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA), Ministry of Defence, Defence Offices Complex, New Delhi, and a private individual who was a defence supplier.
