The Trump administration cracked down on USAID, scrutinising its global funding endeavours and ordering a freeze of money flow to foreign organisations and benching staff members. Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has posted that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has used tax dollars from US citizens to fund bioweapons research labs abroad, and the COVID pandemic was the consequence of one of such research projects.
“Did you know that USAID, using YOUR tax dollars, funded bioweapon research, including COVID-19, that killed millions of people?”, Musk posted.

Musk had posted the above message in response to a post that said USAID had collaborated with Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance on the PREDICT program, which identified 1,200 new viruses, trained 5,000 people globally in disease detection, and enhanced 60 research labs.
EcoHealth Alliance was given over $53 million dollars from USAID between 2004 and 2022, a report by The Intercept said.
Details of how Peter Daszak was involved in the gain of function research in Wuhan, and how he tried to cover up the connection by using all is power to dismiss the ‘lab leak’ theories behind the origin of COVID-19 are given here.
In recent months, the US government sources and organisations have confirmed that lab leak from Wuhan was the most likely origin of COVID.
