Beyond Delhi’s protest, CASR’s member groups have backed controversial causes, defended accused extremists, disrupted campuses and collaborated with radical activists, exposing an organised network that has long influenced narratives under the guise of student or rights-based activism.
Rejecting Tasleem Ahmed’s plea, the court noted trial delays stemmed from the accused themselves, not the prosecution or judiciary, and reiterated that bail under UAPA remains an exception even with prolonged incarceration.
The court stressed that accusations against Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam were prima facie true, citing provocative speeches, WhatsApp groups and deliberate delays by co-accused, rejecting bail pleas that relied on prolonged incarceration and systemic delay arguments.

Gulfisha Fatima was involved in the conspiratorial meeting on 23/24.01.2020 at the Seelampur and Jafrabad protest site among others like Umar Khalid and Pinjra Tod members. Gulfisha Fatim had created two Whatsapp groups called Warrior and Aurton Ka Inquilab. These groups were created on 26/12/2019.
While refusing bail, the court noted that Khalid and Imam allegedly created WhatsApp groups, spread pamphlets and delivered provocative speeches, finding prima facie material to suggest their central role in planning the Delhi riots conspiracy.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Pulastya Pramachala noted that charges against accused persons, namely: Ankit Chaudhary alias Fauji, Sumit alias Badshah, Pappu, Vijay, Ashish Kumar, Sourabh Kaushik, Bhupender, Shakti Singh, Sachin Kumar alias Rancho, Rahul and Yogesh, were not proven beyond reasonable doubt. Giving the accused persons benefit of doubt, the court acquitted them of all charges.
