The Delhi High Court has granted an interim order of status quo on a property in Batla House, Okhla, that was facing demolition. The property belongs to Ishrat Jahan, a widow who has lived in the area for over 25 years.
The demolition was originally proposed during the discussion of a Religious Committee meeting that was held on 25th October 2024, chaired by the Principal Secretary (Home), Delhi Secretariat.
Raising questions on the authenticity of the DDA notice, the locals also pointed out that the notice for the demolition of the temples in Mayur Vihar did not have any stamp or the signature of any official.
