OpIndia called Karan Singh Rajput, Range Forest Officer, Vadodara Forest Department who stated that more than 14 crocodiles had been rescued until today (Thursday, August 29, 2024). The forest department and local non-governmental organizations helped in rescuing seven crocodiles.
Superintendent of Police, Karanraj Vaghela said, "The offence has been registered under POCSO and BNS sections as per the complaint filed by the parents of the girl. The accused is a friend of the girl's father."
As the Junagadh Police swung into action and arrested five of the eight accused after registering a case against them, the protesting medicos called off their strike within hours. While the police assured that the rest of the accused would be arrested, the doctors and nursing staff returned to their respective duties.
The court stated that the accused slaughtered the cow despite knowing it was considered sacred in Hinduism and that under IPC 295, insulting any religion with malice is criminal.
Following the incident, MoS Home affairs in Gujarat government, Harsh Sanghvi informed that the Congress leaders who were part of today’s incident have been booked for insulting freedom fighters.
