Had MCD previously ensured enforcement of building norms, the three UPSC aspirants may have been alive today.

The student protests continued in the early hours of Monday also in Karol Bagh, raising various demands, including action against coaching centres and owners running libraries in basements, a rent regulation bill or code of rent regulation to control irrational rent and brokerage, and an insurance cover or grievance redressal mechanism for students.

In May 2023, Delhi HC set aside her decision noting that Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi, also the returning officer, acted beyond her powers and her decision was legally impermissible.

The bench remarked that due to non formation of the standing committee, many projects in the national capital are stalled.

Noting the submissions, the Court asked, "How have you lost possession of the parks & how can you maintain it? How can MCD lose control over its parks? Public parks can't be taken over in the 21st century. We will direct the police to take over the park."
