Sexual Assault

As per reports, a man named Huirem Herodas Meitei, aged 32 years, has been arrested. He was seen in the video wearing a green t-shirt and grabbing one of the women victims when they were paraded naked. Meitei is from Pechi Awang Leikai.

Regarding the viral video, the police on July 19 acknowledged the FIR being registered, but clarified that it is under investigation and no culprits have been nabbed so far. On July 20, CM Biren Singh has informed that the first arrest has been made.

Out of 100 allegations, 31 were related to sexual assault, and 78 pertaining to sexual harassment. Additionally, 18 staffers made allegations of racism and six others alleged homophobia.

When the victim’s friends objected to the accused persons sexually assaulting the victim, two of the accused Nainook and Nishad tried to drown them in the sea.

"The Kochi special POCSO court sentenced Monson Mavunkal to life imprisonment until the remainder of his natural life in two sections under the IPC. Sections 376(2)(n) and 376(2)(f)," said the prosecutor.
