Despite the vicious narrative pushed by The Guardian, the creation of the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ distinction has nothing to do with Prime Minister Modi himself but is instead rooted in the internal political restructuring of Seychelles.

PM Modi initially visited Seychelles in 2015 and is currently on his second visit to the vital island nation.

Several critics claimed that the distinction had been specially created to honour PM Modi during his visit, implying that the Seychelles government had hurriedly introduced a new award solely for the Indian Prime Minister. However, this is not true.
