Atiq Ahmad and his brother were shot dead by three gunmen who pretended to be journalists on Saturday night as the accused were being led by police officers to a medical college in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for a medical checkup.

Apart from the murder of MLA Raju Pal, Atiq Ahmed was also named in Lucknow's infamous Guest House case
