French Police to interrogate ISIS operative from Kerala for November 2015 terror attack

French Police is likely to question Subahani Haja Moideen, a resident of Kerala, an ISIS operative currently lodged at the Central Prison at Viyyur, Thrissur in connection with November 2015 Paris terror attack which left 129 people dead. The NIA (National Investigation Agency) which is probing ISIS network in Kerala has found that Moideen had connections with two terrorists who took part in the terror attack. According to reports, the French officials may soon seek permission from Kerala High Court to interrogate Moideen.

He was arrested by the NIA in October, 2016 from Chennai and during questioning he revealed he was part of ISIS training camp in Mosul, Iraq. He also confessed to have met Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Salah Abdelslam, the two terrorists who were part of the Paris attack in November, 2015. He had claimed he was part of the same group in which they got training. However, he claimed he did not know about the terror attacks in Paris since by the time the attacks were carried out, he had returned to India.

As per reports, Moideen was radicalised and recruited in ISIS through social media platforms and he had left India for Istanbul from Chennai in April 2015 on the pretext of performing ‘Umrah’. After fighting for ISIS, he escaped and returned back to India and was arrested while he was trying to arrange explosives from Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu.
