Ministry of Defence releases statement on the Rafale deal, punctures holes in Congress’ allegations

Following the allegations of corruption and lack of transparency on Rafale fighter jet deal by Congress on government, the Ministry of Defence today released a statement clarifying their position on the same.

In the statement, the ministry refutes the allegation levelled by Congress and even clarifies how the Congress has been giving misleading and damaging statements regarding the deal. The statement says how the UPA government sat on the negotiations even as there was an alarming decline in the strength of fighter jets.

The statement asserts that the contract government entered into in 2016 is better in terms of capability, price, equipment, delivery, maintenance, training, etc.

It also refuted Congress’ claims of prior negotiations having a clause for transfer of technology. The statement says that previous negotiations did not have any provision for transfer of technology but only to manufacture under licence.

The fact that Congress is attacking the government on these points just shows either they are hypocrites or are wilfully trying to misguide people by giving out partial and factually incorrect information.
