Kejriwal announces salary hike for Muslim clerics, says will go to any extent to defeat Modi-Shah

At the event organized by the Delhi Waqf Board, Chief Miniter was accompanied by MLA and waqf board chief Amanatullah Khan.

In a bid to appease the Muslim community of Delhi, CM of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has announced salary hike for Imams of Delhi mosque, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 18,000. The salary of the helpers would be increased from Rs 9,000 per month to Rs 16,000 per month. The amount will be received by the recipient clergies in their respective bank accounts.

At the event organized by the Delhi Waqf Board, Chief Miniter was accompanied by MLA and waqf board chief Amanatullah Khan. The event was attended by all the imams and muezzins of the national capital.

The decision will benefit Imams and Muajjins of around 185 mosques, controlled by the waqf board. The AAP supremo also announced that mosques outside the ambit of Waqf board will also get salaries like recognised mosques. The imams of such mosques will get paid Rs 14,000, while the helpers will get the sum of Rs 12,000. This would be the first time that mosques outside Waqf board, will be entitled to such reimbursements.

During the event, Kejriwal reportedly announced that he will go to any extent to defeat PM Modi and Amit Shah.

At the event, CM Kejriwal and MLA Khan, both appealed to Muslim communities to extend their support to Aam Aadmi Party, in the upcoming general elections.

“People are saying they will vote for the Congress because the next prime minister will be from that party. If that is indeed so, we will also extend support to the Congress, but in Delhi, only the AAP can defeat the BJP, not the Congress.” MLA Amanatullah Khan was quoted at the event. CM Kejriwal, extending the election pitch said that in Delhi, the fight is only between BJP and AAP, so voters should not waste their votes on Congress.
