On 25th December, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps stated in a release that security forces had seized 3.6 kg of explosives from under a bridge in Churachandpur district of Manipur. The statement noted that the Assam Rifles, under Spear Corps, and the Manipur Police, in a joint search operation, seized the explosives from Leisang village along the Imphal-Churachandpur route.

The statement on social media read, “Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of IEDs in the general area of Leisang village, Churachandpur district, Manipur, the Assam Rifles formation under Spear Corps and Manipur Police launched a joint search operation and recovered 3.6 kg of explosives, detonators, cordtex, and other accessories from under a bridge on the Imphal-Churachandpur route.”
Eva, the explosive detection dog, along with the Army’s bomb disposal squad, played a crucial role in the detection and recovery of these IEDs, the release added.
Furthermore, security forces also seized seven firearms, including an M-16 rifle with magazines, four SBBL country-made guns, one revolver, and ammunition in Moljol village of Churachandpur district. A statement by the Manipur Police read, “Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. One .303 rifle with a magazine, one M-16 rifle with a magazine, four SBBL country-made guns, one revolver pistol, and ten rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition were seized from Moljol village, Churachandpur district.”

Earlier, the Indian Army and Manipur Police had recovered five IEDs weighing 21.5 KGs from multiple locations.
