‘Every sinner has a future’: SC commutes the death sentence of Mohd. Firoz, convicted of rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl

The Supreme Court on Wednesday has cancelled the death sentence announced upon rape and murder convict Mohd. Firoz. The apex court challenged the legality of the judgement passed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur in 2014 stating that ‘every sinner has a future.’

On Wednesday, the three-member bench comprising Justices UU Lalit, S. Ravindra Bhat and Bela M. Trivedi pronounced the order observing that the maximum punishment prescribed may not always be the determinative factor for repairing the crippled psyche of the offender. The bench re-examined the evidence in the case and held a view that the prosecution was very conclusive in order to rule out the possibility of any other hypothesis except the guilt of the accused.

Madhya Pradesh HC announced the death sentence to Firoz for rape and murder of a minor girl

In 2014, the Sessions Court in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni Court had registered offences under various sections of the IPC and was directed to undergo life imprisonment in one of them. The Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur awarded the death sentence to Mohd. Firoz Khan in the same year.

The high court had dismissed the appeal of accused Firoz and confirmed the death sentence for him. Upon the death sentence, the SC panel held that it deems proper to commute the sentence of death for the sentence of imprisonment for life under Section 302 of the IPC. The panel asserted that owing to Section 376A of the IPC, the sentence of imprisonment would have been appropriate considering the gravity and seriousness of the offence.

Highlighting the tenets of restorative justice, the panel in its hearing quoted British Novelist Oscar Wilde saying, “The only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future”. The court observed that it is important to give an opportunity to the offender to repair the damage caused and to become a socially useful individual when he is released from jail. Hence, the Court finally pronounced, “While balancing the scales of retributive justice and restorative justice, we deem it appropriate to impose upon the appellant-accused, the sentence of imprisonment for a period of twenty years instead of imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life for the offence under section 376A.”

The case of Prosecution

The case unfolded in 2013 when two accused Md. Firoz Khan and Rakesh Chaudhary visited a home to provide accommodation to the said unknown person for a day. When the mother of the victim was denied, Rakesh Choudhary left while Firoz Khan grabbed an opportunity to kidnap the 4-year-old victim girl playing in the courtyard of the house.

The victim’s family had registered a missing complaint at the local police station. The next day, the girl was found lying unconscious in the field in MP’s Ghansaur. The victim died in Nagpur during the treatment in April 2013 while the postmortem report confirmed the occurrence of rape upon the girl child. The two accused were arrested from Husainabad in Bihar’s Bhagalpur and were tried before the trial court. Rakesh Chaudhary, who was earlier awarded life imprisonment, was acquitted from all charges levelled against him while the Madhya Pradesh High Court awarded Mohd. Firoz with a death sentence.

NCP leader Amol Mitkari makes fun of Hindu rituals like Kanyadaan and spreads lies, other NCP leaders sitting on the dais laugh

Amol Mitkari, an MLC of Sharad Pawar led NCP made fun of Hindu rituals like Kanyadaan at weddings while addressing a rally in NCP Pariwar Samwad Yatra at Islampur in Sangli district of Maharashtra on 19th April 2022. Amol Mitkari demeaned Hindu rituals by mimicking a Brahmin who usually performs rituals. In his speech, Amol Mitkari also told false mantras and their false meaning to disrespect Hindu rituals in general and demonize Brahmins in particular.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray had said that if the government does not take any action against the loudspeakers in the mosques, then his party members will play Hanuman Chalisa in front of the mosques in a volume double that of the Azaan. In an attempt to give what he would think to be a befitting reply to Raj Thackeray, Amol Mitkari first recited the Hanuman Chalisa and said, “Raj Thackeray need not preach us our Dharma. Before putting on a loudspeaker he should first make sure if he can really recite the Hanuman Chalisa. I remember the whole Hanuman Chalisa and I can recite it.”

Amol Mitkari then went on to recite a few verses from the Hanuman Chalisa. Applauding him, the NCP state president and a minister in the Maharashtra government Jayant Patil asked him to recite Maruti Stotram. In response to this, Amol Mitkari recited a verse from Ram Raksha Stotram that describes Lord Hanuman. As he received great applause for reciting the verse in Sanskrit, he went on to recite another verse called Sanskhipt Ramayana. This verse summarizes the whole story of Lord Rama in just four lines. At the end of the verse, Amol Mitkari mimicked a Brahmin or a priest performing rituals and said “put the water to your eyes.”

Listening to this, Jayant Patil and another NCP minister on the dais Dhananjay Munde broke into laughter. Showcasing his hatred towards the Hindu rituals, Amol Mitkari further said in a disgusting tone, “This is how it is done. Who knows when will our Bahujan Samaj get well from this?”

In a yet more disgusting voice, he said, “Do Achamanam. Leave off the water.” Continuing his address, he said, “Munde Saheb, once I went to a place. Kanyadan rituals were being performed. The girl’s father asked me to sit for a while. He said, please sit for a while Kanyadaan is going on. I asked him, Sir, I have heard of Annadaan (donating food), Netradaan (donating eyes), Raktdaan (donating blood), etc. Is the daughter an object meant for donation? He said, yes it is like this only. We have been taught like this. As he asked me to sit, I sat there on a chair.”

Amol Mitkari further said, “The bridegroom was a Ph. D. holder and the bride was an MA.” Here onwards, Amol Mitkari again mimicked the priest saying, “Dhoopam deepam naivedyam namaskaram. Put the water on your eyes.” And he went on to chant the mantras like a priest. Then came a point where he said, “Give your hand in mine. Give your wife’s hand in my hand. And then the priest said, repeat after me, I submit my wife to you. I murmured into the ears of that bridegroom. You are an idiot! That Maharaj (priest) is asking you to take your wife away.”

Then repeating his gestures of disrespect he said, “When are we going to be better? And these people are telling us about the Hanuman Chalisa today. There are more leaders to speak after my speech. Saheb, I will just complete the Udyapan (a Dharmic ritual). Only make sure that I get a proper Dakshina. The moment I get my Dakshina, I will disappear.” Indirectly Amol Mitkari was implying that the priest gives importance only to the Dakshinas and not the rituals.

What is Kanyadaan and how did Amol Mitkari spread lies about it?

The wedding ritual of Kanyadaan is a Sanskrit word that is derived from joining two separate words, Kanya, meaning girl, and Aadaan, meaning to receive. Kanyadaan is a ritual performed in Indian wedding ceremonies in which the parents of the bride solemnize her marriage with the bridegroom in front of the holy fire and the bridegroom agrees to receive the bride in his family. It is only after this ritual that the girl leaves her paternal house and goes to her in-laws. Equating the term Kanyadaan with some sort of donation Amol Mitkari objectified the women and put the onus of this act on the Hindu rituals.

Also, talking about taking one’s hand in hand, Amol Mitkari misled the audience and uttered sheer lies. While initiating the Sankalpa of the marriage rituals, the bride, her parents, and the bridegroom join their hands together to take the vow of keeping the relationship intact. Amol Mitkari spread the lie that the priest takes the hands of the couple in his hand and asks the bridegroom to submit his wife to the priest. This has possibly emerged out of the Hindu hatred in general and his Brahmin hatred in particular.

Mamata Banerjee welcomes Adani Group at Bengal Global Business Summit 2022, here is how she had denounced the conglomerate earlier

Among all the recent meetings that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee held, more eyebrows are being raised about industrialist Gautam Adani’s attendance at Bengal Global Business Summit 2022, because Mamata Banerjee herself and her party have been doing relentless mudslinging against the Adani group.

On Wednesday, the Adani Group committed to invest Rs 10,000 crore in West Bengal over the next decade. Announcing the expansion, group chief Gautam Adani at the inaugural session of Bengal Global Business Summit 2022 (BGBS) said that the investment will help the state to generate 25,000 direct and indirect employment.

“What an honor to be at BGBS 2022 and hear Hon’ble CM Mamata Didi lay out her bold vision for Bengal. This is the land that gave India some of its greatest Freedom Fighters. The Adani Group is committed to investing and making a difference to this great land of Bengal”, Adani tweeted as he committed to bring the company’s best to the state of West Bengal.

“Over the next decade, we expect our total investment in Bengal to exceed Rs 10,000 crore. Thereafter, as we continue to expand here, we will bring into Bengal our world-class expertise across the green energy value chain”, he added at the sixth edition of BGBS.

Mamta Banerjee led the government in West Bengal and held India’s first business summit after the COVID-19 period. She invited all the prominent businessmen including Gautam Adani, Ambani, Sajjan Jindal, and Kumar Mangalam Birla to the two-day event. According to the reports, Mamata Banerjee had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year and had requested him to inaugurate the sixth edition of the summit. But there was no clarity over the invitation even before two days of the event.

On December 2, 2021, Ahmedabad-based businessman Gautam Adani met Banerjee and discussed various investment possibilities in the state. Reportedly, the business tycoon met the Bengal CM at her secretariat office Nabanna in Kolkata and spent around an hour. He then confirmed that he would attend the BGBS 2022.

Ironically, Mamata Banerjee has been using the Ambani-Adani name for political mudslinging against PM Modi

It is important to note that Industrialist Gautam Adani’s meeting with West Bengal CM has been gaining attention on social media discussions because for months now, Mamata Banerjee has been accusing the BJP and particularly PM Modi of ‘favouring’ business conglomerates. Mamata Banerjee in the past years has not left one chance to use the names of Adani and Ambani for her political mudslinging against PM Modi.

Ahead of the West Bengal elections, in a bid to attack Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, both Gujaratis, Mamata Banerjee had alleged that ‘Gujaratis are trying to capture Bengal’ by bringing in goons from UP and Bihar. “Gujaratis are trying to capture Bengal by bringing goons from UP and Bihar. We will not allow Bengal to become like Gujarat. BJP tries to create a communal disturbance”, the West Bengal CM had said in one of her rallies at Howrah.

Speaking today at the BGBS, Mamata Banerjee stated, “Forget if you are from Gujarat or Maharashtra, when you are in Bengal, you are our family member.”

Further, on March 28, 2021, CM Mamata Banerjee again in an attempt to target PM Modi had alleged that all the decisions taken by the Centre were only for Ambani and Adani. “They (BJP) have a lot of money so they are trying to purchase people. Modi is taking land. He will snatch away everything as Adani is his friend”, she had stated.

She had also slammed PM Modi-led government for the renaming of Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad to Narendra Modi Stadium. “Two brothers (Adani & Ambani) are there on the two sides (ends) of the stadium (Narendra Modi Stadium). ‘Hum do, humare do ho gaya'”, she had said. The stadium has sponsored pavilions named after Ambani and Adani.

Pertinently, Banerjee in the past had forced the Tata plant to shift its car manufacturing plant to Sanand, Ahmedabad from the proposed site in Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time. The then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi had assured Tata Motors not just land at attractive rates to build a massive, state-of-the-art manufacturing factory, his government had also ensured that the plant gets built and starts manufacturing soon.

Adani’s business interest in West Bengal-

While there are speculations over the growing positive relations between Adani and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, it is worth noting that investment in West Bengal could turn out to be of huge benefit for the Adani groups in future. According to the reports, Adani was invited to the Bengal Global Business Summit in the year 2019 as well but he did not attend the Summit. His interest in West Bengal increased after Mamata Banerjee’s victory in the year 2021.

After meeting CM Mamata Banerjee in December 2021, Adani tweeted, “Discussed different investment scenarios and the tremendous potential of West Bengal. I look forward to attending the Bengal Global Business Summit in April 2022.”

Adani already has an edible oil plant, Adani Wilmar at Haldia and a city-gas distribution licence in partnership with Indian Oil in West Bengal. But the group plans to develop the Tajpur greenfield sea port in East Midnapore, plus cargo handling at Haldia port. The group also has plans to expand operations in coal mining and ethanol production from rice husk.

TMC had accused the Adani group of crony capitalism, MP had asked the Finance Minister to investigate the company

TMC leaders have been using Rahul Gandhi’s favourite chant of ‘Ambani Adani’ quite frequently to launch political attacks against the BJP, however futile that may be. In July 2021, TMC MP Mahua Moitra had written to FM Nirmala Sitharaman saying that Adani needs to be investigated for Foreign Portfolio Investments (FPI) companies holding a significant interest in Adani group companies.

“Written again to Hon’ble FM, RBI, CBDT, ED, DRI et al demanding an urgent investigation into over-invoicing by Adani companies, round-tripping of funds & dodgy FPI investments” Moitra had tweeted.

With Adani announcing a big entry in West Bengal, evidently, with the blessings of Mamata Banerjee, her jibes against the company and Gujaratis are perhaps another display of how politicians mislead the general public against job creators and business generators for narrow political gains.

United States: Black Pennsylvania cop punches a BLM protester at rally against police violence, video goes viral

A video of a black Pennsylvania police officer punching a truculent Black Lives Matter (BLM) protester at a rally against police violence is going viral on the internet.

In the video, the BLM protesters could be seen provoking and harassing the police officers, one of whom loses his cool and smacks a protester for obstructing the police from performing their duties.

As per Pittsburgh City Paper, the BLM protesters who had gathered at Saturday’s rally in the Pittsburgh suburb of Wilkinsburg started shouting at the officers who declared their protest as unlawful assembly.

The video then showed police officers trying to arrest a woman backing away and hurling obscenities, as a protester who wore a black dress pushed and shoved at them. In response to this, the officer swung a left hook at the intruding protesters, the video of which has now gone viral on social media.

The protester, who is identified as Vuestro Merced, then shouts “You’re an f-king pig”, grumbling under her breath as she is being handcuffed and led away by the officer.

In the same video, another overwrought woman could be seen screaming at the police officers, both of whom were black, that “this is what people do to fight for black people, and this is what these pigs do on the streets.”

A local reporter later shared the picture of arrested protesters to show that they were out and safe.

The BLM protesters had launched a demonstration to demand justice for Jim Rogers, a 54-year-old black man who died in October 2021 less than 24 hours after Pittsburgh police officers tased him eight times. Many protesters participated in the demonstrations to denounce Rogers’ death and demand justice for him.

The videos showed some protesters carrying a big Black Lives Matter banner in the middle of the street and chanting “One solution: revolution”, and “Pittsburgh police — enemies of the people” among other slogans.

The videos also showed police officers, who were black, being subjected to a constant barrage of abuses and invectives after they calmly asked BLM protesters to not demonstrate in the middle of the street.

For the rally organisers, ‘Justice for Jim Rogers’, the videos vindicated their stand that police were violent against their subjects. One of the organisers reportedly said that the scenes showed “clearly that those who wield violence are the police.”

“We will continue to care for one another and fight for Justice for Jim Rogers and for all victims of police brutality and anti-black violence,” the group said.

Veteran Tamil Actor Bhagyaraj hails PM Modi, says those who criticise him are born premature

Days after music legend Ilayaraja praised PM Modi for his developmental policies, Veteran Tamil Actor and Director Bhagyaraj was seen hailing the Prime Minister and lashing out at his critics. Bhagyaraj was speaking at a book launch ceremony held at the BJP office in Chennai alongside BJP state President K Annamalai.

On Tuesday, Bhagyaraj launched the book “Prime Minister’s People’s Welfare Schemes – New India 2022” in Chennai. Speaking at the event, he said, “It is a matter of pride for the Prime Minister that good plans go to the people. The name of Prime Minister Modi is written in the minds of the people. I am very proud to have received this book.”

“India needs such an energetic Prime Minister. It is really hard to face difficult situations. In other words, whatever may be the Kashmir issue, the Sri Lankan issue or the Ukraine war, there will always be criticism. Negative criticisms keep flooding against him irrespective of how he acts as PM” Bhagyaraj expressed. He added, “People would always criticize him for visiting abroad countries often. I would wonder how would he visit that many countries without rest!”

Lashing out at PM Modi’s critics, Bhagyaraj said, “Those who criticize Prime minister Modi are the ones who were born through preterm birth. Such people won’t speak good things and won’t be ready to listen to others as well. Prime minister Modi’s name is written on the hearts of people.”

Heaping praise on state BJP President K Annamalai, Bhagyaraj said, “It is a matter of pride that Annamalai has been declared the BJP state president. Many have praised him for his excellent work in Bangalore when he worked as a police officer. I was amazed when he went to Karnataka and spoke proudly about him. Thus, a special person for Tamil Nadu has been announced as the BJP leader.”

Bhagyaraj’s comments have come a few days after noted music composer Ilayaraja drew parallels between Babasaheb Ambedkar and PM Narendra Modi saying both of them were ‘striking personalities’ who ‘believed in action than a mere thought exercise’.

Viral video shows the moment when Hanuman Jayanti procession was attacked first near a mosque in Jahangirpuri, mosque attack claims fall flat

A disturbing video of a violent Muslim mob attacking Hindu devotees during the recent Shobha Yatra in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area has gone viral on social media platforms.

The video pertains to the moment exactly when the Muslim mob attacked Hindu devotees during the Hanuman Jayanti procession in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. In the video, it is clearly seen that the Muslim mob attacked the Hindu devotees from behind in front of a mosque.

On April 16, Islamists attacked Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. Several people were injured, including police personnel. So far, 40 people have been arrested by the Police in the case, including prime accused Ansar and Aslam. There have been allegations that Ansar is an Aam Aadmi Party member, and the party is yet to respond to the same.

According to the video evidence, Hindu devotees were marching with the procession on the streets of Jahangirpuri on Saturday. As they celebrated the festival with slogans, a Muslim mob attacked them from behind.

The video clearly shows that the Hindus were seen running away as soon as they were attacked from behind.

Interestingly, the attack on Hindus came in front of a mosque at Jahangirpuri, which was claimed to be attacked by the Hindus during the Hanuman Jayanthi procession on April 16.

Many ‘left-liberal’ journalists had claimed that saffron flags were hoisted atop a mosque in Jahangirpuri on the procession day. The liberal cabal took to social media to whitewash the perpetrators by claiming that a mosque was vandalised.

The left-liberal journalists had alleged that the Hindus who took out the procession not only pelted stones at the mosque but also tried to hoist a saffron flag atop the Islamic place of prayer, which led to the clashes. Hindustan Times journalist Hemani Bhandari had cited one Sajid Saifi to claim that the clashes began after Hindu worshippers forcibly entered the mosque and tried to hoist saffron flags.

Several other left-liberal journalists had also peddled the same lies to create conspiracy theories that Hindus had climbed on top of the mosque to place a saffron cloth. However, the Delhi Police categorically rubbished such claims saying no such incidents were reported in that area on the day of violence.

Addressing a press conference, Asthana had warned that some people on social media have been indulging in spreading fake news to create communal discord and impede the investigation.

However, the latest video evidence suggests that the Hindu devotees were attacked right in front of the mosque, even before any alleged attacks on the mosque happened. The Hindu devotees can be seen running away from the location, indicating that no one was left to carry out vandalism on the mosque as claimed by the left-liberal journalists.

‘Too much Anatomy and Biochemistry, Instagram better than textbooks on sexual and gender minorities’ Jamia Hamdard’s Dr Aqsa Shaikh wants to ‘change’ medical education

On April 15, Dr Aqsa Shaikh, a self-proclaimed queer activist, teacher of community medicine at Jamia Hamdard and nodal officer of a COVID vaccination centre, sparked a controversy by saying that the medical curriculum in India teaches “too much Anatomy and Biochemistry”. Dr Aqsa also claimed heterosexual doctors should not teach about queer lives. Furthermore, she said, “Instagram teaches more about sexual and gender Minorities than textbooks.” Her statement attracted strong criticism on social media.

‘We are Anatomy and Biochemistry’

In a series of tweets, Dr Aqsa mentioned the points she had raised during a panel discussion on making Medical Curriculum queer affirmative at AIIMS. She said the fraternity should stop ‘medicalising queer identities’. Furthermore, she claimed that the Indian medicine curriculum is teaching ‘too much of Anatomy and Biochemistry’. According to her, 5.5 years were not enough to learn about health.

‘Teach humanities with medicine’

Dr Aqsa demanded that Medical Science should be turned into a Bachelor of Health and the students should be taught subjects of humanities with medicines. She said it is “time to reverse Miller’s Pyramid, Empathy should be the base, not Cognitive domain.” She claimed the CBME (Competency Based Medical Education) curriculum is flawed and suggested that doctors should be political.

‘Instagram teaches more compared to textbooks’

Interestingly, she added that Heterosexual people should not teach about queer lives and demanded more ‘marginalised communities’ should be brought in as teaching staff. According to Dr Aqsa, the current Transgender Act has many anti-queer laws, and it needs amendments. The education about queer should begin at the primary level and not at medical school. One of the most controversial statements she made in her tweets was that Instagram taught more about sexual and gender minorities compared to the textbooks.

Her statement has attracted sharp criticism, especially from the Medical community on Twitter. Dr Lira questioned why such discussions were even allowed by AIIMS. She said, “From where is this irrational thinking seeping into #medical system? Why is AIIMS even allowing this? Medicine is pure Science unadulterated by Identity politics, religion and superstitions. One can practice medicine with basic human decency without needless affirmation.”

Dr Pranay said, “First, it made me laugh. Then I realised she was serious. Not just a tweet, but this was rather a panel discussion at AIIMS. I’m worried now. Ridiculous is too small a term for this.”

Dr Apporva Verma said, “Too much anatomy? Seriously? While I get 1st point, I’d like to know this person’s qualification to have uttered such statement as the 2nd point.”

Speaking to OpIndia, Dr Haryax Pathak said, “While the issue in the hand of LGBTQ rights and awareness is a genuine one, there has to be a systematic approach towards it. It starts by educating people. The biology behind it. The history behind it. That means more Anatomy, more Biochemistry – not less. Training empathy is required, but it is a slow process. I’m against the claim that doctors must be political. I can have political preferences as an individual – but they don’t reflect in my professional life. Doctors don’t differentiate or discriminate on a political basis.”

He further added, “Claims that Instagram teaches more than medical school are way harmful. There has to be a professional approach to medical education. Ironical that slurs of WhatsApp University are passed around while promoting Instagram education.” He agreed there was a need for some legal amendments as transgenders are humans too, and they have rights equal to everybody else.

Loudspeaker in mosques: Sanjay Raut says Balasaheb Thackeray’s opinions from the 90s are of no use today

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut recently appeared to have said that Balasaheb Thackeray’s opinions from the 90s are of no use today. He made these remarks while speaking in an interview with TV9 Marathi on 18th April 2022. He made this statement when asked questions about Shiv Sena’s Hindutva issue being hijacked by Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

While reacting to a question regarding Raj Thackeray’s recent stance against the loudspeakers mounted on the mosques, Sanjay Raut said Balasaheb Thackeray first raised this issue. Raut further said that the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena need not preach wisdom to Shiv Sena and the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. When he made such a claim, then the TV9 Marathi anchor showed him a clip of Balasaheb Thackeray’s speech that he gave in 1994.

In this speech, Balasaheb Thackeray had said, “I will tell Sarpotdar that one of your cases is still pending in the court. And that is the case regarding the loudspeakers in the mosques. When these loudspeakers will be taken down? The Kolkata High Court has ruled that first take these loudspeakers down. More dangerous news followed when these loudspeakers were being taken down. I must tell that news for the reporters and journalists to know. This government in our Maharashtra state… It has done its own circumcision and issued a Fatwa. The Fatwa of this government asks what could be the possible number if the government decides to give pensions to all the Imams in the mosques. And listen carefully, Imams in the mosques and not the priests in the temples. So they have asked this question to the Charity Commissioner through the Fatwa. This government has asked the Charity Commissioner to give the total count of the Imams in the mosques and how much budget will be needed to pay them their pensions. Does Sharad Pawar have any iota of shame left with him? So what you are waiting for. This time finish off the Congress party from the political spectrum of Maharashtra.”

Replying to this, Sanjay Raut said, “Don’t show me this video. I have worked for a long time with him. Showing a byte of Balasaheb Thackeray from the year 1994 or 1990 is meaningless and useless today.” When crossed by the anchor he further said, “Don’t show me any of his bytes. I have worked with him for 35 years.”

As Raj Thackeray has picked up the Azaan row and gave the ultimatum of 3rd May 2022 to the state government to remove the loudspeakers from the mosques, Shiv Sena is being questioned on its stand on the issue.

However, the Shiv Sena, currently in an alliance with Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Congress, is far from the political ideals founded by Balasaheb Thackeray.

‘Woke Mind Virus making Netflix unwatchable’: Elon Musk’s tweet triggers social media speculations about the streaming giant’s future

Netflix suffered its first subscriber loss in more than a decade, causing its shares to plunge by 25 per cent. The streaming giant reported the loss of 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter, triggering a drastic downfall in its stock prices. The news sent shockwaves across the world, with notable personalities, including Tech billionaire Elon Musk, weighing in their views on why Netflix has been witnessing an unprecedented slump.

Elon Musk, who has open aspirations to buy the whole of Twitter Inc., took to Twitter to share his thoughts about why Netflix has been losing its customer base. In his tweet, Musk held the “woke mind virus” responsible for making Netflix “unwatchable”.

The Tesla CEO was replying to a tweet by Slashdot.com saying that it’s ‘the woke mind virus’ that is making Netflix unwatchable. Musk’s opinion on Netflix triggered speculation about the streaming giant’s future given that the last time when the Billionaire expressed his disgust for wokeness, he ended up buying a 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter, a company he felt was consistently performing below par. Later, he offered $43 billion to buy out the social media tech giant.

Elon Musk’s castigatory tweet on Netflix triggers social media speculations

With Elon Musk speaking on Netflix’s losses, social media users could not help but start speculating about the fate of the streaming behemoth. Many Twitter users agreed with Musk and took a dig at Netflix over its content. A user tried to suggest that in the wake of Black representation, Twitter might come up with a series on Russian President Putin played by a Black actor.

Another Twitter user suggested that woke mind virus is the biggest threat facing the civilisation, to which Musk responded in affirmative.

When a Twitter user asked Elon Musk which shows he finds infected by the ‘woke Virus’, A social media user shared a poster of a series apparently screened on Netflix that depicted a man getting ready for his pregnancy.

Another Twitter user was quite straightforward in asking Musk to buy Netflix and purge it of the woke content.

Still another user commented that after Musk takes over Twitter and fires its employees for not showing up in the office, Netflix will be his next takeover.

Elon Musk offers to buy out Twitter

The Internet has already started pondering over whether Netflix is next on Elon’s list of purchases after Twitter. After the open condemnation of Twitter’s biased algorithmic policies, Elon Musk came out as the biggest independent shareholder in the company. Later, he straightforwardly proposed to buy the company and make it private. It could only be a possibility for the world to wake up and see the world’s richest man trying to battle it out with ‘wokeness’ with his purchasing power.

Reportedly, the streaming Giant has expected to lose over 2 million subscribers in the second quarter. The company said that the suspension of its service in Russia and the cutting down of all of its Russian paid memberships resulted in a loss of 7 lakh subscribers. Earlier, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings was anguished about the company’s lacklustre performance in India while recording a slump in the growth of its subscriber base. When Hastings had expressed his concerns in an interview, Netizens too had blamed Netflix’s poor performance owing to its woke and Hinduphobic content.

‘Demolish Amit Shah’s house to stop riots’: AAP’s Raghav Chadha over demolition drive in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri

Hours after the anti-encroachment drive began in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha on Wednesday stated that Bharatiya Janata Party’s head office should be demolished. He blamed the party for allegedly orchestrating the riots and further said that Home Minister Amit Shah’s house should also be razed to the ground.

Answering the question about the ‘bulldozer effect’ post riots, Chadha said BJP is responsible for all riots in India. He further added that the demolition of the BJP’s HQ office could end all the violence. “I guarantee, if BJP’s head office is demolished, the riots happening now and then in India will stop”, Chadha said.

He further alleged that BJP has rehabilitated Bangladeshi refugees and Rohingyas in various parts of the country and is using them to escalate riots in India. He also said that if BJP wants to bulldoze the illegal properties, it should also roll the bulldozers over illegal properties allegedly owned by the BJP leaders.

Meanwhile, Congress’s Rahul Gandhi also backed the rioters whose illegal properties were razed today and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should switch off the bulldozers of hate. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation began the anti-encroachment drive across Delhi today, rolling bulldozers over the illegal properties in the Jahangirpuri area. The anti-encroachment drive was executed in presence of a heavy police force who provided security to the civic agency.

Jahangirpuri violence: Islamists attack Hanuman Jayanti procession

This is after the Hanuman Jayanti procession was attacked by Islamists who pelted stones and glass bottles at the procession. Several people got injured as the violence escalated after 6 pm. They (Islamists) also fired gun stots amid the violence and injured Police personnel.

It is important to note that the prime accused in the Jahangirpuri violence has been identified as Ansar and Md. Aslam. As reported earlier, Ansar is associated with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi. He had actively campaigned for the Party during Delhi Elections. The Aam Aadmi Party is yet to respond to the allegations or issue a clarification on the matter. Another accused arrested has been identified as Ghulam Rasool alias Gulli.

The Delhi Police has so far arrested 23 people and apprehended two juveniles in the case and lodged an FIR under provisions 147 (Rioting), 148 (Armed rioting), 186 (Obstructing duty of public servant), 353 (Assault on public servant), 307 (Murder attempt), 427 (damage to property), and 436 (Attack by explosives) of the Indian penal code along with section 27 of the Arms Act 1959.
