How AAP ties itself in knots after trying to wash hands off arrested Jahangirpuri violence accused Ansar

After the BJP highlighted the connections of Ansar, the main accused in Jahangirpuri violence, with the Aam Aadmi Party, the party was quick to activate a defence and counter-allegation campaign.

On Tuesday, Delhi AAP leader Atishi tweeted photos of Ansar participating in a rally of a former ‘BJP candidate’ Sangeeta Bajaj alleging that he has played a major role in getting BJP’s candidate Sangeeta Bajaj to contest in an election. Bajaj had reportedly contested the 2017 MCD elections on a BJP ticket.

Atishi further went on to suggest that Ansar, the main accused in instigating the Jahangirpuri violence continues to play an active role in the BJP. This was followed by The AAP IT Cell tweeting the Ansar’s pictures repeatedly to claim that the mastermind was a BJP member. With this, The AAP machinery and its aligned media tried to suggest that since Ansar was a BJP member, he instigated the riots at the behest of the party. “It is clear that the BJP got the riots done,” Atishi Tweeted

However, AAP’s attempts to distance itself from the accused didn’t bring much to them when social media users pointed out that Ansar has been associated with AAP. Popular Twitter user @FabulasGuy replied to Atishi saying that Sangeeta Bajaj drifted to the AAP from BJP in 2020 itself. The Twitter user posted a screengrab of AAP’s tweet announcing several Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee leaders quitting the party to join AAP in presence of senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh.

BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala refuting AAP’s claims shared several screenshots highlighting Sangeeta Bajaj’s association with AAP. Poonawala’s tweet entails information on AAP’s website which details Ex-BJP Nagar Nigam candidate Bajaj’s entry into the AAP.

Prior to AAP’s tweet, several BJP leaders tweeted photos of Ansar participating in AAP functions. In these photos, he was clearly seen wearing an AAP cap during a party demonstration. Many pictures of Ansaar have resurfaced on the internet wherein he is seen flaunting his jewellery, and high-end cars and could be seen enjoying liquor. BJP National spokesperson Kapil Mishra has also claimed that Ansar has connections with the likes of Tahir Hussain, Khalid Saifi and Umar Khalid.

Who is Ansar?

Among the several arrests made by Delhi Police for rioting with swords and pelting stones at the Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, Ansar has been named as the main conspirator for instigating the violence on the procession. Ansar was identified as the Muslim leader of the area who started the confrontation that led to the violence. He has previously been allegedly involved in mobilizing people from Jahangirpuri to Shaheen Bagh during anti-CAA protests. As per Delhi Police, he was previously involved in two cases of assault and was also charged repeatedly under preventive sections and booked five times under the Gambling Act and the Arms Act.

With Ansar’s links with AAP now evident, the party’s attempts in distancing itself from the accused have failed. It can be noted the AAP’s interaction with rabid Islamist leaders from Amanatullah Khan to Tahir Hussain to Ansar is a full circle in its populist compromises.

‘Former Kenyan President’s daughter Rosemary Odinga regained eyesight with Ayurvedic treatment’: PM Modi at AYUSH Summit

On April 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at the first Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit (GAIIS) at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In his address, he talked about the experience Kenya’s former President Raila Odinga had shared with him. He had told PM Modi that his daughter Rosemary Odinga had lost eyesight after surgery for a brain tumour. It was the Ayurvedic treatment she had received in India that helped her regain eyesight.

Ralia Odinga was all praise for Ayurvedic treatment that helped restore his daughter’s vision

Earlier this year, Raila Odinga was all praise for the Ayurvedic treatment rendered by the Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eyecare Hospital in Koothattukulam in Ernakulam, that has helped his daughter regain her eyesight.

“I came to India for my daughter’s eye treatment in Kochi, Kerala. After three weeks of treatment, there was a substantial improvement in her eyesight. It was a big surprise for my family that our daughter could see almost everything,” Odinga had said then.

Odinga had also shared about the ordeal his daughter had to face after undergoing eye surgeries in many African nations and around the world but with no results. With surgeries not helping to restore his daughter’s eyesight, Odinga turned to India for Ayurvedic treatment to help Rosemary regain her eyesight that she had lost in 2019.

On his way back home to Kenya, Odinga had met PM Modi in Delhi and requested him to help spread ayurvedic eye care that had helped restore his daughter’s eyesight, across the world.

PM Modi speaks about AYUSH supplements help people build immunity

PM Modi mentioned how AYUSH products helped in improving the immunity of Indians. He said, “During the Covid-19 pandemic, AYUSH kadha and supplements were widely used by the people of India to improve their immunity. The export of turmeric was increased by several folds during that period which is a sign that the world is accepting the traditional medicines.”

He added Covid-19 pandemic also showed how pharma companies and vaccine manufacturers can do wonders with timely investment. “Who would have thought India would be able to develop a Made-in-India vaccine so quickly. It is clearly visible how innovation and investment increase potential in all sectors.” He said now is the right time to bring investment in the AYUSH sector as well. “This summit will encourage investment in this sector. AYUSH has huge investment and innovation possibilities. AYUSH medicines, supplements and cosmetics have seen notable progress in recent years,” he added.

PM Modi said before 2014, AYUSH was a 3 billion dollar industry, but now it has become an 18 billion dollar industry. “The demand for Ayush products is increasing across the world, and it will see notable growth in the near future. Supplement development, supply chain management, telemedicine and other industries in this sector have huge possibilities for investment and innovation,” PM added.

PM said the AYUSH Ministry had taken many steps to encourage start-ups in the sector. He said, “Everyone knows that India is seeing a golden period of start-ups. It is the time of Indian unicorns. In less than four months in 2022, 14 start-ups have already joined the unicorn club, and I am sure we will see a unicorn in the AYUSH sector very soon.”

PM said herbal plants are a treasure for the farmers. Himalaya is known for its herbal plants. He said, “There is a saying that there is every alphabet has a Mantra that starts with it, and every root has the potential to become medicine.” He added herbal and medicinal plants could increase the income of the farmers by several folds. However, he noted that the market for such plants is very small. “The government is working on developing an e-market for the farmers where they will be able to connect to the companies that use such plants. It will make it much easier for the farmers to sell their produce.”

PM said the government is also working with other countries to get approval for the AYUSH medicines and supplements. Extensive work is in progress to explore the market in at least 150 countries for the AYUSH products. He added that the AYUSH Export Council is exploring the possibilities in foreign markets. “ FSSAI has added a new category of AYUSH aahar (food) has been added recently. It will help in exploring the market for the nutritional products,” he said.

PM Announced AYUSH Mark, AYUSH Park and AYUSH Visa

PM also announced AYUSH Mark, which will become the global identity for the best AYUSH products. “It will give customer satisfaction to the consumers across the world that they are getting quality Ayush products.”

PM also announced AYUSH Park Network that would provide a new path to the manufacturing industry. Speaking about medical tourism, PM said, “AYUSH has a lot of potential in medical tourism as well. We have seen how traditional medicine has helped Kerala in improving tourism. Every part of India has such potential. ‘Heal In India’ can become a large brand.” PM added that the modern infrastructure would help in improving medical tourism with traditional medicine in different parts of the country.

PM announced that the government would soon launch Ayush Visa, which will help the foreigners to visit India for medical tourism with traditional medicine.

India has a history of the open-source model: PM Modi

PM said the traditional medicine knowledge of India is a treasure for the world. “We are here to reduce the pain of the world. For thousands of years, Ayurveda has been a symbol of healing. We have heard since Ramayana about the wonders of Ayurveda. When Lakshman Ji was unconscious, Hanuman Ji went to Himalaya to get the medicine. Atmanirbhar Bharat was a concept during Ramayana time as well.”

He added that Ayurveda is based on an open-source model. He said, “Open source model is widely appreciated in today’s world. They think that they invented the system. However, India has a long history of the open-source model, and Ayurveda is a perfect example of it. For thousands of years, whoever found new information added it to the text. The open-source model is in our roots.”

Towards the end of his address, he said WHO’s Tedros Ghebreyesus had requested him to give him a Gujarati name. He said, “On today’s auspicious occasion, I give you a new name ‘, Tulsi Bhai’.” He also explained how the Tulsi plant holds utmost importance in Hinduism and is worshipped by the devoted Hindus.

Communist leader Brinda Karat reaches Jahangirpuri to implement Supreme Court order, leftist journos outrage over order not being followed immediately

Communist Party of India(Marxist) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat reached Delhi’s Jahangirpuri to ‘implement’ the Supreme Court order staying theongoing demolition drive carried out by the NDMC officials.

Within an hour after the Supreme Court ordered to maintain the status quo in the ongoing demolition drive being carried out by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, Communist leader Brinda Karat arrived in Jahangirpuri with the Supreme Court order asking the authorities to stop the demolition process immediately.

However, the Delhi police asked the controversial Communist leader to vacate the demolition site and not create any chaos.

“At 10:45 am, the SC gave the order to maintain the status quo on the demolition drive, I have come here for the implementation of the order”, claimed CPIM leader Brinda Karat.

She also claimed that illegal demolitions have bulldozed the law and the constitution. At least the Supreme Court and its order should not be bulldozed, she added. On the other hand, the officials had said that they had not received the Supreme Court order yet and that’s why the demolition work was continued.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court stopped the anti-encroachment drive by authorities in the Jahangirpuri area. A bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana ordered status quo in the present situation and said the petition would be listed before an appropriate bench.

Left-Liberal journalist outrage over delay in implementing Supreme Court’s order

Amidst little uncertainty over the Supreme Court orders on the recent demolition drive and the delay in the authorities receiving the Supreme Court order, some left-liberal journalists took to Twitter to attack the NDMC officials for not stopping the demolition drive despite Supreme Court’s order.

Several ‘secular-liberal’ journalists lashed out at NDMC officials to claim that the actions of the authorities were nothing but contempt of court.

Vakasha Sachdev, who claims to be a journalist, asked for the courts to take action against NDMC officials for allegedly carrying out demolition drives despite SC’s order. He wanted the officials to be suspended.

Hartosh Singh Bal, an alleged journalist, angrily responded by saying that the municipality answering to the Modi government made a mockery of the Supreme Court’s order.

NDTV, the far-left propaganda outlet, was also unhappy at the NDMC officials’ demolition drive. They claimed that the NDMC officials carried out an anti-encroachment drive nearly two hours after Supreme Court’s order.

Another ‘journalist’, Parth MN, claimed that the Supreme Court had held Prashant Bhushan guilty of contempt over his tweets, however, it will not be surprising if NDMC ignores the Supreme Court order ad gets away with it.

As the demolition drive was continued even after the apex court had ordered to stop it, advocate Dushyant Dave mentioned the matter to the CJI. After that, CJI NV Ramana directed the Supreme Court Registry to communicate the order to North MCD Mayor, Commissioner and Police Commissioner. Following this, the demolition drive was stopped.

Brinda Karat said that Special CP has assured her that no demolition will take place in accordance with the SC order. She appealed to the people of Jahangirpuri to maintain peace and harmony and wait for SC’s next order.

On Wednesday, the NDMC started off a two-day anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri on Wednesday amidst heavy police presence. On Saturday, the area had seen the worst riots after a Muslim mob unleashed violence on Hindu devotees participating in the Hanuma Jayanthi celebrations.

Delhi High Court issues notice to Central govt on plea challenging the constitutional validity of Waqf Act 1995

The Delhi High Court issued a notice on 20th April 2022 in a plea challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf Act 1995. The plea was filed by Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay. Ashwini Upadhyay stated in his plea that the Waqf Act is antithetical to Secularism in India.

A Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla of the Delhi High Court issued notices to Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Law Commission of India in the matter, asking them to file their counter affidavits within 4 weeks.

The court also issued a notice to the Central Waqf Board. The court had noted that the petitioner has not impleaded the Waqf board even though he had challenged the Waqf act. The bench directed to implead the Central Waqf Board, and asked Upadhyay to make them a party to the case.

The next hearing in the case has been scheduled on on 28 July.

Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay had filed public interest litigation (PIL) in the Delhi High Court challenging the Waqf Act 1995. The PIL stated that the Act is made under the garb of managing waqf properties but there are no similar laws for followers of other religions. The PIL challenged the validity of various provisions under this act. Upadhyay pleaded that the Act is against secularism, unity, and integrity of the nation. He also highlighted that the Waqf is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.

Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma represented the Union of India in the court. He told the court that this plea raises substantial questions, even though one of the aspects of the plea, i.e. that the act doesn’t mention a statement of the object and reason is incorrect.

Justice Naveen Chawla heard the petition and the response by the Union of India to the same. The petition challenged the validity of Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 14 of the Waqf Act, 1995 and prayed for directions to the Central Government or Law Commission of India to draft a Uniform code for trust-trustees and charities-charitable institutions.

In his plea, Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay had said, “If the impugned Act has been made to protect the rights guaranteed under Articles 29-30 then it has to cover all the minorities i.e., followers of Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Bahaism, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, and not only Islam.” The petitioner argued that there is no safeguard for Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and other Communities to save their properties from inclusion in the list of Waqf issued by Waqf Boards. Therefore, Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, Bahais, Christians and Zoroastrians are discriminated.

Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay pointed how govt makes payments on Waqf Board but does not collect any revenue, and collects money from Hindu temples but does not spend anything on them. The plea said that the  Waqf Board has Muslim MLA, MP, IAS Officer, town planner, advocates and scholars as its members who are paid from the public exchequer, despite the fact the Centre doesn’t collect any money from mosques or dargahs. “On the other hand, States collect around one lakh crores from four lakh temples but there are no similar provisions for Hindus. Thus, the Act offends Article 27,” Upadhyay argued in his petition.

The petition also seeks direction to the Central govt or the Law Commission of India to draft a ‘Uniform Code for Trust-Trustees and Charities-Charitable Institutions’ in spirit of Articles 14 and 15 and publish it for public debate and feedback.

The disputes relating to the Waqf properties are decided by the Waqf Tribunal as per the Waqf Act. The PIL also challenges this provision and seeks direction that the dispute relating to religious properties shall be decided by the Civil Court only under Section 9 of the Civil Procedure Code 1908.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to hear the plea seeking directions to the central government or the law commission of India to draft a ‘Uniform Code for Trust-Trustees and Charities-Charitable Institutions’ in the spirit of Articles 14 &15 of the Constitution. The Supreme Court’s bench said that it cannot direct the parliament to enact such a law.

PM Modi renames WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus as “Tulsi Bhai” at Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit

Sharing a light moment, PM Modi on Wednesday renamed the Director-General of WHO Tedros Ghebreyesus as “Tulsi Bhai” while speaking at the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit in Gandhinagar.

“Earlier this morning, Tedros met me and told me that he is a pakka Gujarati now so rename him with a Gujarati name. A short while ago, he asked me if I have found a Gujarati name for him. So today, I rename my close friend Tedros as Tulsi Bhai,” PM Modi said.

He further added, “Tulsi holds a special significance for us Indians since time immemorial. It is a tradition to have a Tulsi plant in front of our houses. Tulsi is also a chief component of India’s spiritual heritage. So when a summit is happening on Ayurveda, Tulsi is the most appropriate name. And in Gujarati, we have a practice of suffixing names with Bhai. Hence, Tulsi Bhai.”

In attendance were the World Health Organization’s Director-General Dr Tredos Ghebreyesus, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi also highlighted how innovation and investment are key to driving competence in any particular field. “Innovation and investment play a significant role in expanding capabilities in any sector. The first investment summit for the AYUSH sector will therefore help in augmenting the sector’s capabilities,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also enunciated on how the AYUSH products have helped patients not only in India but across the world. He also informed that the government is now going to make a special AYUSH mark which will be applied to the highest quality Ayush products made in India.

Besides, PM Modi also announced that to provide better access to traditional medicines in India, the government is going to introduce a special AYUSH visa category for foreign nationals who want to come to India to take advantage of AYUSH therapy.

Pitching India as an attractive destination for investment, PM Modi said the country is fast turning into an economic and business hub, highlighting how 14 startups have joined the unicorn club within first 4 months of 2022. “I am confident that unicorns will soon emerge from AYUSH start-ups,” PM Modi said.

We can’t say anything right now. Rahul is in the hospital and we’ll start investigating him once he is cured”, he added. He also said that Rajan alias Rahul had been encountered two times in the past and this is the third encounter.

Earlier the day, the Delhi Police had arrested another accused named Ghulam Rasool alias Gulli in connection with the Jahangirpuri clashes during Shobha Yatra on Hanuman Jayanti. According to the reports, the Police have arrested people from both the communities. Reportedly, five members and one minor from the same family were also arrested on the charges of creating violence on April 16.

The accused were identified as Suken Sarkar, his brother Suresh Sarkar, Suken’s two sons Neeraj and Suraj, and Suken’s brother-in-law Sujit. Police also detained Suken’s minor son. However, family members of the accused stated to Zee news that the Islamists had pelted stones at the procession and the participants. The Sarkars were severely injured as they protected the Hanuman idol on the chariot.

The Jahangirpuri Violence-

On April 16, the Hanuman Jayanti procession was attacked by Islamists who pelted stones and glass bottles at the procession. Several people got injured as the violence escalated after 6 pm. They (Islamists) also fired gun stots amid the violence and injured Police personnel.

The Delhi Police has so far arrested 23 people and apprehended two juveniles in the case and lodged an FIR under provisions 147 (Rioting), 148 (Armed rioting), 186 (Obstructing duty of public servant), 353 (Assault on public servant), 307 (Attempt to murder), 427 (damage to property), and 436 (Attack by explosives) of the Indian penal code along with section 27 of the Arms Act 1959.

The case of the Jahangirpuri incident is being investigated by the Delhi Police’s special cell and crime branch. Ten investigation teams have been constituted to look into the incident. Also, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation began the anti-encroachment drive across Delhi, rolling bulldozers over the illegal properties in the Jahangirpuri on Wednesday. The anti-encroachment drive was executed in presence of a heavy police force who provided security to the civic agency.

The Delhi Police has assured that harsh action will be taken against rioters and has urged the civilians not to believe rumors and fake news on social media. Section 144 in the area stays imposed as investigations are underway.

12-year-old girl student harassed for wearing Vibhuti, Parents allege conversion attempt in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur school

0

Shocking news has come from Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur, where parents of a 6th-grade student have complained about forced conversion practices taking place in the city’s Jaivabai Municipal Girls Higher Secondary School. A 12-year-old girl studying in the government-aided school has alleged that Christian teachers abused her for wearing the Pattai (Vibhuti) and targetted her over her religion.

As per the video posted by Hindu Munnani on Facebook, the girl is seen recounting instances where she had to face the brunt of Christian teachers for being Hindu. According to the girl, one day, she was outrightly asked by her teacher ‘who saved us by sacrificing their life.’ When an unexpected reply came from the girl’s side, the teacher asserted, “Jesus gave his life for us. Why do none of you say his name?”. Another day, as part of her handwriting exercise, when the victim wrote the names of Muruga, Krishna and other Hindu deities in Tamil, the teacher scolded her telling not to write such things.

As per the girl’s complaint, the Tamil teacher, who is Christian by religion, even asked the students to pray with folded hands in a Christian way. One day, she pointed out the Vibhuti applied by the girl on her forehead interrogating,” How long does it take to wear that? Who applies it on your forehead?” According to the girl, she was also abused for wearing a Rudraksha mala. She was singled out as a punishment and was made to stand during the whole class for apparently scoring fewer marks, when the teacher ordered her, “Hey you Pattai wearing donkey, stand up!”

The parents have lodged a complaint against the teacher alleging open conversion practices and abuse of Hindu Gods happening in government-aided schools. The parents have demanded action against the teacher with a plea that such incidents should not take place in the future. Investigation Officer Ramesh has said, “We are investigating the matter. If true, action will be taken.”

Hindu Munnani has raised a voice calling it a case of compulsory proselytization in Government schools. “Compulsory conversion atrocities are taking place in all government schools across Tamil Nadu. What does the school education department do? Public outrage will erupt if proper action is not taken, ” Senthil Kumar Secretary, Hindu Munnani said.

Last week, a similar complaint was registered by a girl against a Christian teacher who abused the Hindu deities and forced the students to recite Christian prayers in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari. Earlier in January, Lavanya, 12th standard student from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Thirukattupali in Thanjavur died by suicide herself after she was tortured by her school authorities to convert to Christianity.

SC orders status-quo on demolition drive conducted by North Delhi Municipal Corporation in violence-hit Jahangirpuri

In a significant decision, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered to maintain the status quo in the ongoing demolition drive being carried out by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.

Hearing the petition, the Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice NV Ramana ordered the authorities to maintain the status-quo on the demolition drive and not to continue with the demolition started by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation against encroachers.

Supreme Court advocate Dushyant Dave mentioned the matter before Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana.

“Unconstitutional, unauthorised demolition is taking place in Jahangirpuri where riots took place. No notice was served, so that reply is served in 10 days,” Dave said.

The petitioners had claimed that there was an increase in incidents of demolition of properties by government administration in several states, including the recent incident from Madhya Pradesh, as a punitive measure towards people allegedly involved in criminal incidents such as riots.

“A number of ministers and legislators, including the Chief Minister and the Home Minister of the state of Madhya Pradesh, have made statements advocating such acts and especially threatened the minority groups with the destruction of their homes and commercial properties in case of riots,” the petition said.

In response, the Court said it would list the case tomorrow and directed the status quo.

A public interest litigation petition (PIL) was filed by Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind seeking directions to the Central and State governments that no residential accommodation or commercial property be demolished as a punitive measure was also mentioned before the CJI.

Earlier on Wednesday, the NMDC had started its anti-encroachment drive in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area amid a heavy police presence. Many bulldozers had started bringing down illegal structures, shops and other encroachments.

The NMDC had requested over 400 personnel from the Delhi police to carry out the anti-encroachment drive in the Jahangirpuri area. The area had witnessed severe violence on April 16 when a Hindu procession on Hanuman Jayanti was attacked with stones, bottles and gunshots by a Muslim mob.

As per the latest updates, though the SC has ordered a status quo, the order is yet to reach NMDC. So the demolition drive is continuing. Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh has stated that the drive will be halted when they receive the order.

‘Punjab Police at my door’, says Kumar Vishwas, warns Bhagwant Mann that Kejriwal will soon betray him and Punjab

On Wednesday, Punjab Police arrived at the doorsteps of former Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Dr Kumar Vishwas in Ghaziabad. Vishwas himself tweeted the information and slammed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly misusing the Aam Aadmi Party’s power established in Punjab.

“The Punjab Police has arrived at home this morning. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann is allowing Delhi CM to misuse the Punjab Police for politics. One day Kejriwal will betray CM Bhagwant Mann and also the state of Punjab”, he warned on April 20.

Vishwas also stated that he had introduced CM Bhagwant Mann to the Aam Aadmi Party and today was feeling betrayed due to action taken by Mann against him following the orders of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.

While the reason for the Police visit is not yet clear, reports mention that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has ordered the Punjab Police to probe Vishwas for his alleged remarks he made against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during the Punjab Assembly elections.

On February 16, in a sensational development amid the state assembly elections, Kumar Vishwas had highlighted Kejriwal’s compromise for power in Punjab by siding with Khalistani separatists. According to him, Kejriwal at one point had claimed, “Either I will become Chief Minister of the state or I will become first Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan).” Vishwas had alleged that deep-rooted separatism had engulfed Kejriwal’s mind in his quest for power.

Reportedly, after his comments, AAP leader Raghav Chadha issued a threat to the media saying that AAP would take stringent legal action against the media houses for covering the allegations as posed by Vishwas.

Vishwas later affirmed that it was AAP’s old policy to issue threats to TV channels and journalists. He said that senior journalists of popular media channels avoided asking questions to Kejriwal related to the distribution of Rajya Sabha seats in Punjab, Farmer’s protest, and more as they were barred from asking such questions beforehand. Kumar Vishwas also alleged that AAP gives ad deals to TV channels worth crores, with an inclusive clause mentioning ‘not to ask uncomfortable questions’.

The war of words between Dr Kumar Vishwas, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and AAP leader Raghav Chadha has escalated further, with Punjab police knocking at the doors of Vishwas. Details are awaited as to the reason behind police presence around Vishwas’ residence.

Kerala: P Sasi, once accused of sexual misconduct by own party member, appointed as Pinarayi Vijayan’s political secretary

CPIM state committee member P Sasi, who is accused of sexual misconduct and was expelled from the party in 2011, is all set to be the political secretary of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, as per reports.

According to the reports, the CPIM announced that the party’s state committee member P Sasi would be the next political secretary of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Sasi, known to be a close confidant of Pinarayi Vijayan, will act as the link between the party and the chief minister for a second stint. He will replace Puthalath Dinesen, who was appointed the editor of party daily Deshabhimani.

Sasi had previously served as the political secretary of former Chief Minister EK Nayanar from 1996 to 2001. During this time, his own party leaders had criticised him for allegedly shielding Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader PK Kunhalikutty in the ice-cream parlour case.

During his term as Kannur district secretary in 2010, he was accused of sexually abusing a party leader. The DYFI leader had alleged that Sasi had sexually abused her. Based on her complaint, the party had demoted him from district secretary to a branch committee. Later, the then Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan had also expelled Sasi from the party in 2011.

Despite all the allegations, he had maintained a good rapport with the party leadership, and seven years later, he returned to the CPIM after a court dismissed the charges against him.

Years later, the DYFI leader, who had accused Sasi, was sidelined and was made to quit the party.

CPIM, Congress criticise P Sasi’s appointment

Meanwhile, some leaders within the party have criticised the appointment of Sasi as political secretary to Pinarayi Vijayan. The CPIM leaders have said that the decision was taken without any consultation. Senior party leader P Jayarajan has warned against the appointment of P Sasi, saying that the party should not make the same mistake they had committed in the past.

State Mahila Congress president Bindu Krishna slammed CPI(M) over its “highly deplorable” decision to appoint the veteran leader as the CM’s political secretary.

“Sasi faced complaints related to sexual misconduct from within the party. His appointment shows how the CPIM is empowering women and upholding Renaissance values,” the Congress leader alleged.
