Sadanand Dhume: Typical brown sepoy ‘liberal’ who peddles nonsense unfettered by reality hitting him in the face

One of the many privileges of being an ‘intellectual’ is being wrong about practically everything under the Sun and yet be regarded as a voice of reason on contentious matters. People who have been virtually wrong on every issue of critical importance and have failed to make accurate assessment every time they have stuck their neck out are still called ‘intellectuals’ and relied upon for their valuable opinions. This is what we would call ‘liberal privilege’. In the liberal clown world, competence is not a concern, allegiance to the dogma is. And one person who has benefited greatly from it is Sadanand Dhume.

On all controversial issues, he has been horribly wrong. And yet, he is treated as a ‘voice of reason’ only because he pays obeisance to the liberal dogma. His failure to perceive things as they are instead of seeing them as he wishes them to be is regularly demonstrated through the tweets he makes and the articles he writes. And yet, due to his ‘liberal privilege’, he still gets to pontificate to the rest of us.

On the 2nd of October, 2010, a couple of days after the Allahabad High Court delivered its verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, Dhume wrote in the Wall Street Journal, speaking of the fact that the Hindu Nationalists for the first time found themselves on the same side of the law, “For this transformation to take hold, the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party must seize the opportunity to bury temple politics once and for all and begin evolving into a mainstream conservative party.”

One wonders what Dhume meant by ‘evolving into the mainstream conservative party’ since the BJP even at the time was the primary opposition party. Under Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani, the party had even formed its own government and ruled for five years. At no point did they abandon their agenda. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah were already ruling Gujarat for years. In various states, the party was in power. Therefore, Dhume believed that it wasn’t already a ‘mainstream conservative party’ only shows his own lack of understanding about Indian cultural conditions.

With great authority, Dhume asserted, “If the temple issue is settled, the party can focus instead on less divisive (and more pressing) issues such as support for private business, a strong national defence and a foreign policy driven by clear-eyed self-interest. This must be its objective regardless of what the Supreme Court rules.”

The duo of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah politely said “okay” to all such advice and then went about doing what they always planned to do. Dhume believed it was of monumental importance for the BJP to abandon Temples for it to become a ‘mainstream conservative party’. It might disappoint him but the fact is that the BJP secured a simple majority in the Parliament in two consecutive Lok Sabha elections without abandoning its heritage. It did become a ‘mainstream conservative party’ but for that, it didn’t have to fundamentally alter its identity.

Dhume stated further, “Unlike virtually every other major democracy, India has no responsible right-of-centre party to speak of.” The fact of the matter is, India, as a country, relates to the concept of ‘right’ and ‘left’ differently due to cultural reasons. And as per its own understanding, the BJP has always been a ‘right-of-centre’ party. Unfortunately for Dhume and those who think like him, the Center is much farther to the right in India due to historical reasons than they assumed it to be.

Nine years later, when Dhume was forced to realize that the BJP had become a ‘mainstream conservative party’, he abhorred it. In April, he wrote an article for the Wall Street Journal titled: India’s Government Considers a ‘Muslim Ban’. The ‘Muslim ban’ he is referring to is the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill that seeks to provide citizenship to persecuted non-Muslims from neighbouring countries.

Dhume wrote, “This foolish idea may win the BJP votes in the current election but at the cost of undermining interfaith harmony, seeding long-term domestic instability, and tarnishing India’s reputation for tolerance.” Needless to say, the CAB does no such thing. It only seeks to right a historical wrong and takes into account the origins of the Indian state while considering citizenship rights.

Liberals like Dhume are essentially ‘blank-slatist’ when it comes to the origins of India. They believe India began from a blank state on the 15th of August, 1947 and whatever the country’s past may have been, going forward, India shall subscribe to the western values of secularism, liberalism and all else. But that’s not how most Indians look at the Indian state.

Liberals believe the ghosts of the partition should be exorcised from the memories of Indian Constitution, however, they forget that the people this country belongs to do not want that. The CAB merely takes into account the fact that India was partitioned on a religious basis and therefore, persecuted non-Muslims from neighbouring countries should have the right to Indian citizenship.

Indian Citizenship is a privilege and Muslims from neighbouring countries do not deserve it because they are already citizens of Islamic states that they wanted. This is perfectly natural and anyone with any common sense should be able to comprehend it. However, liberals whose ideology is based on a resolute denial of reality won’t.

As for India’s ‘reputation’, the world will have to adjust to new realities. And the world will if India manages to consolidate its strength and emerge as a strong player in international politics. For instance, the world still does business with China despite its ‘reeducation camps’ and the ongoing persecution of Uyghur Muslims. China is literally forcing Uyghur women to sleep with regime officials after locking up their husbands in these ‘reeducation camps’ and yet, liberals are more troubled by Donald Trump’s trade war against the Chinese regime than the plight of Uyghur Muslims.

It’s how things work in international politics. A strong country does not have to care about its ‘reputation’. If it is powerful enough, everyone else will fall in line. As I had said a while earlier, it was extremely unlikely that China will ever have to regret its treatment of Uyghur Muslims. It’s entirely a different matter of debate whether India has been or will ever be successful in reaching that position. Consider this, the USA destabilized the entire Middle-East, killed a million Muslims, paved the way for slavery to return to Libya, funded Islamic terrorists all across the globe and yet, people like Dhume still consider the USA a very respectable country.

Dhume concluded the said article saying, “India continues to tilt dangerously away from its pluralistic ethos toward Hindu chauvinism. On Wednesday the BJP nominated a militant female ascetic on trial for bomb blasts targeting Muslims to run for Parliament. A smart country would pick Vivekananda’s expansive vision over Mr. Shah’s cramped one. The alternative: eroding the secular compact that holds 1.3 billion people together.”

It is classical Dhume. In 2010, Dhume argued that BJP should abandon Temples to become a ‘mainstream conservative party’. Nine years later, when Narendra Modi government was on the verge of securing a reelection, Dhume issued sermons that India is swaying towards ‘Hindu chauvinism’. Why? Because the BJP managed to disrupt the establishment without compromising on its principles.

When people like Dhume say a ‘mainstream Conservative party’, they mean a party that does not differ from liberals in any manner whatsoever apart from economics and the mildest cultural issues. The problem is Dhume’s definition of what constitutes ‘mainstream’ is extremely narrow and when any political party deviates from it, it is labeled ‘chauvinism’.

There’s a reason for this. The massive popularity of the ideas such as political entities espouse is a testament to the failure of the mainstream establishment to convince the ordinary citizen of the superiority of their own ideas. This is precisely why the establishment hates Donald Trump so much. It’s the same reason why establishment Democrats hate Bernie Sanders with such intensity. Because of the massive popularity among the electorate they enjoy is evidence of the fact that their ideas have been rejected by the citizens of their country.

Unfettered by all of this, Dhume continues to pontificate on social media without an ounce of self-realization. For instance, after the Ayodhya verdict was delivered in favour of Ram Lalla, he said on Twitter, “Question worth asking: where does this project of civilizational redress end? Is Ayodhya sufficient, or are Kashi and Mathura also essential? Exceptions notwithstanding, moderation is not a virtue that ought to be associated with revivalists of any faith.”

Read: Here is how these 7 opinion pieces in 4 days reveal newspaper The Hindu’s legendary level of meltdown and arrogance

At the end of the day, a political party ought to accurately capture and represent the will of the people. That is how a Democracy is supposed to function. Therefore, as to the query whether Kashi and Mathura are also essential, the average Hindu would assert that Kashi and Mathura are very important.  As for how all of this ends, nobody knows but considering the trajectory of our country, one would assume it doesn’t end where Dhume would want it to. It’s a Democracy after all, questions of such monumental significance will be settled with the will of the people. And considering the fact that liberals are a micro-minority of the Indian population, it’s unlikely that they will agree with the will of the people.

In the most hilarious of fashion, Dhume announced that South Asian countries are not very good at protecting minority rights. “India’s record has been better than most,” he says, “but it’s rapidly backsliding.” Furthermore, he declares that Pakistan under Imran Khan is making the right noises on the issue.

This is precisely why liberalism has lost in the marketplace of ideas. The people who advocate them are not merely out of touch with reality, they are in denial of it. For those unaware, the countries which make up South Asia are Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Bhutan, and the Maldives.

Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are the undoubtedly the worst. And there’s no need to elaborate why and how. Bhutan is not as diverse country a country in India and has done well in this regard. Nepal, during its time as a Hindu country, performed exceptionally well in this regard and under the secular regime, they have shown inclinations to persecute the faith of the majority community. Sri Lanka suffered from ethnic problems for a long long time and the ghosts of the past have not yet been buried.

That leaves us with the Maldives, which is again, an Islamic country where people of other faiths do not have equal rights on a variety of issues. Its Constitution makes it mandatory that all citizens are Sunni Muslims. Compared to all these countries, how do you think India has fared?

Comparing India with countries other than those in South Asia, it still comes out looking very good for us, especially given our turbulent past. The USA is not doing very well on racial issues, has never done well on racial issues. Now in addition to racism against Blacks, we have the added component of anti-White racism that’s extremely mainstream in liberal America. It is well known how China and Russia fare in this aspect. Israel constitutionally mandates that its ethnic identity be preserved. It’s true, however, that Israel treats its minority citizen as well as India does, probably not as good. Japan earnestly works towards maintaining their ethnic identity.

The European countries, on the other hand, are committing civilizational suicide in their bid to prove that they treat their minorities well. Some argue that Europe is already dead. Canada treats its minority population extremely well but then again, it is harbouring Khalistani terrorists in their midst. New Zealand and Australia, perhaps, are the only countries that come to mind that do not, as per my knowledge as of this moment, which are not facing any minority issues as of now.

The point is, it will be extremely hard to argue that given India’s turbulent past and the history of its origins, minorities from any other country have fared better. Liberals may not agree to it but they are in denial of reality. In the 20th century, Europeans were busy committing genocides across the globe. ‘Minority Rights’ started gaining prominence only in the second half of the 20th century and since then, western countries have either enacted policies that have led or will lead to a civilizational suicide or those that have left their countries more divided than ever before.

Considering all circumstances, India has scored better than almost every other country around the world, if not every single country. It might be hard for liberals like Sadanand Dhume to digest but its the truth. We have had issues and continue to have them, which we will resolve as a country in due course of time, but considering the size of our country, there’s no need for us to be overly critical of it. And it is a fact that the only section of the population that the Constitution of India has discriminated against as a matter of policy is the Hindu community. Perhaps this skewed perspective is exactly why Subramanian Swamy had in 2017 fondly ‘christened’ Dhume as Gadhananad Ghume.

Twitter erupts with memes as Shiv Sena breaks alliance with BJP to possibly form government in alliance with NCP-Congress

As the Maharashtra government deadlock enters the third week, Shiv Sena has broken its alliance with the NDA and has given signs that it may stake claim to form government in Maharashtra with support of NCP and Congress. While many Maharashtra voters felt cheated that they had to vote for a Shiv Sena candidate because of its pre-poll alliance with BJP and will now have the party they voted for sit in opposition, netizens took to Twitter to make hilarious memes.

Twitter user improvised this ‘angry woman, clueless cat’ meme and added the plight of those who had voted for NOTA (None of the above) during Madhya Pradesh elections last year and are now in a Congress-ruled state.

Memes made by modifying popular film scenes were also a rage.

Digs on Aditya Thackeray, first from the Thackeray family to join mainstream politics, were also made.

And the jokes of the future prospects of Shiv Sena as it joins Congress alliance.

And the mother of all jokes.

The majority mark in Maharashtra’s assmebly in 145. The BJP currently holds 105 MLAs. Shiv Sena has 56, NCP has 54 and the Congress has 44. BVA has 3 MLAs and AIMIM, PJP, SP have 2 each. There are 13 independent MLAs.

Maharashtra governor has given time till 7:30 PM tonight to Shiv Sena to stake claim to form the government. If Shiv Sena plans to stake a claim, it will need the support of both NCP and Congress. With the Sena’s insistence on CM post, it is remaining to be seen whether an alliance, if Congress and NCP both agree, holds on to power or goes down the Karnataka way sooner than expected.

Uttarakhand: Security increased after man threatens to blow up Har Ki Pauri Ghat in Haridwar, one arrested

Uttarakhand Police on Monday arrested a man who had threatened to ‘blow up’ Har Ki Pauri’ Ghat in Haridwar. The accused was arrested from the same place he had threatened to blow up. The Uttarakhand Police has said that further investigation is underway.

On November 9, at around 3:30 PM, just hours after the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict was pronounced by the Supreme Court, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat received an anonymous call on his mobile phone threatening the blow up the Har Ki Pauri Ghat. The call was received by CM’s protocol officer, Anand Singh Rawat. Following the threatening call, the security around the area was increased.

The security around the bus stops and railway stations has also been increased.

Ayodhya Verdict: 77 people under arrest by UP Police for sharing objectionable content on social media

In the aftermath of the historic judgment of the Ram Janmabhoomi title suit, the Uttar Pradesh police have made 77 arrests for sharing objectionable content over various social media websites. So far, the police have registered 34 cases against the offenders for uploading inflammatory posts and actions have been taken against 8275 social media posts.

According to the statement released by the Uttar Pradesh Police, 22 cases and 40 people were arrested on Sunday for trying to vitiate the communal harmony of the country through their provocative posts.

Several social media users were asked to remove the inflammatory content and those who did not comply with the police directive, their accounts were suspended. Majority of the objectionable posts were reported on Twitter with 2869 followed by Facebook with 1355 posts. Along with this, 98 videos uploaded on the streaming platform YouTube were also reported.

The UP Police is making repeated appeals to the social media users, asking them to refrain themselves from sharing any controversial posts on the matter. Fearing communal disruption,  the DGP of Uttar Pradesh, OP Singh, had earlier declared that those found posting offensive content on social media platforms will be dealt strictly and that National Security Act (NSA) could also be applied on them.

Prior to the judgment, the UP Police had issued advisory asking people to behave responsibly on social media and desist from sharing rumours, communally sensitive and hateful content on the websites. The police had then warned that necessary action will be initiated against those who are found to flout their directives.

On Saturday, the Supreme Court passed a verdict in the long-drawn-out Ayodhya dispute, handing over the disputed land to the central government and directing them to form a trust to start the construction of the Ram Temple over it. The apex court also asked the centre to allocate a 5-acres land to the Muslim side on which they can build a mosque.

The large-scale police deployment, vigil over social media and alertness of the UP Police has achieved remarkable results as no untoward incidents were reported from anywhere in the state despite the deep-rooted communal and political nature of the case.

Feminist journalist mocks man for proposing his bride at KFC, dozens of companies and individuals organise a grand wedding for them on Twitter

Proving the power of Twitter, supports poured all over from corporates and individuals for a couple after journalist mocked a man for proposing a woman at a KFC restaurant. Now a grand wedding for the couple is being planned, with all expenses and arrangement taken care of by big and small corporates, and generous individuals.

On 7th November, KFC South Africa posted a video on microblogging site Twitter with a video showing that a man was proposing to a woman at one of its restaurants. The official Twitter handle asked Mzansi (South Africans) to help locate the couple, saying they want to bless the couple, adding that there might be a surprise for the person providing the information too. They used the hashtag #KFCProposal in the tweet.

A Twitter user named Anele, whose bio identifies her as a journalist and feminist, didn’t like the idea of proposing in an ‘unromantic’ place like a KFC. She quote tweeted the KFC SA tweet saying “SA men are so broke they even propose at KFC. They have absolutely no class, I mean who proposed at KFC.”

kfcproposal

Little did she know that her mocking the man will turn out to be a big blessing for the couple, as soon people started criticising her for tweet, with the #KFCProposal hashtag. Soon big brands decided to use the opportunity of a trending hashtag, and they came up with gifts for the couple.

Just a day later, after the KFC tweet was retweeted thousands of times including South Africa Cricket, the couple was located. On November 8, KFC SA tweeted that they have located the couple, and the company is organising a Stree Wise Wedding for Bhut Hector and his lovely bride Nonhlanhla.

After this, a person tweeted that he has spoken to the man, and informed that he wants a small event to celebrate his wife but his budget is tight. He said that they need a venue, dress, suit, cake, and food.

Soon after this, offers of gifts started pouring for the wedding on Twitter. Items like clothing, jewellery, footwear and other accessories, gift vouchers, honeymoon packages, food and beverages, expensive liquor, TVs, Mobile phones and other electronic items, phone and TV services, wedding dresses and suits, various services for the wedding, cash donations, everything are being sponsored by various companies.

The owner of a jewellery company named Billdore Jewellers offered to gift two rings worth R45000 (around ₹2.15 lakhs) for the bride and the groom. He is offering rose gold rings with diamonds.

Finance company Capfin offered R50,000 for the couple’s wedding.

Coca Cola, a rival of KFC’s former owner Pepsi, sponsored the soft drinks for the wedding. Even KFC’s rivals also chipped in with contributions.

The most expensive gift so far has come from Standard Bank, with promise to clear a personal loan upto Rand 300,000 (around ₹14.35 lakhs) for the couple.

Nedbank, another bank, offered to waive the start-up costs when the couple buy a house, they also promised home loan at a preferential rate and R20,000 extra.

Capital Hotels offered to host the wedding at one of its hotels.

De Pecan Valley, a wedding venue, also offered to host the wedding, if no one has offered the same yet.

It is not that companies are just gifting for the wedding and honeymoon, a diaper company went ahead and promised to take care of honeymoon results.

Some more notable gifts are given below.

Some Twitter users are meticulously recording the gifts pledged by companies and individuals, one such list can be seen in the tweet attached below.

As for the couple, they are actually already married, and they were planning a second marriage. They had an informal wedding in 2012, and has been staying together. But there were pressures from the church to have a formal wedding, but they could not organise for lack of budget, and Hector was unable to afford a satisfactory ring for his bride. Finally, he bought a ring and proposed his wife at the KFC with the help of staff of the restaurant.

The video of the proposal was captured by a passer-by Kateka Malobola, and shared it on WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. From there the video had reached KFC South Africa. Apart from winning a voucher from KFC, he was also given gifts by various companies for shooting the video.

The couple thanked the people of Sought Africa for the overwhelming support they have received. “Thank you South Africa. Your kindness has truly warmed us. We would have never imagined that our love story would have touched so many of you. While we appreciate the support, we ask that you please give us a moment to take it all in. We will definitely let you know about our plans around the wedding,” they said in a Facebook post.

And for the person who started it all by mocking the couple, Anele has protected her Twitter account.

JNU students asked to pay for electricity, hostel cleaning, etc. leftist groups attack police during protests

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union today organised protests outside the University over a slew of issues including fee hike even as the University’s convocation ceremony continues inside the campus with Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu as the chief guest.

Clashes erupted between the police and JNUSU students protesting over the varsity administration’s “anti-student” policies. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union has declared a strike against the Draft Hostel Manual which was approved by the Inter-Hall administration. The Draft Hostel Manual has provisions for fees hike, curfew timings and dress restrictions on the students. The Union has asserted that it will not take back its call for a strike until the Hostel Manual is withdrawn.

The University has introduced fees for utility services like water and electricity on an actual basis, and a fixed charge of ₹1700 per month for services like sanitation, maintenance, cook etc. The room rent also has been increased from ₹20 to ₹600 for single-seater and from ₹10 to ₹300 for double seater. One time security which is refundable also has gone up from ₹5,500 to ₹12,000.

The Union had on Sunday gave a clarion call to all the students to gather and disclosed their plan to organise a march on Monday to the AICTE auditorium where the convocation is currently underway. Hundreds of students participated in the protests opposing the hostel manual implemented by the JNU administration.

It has been two weeks since the JNU Student’s Union (JNUSU) has been conducting protests over the hostel manual. The JNUSU Vice-Chancellor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar had on November 8 alleged that Associate Dean Dr Vandana Mishra was kept in illegal captivity by some students as a part of their protest.

Nobody needs to ‘plant evidence’ to prove that the Gyanvapi Mosque was built over a Temple: Caravan should stop fear mongering

On 9th November 2019, the Supreme Court of India passed a historic judgement in the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The apex court handed over the entire 67 acres of Ram Janmabhoomi to Hindus and ordered for the government to give the Muslims 5 acres of alternate land to build their mosque. This decision will perhaps go down in history as the first case where a Historical-Civilisational issue was resolved by a judicial process. Post the verdict, the usual elements have started their fear-mongering. The Caravan has released a baseless video that claims that the Modi government is paving the way for another “Babri incident” to take place where the Kashi-Vishwanath corridor is taking shape and the Gyanvapi mosque stands.

The Caravan video essentially claims that the Kashi Vishwanath Temple corridor, spread over an area of 39,000 square metres with an investment of Rs 700 crore, linking the ancient shrine and one of the 12 Jyotirlinga Temples to the famous ghats in Varanasi, is an attempt to make it easier to conduct a Babri like demolition of the Gyanpati Mosque. The video also claims that attempts were made to bury a statue of Nandi near the Mosque.

These claims are not new. In fact, the article that this Caravan video is based on was first published in April by Caravan. In the article headlined “How Modi’s Kashi Vishwanath corridor is laying the ground for another Babri incident”, the article says – “The residents were attempting to bury a small statue of Nandi—a bull-form that ancient Hindu scripture proclaims guards the entry to the Hindu deity Shiva’s abode—near the north wall of the Gyanvapi mosque, a centuries-old structure that shares a boundary wall with the famed Kashi Vishwanath temple”. Further, the article says, “The burying of the Nandi idol is the latest in a long history of attempts to indicate Hindu historicity to the site at which the Gyanvapi mosque stands—and only one of the many disturbing resemblances to the events that preceded the demolition of Babri Masjid”.

What is interesting in the entire incident and its narration is the fact that the ‘Liberal’ coterie actually and truly believes that Hindus need to ‘plant evidence’ to claim that the Gyanvapi Mosque was built on a Hindu temple.

Gyanvapi Mosque was built by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb after destroying the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The remnants of the ancient Hindu temple can be seen on the walls of the Gyanvapi mosque now. The temple was an earlier restoration of the original Kashi Vishwanath temple, which was destroyed and rebuilt several times in history. The current Kashi Vishwanath was built on a site adjacent to the Mosque in 1780.

The Gyanvapi Mosque – Erstwhile temple of Kashi Vishwanath. It was destroyed by Aurangzeb to build the mosque

One look at the Gyanvapi Mosque and it would be quite evident that the Mosque was built over the remnants of a Temple even to people who might not be familiar with the tyrannical history of Aurangzeb, an Islamist bigot, who incidentally, the Left loves to glorify. It is thus pertinent to ask why Hindus would need to plant any evidence of the existence of the Temple when even visually, the proof is there for all to see.

In fact, when the Ayodhya movement was gaining steam and even in the later years, it was speculation that proving how Islamic invasions destroyed temples to build mosques would be far easier if the Gyanvapi Mosque’s cause had been taken considering the evidence of the existence of the Hindu temple was far more evident there than Ayodhya. The case itself would have been easy to prove in the court of law.

The most insidious statement in the article itself, however, is “The burying of the Nandi idol is the latest in a long history of attempts to indicate Hindu historicity to the site at which the Gyanvapi mosque stands”.

The historicity of the holy city has never been in dispute, to begin with. Perhaps for the Left, the history of India started with Islamic rule, however, the truth is far from it.

With the Kashi Vishwanath Temple corridor, the city of Varanasi is undergoing the first major transformation since 1780 AD. However, it is not the first-ever. Earlier the Maratha Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore had gentrified the temple and the surrounding areas and this is recorded history. The ‘Hindu historicity’ of Varanasi was never a question, to begin with.

Interestingly, what the video does not mention, while questioning the Hindu historicity of Varanasi is that as the process to build the corridor is set in motion, huge swathes of buildings flanking the narrow lanes leading to ghats and temples have been demolished. The clearing process has resulted in a discovery of 40 temples in the area, which was until now obscured by the buildings and structures in the region. PM Modi has said that these temples will be preserved for public darshan.

Further, in May 2019 itself, the Muslims of the area had expressed “fears” about the Gyanvapi Mosque. They had said that earlier, the Mosque was surrounded by building but now, it stands “exposed”.

Media had narrated an incident where a chhabootra was being demolished by authorities in October last year. The demolition prompted a mob to gather in the area which ultimately had to be stopped. Later, it was reconstructed. It has raised concerns among the Muslim community over the safety of the Mosque.

S.M. Yaseen, joint secretary of Anjuman Intezamiya Masajid (AIM), Varanasi, an administrative body of the Mosque, had said, “Gyanvapi Mosque could meet the same fate as Babri,” TOI reported. “I remember the chant ‘Ayodhya toh ek jhaaki hai, Kashi, Mathura abhi baaki hai (Ayodhya is merely a glimpse, Kashi, Mathura now remain)’ which became popular among kar sewaks after Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished in 1992.”

Yaseen was quoted further as saying, “Until now, the shops and houses in narrow lanes shielded the mosque. Now it stands exposed, surrounded by Temples.” He adds, “Between 1991 and 1992, the area surrounding the mosque was cleared by the then BJP government led by Kalyan Singh for ‘beautification’ of Ayodhya.”

In the statements by these elements, nothing really points towards any tension in tangible terms, but only in terms of personal fears that are unfounded. No proof of any kind of Babri like attempts has been given either by Caravan or by the Muslim residents.

To further this narrative after the Ayodhya verdict points towards a sinister agenda not just of the Caravan but several other Left portals as well.

Following are some of the headlines that have been published by the Left media.

The truth of the matter is that Islamic invaders did destroy temples and build Mosques on top of the ruins and the Ayodhya victory, as a title suit, has cast a spotlight on the atrocities heaped by Islamic invaders. What it has also done is vindicated the claims of the so-called “right-wing” which can no longer be dismissed as “bigotry” by the Left.

After the Babri demolition, the Hindus of India were vilified to the hilt. With the Ram Janmabhoomi issue solved and Hindus gaining possession of the entire 67-acre land, the fear-mongering regarding Gyanvapi Mosque seems to be only one of the latest narratives by the Left to demonise Hindus.

Maharashtra conundrum: Sanjay Raut desperate to form government, Sanjay Nirupam apprehensive over alliance with Sena

The Maharashtra political circus is far from over after BJP declared to withdraw from the government formation race. The Shiv Sena, whose insistence on the CM post caused the BJP-Sena pre-poll alliance to stumble and break has been reportedly approaching the Congress and NCP to bury differences and come together to form government in Maharashtra.

Some media reports have started claiming that the Sena might propose Uddhav and not Aditya Thackeray for the CM post for an alliance with Congress and NCP.

As per the latest reports, while Congress’ Milind Deora and Prithviraj Chavan are in favour of an alliance with Sena, but the Congress central leadership is undecided. As per reports, Congress leaders and key members of the CWC, including Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and Ahmed Patel are meeting party president Sonia Gandhi at her residence.

Sharad Pawar has stated to media that no decision has been taken on whether to partner with the Sena or not.

NCP senior leaders Praful Patel, Supriya Sule and Ajit Pawar are currently meeting with party chief Sharad Pawar to discuss issues.

Earlier today, Shiv Sena’s lone minister in the central government, Aravind Sawant had resigned from his post. Sena, being the second-largest party in the elections, was asked by Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari to stake a claim by today evening.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has also reached at the Thackeray residence ‘Matoshree’ to meet party chief Uddhav Thackeray. Last night, Raut had insisted that even if Sena forms an alliance with Congress and NCP, they will only have Chief Minister from the Sena ‘at any cost’.

In the meanwhile, Congress’ Maharashtra leader Sanjay Nirupam seems to be apprehensive over an alliance with the Shiv Sena. Nirupam has asked that can the Congress consider contesting future elections with Sena as an ally?

The majority mark in Maharashtra’s assmebly in 145. The BJP currently holds 105 MLAs. Shiv Sena has 56, NCP has 54 and the Congress has 44. BVA has 3 MLAs and AIMIM, PJP, SP have 2 each. There are 13 independent MLAs.

If Shiv Sena plans to stake a claim, it will need the support of both NCP and Congress. With the Sena’s insistence on CM post, it is remaining to be seen whether an alliance, if Congress and NCP both agree, holds on to power or goes down the Karnataka way sooner than expected.

As RJD drags caste is Ayodhya, they forget that Hanuman Mandir in Patna has a Dalit priest

Many people on Sunday tried to trend ‘राममंदिरकापुजारीकौन'(who will be the priest in Ram Mandir), thereby hinting that Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is a ‘Brahminical project’.

ThePrint journalist who bullied Twitter into giving him a blue tick after accusing the social media platform of being casteist, also joined in.

Converting anything about Hindus into something about ‘caste’ is what the Left excels in. The Left likes to increase the caste divide by camouflaging its Hinduphobia under the cloak of ‘fight against Brahminical forces’.

Prominent people from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) like Sanjay Yadav, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and Political Advisor to RJD MLA Tejashwi Yadav, also joined in. Yadav tweeted that everyone in India is curious to know who would be the pujari (priest) at the temple once it is constructed at the Ram Janmabhoomi.

Yadav wondered if in the new, inclusive India, especially the one headed by PM Modi who has called for ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, will there be a non-Brahmin priest in the Ram Mandir.

However, in his mad rush to show solidarity with an imaginary cause, RJD conveniently forgot that in Bihar, right in the capital city of Patna nearly a dozen temples have had a Dalit priest decades now. 300-year old Mahavir Mandir has a Dalit priest, Suryavanshi Falahari Das, who assumed his role as early as 1993. In fact, none of these moves had any kind of protest from any part of the society.

Moreover, there is further linkage of this Hanuman temple in Patna to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. In fact, not only did ex-IPS officer Kishore Kunal played an important role in bringing about this social change, but he was also instrumental in drawing up the Ram Mandir map which Rajeev Dhavan, the lawyer for Muslim parties, had torn up in the Supreme Court during the day-to-day hearing. The Mahavir Trust in Patna headed by him has decided to give Rs 10 crore to Ram temple. The trust has also announced free food langar that will be run by Hanuman Mandir all through the year.

Kishore Kunal was appointed as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in 1990 by the Home Ministry under VP Singh government for handling Ayodhya issue. He was entrusted with the responsibility of mediating between Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Babri Masjid Action Committee in the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. The Bihar Mahavir Mandir Trust (BMMT) under his leadership is also building a Virat Ramayan Temple which will be the biggest in the world. He has said that the proposed temple in East Champaran district in Bihar would be bigger than the 12th century Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia.

NDTV’s Nidhi Razdan attends UK ‘Kashmir’ event, gets endorsed by JKLF

Ever since the Indian government took the decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and to bifurcate the former state into two Union Territories, the Pakistani establishment has been on a propaganda overdrive. Incapable of ever winning a direct conflict, the terrorist nation has been putting all its resources behind creating an anti-India atmosphere through lies, propaganda and their sponsored agents inside India and abroad.

NDTV, the self-proclaimed news channel has been used by Pakistan multiple times so far to propagate their vile, anti-India ideas. NDTV’s reports and shows have already been quoted and mentioned by Pakistan to further their lies. Now, it seems, Pakistan has found useful work for NDTV’s employees too.

In a shocking revelation, NDTV seems to have undermined the interests of India yet again. Defence analyst Iyer Mitra revealed telling information regarding an event called ‘The Cost to Britain of the Kashmir Crisis: Is There a Solution?’ at the Chatham House, London on November 7.

The event was organised by Abdurrehman Chinoy, a British Pakistani businessman who is also the chairman of the Queen Mary Pakistan Society. Speaking to Pakistan’s Geo TV, Chinoy had stated earlier that the conference, held on November 7, would look at the “possible role Britain can play to diffuse tension between the two nuclear-powered nations leading towards resolution of Kashmir”.

In other words, Chinoy had mirrored what Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party had said about Kashmir, stressing at direct interference in India’s internal matters.

Other participants in the event were former Pakistani envoy to the UN Maleeha Lodhi and Lyall Grant, UK’s former National Security Advisor, who stated in the event that “Modi’s actions in occupied Kashmir are radicalising Kashmiris and that has a direct impact on UK’s national security where more than 1 million Kashmiris live. Asserting that the “Kashmir” issue needs Britain’s involvement, Grant stated at the event that “The issue of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) poses security risks to the United Kingdom.”

As if the real intentions behind the event were not clear so far, terrorist organisation JKLF too endorsed it, calling it an event that managed to ‘bring Kashmiri voices’, referring to Nidhi. JKLF also thanked the organisers profusely. It is needless to remind here that ironically, JKLF has been one of the chief initiators of radicalisation and terrorism in the Kashmir valley. Its chief Yaseen Malick is currently facing charges for killing Indian Air Force personnel in cold blood.

JKLF is banned in India under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. JKLF is also one of the principal forces behind organising and mobilising the violent protests by Pakistani goons that had attacked the Indian consulate in London multiple times so far.

NDTV’s Nidhi Razdhan attended the show and mirrored the lines what were being peddled by Pakistan to paint India as evil and Pakistan as a victim of terrorism. Speaking at the event, Nidhi lamented over the communication curbs imposed in Jammu and Kashmir and claimed that while India ‘claims’ that the end of special status to Jammu and Kashmir is for the benefit of its people, India has not consulted the people of the region at all. To the delights of the Pakistani establishment, she also added that India’s credentials at the world’s largest democracy have been shadowed by the events in Kashmir.

Another speaker at the event, Jack Straw, a former UK foreign secretary, stated that PM Modi’s decision on Article 370 abrogation was “outrageous, preposterous and seems not to have a strategy.”

Recently, Pakistan had shared an NDTV video to further their anti-India agenda.

NDTV finding support in Pakistan is nothing new. Earlier in March, NDTV’s star anchor Raveesh Kumar had urged media that they should not report the post-Pulwama India-Pakistan conflict, because it will ‘help BJP in the elections’. Raveesh’ statements were soon used by Pakistani media to further their anti-India narrative.

Recently, radical Islamist Zaid Hamid had used ex-NDTV anchor Barkha Dutt’s tweets to spew venom against India.

NDTV seems to fan its ‘Kashmir is in fear’ narrative so much that they are now bordering on an open call for violence. The clip by NDTV reporter that claimed an old Kashmiri man allegedly challenged India to ‘lift the curfew’ to see the real sentiment of Kashmiri people is nothing but another attempt to further their baseless fearmongering. The way NDTV, and for that matter, many media portals are going on about the issue, it seems as if they are just waiting, rather hoping for a riot to happen and people to die, just so they can claim that the central government has failed and thus help Pakistan further its narrative.

Update: Nidhi has responded to the allegations that have been made against her. She claims that she vociferously countered Pakistani propaganda.

Nidhi has, however, not contested statements like “India’s credentials at the world’s largest democracy have been shadowed by the events in Kashmir” that were made by her.

It is also being said that the organiser who was thanked was indeed Shoaib K Bajwa and not the Pakistan Army Chief as claimed by Defense Analyst Abhijit Iyer Mitra. This article has been updated with relevant information.
