Reprimanding the Bengaluru police for violation of Fundamental Rights, the Karnataka High Court quashed an FIR registered against one S Jaikanth, the admin of a Facebook page ‘Troll Maga’. Jaikanth was arrested earlier for posting against JD(S) party chief HD Deve Gowda, the then Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Reportedly, the Karnataka HC has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh that would be recovered from the police officers responsible for the arrest of the admin of the FB page. The Director-General of Police and Inspector General of Karnataka Police has been directed by the Karanataka HC to conduct an inquiry against the police officers responsible for the arrest of Jaikanth, the admin of the Facebook page.
The High court also ordered departmental action against the Magistrate who remanded the accused in violation of SC guidelines. Jaikanth was remanded despite being granted anticipatory bail by a lower court. The court also directed that the compensation should be provided to petitioner S Jaikanth within a month.
“The police action against the petitioner was illegal. Liberty of a citizen in a civilized society is sacrosanct,” said Justice P S Dinesh Kumar in his order pronounced on Friday.
A complaint was filed by a JDS party worker against S Jaikanth, the administrator of the Facebook page, ‘Troll Maga’ for allegedly posting abusive and insulting posts against former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda, the then Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and his son and leader from the party, Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
Soon, Jaikanth had obtained anticipatory bail from a lower court and had gone to Srirampuram police station to submit the bail. However, the Karnataka police had arrested Jaikanth, an engineer by profession, in the second complaint on the same set of facts as mentioned in the first complaint in May.
However, on June 28, 2019, the Karnataka High Court had directed immediate release of the administrator of the Facebook page ‘Troll Maga’ and has stayed the criminal proceeding against the admin till July 11. The HC had then termed the police act as ‘police-raj’ and stayed the proceedings.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who has several times in the past exhibited his malevolence against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), once again, reacting to RSS chief Mohan Bhagat’s last week’s comment said Bharat is “not a Hindu Rashtra” and they will also not let it become so.
This comment came after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat last week said the Sangh is firm on its vision that “Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra”.

Addressing an election rally on Monday night in Kalyan town of Maharashtra’s Thane district for party candidate Aiaz Moulavi, Owaisi said a section of society wants to paint the entire country in one colour, but “we see Hindustan in multiple colours, it is the beauty of Hindustan”. “Bharat is not a Hindu Rashtra, and Inshallah, we will not allow it to become so,” he said.
Alleging that the Shiv Sena was against Muslims, he said: “Change your spectacles and you will see the green colour in the national flag also.” He said Bharat is unique because of its secularism and pluralism. There is no other country in the world as Bharat and “we are proud of it”.
“I want to tell those in the RSS that we are not living here on your sympathy. If you want to measure the index of my happiness or sorrow, you and we should see what the Constitution has given to us,” Owaisi said.
Owaisi went on to also say that the AIMIM has established itself in Aurangabad because of its own efforts. “We will spread to other parts of the state also. You cannot stop us,” he said.
“NDA government was patting its own back by banning the practice of triple talaq, but was not aware of the woes of members of the Muslim community, exclaimed the AIMIM chief claiming that centre should provide the members of the minority community with the reservation for their progress and development.
Owaisi animosity for Hindu’s is not new. Not just Hindu Rashtra, Recently, in a public rally in Nanded, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi mocked the Hindu traditional ritual of using lemon and chilli for auspiciousness and warding off bad luck. Owaisi alluded that Hindus waste the lemons by crushing them whereas Muslims utilise them by offering lemon juice to others and using chillies in their meat dishes.
In fact, such deep is the hatred that Owaisi has also claimed that Muslims have been ignored and treated unjustly in the country. He even lamented the death sentence awarded to Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon. He claimed that Muslims were unable to save Yakub Memom from being hanged because they were not in power.
More so, Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother Akbaruddin Owaisi had earlier threatened to kill the Hindus and balance the population ratio if police forces are removed for 15 minutes.
As the battleground heats up in the run-up to the Haryana state assembly elections, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) chief Dushyant Chautala showed his anti-Gujarat bigotry. In a bid to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah, both Gujaratis, Chautala taunted the entire community by questioning the number of Gujaratis in the Indian Army.

Chautala said that amongst those who have sacrificed their lives for India, maximum of those are from Haryana. “Number of people from Haryana who have been martyred at the border is higher than total number of Gujaratis in the Indian Army,” said Chautala. During the run-up to 2019 general elections, Dushyant Chautala’s JJP had extended support and forged an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the hate opposition leaders have for PM Modi which has manifested into an bigotry towards Gujaratis. Chautala’s hate against Gujaratis echoes that of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s hatred for the otherwise peace-loving people from the land of Gandhi.
What is unfortunate here is that such bigotry is not limited only to politicians but even the legends one grew up admiring have fallen from grace ever since Prime Minister Modi won 2014 elections. Earlier this year, lyricist-turned-Internet troll Javed Akhtar displayed his hate for entire Gujarati community by implying that there are hardly any Gujaratis in the defence forces. “We have had so many regiments in the Army like the Sikhs, Marathas, Rajputs. But have we ever had a Gujarat regiment? Since our Prime Minister has great love and pride in the Indian Army of late, I would urge him to raise a Gujarat regiment so the swayamsevaks from the region can join the Army,” Akhtar reportedly said. He had said this way, the people from Ahmedabad and Surat should join such regiment.
It is rather shameful to try and divide the army and their sacrifices including the martyrdom of soldiers on regional lines. But since we are speaking of numbers, as per reports, as of March 31 2017, Gujarat had 26,656 ex-servicemen, of which 6,233 are from Ahmedabad. There are 3,517 widows of servicemen and 39 soldiers have been awarded bravery awards for their service to the nation. A village named Kodiyavada in Sabarkantha has a population of 6,500 people. About 80% of the families in this village has at least one member in the armed forces. And while it may be true that Haryana has more soldiers serving the nation, every Gujarati is grateful for the sacrifices they make.
The irony is that while terrorism and terrorists have no region or religion, politicians want to show that the armed forces do.
Former Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, who has been facing a lot of heat after his alleged business dealings with Dawood Ibrahim’s associate surfaced, has now been accused of having links with HDIL promoters Rakesh and Sarang Wadhawan, who are currently embroiled in the PMC Bank scam.
According to the reports, new documents have surfaced which shows NCP leader and former UPA era minister Praful Patel’s name in numerous passenger manifests of an airline owned by the Wadhawans. The PMC scam accused Wadhawans had owned the private airliner Privilege Airways which was operating charter planes. It is currently attached by the ED for investigation. The Wadhawans are currently in judicial custody for the PMC Bank scam.
Recently, the Mumbai International Airport Limited had issued a notice cautioning potential buyers of Privilege Airways of dues owed by the airline to the airport.

The second document dated 10th March 2012, shows Praful Patel who was the then Civil Aviation Minister as a passenger in the same airline. Another document dated 31st March 2012, shows Praful Patel’s name again in the passenger manifest along with Rakesh Wadhawan among others. Several other documents show that Praful Patel has used the Wadhawans’ private jet a total number of 8 times during the time period of February 2012 to May 2012.

According to the reports, the documents reveal that former UPA minister Praful Patel had used private jets connected to PMC scam accused to travel to various destinations from Mumbai. On some trips, it is seen that Praful Patel has also traveled with the Wadhawans themselves.
It is notable here that Praful Patel is already under investigation for his alleged involvement in the illegal aviation deals case. The allegations had surfaced after the ED had grilled lobbyist Deepak Talwar in the aviation scam case for allegedly bribing politicians and senior officials in the UPA era to tweak the rules to benefit certain foreign aircraft manufacturers and airlines.
The Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank is one of the largest cooperative banks, which was put under scrutiny by the Reserve Bank for fraud and misreporting of bad loans. Later, the bank had admitted that one large account, HDIL was the main reason for the current crisis.
Following this, the Mumbai Police’s EOW had arrested HDIL directors Sarang Wadhawan and Rakesh Kumar Wadhawan in connection with a fraud of over Rs 4,355 crores. According to the reports, PMC Bank officials gave loans to HDIL between the year 2008 and August 2019 despite the Wadhwans defaulting on previous loans. The Wadhawans along with other promoters including Waryam Singh have been sent to judicial custody till October 16.
Former MD of PMC bank, Joy Thomas aka Junaid Khan was also arrested by a special investigation team (SIT) of the EOW of Mumbai Police on the 4th of October. He had been absconding until then. The EOW had filed an FIR on September 30 (Monday) against HDIL and PMC Bank officials in the PMC bank fraud case
Later, it was revealed that Joy Thomas, former MD of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank had converted to Islam, married his assistant at the bank as per Islamic rituals in 2012, changed his name to Junaid Khan and owned 10 properties in Pune with his second wife allegedly as part of the Rs 4,355 crore scam.

Earlier yesterday, we had published a series of documents that had shown Praful Patel’s financial dealings with Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. The new documents accessed by us had revealed signatures of Praful Patel on documents that linked him to Iqbal Memon alias ‘Mirchi’, a key aide of Dawood Ibrahim.
The documents clearly showed the business links between Praful Patel and Asif Iqbal Memon, Hajra Iqbal Memon and Junaid Iqbal Memon, all linked to Iqbal Mirchi, who is a key aide of Dawood Ibrahim.
Reportedly, a 15-story building in Dr Annie Besant Road, Worli, named ‘Ceejay House’ was constructed as a JV between Mirchi and M/S Millenium Developers Pvt Ltd in 2006-07. In 2007, the third and fourth floors of the building were given to Mirchi’s family by Millenium Developers. Former Union Minister Praful Patel and his wife Varsha Patel own a significant number of shares in Millenium Developers Pvt Ltd.
The 12th floor of the same building has been listed as the address of Praful and Varsha Patel. The Patel family owns the Ceejay Group, a tobacco conglomerate.
The Congress party has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its manifesto promise of demanding a Bharat Ratna for Veer Savarkar for his stellar contribution to the Indian freedom movement.
Congress leaders say that they’re “expecting a Bharat Ratna for Godse also” after the manifesto promise was made. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily said, “That is their culture. They are going totally against the Indian culture of pluralism. They are moving towards fanaticism. With that, the force to fight against terrorism will disappear from the culture of India. Most unfortunately, that kind of a culture is encouraged here in the land of Mahatma Gandhi.”
The BJP working President JP Nadda and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis released the party’s manifesto earlier today for the upcoming state assembly polls. The manifesto stated the party’s demand to confer the Bharat Ratna award to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule and Veer Savarkar.
The Congress party harbours a virulent hatred against Veer Savarkar. On numerous occasions, they have called him a ‘traitor’ and worse. Recently, the students’ wing of the party had opposed the installation of Savarkar’s bust at Delhi University campus.
Rajeev Dhavan, the advocate for Muslim parties in the Ram Janambhoomi land dispute, appears to be clutching at straws while he makes a case for the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya. In the process, he is making statements that are indefensible.

“Aurangzeb was one of the most liberal rulers,” said Dhavan and if reports are to be believed, it created a flutter in the Court as well. In reality, what Dhavan said is not far from the truth. Liberalism, as it has come to mean in the 21st century, is pretty much in alliance with the ideology that Aurangzeb championed. At times, it is extremely difficult to distinguish between the two.
It is not disputed in civilized circles that Aurangzeb was one of the most vicious tyrants to have ever lived. He embodied the worst of humanity and was a religious fanatic who indulged in terrible persecution of Hindus. He was a personification of everything that is wrong with Monotheism. These facts are not debatable nor are they debated in polite company.
The fact that an advocate as senior as Rajeev Dhavan could make such a statement in the highest court of the country, knowing fully well that he will have to suffer no consequences for it, is an indictment of secular democracy itself. A person could not ever claim that Adolf Hitler was a virtuous man and defend him without suffering severe consequences for it. However, Aurangzeb, who was as much of a tyrant as Hitler is still revered by a section of the Indian population and they feel emboldened enough to make a defence of him in the Supreme Court.
For too many years, Aurangzeb has been the litmus test for secularism. Only if you were willing to whitewash a million crimes of Aurangzeb, defend his atrocities and sing effusive praise of him could you be honoured with the title of ‘secular’ and be inducted into the elite Lutyens cabal that has dominated the corridors of political and academic power all this while? They continue to dominate it even now but they realize that their power is on the decline.
There is a particular quote by a wise man that I am fond of quoting which explains why Aurangzeb is the litmus test for secular credentials among many other things. It goes, “In many ways, nonsense is a more effective organizing tool than the truth. Anyone can believe in the truth. To believe in nonsense is an unforgeable demonstration of loyalty. It serves as a political uniform. And if you have a uniform, you have an army.” The words perfectly explain why it’s necessary to swear by the honour of Aurangzeb to be admitted into the Lutyens club: It’s a demonstration of loyalty.
Dhavan’s effusive praise for Aurangzeb captures brilliantly the essential position in favour of Babri Masjid. It can be summarized as “Aurangzeb was a pious man, so was Babur. Islamic intolerance in medieval India is a figment of the imagination. Babri has always been there, it doesn’t matter what happened to the Mandir underneath. Just give us our Babri back and uphold secularism.” An endorsement of this position is an endorsement of Radical Islam and Jihad.
The Babri position also elucidates everything that is wrong with secularism in India. It is precisely the brand of secularism that was thoroughly rejected by the Indian population in 2014 and again in 2019 with an even bigger mandate. It is the same brand of secularism that wants to preserve Jammu & Kashmir as an Islamic State in India. Rightly or wrongly, liberalism currently is not much different from Radical Islam in the objectives both these factions wish to accomplish. In that way, Aurangzeb was truly one of the most liberal rulers. And it’s also why liberalism was rejected by Indians in two consecutive general elections.
Ayyub Mansuri, a Juhapura resident of Ahmedabad city had last week severed his wife’s tongue with a knife. In defence, the 46-year-old man from Juhapura has said to the police that he was compelled to do so because his wife’s tongue ‘had got stuck with his while they were kissing’ on October 9.
However, the police officials who questioned Mansuri on this bizarre act of violence claimed that his answers to the questions asked of him were evasive. A Vejalpur police official said, “Mansuri narrated the sequence of events of October 9. He said when things turned passionate he discovered his wife Tasleem’s tongue got fused with his. He tried separating the two tongues, during which his wife’s tongue was severed.”
In addition to this, Mansuri further added that he panicked after realising that his wife’s tongue was cut and that she was bleeding profusely. He left her wife in the lurch and ran away after locking her inside the house.
Mansuri’s wife Tasleem was rushed to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel hospital on the night of October 9. Tasleem cannot speak or eat properly. Tasleem’s brother-in-law, Idrish Mansuri, said that she has undergone a surgery and has been put on a liquid diet. Tasleem is the third wife of Mansuri and he is her second husband. Mansuri is also accused of regularly beating Tasleem after they got married in March 2018.
Mansuri’s wife has stated to the police that Mansuri used to regularly beat her up. She has added, “On Wednesday night at around 11 pm, when we were lying on one bed, my husband smiled at me and told that he wanted to kiss me on my tongue. I stuck out my tongue and as soon as I did, he first bit my tongue and held it and then cut it off with a knife,” stated the woman, who was unable to speak.
It is notable here that Mansuri was also previously accused of murder for allegedly burning his first wife Parveen to death. While the judicial proceedings were ongoing, Mansuri married another woman from Mumbai and assaulted her too. She left him. Then he had married Tasleem. Mansuri is currently lodged in Sabarmati jail under judicial custody.
A disturbing video has gone viral wherein an owner of a private security agency in Bengaluru is seen brutally assaulting his employees.
In the video shared by News9, Salim Khan, the managing director of a private security agency named, Bangalore Security Force, can be seen hitting two employees, who are laying helpless on the floor, with his shoe.
At one point in the video, Salim Khan is seen trampling upon his employee’s neck while he lies incapably on the floor. One of the victim in a feeble voice is trying to convince his employer, who is visibly miffed over something, that he is not lying, but Salim Khan refuses to forego.
While the video becomes inaudible at intervals, one of the victims can be clearly heard saying, “sir, zindagi mein nahi karega saheb, aisa nahi kiya hain sir…” roughly translated as (sir I will not do anything like this in my life, sir, I have not done anything like this) but Salim Khan continues to hit the employee with his shoes. The second employee can be heard begging for pardon saying “hum mar jayega sir…” (we’ll die, sir), but Salim Khan continues to assault the two employees.
Salim Khan, a native of Karimganj in Assam, who has been running this security agency for the last six months has a history of wrongdoings ranging from theft to grievous assaults. He has four cases registered against him in different police stations in the city. FIRs have been filed in two of those cases as well.
News 9, got in touch with a human rights activist named Anil Nayak, who informed that this despicable act where the accused is seen assaulting, trampling upon or beating his employees is a gross violation of Article 21 of the constitution and appealed to the Karnataka state human rights commission and the Bengaluru city police commissioner to take suo moto cognisance of this issue.
The video, which has gone viral, has received severe flak on social media. Riled Twitter users have asked for immediate action against Salim Khan.
Update: An FIR has now been filed against Salim Khan, who can be seen beating his employees up in the video.
BB Lal, the former director-general (DG) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), who is credited to have excavated the Ram Janmabhoomi site in 1976-77 and three members of his team have stood in support of fellow archaeologist KK Muhammed after an AMU professor had claimed that Muhammed was not part of their team in 1976-77.
Responding to the letter written by a professor named Syed Ali Rizvi, 98-year-old BB Lal himself confirmed that KK Muhammed was part of the team that excavated Ram Janmabhoomi site in 1976-77.
“It is a fact that Shri KK Muhammed was there with me when I was excavating the Ram Janmabhoomi area in Ayodhya,” Lal, 98, told TOI in an email.
Syed Ali Rizvi, Chairman of the Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University, had written a letter stating said Muhammed was never part of BB Lal’s team. Rizvi had written a letter after KK Muhammed had stated that there was no doubt that a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu existed below Babri Masjid. In an interview, Muhammed had said that he was the only Muslim archaeologist in the team led by BB Lal which had excavated the Ram Janmabhoomi site in 1976-77.
However, Rizvi had countered Muhammed’s claims by saying that the latter’s name was not present anywhere in the ASI reports filed by BB Lal himself. After Rizvi’s letter, three other members from the team apart from KK Muhammed himself have refuted AMU professor’s claim.
Ramakant Chaturvedi, who retired as director of Municipal Museum, Gwalior in 2007, said Muhammed had participated in the excavation at Ayodhya in 1976-77 as a trainee. “Muhammed was a student of ASI’s School of Archaeology at Delhi. He was with me,” he said.
The 75-year old Chaturvedi gave the details of the excavations and said they were carried out under a project called Archaeology of Ramayan Sites. The project was led by BB Lal himself, who was the ASI DG from 1968 to 1972 and also director of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla.
Another former archaeologist Rajnath Kaw, who retired as ASI’s chief photographer in 2005, made similar statements saying that Muhammed was the only Muslim member to part of Lal’s team. Clarifying on the absence of Muhammed’s name in the ASI’s Annual Reports, Kaw said that it was common to not include the names of the trainees in the project reports and only names of the members of the project were included. He said Muhammed was a student of the School of Archaeology, Delhi.
Ashok Pandey, a retired superintending archaeologist at Bhopal and a former classmate of KK Muhammed in School of Archaeology, said that Muhammed and 10 other students of the school were part of the team which took part in the excavation at Ayodhya in 1976-77.
He said School of Archaeology would admit about 12 candidates for a one-year post-graduate (PG) diploma course in archaeology every year. The classes would commence in September-October. These students would be sent by ASI for two-month training in excavation between December and February every year as excavations generally take place in the winters, he said. The 63-year-old Pandey said it was during this part of the training that they had joined BB Lal for excavation at Ayodhya.
A week after a family of three was brutally murdered in Murshidabad in West Bengal, the police has arrested one person who had allegedly committed the crime. On Tuesday morning, the West Bengal police informed media in a press conference that they have arrested one Utpal Behera, who had confessed to murdering teacher Bandhu Prakash Pal, his wife Beauty Pal who was pregnant, and their six-year-old son. As Pal was a member of RSS, the case was seen as one of the dozens of political murders happening in the state, but police have said that they found no political angle in the crime. They have said the brutal triple murder was done for a dispute over mere ₹24,000.
Murshidabad SP Mukesh Kumar said that Utpal Behera is a resident of Sahapur and he is a mason by profession, and he had confessed to have committed the crime on the day of Viaya Dashami last week. They have claimed to have found the murder weapon, a letter hand-written by Beauty Pal, some bank and insurance documents, and blood-stained clothes.
Police informed that although Bandhu Prakash Pal is from Jiyganj, he used to stay in Sahapur village in Sagardighi as he was a teacher there. He was associated with several finance companies, and also worked as an insurance agent for several insurance companies. In Sahapur he did an insurance policy of Utpal Behera’s father Madhab Behera with a yearly premium of ₹24,000. Madhab Behera received the first year receipt on time, but after paying the second premium, he didn’t receive the receipt. Police said that several other people have also accused that Bandhu Prakash had collected money from them but didn’t deposit that with the insurance company.
Police also informed that Bandhu Prakash was under pressure from several lenders as large amounts of money due to them by him.
Utpal alleged that despite asking several times, his father didn’t receive the receipt, instead, Bandhu Prakash Pal started misbehaving with him. This led to Utpal suspecting that their money has not been deposited, and he decided to take revenge for this.
Police have said that Utpal has said that he called Bandhu Prakash on 3rd October, and visited the area on the night of Navami, but as he didn’t know the house, he came back. On 8th he called Bandhu Prakash in the morning, who gave directions to his home, and Utpal Behera arrived there at just after 12, ready with sharp weapons. Bandhu Prakash Pal opened the door for him, and Utpal hacked his neck on the spot. At that time Beauty Pal was talking on phone. After killing the teacher, Utpal than killed Beauty and their son. He said that he had to kill them as they were witnesses to his first murder. Police have said that Beauty’s phone records confirm that she was talking on phone at 12.06 PM, the time of the murder.
All three murders were done in five minutes, and he had fled the scene by 12.11 PM, when a milkman came to the house. Utpal escaped from there by pushing him. Police claim that several other persons in the locality saw him going out of the house.
Police have said that financial dealings were the only motive of the triple murder, and there were no other reasons like political or personal enmities. Police will present Utpal Behera in court today and seek his custody for interrogation.
