“AMU and Jamia should provide reservations to Dalits like the BHU,” says UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has demanded that seats be reserved for Dalits at minority-run institutions like the Aligarh Muslim University and the Jamia Milia Islamia in Delhi and requested all those concerned about Dalit rights make a demand for the same.

Yogi Adityanath argued that if institutions like the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) could provide reservations for Dalits, then so could the AMU and Jamia. At a public meeting in Kannauj, he said, “Ek prashna yeh bhi pucha jana chahiye jo keh rahe hain ki Dalit ka apman ho raha hai… ki akhir Dalit bhaiyon ko Aligarh Muslim University aur Jamia Millia University mein bhi arakshan dene ka labh milna chahiye, is baat ko uthane ka karya kab karenge. (One question should be raised to all those who are saying that Dalits are being humiliated … when would they asked for the reservation for our Dalit brothers in Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia).”

The Mahant of Gorakhnath Muth also attacked Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his recent temple-run streak. Remarking on the Congress’ claim that Rahul Gandhi is a ‘Janeu-Dhari’ Hindu, he said, “But four generations of his ancestors never wore a janeu (sacred thread). Lekin jab bharat ki vastavik takat ka ehsas Rahul Gandhi ko hota hai to Rahul Gandhi ki mandir yaad ane lagte hain. (When Rahul Gandhi realised the true strength of India, he started remembering temples).”

Yogi Adityanath’s remarks will sting those political leaders like Jignesh Mevani and others who preach ‘Dalit-Muslim unity‘ with the objective of creating a unified vote bank of the two while separating Dalits from the Hindu fold. His remarks intend to expose the fact that despite harping on about Dalit-Muslim unity, Muslim politicians and those who indulge in minority appeasement don’t demand that Muslim institutions make concessions for the betterment of Dalits.

IAF guard collapses during ceremonial reception, Prime Minister Modi enquires after him

Prime Minister Modi was at Rashtrapati Bhawan along with President Kovind today to receive Seychelles President Danny Faure, who arrived in India on Friday for a six-day trip to hold bilateral talks with India on a range of issues. While, the Seychelles President was welcomed with a ceremonial reception an Indian Air Force guard collapsed due to heat stroke. PM Modi, after welcoming President Faure, returned to the ceremony to enquire about the health of the guard.

It is not unusual for a guard to collapse especially due to the weather conditions and prolonged periods of strict postures.  Most of the times it is because of the heat or the locking of knees which blocks the circulation of blood to the person’s head causing the person to collapse.

It is more common in standing formation like the one the IAF guard was during the president’s ceremonial reception.

The national capital has been facing severe heat with temperature above 3 to 5 degrees above normal than what is around during this time of the year, while the MeT department has said there will be some relief from the heat only towards the end of the month.

Under fire from security forces, Naxals ask locals to choose between joining them and death

In a possible sign of desperation creeping into the left wing terrorists, Naxals have begun threatening locals in Chattisgarh’s Dantewada, to try force one member of each family to join them, ANI has reported. This as per the report has been prompted by the Naxals rapidly seeking to strengthen their organisation in the light of heightened action by security forces.

A local quoted by the report claimed that the Naxals have told them that one member of their family has to join them otherwise they would be killed. This as per the local, has installed fear in them and has rendered them unable to comprehend what to do next.

Deputy Inspector General R L Dangi though has dismissed the news by claiming that he has no information regarding the matter. He claimed that the population of Naxals is declining by the day, owing to which they might be creating psychological pressure among the locals.

Incidentally news of such Naxal desperation comes in the light of some left wing terrorists expressing their intention to go back to their families so that they can lead normal lives. This decision too has been purportedly prompted by the incessant operations of Indian security forces, leading the Naxals to fear for their lives.

As per reports, the decision taken by locals to shun the “red terror” path is also inspired by the development of the region which includes availability of basic facilities like electricity, roads, schools and healthcare.

This development includes the Modi government’s decision to spend Rs 11,000 crore for providing road connectivity to 44 Maoist-affected districts and electrifying, building a bridge delayed by nine years in just 30 days, erecting mobile towers and starting a first express train service the Maoist bastion of Dantewada.

Such measures as almost confirmed above, have dealt a blow to the “state apathy” narrative, used ever so frequently by the left wing terrorists to seek sympathy for their actions.

Government urges Sonia, Mamata and Mayawati to ‘keep an open mind’ aiming for their support on Triple Talaq issue

Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad has urged former Congress President Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to cooperate with the government for acceptance of the Triple Talaq Bill in Rajya Sabha.

Talking about women empowerment and gender equality, Ravi Shankar wondered, why, even though being women themselves, Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati, and Mamata Banerjee was silent on the issue of Triple Talaq. The minister said “that the bill has a clear linkage to gender justice, gender dignity, and gender equality. 22 Islamic countries have banned it. India is a secular country. Why are important leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Mayawati and Mamata Banerjee backtracking on it when the issue is purely justice and empowerment of women?”

While desiring to know as to why the opposition has issues with the non-bailable clause in the Bill, Ravi Shankar Prasad, reiterated that the Government had an ‘open mind’ on the clause in the Bill that allows a third party to file a complaint.

Despite Supreme Court’s ruling which came on 22nd August 2017, making instant triple talaq(talaq-e-biddat) in any form-spoken, be it in writing or by electronic means such as email, SMS, and WhatsApp illegal, unconstitutional, and void, with up to three years in jail for the husband and Lok Sabha passing the Bill, the Government, still failed to get it passed in Rajya Sabha and planned to take the ordinance route to criminalise “talaq-e-biddat,” the practice of instant triple talaq among Muslims.

When asked, why the government has not brought an ordinance on triple talaq yet, though it is so serious about the issue, Prasad said, “A call was taken that let us take it to Rajya Sabha and let us see the attitude of others. I want to say (to the Opposition), please have an open mind on triple talaq. It has nothing to do with politics at all. It is only for justice to women.”

While this move was welcomed by the majority, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is generally brisk to react to all developments, had maintained silence over this verdict. Trinamool Congress MLA and West Bengal Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind President, who is also the Library and Mass Education Minister had described the Supreme Court verdict on instant triple talaq “unconstitutional” saying that the court and the government have no right to “interfere in internal matters of Islam”. It is rather ironical that well-informed politicians representing the State bear such opinions.

It is disheartening too, that a state which is represented by a woman itself, fails to provide protection and assurance to the women living there. Ishrat Jahan, one of the five petitioners in the landmark Supreme Court verdict which pronounced instant triple talaq invalid, had faced a social boycott and character assassination back home in Howrah, West Bengal. Jahan had been allegedly facing social boycott and insinuations and being ostracised by her in-laws and neighbours in Howrah’s Pilkhana.

While the women state leader’s plight was such, the Center saw no difference. Sonia Gandhi, who is not only a prominent woman politician but is also the chairperson of UPA, the alliance which was in power for ten years preceding 2014, was missing while the bill seeking to criminalize the practice of instant triple talaq was introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Surrendered Naxals eager to return to normal lives, Modi Sarkar’s multipronged approach has taken Left-wing terrorism to its deathbed

0

Three Naxals, who surrendered before the security forces recently, said that they want to go back to their families. They have said that their family members were worried due to constant operations of security forces and added they now want to go back to lead normal lives.

Coming down hard on Left-wing terrorists has been one of the major achievements of the BJP government. The government has been following a multi-pronged approach to curb left-wing terrorism. Extensive and targeted action on Naxals by security agencies is also combined with wide-spread infrastructure development and providing access to local tribal populations to education and financial development and this has been showing great results in Naxal infested areas.

Hundreds of Naxals have surrendered in the past months. That includes both low-rung ground-level operatives to the high cadre terrorists. At the same time, there has been a constant onslaught of intense combing operations and encounters in the Naxal-inflicted areas of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

In April, in one of the most successful operations, security forces had eliminated 35 terrorists. In May, 44 districts were removed from the list of Left-wing terrorism affected districts and Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced that Chhattisgarh will also get its own specialised task force ‘Black Panthers‘ in the lines of the ‘Greyhounds’ of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The government has also been taking decisive steps to curb fundings received by Left-wing terrorists. The NIA has been investigating the inter-state modules through funding and money trails. In May, it was announced that a multidisciplinary agency has been set up by the Home Ministry for tracing and choking the funding channels of Naxals and Maoists. The multidisciplinary agency consists of officials from the IB, ED, NIA and CBI.

Road constructions in the deep Naxal infested areas have been a major cause of worry for the Naxals as it facilitates transport and access to employment, healthcare and education. All major attacks by Maoists almost always target road construction projects and bridges that help the locals to a better lifestyle and thus dissuades them from joining Naxal activities. The Modi government has allocated a massive 11,000 crores for 5,412 km of roads, including 126 bridges in Naxal affected districts under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna.

Electrification and mobile network connectivity in the red corridors have been the other developmental push. Access to technology and electricity not only has helped to bring out major success in providing healthcare and educational benefits, it has helped the locals to take advantage to government schemes to get social and economic advancements that have been kept away from them for decades after independence.

With development being brought to their doorsteps, the locals in Naxal infested areas not only are shunning the left-wing terrorists, they are increasingly being inclined towards education and employment. While the security forces eliminating Maoists in droves and more and more youth being dissuaded from joining their ranks, Left-wing terrorism seems to be taking its last breaths in India.

When Congress tried to burn all copies of a movie satirising Emergency. Watch what upset them

0

It is ironic that for a party which takes credit for India’s independence, cares too little for freedom of India’s citizens, especially when it comes to freedom of expression. We had earlier exposed Congress’ hypocrisy when it comes to freedom of expression. On the 43rd anniversary of Indira Gandhi imposing Emergency, we would like to remind you of the time when Congress, in all its foolish glory, tried to burn all copies of a movie, ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’, which satirised Emergency.

Power clouding his head, Sanjay Gandhi, son of Indira Gandhi, took it upon himself to silence everything that spoke against his mother’s regime. In 1977, the political satire ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’ produced by former Congress MP Amrit Nahata, who left Congerss after the Emergency, was not only banned, the CBFC even refused certification. Following this, Nahata, moved Supreme Court where the SC judges wanted to see the film before deciding the petition. All the prints were brought from Mumbai to Delhi, taken to Maruti factory in Gurugram and burnt.

Ironically, the film had spoofed Sanjay Gandhi’s auto-manufacturing plans and Congress supporters. Maruti Ltd was a company floated by Sanjay Gandhi in 1971 to manufacture cars in India, and was clouded with corruption, bending rules, pulling strings and extortion.

The plot of the film revolved around a corrupt politician, Gangaram, who tried to woo ‘janta’ – a mute and helpless lady played by Shabana Azmi. Azmi’s character symbolised the silent majority, quite similar to R K Laxman’s political satire cartoons where the common man is usually a mute spectator.

The movie was not just about Emergency but was a satire on the way India was being governed. It had many scenes that would rub the Congress party the wrong way. It demonstrated the malpractices and corruption that happened in the name of social welfare, which clearly would not have gone down well with Congress – the party that had ruled the country uninterrupted since independence at that time.

For example, look at the following scene that shows how a government scheme supposed to help the common man was marred by corruption and the hardworking common man got a raw deal:

But what might have hurt the party leaders even more were scenes that directly took potshots the way Congress created its ecosystem. Say, the following video clip that satirises Padma Awards:

A wealthy businessman cornering bulk of nation’s resources is being awarded as a socialist philanthropist (Suit-boot ki Sarkar anyone?) and a socialite close to the party leaders is being awarded as a social worker working for women empowerment (ah, you can think of many such ‘intellectuals’). And the most pinching part – the President is awarding himself the highest award (no prizes for guessing who!).

Sanjay Gandhi, for his part, was held guilty for burning prints, and as Supreme Court denied him bail, he spent a month in Tihar Jail. The film was finally released in 1978, after Congress lost the elections. Nahata ended his film career and never made any other film after this.

Sanjay Gandhi was held guilty for burning prints of the film ‘Kissa Kursi Ka’

Not much has changed when it comes to Congress and their inability to take criticism on celluloid. When Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Indu Sarkar, which was fictionalised version of some events during the Emergency was released, many Congress goons took to streets and disrupted screening in some theatres.

Staggering rates of HIV among gay and bisexual men that no one is talking about

There’s a significant hazard that is threatening the lives of the LGBT community the world over that everyone appears to be ignoring. With the ever-increasing frequency of Gay Pride Parades, one would have thought these issues would have been highlighted. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In 2012, the Government of India submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court which asserted that 7% of the estimated gay population was suffering from HIV. The National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) in a 2015-16 annual report claimed that 4.3% of gay men were living with HIV. The National HIV prevalence rate was pegged at 0.26%.

Such high rates of HIV among the LGBT population is not limited only to India. In 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that although gay and bisexual men made up only 2% of the U.S. population, they accounted for 70% of new HIV infections.

Globally, Men who have sex with Men (MSM) are 24 times more likely to be living with HIV than the general population. In 2014 and 2015, MSM accounted for 54% of new HIV infections in Western Europe, 68% in North America and 30% in Latin America and the Caribbean. In fact, MSM is a high-risk vulnerable group to AIDS along with sex workers, intravenous drug users and clients of sex workers.

HIV is not the only disease that threatens the well-being of members of the LGBT community. The community appears to suffer from higher rates of mental illness than the average population and also has higher suicide rates. Dr Dinesh Ponraj, a Chennai-based venereologist, claimed that 60-70% members of the community are on a regular dose of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication. In the USA, the CDC reported that Queer teens are 4 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population. Studies have also reported that the LGBT population is 3 times more likely to suffer from mental illness and are less healthy than the general population.

LGBT Activism, in recent years, has focused mostly on the issue of mental illness affecting the community but it has almost completely ignored the even higher rates of HIV affecting the members of the community. Activists who are genuinely concerned about the well-being of the LGBT community should not prioritize one over the other.

Eye-witness in the ‘inter-faith’ couple passport row alleges abduction attempt

The controversial case of ‘inter-faith’ couple‘s passport case took a turn when a witness, Kuldeep Singh who had come out in support of the passport officer Vikas Mishra, alleged abduction. Kuldeep claimed he was kidnapped by some people and brought near the Indo-Nepal border in Lakhimpur Kheri, from where he managed to escape.

Vikas Mishra allegedly misbehaved with the ‘inter-faith‘ couple at the Lucknow Passport office where he was accused of asking the Muslim husband to convert to Hinduism and yelling at the wife when she refused to change her name in the passport.

As per reports, Singh was kidnapped at gunpoint by at least three unidentified men. Recounting the incident, Gola circle officer, Abhishek Pratap said, Singh came to the Sansarpur police outpost at around 8 p.m on Saturday. There Singh informed the concerned authority that at around 2 p.m he was on his way to the post office in Lucknow from his house in Jankipuram area when three men stepped out of an old model Scorpio and asked Singh to get in the car at gunpoint. Singh claims he was drugged and lost consciousness, but he managed to escape once he regained consciousness.

Lucknow Police has taken up the matter for further investigation.

Modi approves committee for standardization of Metro systems in India, E Sreedharan may chair the committee

In another move to bolster national infrastructure and connectivity, Prime Minister Modi today approved the proposal for a committee to look into and create a national standardization for metro rails in the country. E Sreedharan, more popularly known as India’s ‘Metro Man’ may head the committee as per reports.

Sreedharan is a retired Indian Engineering Services officer who is credited with being the man behind the Delhi Metro. He served as the Managing Director of Delhi Metro from 1995 to 2012. While inaugurating Delhi Metro’s Mundka- Bahadurgarh section earlier today, Prime Minister Modi talked about his government’s vision to build an urban public transit system which is convenient, affordable and comfortable.

Modi stated that on identifying the need for greater coherence and standardisation of metro systems across the country, his government brought out a policy relating to metros. The initiative ‘Make in India’ was also mentioned by him as he stated how India is making metro coaches to boost this particular initiative. India earlier exported such coaches to Australia.

The role of other countries in making Delhi Metro was mentioned by the Prime Minister. The role reversal that has taken place under the incumbent government pertaining to India helping other countries by designing coaches for their metro systems was also stated by the Prime Minister.

According to Modi, the metro coach making initiative is a testament to the ‘co-operative federalism’ that this government wants to promote. Wherever the coaches are being made in India, the central and the state is working together, Modi stated.

The prime minister pointed out the need for smart infrastructure and his governments focus on connectivity. He stated, “New India requires new and smart infrastructure. We have worked on roads, railways, highways, airways, waterways and i-ways. There is unparalleled focus on connectivity and ensuring development projects are completed on time”

The Wire publishes an article which seems like a Hurriyat press statement

0

I have come across many articles which reek of narrative mongering and subversive tendencies but I have never seen an article which would read like a press release from the infamous “Hurriyat Conference”. During the past few days, I have tried to expose the blatant misinformation that is being presented as “independent journalism” by the leftist propaganda website “The Wire”.  This article is written by Prem Shankar Jha, who according to the propaganda website, is a senior journalist and author of several books.

His musings about Kashmir has always been driven by his ivory tower upbringing and Oxfordian sense of superiority. He had earlier claimed in a Tehelka TV interview that by 1995 all terror activities had stopped and the Indian forces then started shooting these ‘unarmed boys’. Yes, these murderous mobs hell-bent on killing the forces are nothing but ‘unarmed boys’. That interview deserves its own article but that is a story for another day.

In his article – “The BJP’s dangerous endgame in Kashmir’’, he starts off his long list of assumptions by first bestowing praise upon Mehbooba Mufti, calling her a ‘lioness’ and an alien in Kashmiri politics because of her courage. The courage shown by Mufti resulted in the increased Ramzan violence even after a ceasefire, a presumption from my part of course, but if we look at the past four years Mufti and her party could neither restrict nor diminish the surge of militancy in the valley. The only characteristic, which has been overt in Mufti is one of indecisiveness and soft stance against terrorists.

Jha calls BJP’s decision to leave the government in J&K, a trap to bring in governor’s rule. He is not of the opinion that people of Jammu deserve a representation and the mandate that the BJP has promised in the state and to the nation matters. Keeping his lop-sided views aside, if we just look at the growing numbers of terrorist activities in Kashmir under Mufti’s rule it becomes apparent, or in Jha’s own words “but this explanation falls under critical scrutiny”. Neither he sees the centre’s multiple initiatives to reach out to the people of Kashmir be it arranging iftar parties, Ramzan ceasefire, the flood rescue operations and so on and so forth. He discreetly never brought these things up in the article.

Jha also has an explanation for the timing of BJP’s withdrawal. He is of this unsubstantiated opinion that the BJP wishes to use Kashmir for 2019. The assumption alone is not that disturbing but then he went on to add Amarnath Yatri’s will not be safe because PDP supporters from the adjoining villages of the two routes for the pilgrimage will no longer provide intelligence to the police. According to Jha, political expediency will always take precedence over the safety of other fellow Indians as far as PDP is concerned. If this is true then BJP has done a commendable job by disassociating themselves from such an organization.

No ‘The Wire’ article is ever complete without insinuating that people are eating grass and living in miserable condition under the current government. Sometimes this ad-hominem takes over the author of such articles and they produce absolutely ridiculous assertions just like Jha. He accuses the incumbent government of following a policy of high interest and demonetization has compounded the misery of the people by making the industrial and infrastructure investment come to a standstill. The construction industry and agricultural industry is in dire condition. He then adds that GST has forced the employment growth to a standstill. Jha believes that this has happened every year for the last four years.

“Every year for the last four years” – GST was implemented on 1st April 2017 and Demonetization on 8th November 2016. It seems Jha has forgotten the basics of cross-checking in his pursuit of a quick fix of anti-BJP fit. As far as the industrial and infrastructural investments are concerned India’s LPI performance has been exceptional in all sectors, this report by the World Bank, where Jha worked attests the same.

The above chart shows how India’s overall LPI rank has grown from being 46 in 2012 to be ranked 35 in 2016. This chart indicates that all in sectors India has significantly improved its ranking and consistently so. The LPI is an average of six different indicators which are stated in the chart.

The investment in infrastructure has been growing consistently with the recent budget allocating the US $61.92 Billion. This government also realized the need for a separate fund thus created ‘National Investment and Infrastructure Fund’ (NIIF) in 2016. The construction sector outlook is also positive as stated by the Builders Association of India, National president HN Vijaya Raghava Reddy. According to Reddy Construction industry is expected to employ about 80 million workers by 2020. These statements are in stark contrast to the narrative Jha peddles in this article.

Now, in the last paragraph of this article Jha’s idea and his agenda becomes much clearer as he declares his solution to the Kashmir problem. Here Jha calls Mufti a ‘kashmiri nationalist’ and asks for a full return to the commitments made in 1947, which according to him is the only way to achieve peace in Kashmir, India and interestingly enough, Pakistan.

Jha also says that increased counter-insurgency operations by Indian forces would ‘provoke’ Pakistan to redouble their efforts to infiltrate terrorists. Now the insinuation here is not only outrageous but also a prime example of how much distorted Jha’s view is. This willful denial of reality persists as he states that many more military and ‘civilian’ casualties and some convenient attempts to assassinate Modi will get BJP through the 2019 elections. He never mentions the word terrorists who would be neutralized because in his head there are no terrorists everyone is civilian or unarmed boys, who occasionally pick up Kalashnikovs to kill innocent people and our soldiers.

He also illustrates how PDP could have remained in power and carried on initiatives such as freeing of stone pelters and other ‘political dissidents’. Wait! Aren’t they just unarmed, poor and misguided youths who are just looking for employment? Maybe it’s just what Jha says while talking to Tehelka? Continuing with Jha’s prescribed policies, in addition to the freeing of stone pelters, he wants mufti to offer a general amnesty to all surrendered militants and extend the same to the other militants willing to surrender.

So basically, a terrorist can go on a rampage killing a number of civilians and security personnel and claim amnesty, according to him. A bit outrageous and irrational but what more can be expected from Wire and their bunch of coveted clowns. He also mentions giving the ‘Hurriyat’ an open contract and asking their help in ending the militancy and the end of terror in the valley.

Now, what does Jha mean by “a full return to the commitments made in 1947”? Well, here is what he means. Mind you Dr. B.R. Ambedkar refused to draft this article and Nehru was forced to ask Gopalaswamy Aayangar to draft the article. Aayangar was a minister without a portfolio in the first union cabinet and also a former Diwan to the Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu & Kashmir.

The initial autonomy that was given to the state of J&K did not include Defence, Communication, External Affairs and Ancillaries as these rights were surrendered by the princes de-facto at the time of signing the instrument of accession. The difference in the case of J&K was that Patel was kept out of this negotiation thus like others princely states, Patel could not persuade Hari Singh to accept the Indian constitution in its totality. This created a constitutional vacuum that is why the 370 was introduced and the idea was that in time J&K will accept the Indian constitution in its totality. This is precisely why the Article 370 had the term ‘temporary provision’ included in its name. National Conference did not take any advice from the larger section of populous living in Jammu and Ladakh while contemplating on the article.

The problem Jha has is the later years when most of its perceived autonomy was taken away by a change in the language in the provision. The original draft explained the state government as – “The person for the time being recognized by the President as the Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir acting on the advice of the council of ministers for the time being in office under the Maharaja’s proclamation date fifth day of March 1948”.

On November 15th, 1952 it was changed and later in 1954 ratified which only gave the state the special power to make special provision regarding the permanent residence of the state. It meant all Indian state apparatus will be fully present and applicable to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier the Kashmiris proposed that council of ministers should work under the proclamation of the Maharaja which would have meant the state will not have a constitutional head but an autonomous monarchical head. The change in language and its subsequent ratification meant that a governor and a Legislative Assembly of the state be recognized and the state de-facto comes under the Indian constitutional umbrella.

The text in 1952 read –“The government of the state means the person for the time being recognised by the president on the recommendation of the Legislative assembly of the State as the Sadr-i-Riyasat (Governor) of Jammu and Kashmir, acting on the advice of the Council of Ministers of the state for the time being in office”.

So, Jha’s problem is not with the bloodshed but rather with India’s constitutional jurisdiction over Kashmir and just as many others like him, he does not give a two hoot for the people of Jammu and Ladakh who are as much a stakeholder in the state’s future as the Kashmiri speaking people from Kashmir.
