A shocking case of love jihad has come to light in Uttar Pradesh where a young Muslim man first trapped a Hindu girl from Bihar into love jihad by lying about his identity, started a romantic relationship with her and then brought her to Bareilly’s Dargah-e-Aala Hazrat. She was converted to Islam there. Afterwards, he fed her beef during their Nikah (Islamic wedding ceremony).

Furthermore, he forced her for an abortion after she conceived his child. He even assaulted her and kicked her out of the house. The victim has now pleaded with the Senior Superintendent of Police for justice.

The matter pertains to Sunni Nagar of the Baheri police station area. The accused approached the victim while working at Gurgaon and introduced himself as Rana. He then lured her into a love affair with him. According to reports, she stayed in a rented place in Delhi and he also lived nearby. He befriended her by claiming to be Rana and gradually tricked her into falling into his trap. He then took her to his residence in Baheri around one and a half years ago where she learned about the reality. However, he pressured her to embrace Islam at the dargah (Muslim shrine) and married her.

The female stated that she was thrashed and tortured after the wedding. She was also forced to abort the baby when she got pregnant. One day the culprit’s brother entered her room and raped her. When she told her husband after he came back home, he threatened her to keep her mouth shut and warned her that he would pour petrol and burn her alive if she revealed anything to anyone. She then reached Baheri police station but claimed that the cops drove her away rather than listening to her and hence submitted her grievances before the SSP.

The victim voiced that her lie is in danger and the perpetrator is also capable of murdering her. She is feeling very scared. She demanded strict action against her spouse soon otherwise feared that she could lose her life. The SSP has ordered to register a case regarding the matter after conducting a proper investigation.

‘Every day, we are watching in the media about post-poll violence.’: Calcutta HC slams Mamata govt, warns about retaining CAPF for 5 years in West Bengal

On Thursday (6th June), the Calcutta High Court rapped the Mamata Banerjee-led- Trinamool Congress government over post-poll violence in West Bengal.

While hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) into the matter, a 2-Judge Bench of Justices Kausik Chanda and Apurba Sinha Ray said that the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) might be retained in the State for the next 5 years if the government fails to control violence.

“We want to ensure security of the people of the state at any cost,” the court noted. Justice Koushik Chanda pointed out, “Every day, we are watching in the media about post-poll violence. What happened after the last Assembly election, the same thing is happening this time also.”

“You (State) should be ashamed. If the state fails to control this violence, we have to make a decision that in the next five years, the Central forces will stay in this state,” he cautioned.

In its 5-page judgment [pdf], the Calcutta High Court said, “Instances of post-poll violence are not unprecedented in this State. After the last Bidhan Sabha election, the entire nation witnessed unprecedented post-poll violence within the State.

Registration of complaints through emails

The court ruled that those aggrieved by post-poll violence can not only lodge their complaints at the nearest police station but almost submit them to the Director General and Inspector General of Police in West Bengal via the emails – [email protected] and [email protected]

Thereafter, the complaints need to be published immediately on the relevant website of the West Bengal Police and brought in public domain.

“In the event, the complaints disclose any cognizable offence, the Director General and Inspector General of Police, West Bengal shall immediately direct the concerned police station to register an FIR under the relevant provisions of law. Immediately after registration of such FIRs, the local police station shall take immediate steps against the miscreants in accordance with law,” the Calcutta High Court ordered.

Prevent loss of life and property: Calcutta HC

Justices Kausik Chanda and Apurba Sinha Ray also stated that the Director General and Inspector General of Police would monitor the process and submit a report within 10 days on the number of complaints received by the police, registration of FIRs and subsequent action.

They also directed the CAPF and the West Bengal police to cooperate and act immediately on the complaints received to prevent loss of lives and property.

“We also caution that if the State machinery fail to protect the lives and property of the citizens, appropriate orders will be passed on the next date of hearing,” the Calcutta High Court further directed.

Oracle engineer from India defeats Pakistan in T20 World Cup match: Who is Saurabh Netravalkar, and why are Pakistani fans so upset

As Saurabh Netravalkar orchestrated the United States of America’s stunning victory over Pakistan at the ICC World T20 2024, the Oracle engineer’s LinkedIn profile created a buzz on social media. On the 6th of June at Grand Prairie Stadium, the USA defeated Pakistan in a Super-Over thriller. USA defeating former champions Pakistan was one of the major upsets in T20 World Cup history and has left the Pakistani fans shocked.

How Saurabh Netravalkar coded the script of the USA’s win over Pakistan

With the USA choosing to field first, Netravalkar ended with 4-0-18-2 figures. He took the wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed as the USA restricted Pakistan to 159 runs for 7 wickets.k He was assigned to bowl in the Super Over. With the USA required to defend 18 runs in the one-over eliminator, Netravalkar excellently handled the pressure and stunned Pakistan. Netravalkar successfully restricted experienced Pakistani batsmen like Shadab Khan, Iftikhar, and Fakhar Zaman in the Super Over.

This win was not just a personal triumph but a significant achievement for USA Cricket, showcasing their growing prowess on the international stage. Netravalkar’s performance in the match, both as a bowler and a captain, was instrumental in this historic win, cementing his legacy in American cricket.

Interestingly, former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Hafeez appearing on a talk show on Thursday gave a message to the Pakistani team before their match against the USA. He said that cricket is the only field where Pakistanis can defeat the USA. “As a Pakistani, cricket is the only field where we [Pakistanis] think, we can defeat the US,” Hafeez said. However, Netravalkar’s performance on Thursday proved that beating the US even in cricket is difficult for Pakistan with a part-time cricketer like Netravalkar there to stun them.

Netravalkar’s cricketing journey from India to the US

Notably, in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, Netravalkar played for India alongside KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Sandeep Sharma. Netravalkar was born in 1991 and his ability to swing the ball both ways earned him a place in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad at the age of 17. Netravalkar was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign in 2010, and the left-arm fast bowler finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets in 6 matches.

Netravalkar, like many young cricketers, aspired to earn a spot in the India squad or get an IPL contract, however, with the presence of Ajit Agarkar, and Zaheer Khan among others, it was difficult for him to break in.

Netravalkar’s cricketing journey took a significant turn when he moved to the United States. His transition from Indian cricket to becoming a vital player for the USA Cricket team is a testament to his adaptability and dedication. He pursued a master’s degree in computer science at Cornell University., which led to a brief hiatus from professional cricket. However, his passion for the sport saw him return, this time donning the American jersey.

As a left-arm fast bowler, Saurabh Netravalkar quickly made a mark in the USA cricketing circuit. His ability to swing the ball and maintain a consistent line and length made him a formidable bowler. His leadership qualities were soon recognized, and he was appointed the captain of the USA national team. Under his captaincy, the USA team has seen significant improvements and notable victories, including a historic win against Pakistan on Thursday.

Netravalkar’s LinkedIn page creates buzz on social media

As Saurabh Netravalkar won the US its crucial match against Pakistan, his LinkedIn page sparked a discussion on social media. This is because Netravalkar is not even a full-time cricketer. As per his LinkedIn page, the star cricketer’s full-time job is “principal engineer at Oracle.” The US netizens are all praises for the Indian man winning games for US cricket in his spare time.

Interestingly, Netravalkar combined his love for cricket with his love for coding and developed a player-analysis application “CricCode”.

After the victory over Pakistan, the Netravalkar’s Instagram post featuring him singing “Om Namah Shivaya” has gone viral on social media. Many praised the Oracle techie for respecting his religion and roots, while others hailed him as a man of many talents.

Sweet revenge against Pakistan

It is worth recalling that the Indian Team in the 2010 Under 19 World Cup lost in the quarterfinals to the Pakistani team that had Babar Azam. Azam had an outstanding tournament, becoming the third-highest run-scorer.

Netravalkar played in the game, taking the wicket of another future Pakistan international, Ahmed Shehzad, and returning figures of 5-1-16-1. 14 years later, Netravalkar has played an unforgettable role in defeating Babar Azam’s Pakistan at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

As Netravalkar led the USA to victory against Pakistan, several Pakistani fans blasted their team for failing to beat even a new team led by a part-time cricketer.

SGPC blames Kangana for ‘targeting Punjab’, Sikh organizations honor family of Kulwinder Kaur who assaulted Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport

On June 7th, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami released a statement justifying the incident in which actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was assaulted at Chandigarh airport by a woman personnel named Kulwinder Kaur belonging to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Dhami blamed Kangana for the attack and said, her continuous ‘targeting’ of Punjab and Punjabis was extremely unfortunate and painful.

The SGPC President stated that Kangana Ranaut’s claim that terrorism is on the rise in Punjab is an indication of her bizarre thinking when the truth is that ‘terrorism is spreading through her own tongue, contaminating the country’s atmosphere’.

Advocate Dhami stated that Kangana Ranaut should never forget that the country’s multi-ethnic and multilingual culture exists today because of the sacrifices made by Punjabis for the country.

He stated that it is not desirable for the country to overlook the mutual peace and social interactions of its citizens in order to gain popularity by forgetting history. However, Kangana Ranaut is purposefully treading this route.

Advocate Dhami further also urged the Bharatiya Janata Party officials to educate Kangana Ranaut on self-control and moral values. “The reasons for the incident at the Chandigarh airport should be thoroughly investigated to see if Kangana Ranaut did not make any mischievous arguments to create an atmosphere of hatred against Punjab. The investigation conducted by the Central Security Force should be done without any political or personal influence so that no one is treated unfairly,” he said.

Sikh organisations visit the family of Kulwinder Kaur to ‘honour’ them

Meanwhile, it has come to the fore that some Sikh organisations on June 7th honored the family members of the now-suspended CISF official Kulwinder Kaur for attacking Ranaut at the Chandigarh Airport. The video of the incident is making rounds over social media in which the Sikh organization members could be seen honoring the family members of Kulwinder Kaur.

Yesterday, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable who assaulted the newly elected Member of Parliament from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, was suspended and a Police complaint was made by the security agency in the local police station.

A senior CISF officer said that the central security agency has suspended the woman constable and has given a complaint against her at the local police station for FIR, reported ANI. It is said that the now-suspended CISF jawan was furious at Kangana Ranaut because of her criticism of the farmers’ protest.

Earlier, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi also came in support of the attacker and justified the assault because Ranaut had criticized the farmer protestors. Chaturvedi wrote on X, “The newly elected MP had called the farmers terrorists. Perhaps this was the reason why the BJP gave her the ticket,” on her social media.

After the Bollywood star was assaulted, the constable was detained and taken to the CISF Commandant Office for interrogation. An inquiry committee comprising senior CISF officers has been set up to conduct a further investigation. Kangana Ranaut revealed that while she was walking to the airport’s boarding gate after passing through security, CISF official Kulwinder Kaur, who was stationed near the curtain area, argued with her and hit her. When the MP asked her why she did it, the CISF constable replied that she supported the farmer protests, and she was not happy with Kangana Ranaut for her remarks on the farmer protests.

In a video from the airport, the constable can be heard saying that she was angry because of Kangana Ranaut’s comments against farmer protests in 2020, saying that her mother was also part of the protests. She said that as Ranaut had woman protestors were available for hire for ₹100, it also applied to her mother who was sitting with the protestors during that time.

Congress govt in Karnataka bans ‘Hamare Baarah’ movie on overpopulation after requests by ‘minority organisations’

The Karnataka government has banned the release or broadcast of the movie ‘Hamare Baarah’ in the state for two weeks or until further notice.

The decision is in accordance with the Karnataka Cinema Regulations Act 1964, sections 15(1) and 15(5).

The Karnataka government alleged that the release of ‘Hamare Baarah’ would create communal tension in the state. Authorities made this decision after considering requests from several minority organizations and delegations, and after watching the trailer.

The imposition of the stay had raised serious concerns among the producers, who had invested significantly in the film’s production and distribution.

‘There is need to fight communalism in Muslim society’: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma warns about future crisis of Assam

On Thursday (6th June), Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pointed out that the Lok Sabha election results in Assam proved that Hindus are not communal in nature. He, however, warned about the need to fight communalism within the Muslim community.

While speaking to the media, he remarked, “Irrespective of the challenges of the nation, caste and people, Assam will be washed and taken away. So I think this election also reminds me once again of the future crisis in Assam.”

“Somewhere for example, in Guwahati, a Hindu seat, the people voted for both the BJP and the Congress. Jorhat has proved that Assamese people are not communal. It is true that they did not vote for the BJP but for Congress. This is the proof that Hindus are not communal,” the Assam CM emphasised.

It must be mentioned that the son of former Assam CM, Gaurav Gogoi, won from the Jorhat constituency by a whopping 1.44 lakh votes.

Himanta Biswa Sarma added, “What did the results of Jorhat prove? That Hindus do not practice communalism. But today the Congress won in a Hindu constituency but did the BJP win in a Muslim constituency?”

“There is (however) a need to fight communalism in the Muslim society,” he concluded.

Bombay HC stays Annu Kapoor’s ‘Hamare Baarah’ 2 days before release, movie’s actors and crew members received ISIS-style death threats from Islamists

The much-anticipated release of Annu Kapoor’s ‘Hamare Baarah’ is facing a major setback as the Bombay High Court imposed a stay on its release just two days before its release till June 14. The film was slated for release on June 7.

This decision has left the makers of the film in a state of deep devastation, casting a shadow of uncertainty over the much-awaited premiere.

‘Hamare Baarah’ has been a topic of widespread discussion due to its bold narrative on overpopulation, a theme rarely explored in Indian cinema.

Starring Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, and Paritosh Tripathi, the movie’s bold narrative and thought-provoking themes have captured the public’s imagination.

In light of the impending release, the film’s director and producers met with Maharashtra CM Shri Eknath Shinde, expressing gratitude for the safety and police protection provided during the release week.

However, the joy of anticipation has been overshadowed by the recent legal development.

The producers, Birender Bhagat and Ravi S Gupta have voiced serious concerns about the imposition of the stay despite the film having received a censor certificate.

Bhagat lamented, “Our film has received a certificate from the censor board. It is set to release on this Friday. We have invested crores of our hard-earned money in making the film, risked our entire life’s savings, and made this film with great difficulty. We are shocked and disappointed since a stay has been imposed on our film without even watching it.”

This legal obstacle comes in the wake of a petition filed by specific religious community activists at the Mumbai High Court against the release of the film.

Earlier, Islamists had issued ISIS-style death threats to actors and crew members of the movie, unhappy over the movie’s portrayal of Islam. The followers of radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan which was founded by the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Indian extremist Mufti Salman Azhari used social media, particularly Instagram, to threaten the filmmakers with death.

Videos depicting brutal beheadings akin to those carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) accompanied by Islamic hymns and verses were shared to warn the artists. Most of social media users who issued the threats are located in Mumbra of Maharashtra’s Thane district and have ties with the Social Democratic Party of India, which is the political wing of the outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI).

Muslims are being provoked to take action against Annu Kapoor and other people associated with the movie and ‘show them their place’. Additionally, they have posted videos including Islamic slogans and gun sounds. The movie producer’s phone number was also made public and the fundamentalists have been threatening to kill him over WhatsApp.

The radicals even posted footage of actual beheadings with ISIS flags and “Allah hu Akbar” to instil fear in the hearts of the cast and crew and warned that the director would meet the same fate if the movie was released.

Jointly produced by Birender Bhagat, Ravi S Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal and Sheo Balak Singh and Directed by Kamal Chandra, ‘Hamare Baarah’ boasts a screenplay penned by Rajan Agarwal.
