Scanned footage from over 1,000 CCTV cameras: Police narrate how ₹25 crore Delhi burglary case was solved, ‘Super Thief’ arrested with 18 kg gold & diamonds

0

Delhi Police scanned footage from over 1,000 CCTV cameras in its probe into the sensational burglary case in the city’s Bhogal area with the main accused, who has been arrested in Chhattisgarh, also “sleeping in the shop overnight” before decamping with jewellery estimated to be of about Rs 25 crore.

The accused, Lokesh Srivas, was arrested in Chhattisgarh in a joint operation by Chhattisgarh and Delhi Police.  A  Chhattisgarh Police official had said earlier that the accused was “a high-profile thief” and indulged in “big burglaries”.  Police officials also said that 18kg of gold and diamonds had been seized.

Delhi Police officials said that an accomplice of the main accused told Chhattisgarh Police during questioning that Srivas had committed “a big act” in Delhi.

They said the information related to  Lokesh Srivas matched the CCTV footage

“The CCTV footage showed the culprit wearing black trousers and a white shirt and walking with a bag. A mobile number was traced and its location on September 24 matched,” a  source said.

In a major incident of burglary in the national capital earlier this week, jewellery of about “Rs 20-25 crore” was stolen after creating a hole in the wall of the strong room of a shop in the Bhogal area.

Delhi Police sources said that Kashmere Gate was the first location of the culprit and he travelled by road. “He is seen alone in the CCTV footage,” the source said.

The accused “super chor” single-handedly carried out such a big burglary, they said.

The sources said the culprit went to the building adjacent to the jewellery shop on September 24 and made his exit after committing the burglary on the evening of September 25.

He went to the ISBT through a bus, sources said, adding that footage was scanned to know further details. The police got to know his destination and the police team left for Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur on September 28.

The sources said that Bilaspur Police, which were also probing burglary cases, carried out a raid at the residence of Chandravanshi, who is known to Srivas. However, Srivas managed to flee.

They said police were told that he had rented a house and was subsequently traced.

Delhi Police team also reached the place late evening on September 28 and and he was arrested on Friday around 6 am.

Chhattisgarh Police had earlier said that the burglary case in Delhi’s Bhogal area “has been solved” in a joint operation with Delhi Police and a  “high-profile” thief  has been arrested.

Additional SP Bilaspur Sanjay Dhruv said that Delhi Police was trying to solve the burglary case in which thieves decamped with jewellery of around Rs 25 crore earlier this week. He said Bilaspur Police was also trying to solve cases of theft.

The police official said that the accused is a resident of Durg in Chhattisgarh and the district police also had some hint about him.

“In a joint operation of Chhattisgarh Police and Delhi Police, a burglary case in a jewellery shop in Delhi has been solved. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway. The accused is a high-profile type of thief… We were constantly monitoring his movement and then further action was taken,” Sanjay Dhruv told ANI.

He said “jewellery stolen has been recovered” in the Delhi theft case and the accused arrested.

The police official said there are cases both in Delhi and Bilaspur regarding  burglaries and further action will be taken by police.

Answering queries about the accused, Dhruv said the accused did not indulge in “small theft crimes” and had indulged in theft worth about Rs 2 crore in Kawardha and the police were tracking him.

He said Durg Police was also keeping an eye on him as he had been indulging in big thefts in different parts of the country.

“We had been keeping a close eye. When we got to know about Rs 25 crore Delhi theft case, we started keeping an eye on him and coordinated with Delhi Police,” Dhruv said.

Bilaspur SP Santosh Singh said a raid was conducted in Durg in which a person has been arrested.

“Raid was conducted in Durg in which one person has been arrested. Seven-eight cases of robbery are lodged against him in the Bilaspur Police Station,” he said.

He said an accomplice of the accused was held from Kawardha and recovery worth Rs 23 lakh including jewellery and cash was recovered.

The police official said Rs 12.50 lakh in cash and over 18kg of gold and diamonds have been seized from the accused which also include items robbed from a jewellery shop in Delhi (in Bhogal).

Singh said the Delhi Police team had also reached the place.

The official said an inter-state gang was involved and there could be information about more cases.

Delhi Police had said it was a “big incident of burglary” and that they were conducting an investigation.

Sanjeev Jain,  owner of the jewellery shop in the Bhogal area which was burgled, had told ANI that they closed the shop on Sunday and when they opened it on Tuesday there was a lot of dust in the entire shop.   He said the CCTV camera had been damaged.

“We closed the shop on Sunday and when we opened it on Tuesday after an off on Monday, we saw that there was dust in the whole shop and there was a hole in the wall of the strong room… We think they (thieves) have looted everything. There was jewellery worth around Rs 20-25 crore. They entered from the terrace. Everything is damaged including CCTV. An investigation is underway,” he said.

The visuals from the spot showed a big hole in the wall along the staircase.

MP: Toll plaza manager and workers arrested after Morena district collector’s car got stuck in traffic jam

0

On Tuesday, Morena district collector Ankit Asthana was going from Gwalior to Morena, however, at the Choundha toll plaza near Morena there was a traffic jam. DC Asthana’s vehicle was also stuck in the jam causing a ten-fifteen minute delay. Reportedly, this did not go well with the officer and he called Morena SP Shailendra Singh.

Subsequently, SP Singh deployed a team of officials from the Civil Lines Police Station and got the toll plaza manager Samarth Garg and five other workers arrested. The arrested toll plaza workers were booked for “disrupting peace”. On Wednesday, the arrested persons were produced before the SDM’s court where they were released on bail.

Speaking to AajTak, Choundha toll plaza manager Samarth Garg said that as there was a long queue of vehicles on Tuesday night, DC Asthana was stuck in a traffic jam for nearly ten minutes as there is no separate lane for VIPs and government officers. Due to this, Garg added that Asthana called the police and got him and other toll tax barrier staffers arrested.

Meanwhile, Civil Lines police station TI Veeresh Kushwaha said that DC Asthana had called the police when toll plaza staffers and a truck driver were having an argument over toll tax.

Speaking to The Lallantop, Morena DC Ankit Asthana said that on Tuesday night, he was heading back to Morena when he came across the toll plaza in question adding that it comes under his municipal limits. DC Asthana said that over the last seven to eight months there were a lot of complaints about traffic jams at the Choundha toll plaza.

“We were reviewing that despite the FASTag system the lanes were not getting cleared so that we could regulate the movement of ambulances and small vehicles,” the Morena DC said adding that most referral cases in Morena are sent to Gwalior Medical College.

Ankit Asthana also said that on the night of the incident, several vehicles were stuck in the jam for over forty minutes despite paying the toll fee. This, according to the Morena DC, prompted him to call the police.

Pakistan: At least 52 people killed and dozens injured in suicide bomb blast near Eid Miladun Nabi procession in Balochistan

At least 52 people have been killed and dozens others have been injured in a bomb blast in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday. One police officer also died in the blast. Mastung Assistant Commissioner (AC) Attahul Munim told Dawn newspaper that the explosion took place near an Eid Miladun Nabi rally near Madina Masjid at Alfalah Road.

However, the number of deaths and injuries can go up as more reports from the blast site emerge, as it has been described as a major blast. Abdul Rasheed, a district health official, said at least 52 people had died in the blast and 58 others were wounded.

The blast took place when a large number of people had assembled in front of the mosque for the Eid Miladun Nabi procession. It is notable that Eid Miladun Nabi is the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad.

The blast took place near the car of Mastung Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaz Gishkori, who was to remain on the sidelines of the procession. Nawaz Gishkori is among the deceased. City Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Javed Lehri said that it was a suicide bomb blast and that the bomber exploded himself next to DSP Gishkori’s car.

Videos and photos from the blast site that appeared on social media show a number of bloodied corpses and what looked like severed limbs strewn about.

Officials said that rescue teams have been dispatched to Mastung, and critically injured persons are being transferred to Quetta. Balochistan interim Information Minister Jan Achakzai said that an emergency has been imposed in all the hospitals in the region.

“The enemy wants to destroy religious tolerance and peace in Balochistan with foreign blessings,” Achakzai said.

Officials in Balochistan have declared a state of emergency. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

This is the second major blast that has terrorised Mastung over the last 15 days. Earlier this month, as many as 11 people including Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah were injured in a blast in Balochistan’s Mastung district. Mobile phone footage broadcast on television showed a bloodied Hamdullah being supported by two gunmen as he spoke.

Mastung Assistant Commissioner Attaul Muneem told Dawn that 11 people had been injured in the incident.

Earlier, a Frontier Constabulary (FC) official was killed and eight others, including two civilians, were injured in a blast in Pakistan’s Peshawar.

The blast took place near Prime Hospital Complex on Warsak Road, Warsak Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Arshad Khan confirmed that a vehicle of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FC’s Mohmand Rifles regiment was targeted in the attack at around 10:30 am (local time).

The vehicle was heading from Machni to Peshawar when the blast took place, he said. Mohammad Arshad Khan said that one Frontier Constabulary (FC) official was killed and six FC officials and two people were also injured, Dawn reported.

ISKCON sends ₹100 crore defamation notice to BJP MP Maneka Gandhi over her ‘ISKCON sells non-dairy cows to butchers’ comment

Maneka Gandhi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has received a Rs 100 crore defamation notice from the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) for her remarks disparaging the spiritual organization. The notification was given two days after Gandhi said that ISKCON is the “biggest cheat” in the nation, alleging that it is selling cows to butchers from its gaushalas (cowsheds).

ISKCON had refuted the allegations, saying that it does not sell the animals. Now announcing the defamation suit, the organisation issued a statement describing the accusations as “unfounded” and expressed its “deep pain” at the “defamatory, slanderous, and malicious accusations” made by the BJP leader.

“Today we have sent a Rs 100 crore defamation notice to Maneka Gandhi for levelling completely unfounded allegations against ISKCON. The worldwide community of ISKCON devotees, supporters, and well-wishers are deeply pained by these defamatory, slanderous, and malicious accusations. We will not leave any stone unturned in our pursuit of justice against the fallacious propaganda against ISKCON,” Radharamn Das, Vice-President of ISKCON Kolkata said.

The legal notice also added that there is no record of Maneka Gandhi visiting the Anantpur gaushala of ISKCON in Andhra Pradesh. It said that she made the comments to deliberately malign the reputation of the organisation. The legal notice asked Maneka Gandhi to withdraw the remarks unconditionally and express regret, to cease and desist from making such comments in future, and to issue an unconditional apology and publish the same in all leading newspapers and social media platforms.

If Maneka Gandhi fails to take these steps, ISKCON will initiate legal measures for the ₹100 crore defamation suit, the notice added.

Gandhi, a former union minister and proponent of animal rights, has been outspoken on social media about concerns relating to animal care. In her recent video which went viral over the internet, she had claimed that a Gaushala run by ISKCON keeps only milch cows, and sells bulls and calves to butchers.

In the video, Gandhi could be heard saying, “They establish gaushalas and get benefits from the government to run these gaushalas. And they get huge land for that. I visited their Anantpur gaushala. Not a single dry cow was present. All were dairies. No calf was there either which means all cows were sold. So ISKCON is selling their cows to butchers. No one else does as much as they (ISKCON) do. And they do ‘hare ram hare krishna’ on the roads. They also say their life is dependent on doodh, doodh, doodh, doodh. No one has sold as many cows to butchers as ISKCON did. If these people can do it, what about the others?”

Immediately after the video went viral, ISKCON issued a statement and said that the allegations put forth by Gandhi were baseless. “ISKCON has been at the forefront of cow and bull protection and care not just in India but globally. The cows and bulls are served for their life not sold to butchers as alleged. ISKCON has pioneered cow protection in many parts of the world where beef is a staple diet. Within India, ISKCON runs more than 60 gaushalas protecting hundreds of sacred cows and bulls and providing personalised care for their entire lifetime. Many of the cows presently served in ISCKON’s goshalas were brought to us after being found abandoned, injured, or rescued from being slaughtered,” the statement read.

“In recent times, ISKCON has begun training programs for the farmers and rural households on cow care techniques to help revive the culture of cow worship and care as was the case in previous generations. Several ISKCON Goshalas are recognized and lauded for their high cow-care standards by the Government of Association of Goshalas. Smt. Gandhi is a well-known animal rights activist and well-wisher of ISKCON hence we are surprised by these statements,” ISKCON added.

The defamation notice issued by ISKCON says that comments made by Gandhi have caused severe damage to its reputation and that the allegations leveled by Gandhi are false. The notice demands Gandhi withdraw her statements and issue an unconditional apology. “We will not leave any stone unturned in our pursuit of justice against the fallacious propaganda against ISKCON,” Vice President and Spokesperson of ISKCON, Radharaman Das said.

In the meanwhile, BJP leader Tejinder Pall Singh Bagga visited a Gaushala of ISKCON in Vrindaban and did a live video from there, showing that the Gaushala has calves and bulls, contrary to the claims made by fellow party leader Maneka Gandhi.

Attack on another Hindu procession in Gujarat: Muslim mob pelts stones at Bajrang Dal’s Shaurya Yatra in Selamba, several shops torched

On 29th September 2023, an incident of stone-pelting and arson occurred during a Shaurya Yatra organised by Hindu organisations in the Selamba area of Gujarat’s Narmada district. As the yatra procession was passing through, a group of individuals from the Muslim community reportedly rushed in and began hurling stones. Simultaneously, arson also took place wherein a few shops were torched.

The Shaurya Jagran Yatra, which was organised by the Bajrang Dal, commenced in Kuida village. It was supposed to be completed in Selamba. While the yatra was in progress through Selamba, an episode transpired where stones were thrown at the procession in an area predominantly inhabited by Muslims. Video footage of the incident has emerged, capturing the sight of a mob of Muslims pelting stones at the Shaurya Yatra. Notably, one of the videos depicts stones being hurled from the vicinity of a mosque.

As soon as the Shaurya Yatra came under attack, police teams rapidly arrived at the scene to take control of the situation. In response to the stone pelting, teargas shells were reportedly used by police. Additionally, it was noted that some shops were set ablaze during the incident.

At present, teams from the Narmada Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Special Operations Group (SOG) have been deployed in Selamba, and police officers, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP), have also reached the spot. It is being reported that there is peace prevailing currently, and a substantial police deployment has been established in the area.

This is the second incident of stone pelting on a Hindu procession in Gujarat within a fortnight. On September 15, on the last day of the auspicious month of Shravan, a Lord Shiva procession came under brutal attack in the Thasra area in the Kheda district in Gujarat. Stones were pelted from a Madarsa when the Hindu devotees were taking out the procession from the area. Vijaydasji Maharaj, the organiser of the “Shivji ki savari” yatra, said that the attack appeared to be pre-planned.

SIT officers sent to Kolkata police for inquiry, witnesses sent to judicial custody: Calcutta HC orders transfer of judge hindering WB SSC scam case

On Wednesday, September 27, the Calcutta High Court directed West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak to immediately effect the pending transfer of Alipore Special CBI Judge Arpan Chatterjee. The scathing observation was made by a single-judge bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay after CBI DIG and SIT head Ashwin Shenvi submitted before the court that SIT members investigating the West Bengal SSC recruitment scam were being sent for inquiry to the Kolkata police by the said judge.

The court was also informed that Alipore Special CBI Judge Arpan Chatterjee, who was hearing the case, had refused to recognize the witnesses in the case as witnesses and had remanded them to judicial custody, where they complained of custodial torture.

Expressing disappointment at the conduct of the special CBI judge, Calcutta High Court judge Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay observed, “I am told by the Head of SIT that he is being harassed by Kolkata Police as of now in respect of a complaint made by an accused and subsequent order of Judge, CBI special court. I castigate such an order passed by the said CBI Judge. Such a Judge has no business to send the SIT to Kolkata Police for inquiry. Both the police authorities and such Judges should keep in mind that as this SIT has been constituted by this court, they have no business to send the officers of SIT for inquiry to such police authority. Zero tolerance to corruption should be there in letter and spirit and it should not remain only a slogan in the mouth of the most corrupt persons.”

It may be noted that the submissions were made by CBI DIG and SIT head Ashwin Shenvi when he was asked by the Calcutta High Court to explain why the investigation into the WB SSC recruiting scam was taking so long.

Shenvi responded that the SIT probe was being impeded due to the orders being passed by the Special CBI judge, who was not only sending members of the SIT to the Kolkata Police for inquiry but was also ordering the arrest of people identified by the CBI as witnesses, resulting in vital evidence not being recorded.

After hearing the submissions made by Ashwin Shenvi, the Calcutta HC judge Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government and directed all authorities under her not to make or entertain any complaint against the head of the SIT or any member of the SIT constituted by this court without the permission of this court.

During the hearing, it was noted that the special CBI judge had a pending transfer order that had not yet been cleared, prompting the bench to inquire as to why the transfer order had not been carried out.

“Whose hand is on the head of the current CBI Judge (acting) for whom no transfer of a new inequivalent has been made?” the HC Judge lambasted the state government, directing it to make sure that the transfer process is completed by October 4, 2023. He added that the CBI judge in question should not be allowed to take up any CBI or ED-related matters till then.

Later that evening, however, West Bengal Law Minister Moloy Ghatak appeared before the Calcutta High Court and stated that due to his ill health, he was unable to clear the transfer of the Special CBI judge in question and that it would be completed by December 6th, 2023.

Calcutta HC cancels recruitment of 36000 teachers in WB over irregularities

It may be recalled that in May this year, the same Calcutta HC bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay had ordered the cancellation of jobs of 36,000 illegally appointed untrained primary school teachers in state-run schools over the SSC recruitment scam.

The court cancelled the jobs saying that they were procured illegally adopting unfair means. A total of 42,500 primary teachers were recruited through the recruitment process in 2016 following the 2014 TET. The court found that many of them didn’t clear the TET exam and didn’t undergo training, and therefore the recruitment of 36,000 teachers has been cancelled by the court.

This is the fourth order of sacking of teachers by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay so far. Prior to this, many candidates faced termination of services in the state. However, this is the largest number of job cancellations so far in the teacher recruitment corruption case.

What is the Bengal Teacher SSC recruitment scam?

The West Bengal Teacher’s recruitment scam, more commonly referred to as the SSC scam, looks into the recruitment process conducted through the State Level Selection Test (SLT) conducted by SSC from 2014 to 2016.

The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) announced in 2014 that teachers would be hired at state-run schools in West Bengal through the State Level Selection Test (SLST), which is when the alleged scam first surfaced. In 2016, the hiring process got underway. At that time, Partha Chatterjee was the Minister-in-Charge of the West Bengal Department of Higher Education and School Education. Nevertheless, a number of complaints were submitted to the Calcutta High Court citing irregularities in the hiring procedure.

The petitioners alleged that many examinees who got lesser marks ranked high on the merit list. Several claims also surfaced regarding the receipt of appointment letters by some applicants who weren’t even on the merit list.

In May this year, the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) filed an FIR against West Bengal Education Minister Paresh Adhikari and his daughter Ankita Adhikari.

In the same month, CBI also quizzed Partha Chatterjee as the alleged recruitment scam had taken place when he was the education minister.

Later, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also joined the CBI to jointly investigate the scam. While the CBI is probing the criminal aspect of the recruitment scam, the ED is investigating the money laundering aspects.

As a part of the inquiry into the money laundering aspect of the SSC recruiting scandal, ED, in July last year, raided Partha Chatterjee’s premises and arrested him for swindling money worth crores in the form of bribes taken during his tenure as the state education minister. Several TMC ministers have since then been arrested for their alleged involvement in the multi-crore scam.

‘No beef to eat’: Pakistan media laments over food options available to the cash-strapped nation’s cricket team during World Cup

While the Pakistani players were welcomed warmly and offered hospitality that their home country could only dream of, Cricket Pakistan, a Pakistani sports news website, published an article about how the Pakistani players are meeting their daily protein requirements given the “unavailability” of beef in India.

The article titled World Cup 2023: Pakistan team’s diverse food menu revealed, read: In a country where beef is not available for all the participating teams, Pakistan has devised a diverse menu to meet their daily protein requirements, relying on chicken, mutton, and fish.”

Taking to X, Cricket Pakistan posted, “With beef not available to all the 10 participating teams in India, Pakistan team’s diet chart is made up of a diverse menu to meet their daily protein requirements.”

The audacity of the Pakistani media outlet to subtly mock the cow-worshipping Hindu majority of India and assert that Pakistani players mostly rely on beef to meet their daily protein requirements is amusing, given how recently the country was struggling for even basic food items like wheat flour due to a food crisis and inflation. Several cases of violence during food distribution drives were also reported, with Pakistani “awam” battling to obtain a bag of flour rather than beef.

One wonders if the Pakistan Cricket Board can afford even beef without the money obtained from begging before the IMF and China.

In response to Cricket Pakistan’s said X post, the Indian netizens dropped hilarious comments giving a reality check to the delusional Pakistani media outlet.

An X user wrote, “Respect the culture of a country you’re visiting. Did you guys serve pork to England, Australia or the New Zealand cricket team when they visited you??? Obvs NO. So what all this drama for?? You guys acting like these players are prince of England royal family or something. Few days ago they was struggling to get paid from PCB & even getting low rate match fees. They just received a welcome yesterday & today their media thinks they are some superstars. If someone is giving your players respect learn to digest it.”

Another one wrote, “Who is handling this account? Can’t even respect the culture of a country that indirectly taunting it and mentioning it.”

One “Dr. Liberal” advised Cricket Pakistan to be “thankful to Allah that they are getting good food in India, otherwise in Pakistan, they would not even get Rotis.”

Another X user wrote, “Man, I swear, most of us do not even want y’all to come here.”

Meanwhile, a Pakistani netizen taunted the media outlet for its disgraceful journalism and wrote, “Amazing sports journalism. Next topic, Babar chai mein kitni sugar leta hai?”

One Devi Prasad Rao wrote, “Disrespecting the sentiments of others, including your unnecessarily gracious hosts, comes naturally to Pakistanis! In fond remembrance of @TarekFatah “How does one nation produce so many rectums?”

While many Indian netizens took a “pork” jibe at the Pakistani media, one Prashant Jaiswal shared a Pakistani media report about Arab countries asking Pakistan not to send beggars disguised as pilgrims as 90% of beggars caught are Pakistanis.

Notably, while India offered a warm welcome to the Pakistani cricket team, PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf insinuated that India is a “dusman Mulk” (enemy nation) during a media interaction on Thursday. “Mera maksad ye hi hai ki hamaare players ka morale up rehna chahiye, jab ye dushman mulk me khelne jaaye, ya kahi bhi jaaye jaha competition ho raha hai. (I just want my players to be in high morale when they are in the enemy nation, or anywhere in the world, to take part in the competition),” the PCB chairman said.

Pakistan’s World Cup participation has been fraught with complications. After months of uncertainty, the team gained permission from the government to fly to India. This scenario was worsened further by India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for this year’s Asia Cup. Despite the fact that former PCB chairman Najam Sethi ‘threatened’ not to send the Pakistani squad to India for the World Cup, their players are here.

Notably, Pakistan will play the Netherlands in the opening match on October 6 in Hyderabad. The World Cup commences with defending champion England facing off against New Zealand, the last edition’s runner-up, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India will embark on their World Cup campaign against the five-time winners Australia on October 8 at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In this year’s event, a total of 10 teams are participating. Each team will compete against all others, and the top four teams will progress to the semi-finals.

West Bengal: Charred body of Bangladeshi woman found in North 24 Parganas, accused Nasher Mills arrested

On Tuesday (September 26), the charred body of a woman was discovered in the Gobindapur area in Swaranpur in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

As per a report by India Today, the victim was identified as Somayya Akhtar Briahti. Originally from Dhaka in Bangladesh, she used to work at a beauty parlour in Mumbai.

The partially burnt body of the woman was found by locals when they went out to pluck flowers in the nearby field. Reportedly, her hands were tied to a stick with ropes and a scarf was placed on her face before setting the body on fire.

In a disturbing video that went viral on social media, the charred body of the victim could be seen lying on the field. The victim was covered in a pool of blood while smoke was seen emitting from her completely burnt face.

On receiving information about the matter, the police reached the crime spot and sent the body for autopsy. The incident created an atmosphere of fear among the local residents.

According to India Today, the police conducted a probe into the matter and arrested an accused named Nasher Mills in connection to the case. The man has confessed to the murder of Somayya Akhtar Briahti.

In a tweet, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya said, “This is the situation of law and order in West Bengal. Tied-up body of a young woman with her throat slit and face charred beyond recognition, was found in a pool of blood from an orchard close to the India-Bangladesh border in North 24-Parganas.”

“But Mamata Banerjee won’t utter a word. It won’t be a surprise if criminals, patronised by the TMC, involved in women trafficking, are behind this. But then it would mean a silent burial to the tragic death,” he added.

Will Rahul Gandhi, who is quick to shed crocodile tears, when politically expedient, castigate Mamata Banerjee for failing to protect women in West Bengal? Or compulsion of “I.N.D.I Alliance” will come in the way?” Malviya further inquired.

Rajasthan: Half-burned body of a woman found on the streets near Jaipur, BJP slams Congress raising concern over woman safety

0

In another shocking incident of crime against women in Rajasthan, a half-burned body of a woman has been found near Jaipur with the police and the locals suspecting that she might have been assaulted and then burned to death. The incident happened in the Papar village of the Kanota Thana rural area in Jaipur’s Jamwa Ramgarh.

According to police, the incident came to light after some of the locals discovered the charred body of a woman and informed the police. The police and the forensic experts immediately reached the spot and began the investigation of the case.

Bassi ACP Phoolchand Meena said the half-burnt body was spotted by locals, and when police were informed, a police team reached the area and recovered the body. A forensics team accompanying them collected evidence from the spot. He said that the age of the woman is around 25 years old.

“Villagers informed the Police about the burnt body of a woman this morning. We reached the spot and questioned the people in the vicinity. Nobody has been identified yet. The woman is around 25 years old…Strict action will be taken against the accused at the earliest,” ACP Meena told ANI.

A murder case has been lodged in the matter, and efforts are underway to identify the woman and nab the accused, the ACP added. The police suspect that the woman was burned after murdering her to conceal her identity.

The BJP took cognizance of the event and slammed the Congress-led government in the state for failing to protect the dignity of a woman. BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla commented on the issue and expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“In Jaipur, Jamwa Ramgarh, the burnt corpse of a woman has been found in broad daylight. The situation of law and order in Rajasthan has reached rock bottom. This has become a norm in Rajasthan. Such kind of atrocities on women are happening on a daily basis. Rajasthan has become number one in women’s atrocities. Just days ago in Sikar, a young minor girl was gang-raped, killed, and put into the well. In Hanumangarh, a rape survivor committed suicide because the police did not support her. In Pratapgarh, a woman was stripped naked and paraded,” he said while talking to the media.

He also launched an attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for issuing fake promises of protecting women. “We are witnessing the manner in which Rajasthan has become the number one state in terms of women’s atrocities. It is happening because the Chief Minister says most of the rape cases are fake, and their cabinet minister says if you are a woman in Rajasthan, you will get raped as it is ‘mardo ka Pradesh (a state dominated by men). But not a single word from Rahul and Priyanka. This shows the hypocrisy and double standards,” he added.

The state of Rajasthan has seen several rape cases in the past few months. Recently, on September 26, a 15-year-old minor girl was murdered after being gang-raped. Her dead body was later thrown into the well. The incident took place in Ramgarh market, Sikar where the 15-year-old girl, originally from Churu district, was staying at her maternal home for studies.

Also, one accused identified as Moin Khan, a resident of Jalupura entrapped a young woman and two minor girls of age 14 and 17 respectively. He kept them hostage and raped them. He also took money from his friends who proceeded to sexually assault the 14-year-old. She was held captive by him for around a month.

On September 3, a minor girl was gang-raped and then burnt alive by 11 persons identified by the Police. The 14-year-old was gang-raped and set ablaze on August 3 at Koatri in Bhilwara, now part of the Shahpura district. The list of the accused included two minors.

Notably, it was reported last year, that the state of Rajasthan recorded the highest number of rape cases in the country. As per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, the state of Rajasthan recorded 6,337 rapes in the year 2021 followed by Madhya Pradesh (2,947), Uttar Pradesh (2,845), and Maharashtra (2,496). Rajasthan also reported an increase in crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

However, this comes a day after a horrific case of rape of a minor was reported from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The 12-year-old girl was raped in Ujjain and was roaming in the city seeking help from the locals. She had injuries on her private parts and was scared. She was rescued by one of the Hindu priests who later informed the police about the incident. The Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Kamal Nath, and several other Congress supporters slammed the BJP for allegedly failing to protect the dignity of the women in Madhya Pradesh.

“(Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji is traveling from place to place showing the dream of women’s reservation and trying to garner applause. The reality is that a very painful incident of brutality has come to light against a 12-year-old minor from BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh,” Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X, formerly Twitter.

“There is no justice, no law and order, and no rights – today, the entire country is ashamed of the condition of the daughters of Madhya Pradesh. But the chief minister of the state and the Prime Minister of the country have no shame at all – they have suppressed the screams of their daughters amidst election speeches, hollow promises and false slogans,” Rahul Gandhi said.

However, neither of the three had commented on the burnt body of the woman found on the streets of Jaipur till the writing of this report.
