‘Society was suffering under the tyrannical Mughal era, Sant Ravidas created awakening’: PM Modi while laying the foundation stone of Temple in MP

0

On Saturday, August 12, PM Narendra Modi performed Bhumi Pujan and laid the foundation stone of a Temple-cum Museum dedicated to the 16th-century Bhakti saint, Sant Shiromani Gurudev Shri Ravidas ji at the Badtuma village of Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh. The temple cum museum will be built in Nagar style on 11.21 acres of land at more than Rs 100 crores.

PM Modi performed Bhumi Pujan on Saturday in the presence of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan Governor Mangubhai Patel, Union Minister Virendra Kumar and many other saints. He Modi bowed down before the idol of Sant Ravidas with folded hands to seek blessings after which the prime minister inspected the miniature model of the upcoming memorial-cum-temple at this function. He then addressed a public programme at Dhana in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh.

Notably, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had taken to the microblogging site X (formally Twitter) on August 11, 2023, to share a video showcasing the miniature model of the upcoming memorial cum temple dedicated to Sant Ravidas, being built in the state.

After laying the foundation stone of the temple cum museum, PM Modi said, “The foundation for the temple is being laid today when the country has completed 75 years of Independence. Sant Ravidas was born at a time when the Mughal dynasty was ruling the country, and he had fought for educating the people at that time. Being the MP of Kashi (Banaras), I am happy that I got the opportunity to lay the foundation for the temple in Sagar today.”

“Sant Shiromani Gurudev Shri Ravidas ji Memorial will have grandeur as well as divinity which will flow from the teaching of Sant Ravidas ji,” the prime minister further said.

PM Modi added that the soil from thousands of villages and water from more than 300 rivers became part of Sant Ravidas’ upcoming temple-cum-memorial. “The memorial is steeped in the spirit of ‘Samrasta’ as the soil of more than 20,000 villages and 300 rivers have been used in it. Families from Madhya Pradesh have sent grain for ‘Samrast Bhoj’ and five yatras also concluded here at Sagar. These yatras mark a new era of social harmony,” PM Modi said,

Assuring that the temple will be completed in one and a half years Modi said he knows that with the blessing of Sant Ravidas, he will come to inaugurate it as well. “With blessings of Sant Ravidasji, will come to inaugurate the temple as well,” he said.

PM Modi further spoke about the teachings of Sant Ravidasji. He said, “The emergence of evils in society is a natural occurrence. It is the strength of Indian society that a Sant or a Mahatma like Ravidas ji emerges time and again to ward off such evils. Sant Ravidas was born in the Mughal era of instability, excesses and atrocity; he created an awakening against social evils.”

“Sant Ravidas ji was raising his voice against malpractices prevalent in the society. The Sant said dependency is the biggest sin and that those who accept it and do not take a stand against it are not loved by anybody. Sant Ravidas ji provided strength to the society to fight oppression, and Chhatrapati Shivaji used it as an inspiration to lay the foundations of Swarajya,” Modi added.

“Today, the nation is moving forward with the same spirit of liberation and rejecting the mentality of slavery,” he added.

Talking about the inspiration drawn from the Bhakti Saint, the PM said, “I know the pain of hunger and self-respect of the poor. I am a member of your family and I don’t need to look into the books to understand your pain. Free ration was ensured for more than 80 million people under Pradhanmantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana during the pandemic to support my family members.”

Further explaining how so many schemes have been launched by the BJP government to improve the lives of Dalits, the poor, tribals and women at every stage of life, Modi added, “Matru Vandana Yojana, Mission Indradhanush, Sickle Cell Anaemia elimination, a campaign to free India from Tuberculosis by 2025, Ayushman Card and others schemes have changed the lives of people.”

He said that the Standup India program and MUDRA loans were benefiting Dalits and the impoverished the most.

He referenced the 400-acre Lakha Banjara Lake and claimed that as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Dalit villages, underdeveloped regions, and tribal areas are receiving piped water.

“Neither the members of this society nor their past are weak. These societal segments have produced some great characters. The country is proudly preserving their legacy, Modi said, citing the beautification of the temple at Sant Ravidas ji’s birthplace in Banaras, the construction of the Sant Ravidas-named Global Skill Park in Bhopal’s Govindpura, the designation of significant locations associated with Baba Saheb’s life as Panch-Teerth, and the establishment of museums in numerous states to preserve their cultural legacies.

According to the prime minister, numerous states around the nation are currently building museums to preserve the illustrious past of tribal life. The nation has also begun the custom of observing Lord Birsa Munda’s birthday as Tribal Pride Day, he added.

According to officials, this temple-cum-memorial dedicated to Sant Ravidas will be spread over 11 acres of land. The building will display Sant Ravidas’ teachings and include residential accommodations for his followers in addition to a museum, an art gallery, and other features.

Notably, besides laying the foundation stones of the Sant Ravidas temple cum museum, PM Modi, during his visit to the state, also laid the foundation stones of various road projects and dedicated to the nation the doubling of the Bina-Kota railway line project.

Media reports claim doctors ‘must’ prescribe generic drugs or face punishment: Read how it is misleading

On 3rd August, National Medical Commission (NMC) issued new guidelines for Registered Medical Practitioners (doctors) via a gazette notification. The new guidelines, titled “National Medical Commission Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2023”, talk about prescribing drugs, emphasis on generic drugs, social media guidelines for doctors, refusal of treatment, prohibition on receiving perks and gifts from pharmaceutical companies and more.

Notable, NMC is a commission constituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of the Government of India in September 2020 to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI). The commission is affiliated with the MoHFW.

News agency Press Trust of India (PTI), Economic Times and The Indian Express published reports about the new guidelines suggesting that the NMC has made it ‘mandatory’ for doctors to prescribe generic medicines.

In its post on X (formerly Twitter), PTI wrote, “All doctors must prescribe generic drugs, failing which they will be penalized and even their license to practice may also be suspended for a period, say NMC new regulations.”

Other media houses, including NDTV, Economic Times, The Indian Express, The Print and others, used a similar language. Their reports read, “All doctors must prescribe generic drugs, failing which they will be penalized and even their license to practice may also be suspended for a period, according to the new regulations issued by the National Medical Commission.”

OpIndia accessed the gazette notification of NMC dated 3rd August. Section 8 under Chapter 1 (Professional Conduct of RMPs) of the guidelines discusses ‘Prescribing Generic Medicine’. The guideline reads, “Every RMP should prescribe drugs using generic names written legibly and prescribe drugs rationally, avoiding unnecessary medications and irrational fixed-dose combination tablets.” Notably, the guidelines are not forcing doctors to prescribe only generic medicines but encouraging them to do so. PDF of the guidelines can be checked here.

Source: Excerpt from NMC gazette notification.

Furthermore, under Section 12(B), the guidelines encouraged RMPs and pharmacies to state the drug’s generic name explicitly. Again, the guidelines used the phrase “should explicitly,” meaning the specific guidelines are not forced but suggested.

Why generic drugs?

In the guidelines, NMC said that the major portion of public health care spending is medication. Generic medicines being 30 per cent to 80 per cent cheaper than branded drugs, have the potential to bring down the overall healthcare cost.

Now coming to the specific guidelines under “Guidelines I” to RMPs on generic medicines and prescription guidelines. The guidelines point out that the RMPs should prescribe drugs with generic/nonproprietary/pharmacological names of the drugs. For example, if the doctor wants to prescribe Paracetamol/acetaminophen 650 mg, then rather than writing Dolo 650, the doctor should write Paracetamol 650mg on the prescription.

Source: Excerpt from NMC gazette notification.

Regarding pricing, Paracetamol 650mg at a Jan Aushadi Kendra will cost Rs 15. On the other hand, Dolo 650 costs Rs 33, almost double the price. Similarly, Chlorzoxazone 500mg, Diclofenac 50mg and Paracetamol 325mg Tablets prescribed as painkillers and muscle relaxants cost around Rs 25 at Jan Aushadi Kendra. Still, depending on the pharmaceutical company, the branded strip may cost anywhere between Rs 45 to Rs 300. Glimepiride (2mg) + Metformin (500mg) + Pioglitazone (15mg) tablets prescribed for controlling blood sugar cost Rs 36 for 15 tablets at a generic medicine outlet. However, a branded strip of 15 tablets may cost Rs 250 or more. (Prices of the medicines as per 1mg.com and janaushadhi.gov.in)

The guidelines further recommend avoiding prescribing “branded” generic drugs. Notably, in the case of drugs with a narrow therapeutic index, biosimilars, and similar exceptional cases, the practice of prescribing generic drugs can be relaxed, NMC said in the guidelines.

No ‘highest level of commitment and obligation’ to prescribe generic medicines

The guidelines urged the RMPs to encourage patients to buy medicines from Jan Aushadi Kendras and generic pharmacy outlets. Furthermore, RMPs should educate medical students, patients and the general public regarding the equivalence of generic medicine with their branded counterparts, as per the NMC guidelines.

There is a specific note on the use of the words “must”, “shall/should “, and “may” in the notification. It reads, “The words ‘must’, ‘shall / should’ and ‘may’ are used purposefully in these guidelines and indicate the degree of obligation the doctor has to follow them. The word ‘must’ indicates a higher level of commitment and obligation required of the doctor, while in the case of ‘shall/should’, the level of obligation is less, and there could be room for individual judgment.”

Penalty for not following the guidelines

Under guideline-4, there is a mention of suspension of license for 30 days, three months and a maximum of three years and permanent suspension. However, it does not explicitly mention not prescribing generic medicines might attract such action. However, it categorically says that these penalties “may be awarded when the role of the doctor in causing direct harm was conclusively proved and the doctor was found to have breached relevant regulation.”

The guidelines recommend and urge doctors to prescribe generic medicines. However, “should” is used for prescribing generic medicines, it is NOT indicated as the highest level of commitment and obligation. The media reports on the guidelines are misleading.

Days after Islamist attack, Hindu Mahapanchayat decides to resume Brajmandal Jalabhishek Shobha Yatra on 28 August

The Vishva Hindu Parishad has announced that it will be resuming the religious Brajmandal Jalabhishek Shobha Yatra which came under violent attack by an Islamist mob in Nuh on 31st July. The Yatra will now resume on August 28.

“The Hindu Mahapanchayat during a meeting in Haryana’s Palwal has decided that on 28th August, we will complete the incomplete yatra which fell victim to the genocidal attack by jihadists and terrorists. It is our pledge that those killed by the mob get Rs 1 crore in compensation along with a government job while the injured get Rs 50 lakh,” Alok Bansal, VHP spokesperson said.

The Hindu group has also demanded an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). “100% compensation should be given to the Hindus whose shops, houses, and vehicles were damaged. Along with this, Nuh district, which has been used to conspire and make a hub of jihadi terrorism and a refuge for criminals in the last few decades, should be merged with Palwal and Gurugram,” the VHP has demanded.

A member of the Hindu Mahapanchayat, Ratan Singh said, “Permission (for the yatra) is usually taken before the commencement of such a yatra. Once permission is taken, it becomes the responsibility of the police to guarantee our security.”

A Hindu group had organized a Mahapanchayat in Palwal on 13th August after it was granted permission by the police. The Mahapanchayat was called to discuss the preparations to resume the Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, which was disrupted in Nuh on 31 July after stone-pelting from Islamists led to the violence in different parts of Haryana including Gurugram.

The mega gathering was called by Sarv Hindu Samaj and was originally scheduled to take place in Nuh’s Kira hamlet, but was held in a village on the Palwal border after Nuh authorities denied permission for the event in the riot-affected district due to security concerns.

Islamist attack on 31st July in Nuh

Islamists unleashed mayhem during VHP’s Jalabhishek Yatra on the auspicious Monday (31st July) of the Sharavan month in Haryana’s Nuh district which later spread to various parts of Guragram. A total of 6 people, including 2 Home Guard personnel, were killed in this violence.

OpIndia accessed several FIRs registered in the case. One of the FIRs was registered on the complaint of Exemplee Head Constable (EHC) Rupesh Kumar under Sections 148, 149, 186, 332, 353, 307, 435, 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 25, 54 and 59A of Arms Act. It was registered against Rahish, Farukh, Mohammed Saad, Dilshad, Injmamul, Hashim, Faruq, Arbaaz, and 700-800 unknown rioters.

EHC Rupesh Kumar is posted as CIA Staff, Nuh. In his complaint, EHC Rupesh Kumar said he was posted for duty at Mewat Religious Jalabhishek Yatra on 31st July with CIA Incharge Subhash, PSI Pradeep, constable Manoj, constable Indraraj and SPO Jaan Mohammed.

They were at Khedla Mod Jhanda Chowk with the Yatra when around 700-800 people of one community attacked the vehicles passing by and police personnel intending to kill. They had sticks, batons, stones, and illegal weapons in their hands.

Several Hindu shops and establishments were vandalized and torched, Hindus were attacked and killed, and many were stranded in the Nalhar Shiva Temple in the pre-planned attack.

He isn’t serious, time to move on: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg speaks out on ‘cage fight’ with X(Twitter) owner Elon Musk

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said it’s “time to move on” from the speculation on a cage fight with Elon Musk, whom he said is not serious about it.

Taking to his social media Threads application account, Zuckerberg said, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. | offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

The tension between Zuckerberg and Tesla CEO Musk intensified after the initial success of Meta’s Threads, which is the biggest competitor to X (formerly known as Twitter), social media platform in July. Thread app is similar to the X, the Musk-owned platform, which got 30 million users on its first day.

Earlier, the Tesla CEO claimed that his and Zuckerberg’s fight will be live-streamed on X as well as Meta’s platforms and will likely take place in Italy, the Meta owner dropped a statement on Threads and requested netizens not to buy into whatever Musk says.

“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on,” Zuckerberg wrote. Zuckerberg further said that was not holding his breath for Musk and will share the details of the fight when he is ready.

He added, “Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.”

Musk took notice of Zuckerberg’s post and reacted to it with a series of tweets. “If Zuck my really wants a lesson in why there are weight categories in fighting so badly, I could just head over to his house next week and teach him a lesson he won’t soon forget…Otherwise, we will do it as soon as the arena in Italy is ready,”

Musk wrote.”Or we could do both and consider next week just a practice session,” he added.

Karnataka: Extremist outfit SDPI submits memorandum to police to stop Pushpendra Kulshrestha from entering Bijapur, police reassure them

Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, a group of Islamists associated with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) met the Bijapur police on Sunday (August 13) and submitted a memorandum to cancel the invite of renowned journalist Pushpendra Kulshrestha to the heritage city in Karnataka.

Scientist and political commentator, Anand Ranganathan, shared a video clip of B News Nation wherein an SDPI member was heard confirming the development.

He tweeted, “Scandalous. On what grounds did the Bijapur SP assure these Islamists that Pushpendra Kulshrestha will be stopped from attending his Independence Day event? Are we still in India? Where are all those who cry Death of Democracy at the drop of a hat? I Stand with Pushpendra Kulshrestha.”

In the contentious video posted by B News Nation on Sunday (August 13), an SDPI member was heard saying, “We came here to submit a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (SP) to stop the entry of journalist Pushpendra Kulshrestha to Bjijapur on the Independence Day.”

“He (Pushpendra Kulshrestha) is known to spread venom through his speeches and gives ‘wrong message’ to the public about Islam and its religious teachings. SP (Bijapur) has assured us that Pushpendra Kulshrestha will be stopped from coming to Bijapur,” he emphasised.

The Islamist, associated with the radical Social Democratic Party of India, asserted, “SP (Bijapur) has also promised us that action will be taken if he engages in anti-religious activities.”

While labelling journalists such as Pushpendra Kulshrestha as ‘those who disturb the harmony,’ the SDPI member reiterated that all such individuals should be stopped from entering the city.

He claimed that Bijapur is a city of Sufi saints and the hallmark of ‘religious pluralism.’ The man thanked the Superintendent of Police and the Assistant Superintendent of Police for maintaining law and order by preventing the entry of Pushpendra Kulshrestha into the city.

He also alleged that the journalist did not seek permission from the police and challenged the law enforcement authorities by posting banners of the event across Bijapur.

PFI banned but SDPI continues to operate

In September last year, the Central government banned the Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) and eight of its associates for five years under a stringent anti-terror law, accusing them of having links with global terror organisations, including ISIS.

However, its political affiliate Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was the only organisation of the radical Islamist outfit that was not banned by the Central government.

After being declared illegal on September 24, 2022, the Popular Front of India (PFI) made SDPI a backyard of its erstwhile cadres to continue operations in Karnataka.

In May last year, the Kerala High Court observed that the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) were extremist organisations, which were yet to be banned in India.

“No doubt, SDPI and PFI are extremist organisations indulging in serious acts of violence. All the same, those are not banned organisations,” Justice K Haripal had stated. The Kerala High Court further noted that both SDPI and PFI have a history of attacking members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Indian Express column by Coomi Kapoor publishes fake quote, Bansuri Swaraj denies ever making the statement

On 14th August, Supreme Court lawyer and Delhi BJP secretary Bansuri Swaraj shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the statement attributed to her in the Indian Express column by Coomi Kapoor is false.

Bansuri also added that no such statement was attributed to her in journalist Nidhi Sharma’s book, as Coomi Kapoor’s column claimed.

“The statement attributed to me in the article “Shell Shocked” by Coomi Kapur in Indian Express today is false. No such statement has been attributed to me by author Nidhi Sharma in the chapter of her book referred. Nidhi Sharma is equally surprised by what has been written!”, Swaraj wrote.

Coomi Kapoor’s column in Indian Express makes bizarre claims about Sushma Swaraj

In the column ‘Inside Track’ by Coomi Kapoor in Indian Express dated August 13, a bizarre claim about former External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj was made.

“For instance, Bansuri Swaraj, Sushma Swaraj’s daughter, confirms the popular impression that her mother was shell-shocked when she was dropped from the Cabinet in 2019 without any advance warning. Even when she reached Rashtrapati Bhavan for the swearing-in, Swaraj was still hopeful.”

Indian Express column Inside Track by Coomi Kapoor

Kapoor made the claim and attributed it to Nidhi Sharma’s new book ‘Women in Indian Politics’. As per Bansuri Swaraj, Nidhi Sharma, the author whose book is cited by Coomi Kapoor, is equally shocked by the claim.

Nidhi Sharma’s book ‘She The Leader: Women In Indian Politics’ was launched on August 11. Union Minister Smriti Irani was the chief guest at the event.

Sushma Swaraj’s health and her exclusion from the 2019 Modi 2.0 cabinet

Sushma Swaraj was one of the most popular leaders of the BJP. She was the EAM during the Modi 1.0 government from 2014-19. However, in 2016, she had to take a break from work for several months due to her health condition. She later underwent a kidney transplant at AIIMS in December 2016. Though she joined work later, her health gradually deteriorated.

The former MP from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat had declared that she would not contest the 2019 general elections. Though there were speculations about her deteriorating health and her absence from public life, she had appeared for the oath-taking ceremony of the new ministers in the Modi 2.0 cabinet. She also tweeted congratulating the PM and thanking him for giving her an opportunity to serve the people. The 9-time MP had always been a cabinet minister in all the previous BJP governments.

Sushma Swaraj, a fierce orator, and very popular politician, breathed her last on August 6, 2019. Her last tweet was thanking PM Modi for abrogating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Her choice of words made people gasp in shock as she had stated that she wanted to see that day (abrogation of Article 370) during her lifetime.

How the Left and Opposition tried to politicize the demise of Manohar Parrikar too

this is not the first time the demise of a BJP leader has been used to make false, misleading, and bizarre statements to politicize the incident. Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in the run-up to the 2019 general elections, had lied about former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Speaking at a rally, Gandhi had claimed that Manohar Parrikar had ‘distanced himself’ from the Rafale deal because he was aware that corruption had taken place.

Earlier too, when Manohar Parrikar was critically ill, Rahul Gandhi had dropped in to pay him a visit. Even then Rahul Gandhi had used the occasion to lie about the supposed discussion he had with Parrikar about the Rafale deal. In fact, Parrikar, ailing from a serious disease himself, came out to debunk Gandhi’s false claims of having any discussion on the Rafale deal. In a scathing attack, Parrikar then asserted that stooping so low to make a false statement raises questions about the purpose of Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

A new series on Balakot Airstrike is soon going to stream on Jio Cinema, announces actress Lara Dutta

On Sunday (13 August), Bollywood actress Lara Dutta announced her upcoming series through her official X (Twitter) handle. In the tweet, she unveiled the title of the series and a short 20-second clip, seemingly the teaser of the new series. The series has been titled ‘Ranneeti: Balakot and Beyond’ and it will be based on true events, the actress confirmed.

As the name of the series suggests, it will be based on the airstrike the Indian Airforce had conducted in the Balakot area inside Pakistani territory in response to the dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama area that took place in February 2019.

Taking to X, Lara Dutta wrote, “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond, a new series inspired by true events. Coming soon, stay tuned!”

She also informed that the new series “Ranneeti” will be streaming soon on Jio Cinema.

The 20-second-long clip starts in a mountainous terrain and in a blast, two cars can be seen exploding.

A voiceover states, “Ye ek naya runn he, aur ise jitne ke liye ek nayi ranneeti ki jarurat he. (This is a new battle frontier, and it needs a new strategy to win this battle).” Following the blast, several fighter jets scramble in the air and start dropping missiles. And it is followed by the titular name of the series.

The new series will also feature a stellar star cast in the likes of Ashish Vidyarthi, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ashutosh Rana, Prasanna, Suneel Sinha, Aakanksha Singh, and Sikandar Kharbanda.

On the ill-fated day of 14 February 2019, the CRPF convoy was hit in a gruesome terrorist attack in Awantipora in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir. 12 CRPF bravehearts lost their lives in this terrorist attack. Soon, the Pakistan-backed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the ghastly terrorist attack. It also released a video of the Fidayeen terrorist Adil Ahmed Dar alias Waqas who carried out the suicide attack. The Pulwama terror attack was carried out at the behest and with the support of the Pakistani establishment.

In a swift response to this ghastly terror act, the Indian Airforce conducted “pre-emptive” Airstrikes deep inside Pakistani territory in Balakot on 26 February 2019.

UP: Minor Dalit girl abducted at gun-point, murdered after alleged gang-rape in Sitapur; Shadab, Farooq, Shafi Raza, Latif, Lucky Miyan booked

A minor girl from the Dalit community was murdered after she was allegedly gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district. Following the incident, the victim’s family held 5 men responsible for this heinous crime. Subsequently, on the basis of the family’s complaint, the Police filed a case against all five accused.

The accused have been identified as Shadab, Farooq, Shafi Raza, Latif, and Lucky Miyan. Four of them have been detained, and are being questioned by the police.

In the complaint, the family also alleged that the victim was kidnapped at gunpoint. The Police officials are awaiting the post-mortem report to take further steps in this case. Meanwhile, several Hindu organisations have demanded strict action from the administration in this matter.

According to media reports, the incident took place in the Piswa police station area in the Sitapur district. As per the complaint given by the victim’s family, the incident is said to have taken place on 12 August.

As per the father of the deceased girl, at around 11:30 in the night, his 12-year-old daughter had come out of the house to go to the bathroom. She was then held captive by two accused namely Shadab and Farooq and another accused named Shafi Raza held a gun to her head. They had warned the victim that if she screamed they would kill her. Afterwards, they allegedly abducted the victim.

It is claimed that a woman in the neighbour saw the incident unfold before her eyes and she immediately alarmed the family about the kidnapping incident. Following this, the family members along with others started a search option to find their girl. At around 2 AM, they were horrified when they found the dead body of the victim hanging from a tree and blood was dripping down from it.

On getting information about the incident, Police reached the crime spot and took the body of the deceased girl in their possession, and they reportedly left after that.

The victim’s family have alleged that when the police left the crime spot, the accused arrived there and started threatening the victim’s father.

It is also being claimed that the girl was in a relationship with Shadab, and it was he who had lured her out of the house under some pretext, after which he and his friends gang-raped and killed her.

Sharing the ordeal, the victim’s family stated that the accused hurled casteist slurs at them and bolstered that they can do nothing against them. The victim’s father narrated that the accused said that they raped their daughter and sister and then killed her. They further threatened that they will rape and kill his wife along with their son.

According to the victim’s father, all the accused are henchmen of Lucky Miyan, a district Panchayat representative. In the complaint, the victim’s family has also written that they have been intimidated by the accused.

OpIndia has accessed the FIR copy filed in this case.

Speaking to OpIndia, a local journalist Abhimanyu Singh claimed to have the ground report of this case. Talking to OpIndia, Mahant Bajrang Muni of Sitapur district said that after the initial uproar, the police have assured that strict action would be taken against the culprits.

Informing about the case, the Additional SP of Sitapur stated that some people came to the Qutub Nagar outpost today (13 August), and they appealed to register a case in regard to their complaint. He said the incident occurred in the early hours of 13th August and a minor girl was said to be missing. When police reached the spot, they found a body hanging on a tree and they suspected it to be a case of murder. The senior official added that the post-mortem report has found hanging as the cause of death.

However, he ruled out the claims that the girl was raped, stating that prima facie the report didn’t find evidence of rape.
