Nuh violence: Islamists targeted cyber police station to destroy evidence of cyber crimes. Here is what we know so far

On Saturday (August 5), the police informed that the attack on a cyber police station in the Nuh district of Haryana was pre-planned and aimed at destroying evidence of cyber fraud collected by the cops.

Opindia had earlier reported how Islamists broke inside the cyber police station in Nuh on July 31, 2023, using a hijacked bus. In a targeted attack, the violent mob ransacked and vandalised everything in sight with the ulterior motive of destroying crucial evidence. The Islamists also attempted to burn documents and set the police station on fire.

The Haryana police have now confirmed that the attack on the police station was the first incident in the chain of violence. It must be mentioned that on the intervening night of April 27-28 this year, the cops conducted one of the largest raids to crack down on cybercrime cases in the Nuh district (Mewat region).

During the raid, a total of 5000 police personnel uncovered cyber fraud of a whopping ₹100 crores. The cops cracked down on 320 hideouts of cyber criminals in 14 villages in the Nuh district.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said, “A total of 65 cyber criminals were arrested during raids, with an additional 25 arrests made in the period before and after the raids. Besides this, law enforcement seized a significant number of IT devices, including 66 mobile devices and 5 micro-ATM machines.”

“These devices were likely used in carrying out cybercrimes. Numerous fake documents were exposed, including details of 739 fake SIM cards, 307 fake bank accounts and 199 UPI handles. These fake documents were likely used for illegal activities,” the spokesperson emphasised.

“The criminals attempted to destroy evidence that had been collected during the raids. In the guise of the violence in Nuh district, an attempt was made to destroy the evidence collected during this raid and a planned attack on the cyber police station was executed,” the statement added.

It must be mentioned that the Haryana police have set up 318 cyber helpdesks across 29 cyber police stations in the State.

Nuh Shobha Yatra attack

On July 31, tensions gripped several parts of Haryana when stones were pelted at the Jalabhishek Shobha yatra in the Muslim-majority region of Mewat. The procession was taken out to mark the auspicious occasion of Shravan Somwar.

In several videos of the clashes, a mob charging in a hostile way at the yatris could be heard raising “Allahu Akbar” and indulging in riotous activities.  6 people have been killed so far.

To stop the spread of misinformation and rumours, internet services were suspended in the region. Following the violence at Nuh, VHP president, Alok Kumar issued a video statement urging the police and administration to quickly rescue the devotees stuck at several locations including Nuh temples, chowk, and near the police station. He stressed that the yatra is an annual affair and this year it was targeted in a pre-planned and organised attack

Meanwhile, the Union government deployed 20 companies (about 2000 personnel) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to bring the law and order situation under control. The Haryana government also demolished the illegal shanties of over 200 rioters and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.

It is worth noting that Haryana’s Mewat has been under the spotlight for the last few years for the increase in terror activities, cow smuggling, and forced conversions.

Italian criminal caught after 11 years on the run thanks to a photo celebrating a football win

On Friday, August 5, a longtime fugitive in Italy was arrested after his love for his favourite football team exposed his hiding place. Vincenzo La Porta, who is on the list of Italy’s 100 most dangerous fugitives, was arrested by the police while he was riding a motorbike on the Greek Island of Corfu.

According to the Naples-based Carabinieri paramilitary police, fugitive Vincenzo La Porta was identified in a photo of people celebrating after the Napoli football team won Italian Serie A last season in a restaurant in Corfu. In the said picture, La Porta was waving a scarf with the sky-blue colours of his hometown team on it.

Police subsequently went to Corfu to apprehend the 60-year-old fugitive, who had been on the run for 11 years. The officers intercepted him while he was riding his moped down a Corfu street. He was arrested on Friday, according to Greek police.

“What betrayed him was his passion for football and for Napoli. With the championship victory, La Porta couldn’t resist celebrating,” the Greek police said.

La Porta, who is linked to the Naples-based Camorra group, was convicted in absentia of criminal association, tax evasion, and fraud. La Porta had been working as an assistant chef at another restaurant on the island for about a month, according to the owner.

According to police in Corfu, he appeared before a prosecutor on Saturday and was ordered to be kept in jail until an appeals court panel decided on the extradition request. If Italy’s extradition bid is allowed, La Porta will serve a 14-year-and-four-month jail term.

“He has started a new family in Greece. He has a nine-year-old son and works as a cook to make ends meet. He suffers from heart conditions. He and his family will be destroyed if he is extradited,” La Porta’s lawyer said.

Meanwhile, police said they were persistent in their pursuit of La Porta, closely monitoring his financial and online actions and “waiting for him to make a mistake.”

Jagdish Tytler provoked mob, said not enough Sikhs killed yet: CBI charge sheet in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), currently investigating the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, has made several revelations about the role of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler’s role in its charge sheet. According to the agency’s findings, Congress leader Jagdish Tytler allegedly incited a mob to commit violence resulting in the death of Sikhs near Gurudwara Pul Bangash in Delhi.

The CBI chargesheet quoted a witness as saying that he saw the Congress leader getting out of his car and instigating the mob. The charge sheet says, “Tytler instigated the mob to kill Sikhs, as a result of which the mob set fire to Gurdwara Pul Bangash. On 1st November 1984, three members of the Sikh community were killed there.”

According to the witness, he saw the mob robbing his shop but decided to return as soon as possible. On his way back, he noticed a white Ambassador car on the main road near Gurdwara Pul Bangash. The accused Jagdish Tytler was coming out of this car. Allegedly, Jagdish Tytler instigated the mob to first target Sikhs and then engage in looting. After witnessing this horrifying scene, he hurriedly returned home and sought refuge in his neighbour’s house. There, he saw the charred bodies of Badal Singh and Guru Charan Singh, victims who had been burned using tires. Additionally, the mob had set Gurudwara Pul Bangash on fire.

The chargesheet mentions another witness who saw the mob carrying petrol canisters, swords and sticks. Jagdish Tytler, who was then a Member of Parliament, was also present in front of Gurudwara Pul Bangash. He said the Congress leader was instigating the mob to attack the Gurudwara.

“After seeing this, the passengers on the bus advised him to take off his turban and go back to his home. He quickly stopped an autorickshaw which was on its way to his house. He returned to his home”, says the charge sheet.

Citing the statement of another witness from an affidavit filed before the Justice Nanavati Commission of Inquiry in 2000, the charge sheet states that the witness has said that he saw a group of people standing near the TB Hospital gate (Delhi). Jagdish Tytler came in a car. Scolding the people gathered there, he said that his instructions have not been followed honestly.

The charge sheet adds, “Accused Jagdish Tytler also said that his position has been severely compromised in the eyes of central leaders. He has been looked down upon.” According to the affidavit, accused Jagdish Tytler told the people present there, “There have been nominal killings of Sikhs in my constituency. I had promised to kill Sikhs on a large scale and sought full security. You have cheated on me and disappointed me.”

During the investigation, sufficient evidence emerged that the accused Jagdish Tytler was part of the unlawful assembly that had gathered near Gurudwara Pul Bangash on 1st November 1984. The mob was instigated to kill the Sikhs. This resulted in the Gurudwara being set on fire by a mob and three people from the Sikh community were killed.

A Delhi court on Friday, 4th August 2023, granted anticipatory bail to Jagdish Tytler in the Pul Bangash murder case. Members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) staged a protest outside the Rouse Avenue court on Saturday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had booked Tytler under Indian Penal Code Sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment) read with 302 (murder) for inciting, instigating and provoking the mob of Congress workers. Tyler was issued a summons by the Delhi court on 26th July, 2023.

The probe agency had last month collected voice samples of Jagdish Tytler in connection with the violence in the Pul Bangash area. His name was mentioned in the Nanavati Commission report that probed the riots. However, Tytler has insisted that there is not a single piece of evidence against him.

Jagdish Tytler claimed, “What have I done? If there is evidence against me, I am ready to be hanged. It was not related to the 1984 riots case for which they wanted my voice sample, but it was some other case.” According to reports, his voice samples have been collected at the CBI’s forensic laboratory.

At least 3,000 people were killed in the riots during violent attacks on the Sikh community in the country following the controversial “Operation Blue Star” in 1984 and the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Jagdish Tytler was given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation on three occasions, but the court had asked the agency to investigate the case further.

New York: YouTuber Kai Cenat detained & charged with inciting riots after his PlayStation giveaway in Manhattan turns violent, around 65 arrested

On Friday, the 4th of August, a giveaway event announced by a popular Youtube creator and Twitch (another streaming platform like Youtube) streamer Kai Cenat turned into a stampede and riot-like situation in Manhattan’s Union Square Park. After painstaking efforts, injuries to several Police officers, and countless arrests, the Chief of the Police Department Jeffrey Maddrey addressed the media, late on Friday, about the pandemonium that had taken place hours earlier.

Maddrey informed the media that the popular influencer Kai Cenat was taken into custody and charged with multiple criminal offences including at least two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly.

The Chief officer stated that they were “absolutely” considering filing charges against Cenat. He said, “We have him. We’ll discuss with our legal department about charging him with inciting a riot and other charges.”

According to officials, Kai Cenat has millions of followers on both the popular streaming platforms Twitch and Youtube. He had posted on his social media platforms that on Friday at around 4 PM, he would giveaway many units of PlayStation 5, a video game console by Sony, in Union Square Park in Manhattan. He had asked his followers to attend the “pop-up” event which eventually drew a large crowd on the day of the event.

However, the officials added that the event was spontaneous and hordes of young people gathered there without a city permit. They added that the police only learned about the gathering from a social media post around midday. However, by 3 p.m., he said, “The post had gone viral and the event grew exponentially.”

Calling it a “very dangerous situation”, Maddrey said, “People were suffering out here. It was a lot of people. It was uncontrolled, it took us a while to get it under control and a lot of people got hurt.”

As per the official information, at least three NYPD officers were injured when the event turned violent, and in the aftermath of the so-called pop-up event, police arrested around 65 people

Hours after Kai Cenat announced the giveaway of the much sought-after gaming console, thousands of people gathered in Union Square. After 4 PM, the streamer arrived in a black SUV, standing through the sunroof, which was live-streamed on Twitch. He displayed gift cards of PlayStation 5 that he was giving away, causing the crowd to follow the car. Within minutes, the crowd grew controllably, and it turned into a riot.

Kai Cenat and his team managed to get out of the vehicle, cross a street, and went into the park, after which the live stream was stopped. While the SUV was driving away from the crowd, several people were seen holding into its windows and some people on its roof.

It has been estimated that around 3000 to 5000 people had gathered, and some people said that they heard sounds of gunfire.

The unruly crowd threw firecrackers and construction materials at Police officers

According to the Police, as the announced timing of the giveaway, 4 PM, drew closer, the crow became restless and the Police department had to initiate a Level 4 mobilisation, its highest-level response.

They added that while a large part of the crowd remained peaceful, a large group of young fans started fighting among themselves and vandalised things. Meanwhile, one cluster of fans stormed a construction site nearby and then began hurling building materials, rocks, and bottles at one another. When the police officer carrying riot shields approached them trying to stop and arrest them, they pushed back against the cops and hurled building materials at them.

A mob of around 200 people also chanted abuses against the police. People in the crowd began to “commit acts of violence against the police and the public,” Chief Maddrey said. The crowd was not listening to the police order to maintain order.

While the cops managed to push most of the crowd into Park Avenue, they completely blocked both lanes of the road, stopped traffic, banged on the cars and hurled bottles and other items. The police had to use force to detain youths who refuse to follow orders.

Maddrey said, “You had people walking around with shovels, axes, and other tools of the construction trade.” He added that some unruly fans had been lighting fireworks and tossing them toward officers and one another.

“We have encountered things like this before but never to this level of dangerousness where young people would not listen to our commands. They were fighting each other, they were hurting each other and they were turning their attacks on us. We had to defend ourselves and we had to make arrests,” Maddrey added.

By 6.15, more forces arrived at the scene, and most of the mob was controlled. Hundreds of people were trapped in the area for hours as their vehicles were stuck in the mayhem. Helicopter continued to fly overhead to monitor the situation.

“This speaks to the power of social media, and the danger of social media,” Jeffrey Maddrey said describing the event.

The ruckus was borderline “funny” for Gen-Z followers who also staged a ‘Black Live Matter’ protest when police dispersed them

The Playstation-5 (PS-5) console giveaway announcement was made by Cenat along with his streaming partner Fanum. Cai has 6.5 million followers on the platform Twitch and 4 million subscribers on YouTube. He posts daily life and comedy vlogs ranging from “Fake Hibachi Chef Prank!” to his most recent video, “I Rented Us Girlfriends In Japan!”

Both of them, Canet and Fanum, are members of the streaming group AMP and it has a blind following of Gen-Z kids. His fans while speaking about the horrifying stampede and bursting of firecrackers at police officers and at each other claimed that it lay somewhere between bothersome and “funny”.

Josh Ortiz, one of those present in the crowd, said, “It’s between bothersome and funny. There was a big explosion just a second ago, but if you know, as I do, that it’s just kids with fireworks, then it gets kind of funny.” He added that Kai Cenat is the biggest Black creator in America right now.

Some fans claimed that they were there to get a free Playstation gift card and then earn a fortune like Kai Cenat. While one fan said, “Kai Cenat said pop-out and that’s what the city did. That’s how we show love!” and reportedly there were many more like him.

When the police tried to disperse them to nearby streets, one horde of his fans took a knee and started a “Black Lives Matter” chant at 19th Street. While those who were diverted to other streets stormed the buildings nearby including a CVS store. They looted candy, snacks, and water bottles and distributed them among themselves, and littered the space. Some others snatched the food from those who were dining outside the restaurants.

Chief Officer Maddrey clearly stated that the officers gave the crowd several chances to leave the area before making arrests. However, when they lodged the detainees inside a city bus, a large crowd of young fans attacked the bus and tried to free the unruly ones detained by the police.

65 people were arrested by police for riots, around half of whom are juveniles. The police called a bus to ferry the detainees from the scene. Cenat was also held along with the rioters.

In Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a bloodcurdling incident has come to the fore, putting humanity to shame. Two children were subjected to horrifying cruelty by a group of individuals led by one Saud on suspicion of theft.

As per reports, in response to the suspicion of theft, the poultry farm operator, Saud, took matters into his own hands and apprehended two children, aged 10 and 15, hailing from different villages, and brought them to the farm. There, Saud along with his seven companions, injected petrol into the victims as a form of punishment.

Appallingly, the brutality did not end just there. Unsatisfied with the savagery already inflicted, they forced the teenagers to drink urine and even sprayed chilli powder on their genitals. The video of the barbarity has now gone viral on social media and the internet.

Throughout this harrowing ordeal, the terrified children pleaded for their lives, but the perpetrators showed no mercy and continued to embarrass humanity with their savagery. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. The police filed an FIR after the victims’ parent lodged their complaint and after the video of the two had gone viral on social media. The police have arrested Uzair, Abdul, Rafiullah, Sher Ali, Mohammed Akib, and Deepak. The authorities are actively searching for the remaining two suspects, including the poultry farm operator Saud, to ensure they face justice. This incident serves as a grim reminder of the need for society to stand against such appalling acts and work together to protect the vulnerable from such cruelty and injustice.

Punjab Police on Saturday busted an inter-state illegal weapon smuggling and manufacturing module operating out of Madhya Pradesh.

Punjab Police arrested two Madhya Pradesh-based arms suppliers involved in large-scale illegal manufacturing and supply of weapons from MP into Punjab as well as other states, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.

The accused persons were apprehended from Madhya Pradesh by the team of Counter Intelligence Jalandhar.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav further said that the accused have been identified as Harpal Singh of village Signoor in district Khargone and Kishore Singh Rathore of village Balwari at district Bharwani of MP.

The police teams have also recovered a cache of 17 pistols of .32 bore along with 35 magazines, from their possession.

“The preliminary investigations revealed that these weapons were meant to be supplied to criminal gangs associated with Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Ravi Balachauria,” he said.

The development came after the Counter Intelligence unit arrested a person identified as Lovedeep alias Love from Maqsudan-Bidhipur Road in Jalandhar, after recovering one Pistol along with two cartridges from his possession.

A case under section 25 of the Arms Act, was registered against the above said accused in the police station SSOC Amritsar.

The DGP said that following the backward and forward linkages during the investigation of backward and forward linkages, it has come to the fore that the recovered weapon was part of a consignment, supplied by inter-state weapon manufacturers and suppliers, suspected to be based in MP’s Khargone and Bharwani districts.

“Following these inputs, a team of CI Jalandhar went to MP on Tuesday and managed to trace out and arrest both the accused arms suppliers,” he added.

AIG Counter Intelligence Jalandhar Navjot Singh Mahal said that the operation is still going on and there is a high possibility of more recovery of arms and ammunition.

An innocent 12-year-old girl was brutally attacked by several dogs in Ghaziabad’s residential society. Around 5 dogs encircled the kid and when she tried to run for cover, the canines pounced on her and started attacking and biting her. Meanwhile, a delivery boy who was passing from there rushed to her rescue. He saved her life from the peck of dogs and ended the terrifying experience.

The CCTV footage of the street dogs’ attack has gone viral on social media.

The incident took place at the Officer City-1 Colony in Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad.

In the viral CCTV footage, the child can be seen walking inside a society. She is clearly terrified by the dogs that start to encircle her. Soon, she is surrounded by around 5 dogs, and panicked by this sudden attack, she momentarily stops there and cried for help. Subsequently, she tries to escape from the dogs and ran to find a cover. But the canines started chasing and pouncing on her. The dogs started attacking and biting her.

Meanwhile, a delivery boy who was passing from there came to her rescue. He chased the dogs away and saved the life of the innocent child.

These increasing number of dog attacks have been ringing the alarm bells, especially in residential societies. Following the Ghaziabad City-1 incident, the residents expressed concerns for the safety of their children. They have been raising questions about the entry of street animals and the animal lovers who have been pressuring the security guards to allow animals inside the society.

However, Surbhi Rawat, president of Peoples for Animals (PFA) Ghaziabad, alleged that the residents of the society are the ones who have to be blamed for these rampant attacks. She claimed that the residents of the society have been trampling dogs and their puppies beneath their vehicles. She claimed that these ‘merciless’ killings have made these animals violent which leads to such attacks.

She argued that when we as humans are carrying out the shameful acts of killing dogs and puppies, how can we expect anything different from animals?

Gyanvapi survey: 4 feet tall fragmented idol, Trishul and other Hindu symbols reportedly found in the basement

0

Following the court orders, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is gathering scientific evidence at the Gyanvapi site for the second day on the 5th of August. After repeated setbacks from the courts, the Muslim side joined the ASI Survey on Saturday, the 5th of August. Initially, they refused to open the basement under their control and give its keys but later they relented.

According to the information, the focus of the ASI survey has been on the central doom but now it has also entered the basement of Gyanvapi. One of them is said to be under the possession of the Vyas family and the keys to one basement are under the control of the Anjuman committee.

During the survey, the ASI teams found many symbols related to the temple architecture, as claimed by the Hindu side. Sita Sahu, the petitioner of the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi case, has made a riveting claim after the first shift of the survey work was completed at 12:30 PM to allow Muslims to offer prayers at the site.

According to Sahu, fragmented idols have been found in the basement. A four-foot idol, half of which resembles that of a human while the other half of the idol was reportedly found to resemble that of an animal, has been found. The Hindu site has claimed that the purported idol is of Narasimha Avatar. The antiquities reportedly found during the survey include a two-feet long trident, images of symbols related to Hindu temples, and 5 Kalash (urns).

These idols found inside the basement are being surveyed to determine their age, composition, and whether they are part of some pre-existed Hindu temple.

Sita Sahu added that the remains of the broken pillars of the temple were also found in the basement. She stated that the videography of the basement has been done.

Speaking to ABP News, Sahu said that the survey teams have recovered more symbols related to temple architecture than they have imagined. The ABP News reported that the ASI team asked for the basement keys from the Anjuman Intazamia Committee. Afterward, its caretaker Ejaz Ahmed opened the basement today. Subsequently, when the survey team entered the basement, they reportedly found these artifacts including a 2 feet Trishul (trident), 5 Kalash, and 4 feet long fragmented idol.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Advocate Sudhir Tripathi who is representing the Hindu site also made the same claim. He stated that they are hopeful that idols will be recovered in the ongoing survey as they have found remains of fragmented idols in the debris lying on the Gyanvapi premises.

According to Anupam Dwivedi, another lawyer representing the Hindu side, the ASI conducted a survey in the southern basement of Gyanvapi. Using a GNSS machine, they created a 3D image of the basement. Prior to this, the survey team had already examined the main hall of Gyanvapi, where they discovered symbols of lotus flowers, leaves, and idols on the pillars and walls. The entire hall was then meticulously mapped during the survey process.

The survey was stopped at 12:30 pm so that the Muslim side can offer Namaz and it resumed at 2:30 pm. In this scientific endevaour, the ASI will also conduct a detailed survey inside the auditorium and investigation other basements.
