New CCTV footage from Tihar shows Satyendar Jain having lavish meal, fresh-cut salad, fruits; jail authorities say he has gained 8 kgs weight

On Wednesday, a new video from Tihar jail appeared on social media in which Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain could be seen having proper food while lodged inside the jail in a money laundering case. The jail authorities have also revealed that Jain has gained 8 kgs of weight since he has been arrested on May 30 this year.

This is a day after the Minister submitted before the trial court saying that he was not being given any preferential treatment inside the jail and that he has not been getting privileges like proper food and medical check-up. His lawyer also claimed that he had lost 28 kgs of weight in the custody. In the CCTV footage, Jain could be seen having full meal lunch while sitting on a comfortable chair. He could also be seen having access to fresh-cut salad and fruits and bottled drinking water.

According to the reports, Jain’s counsel Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra cornered the ED on Tuesday and said that the central agency was deliberately leaking sensitive information to the media without permission. Meanwhile, Jain said that he was not even being given proper food in jail.

“What privilege are they talking about? I have lost 28 kg in jail. Is this what a privileged person in jail gets? I’m not even getting proper food. What privilege are they talking about? No prison rules are violated if an under-trial is pressing his hand or feet,” Jain said. However, the ED denied the allegations put forth by Jain’s counsel and there was no leak of information and there would never be one.

Further seeking a free and fair trial, Jain’s counsel said that even Ajmal Kasab had gotten a free and fair trial. “I am surely not worse than that. All I seek is a fair and free trial. Please look at the kind of media reports running against him and that is in their interest,” he said.

Earlier, it was reported that AAP leader Satyendar Jain, who has been arrested in a money laundering case, was being given preferential treatment in the Tihar jail. He was ‘enjoying’ his stay in jail. This is after a CCTV footage from inside Jain’s cell surfaced on the internet on November 19 showing Jain being treated specially while lodged inside the jail.

According to the video, Jain was being given foot massages and head massages in the jail while he was seen lying down on the bed and reading some documents. He could clearly be seen provided with comfortable facilities to make his stay easier at Tihar jail. Later it was revealed that the man massaging Jain face has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The AAP Minister is also provided with mineral water bottles and is not required to drink water provided to other prisoners. On November 15, it was reported that Delhi Chief Secretary had suspended Tihar jail superintendent Ajit Kumar over allegations that he was giving preferential treatment to Jain. Also around 52 jail officials including Sandeep Goel, the Director General of Prisons were transferred from the Tihar Jail on the allegations of giving special treatment last week.

On November 1, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed the Delhi Court that AAP Minister Satyendar Jain, who has been charged in a money laundering case, was being treated specially in the Tihar jail. The ED submitted the CCTV footage of the Tihar jail which allegedly showed Jain getting preferential treatment inside Tihar Jail.

The ED had said that Jain was being given foot massage and body massage while in the cell and that he was being served fresh-cut fruits and green salad directly in his cell by an unidentified individual. The ED further contended that Jain’s cell is being cleaned, mopped, and broomed by an unidentified person under the supervision of co-accused Ankush Jain.

The ED also said that Jain was continuously and easily able to meet co-accused Ankush Jain, Vaibhav Jain, and also his wife, Poonam Jain who visits him often in the cell. The ED alleged that the accused was violating all the norms of the jail and was meeting the jail superintendent every day, which is against the rules.

The ED attached assets worth Rs 4.81 crores linked to Jain and his family in April. The ED launched an investigation in the case based on an FIR which was registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Jain and others under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

A controversial crowdfunding platform used by Modi haters is online again, and Congress leader Jignesh Mevani is using it to raise election funds

The controversial crowdfunding platform ‘Our Democracy’ that was used by some Modi haters is online again. This time, Congress leader Jignesh Mevani has been seen using it extensively to raise funds for his election campaign. Mevani’s campaign was launched on the website on November 16.

On the launch of the campaign, Mevani released a video and claimed that being a “non-corrupt” MLA is not easy in the time of the “sale and purchase” of MLAs. He further added that he was fighting with the “BJP Forces”.

Interestingly, Jignesh urged people to spread the link on WhatsApp, the platform he has been ridiculing for a long time. He has been seen mocking BJP supporters by hinting they get their data from “WhatApp University”, a slang used for fake news spread on the messaging platform.

Jignesh urged his followers to use WhatsApp to spread campaign link. He had ridiculed WhatsApp in the past. Source: Twitter

Another interesting aspect of Jignesh’s campaign on Our Democracy is that it does not mention his political affiliation. Though Jignesh is contesting Congress’s ticket from the Vadgam seat, there is no mention of the Congress party on the campaign page. Last time, Mevani won the election as an independent candidate with Congress’s support. Notably, former Congress leader Manilal Vaghela who had won the 2012 election from Vadgam, is contesting the election against Mevani on BJP’s ticket.

Mevani has been asking for Rs 40 lakh to contest the elections. So far, he has raised over Rs 6.9 lakh. Started by one Divya Gaur, there were over 650 supporters of the campaign by the time this report was published. Top donors included a donor named Teesta Setalvad, who donated Rs 30,000. It is unclear if this was the same Setalvad who was recently arrested by the Gujarat police for allegedly conspiring against then-Chief Minister Narendra Modi and attempting to get capital punishment for him in the Gujarat Riots 2002 case. It is not possible to identify the real identity of the donor. Notably, the website required PAN card details for donations above Rs 2,000.

The controversial history of ‘Our Democracy’

In January 2022, OpIndia reported that the website Our Democracy had gone offline mysteriously. The platform had given space to the likes of then-Congress supporter (now TMC leader) Saket Gokhale, Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar, AAP leader Aatishi Marlena and many others. Mevani had also used the platform previously.

Notably, in November 2019, Gokhale tweeted a link to his crowdfunding platform asking people to cough up money because he chose to give up his ‘cushy job’ to ‘fight the BJP/RSS’, which he usually did with filing frivolous RTIs which cost just Rs 10. He urged other Modi haters to assemble and pay him so he could pay his bills and not have to take up a regular job. Later, several donors raised questions over how Gokhale used the funds collected.

At that time, OpIndia dug a little deeper into the crowdfunding platform and found some curious connections. Former NDTV journalist Bilal Zaidi, who had also worked with channels such as Times Now and WION, started the platform ‘Crowdnewsing’ with one Anand Mangnale, an online crowdfunding platform for independent journalists. This was back in 2017.

However, just before the 2019 general elections, they decided to expand the platform and changed it to ‘OurDemocracy’ and provided the platform even to politicians like Kanhaiya Kumar and Atishi Marlena and unemployed individuals like Saket Gokhale who had quit their jobs to file RTIs full time.

We also found that Anand Mangnale, the cofounder of Crowdnewsing as well as ‘OurDemocracy’, had planted himself in WhatsApp groups in January 2020 during the violence that took place in JNU, where he appeared to be coordinating the violence that was taking place on the campus.

His number appeared in a SS shared by Barkha Dutt. A Google search of the number which Dutt inadvertently shared on Twitter revealed it was the same number Congress had used for a crowdfunding campaign. That page has now been taken off. Anand Mangnale has previously worked with TMC’s poll strategist Prashant Kishore, who had earlier worked as a strategist for ex-Congress President Rahul Gandhi in 2016 ahead of the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections. OpIndia could not independently verify whether Mangnale was part of the team for Rahul Gandhi’s alleged “image makeover”.

Our Democracy made a comeback in July this year. On July 4, they announced on Twitter that they had got a new CEO, Umar Siddiqui.

On July 8, they announced that the website was live again. Though the activity since then was minimal, it started pushing videos and campaign links for Jignesh on November 17.

Source: Twitter

Notably, there are six other campaigns with very little activity. One of them is an old campaign that was started for AAP candidate Cynthia Stephen for the BBMP elections in September of this year. The BBMP elections are scheduled for December. Notably, Cynthia Stephen herself has not shared the link to the campaign on her official Twitter handle. However, she shared it once on her Facebook account. The campaign has raised over Rs 64,000.

Other campaigners using the platform are AAP leader Hargovan Debhi (collected over Rs 25,000), AAP leader Vipul Parmar (collected over Rs 1,000), AAP leader Ashu Thakur (collected over Rs 49,000), AAP leader Kailashdan Gadhvi (collected nothing), and AAP leader Beena Balguher (collected over Rs 5,000). Mevani’s campaign has been the most successful so far. The record of old campaigns has been wiped out from the website.

AAP’s jailed minister Satyendar Jain invokes 26/11 Mumbai terrorist Ajmal Kasab after his leaked massage video

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi’s minister, currently jailed in Tihar, invoked 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist Ajmal Kasab and said that ‘even he got free trial’. He claimed the leak of his video where he is getting massage by a rape convict inside the jail would prejudice his trial. He claimed he does not have privilege and has actually lost 28 kgs while in prison. He claimed he was not getting proper food. However, Tihar authorities have denied the allegations and said that Jain has in fact gained 8 kgs weight and is getting proper food.

In a video date 13 September, 2022, Jain can be seen eating a meal in his prison cell. There are also packaged drinking water bottles kept in his cell.

Tihar jail is run by Department of Delhi Prisons which falls under the Government of Delhi.

Jain also accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of leaking information to media. In the video that was leaked earlier this week, Jain could be seen getting a massage from a fellow inmate who turned out to be a child rape accused. When the video was initially leaked, AAP had claimed the person giving massage to Jain was a physiotherapist.

Jain is in jail over allegations of money laundering.

Mangaluru blast case: Police looks for Abdul Matheen Taha, Musabbir Hussain and Arafath Ali, suspects who aided Mohammed Shariq

0

Mangaluru Police is looking for the associates of 24-year-old Mohammed Shariq, who was found injured in an auto-rickshaw blast in the city last week. As per the police, Shariq was inspired by the terrorist organisation Islamic State (ISIS). Shariq’s alleged plan was to execute the blast somewhere else, but the improvised bomb accidentally went off in the auto.

Following the blast, he was shifted to a hospital for treatment as he suffered extensive burn injuries.

Police on the lookout for suspected co-conspirators

As per reports, the police are looking for three suspected co-conspirators: Abdul Matheen Taha, Musabbir Hussain and Arafath Ali. All three are the residents of Thirthahalli, which is located around 60 km from Shivamogga.

Two of the suspects, Taha and Hussain, are wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for attempting to raise an ISIS-inspired module. They allegedly tried to recruit members from the southern states. A case was filed against them in 2020, and since then, they have been absconding.

Indian Express quoted ADGP (Law and Order) Alok Kumar said that the police suspect Arafath Ali to be the immediate handler of Shariq. Taha is suspected to be above Ali in the hierarchy, and Hussain is also suspected to be part of the group. The agency has announced a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh for information on Taha.

In 2020, Arafath, Shariq and two others identified as Maaz Muneer Ahmed from Mangaluru and Syed Yasin from Shivamogga were booked in the Mangaluru graffiti case. Following the case, Ali is suspected of having fled to Dubai. All of them were accused of painting pro-terror slogans on a wall.

The role of cryptocurrency

As per the police, it is suspected that the accused used cryptocurrency to finance the blast. Kumar said in a statement that Shariq used bitcoins. A team has been set up to probe the digital train of the transactions executed by Shariq. The police also suspect that Arafat channelled the foreign funding. The equipment used in the blast was purchased mostly from online stores.

Mangaluru Blast Case

On November 19, an auto-rickshaw exploded in Mangaluru. The passenger, later identified as 24-year-old Mohammed Shariq, in the auto-rickshaw, was carrying a pressure cooker. The police found an improvised explosive device (IED) inside the cooker that exploded. Shariq was using a fake Aadhaar card with the Hindu name Premraj. He was already on investigating agencys’ radar for months.

Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Manchester United with immediate effect as his contract gets terminated with mutual agreement

0

Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have agreed to end their tumultuous relationship as the two parties came to an agreement to terminate Ronaldo’s contract with immediate effect. Ronaldo’s second stint with the club ended up being a lot less impressive than his first stint when he made his name in world football while winning 3 successive Premier League titles and a Champions League.

There were speculations right through the summer transfer window that Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United, but United and the new manager Erik Ten Hag refused to let him go. However, once the season started, Ronaldo was only a peripheral figure as the side did much better without him on the pitch.

Having spent most of the first few months of the season on the bench, it was inevitable that a player of Ronaldo’s stature will clash with the manager, and things came to a head during United’s win against Tottenham. Ronaldo refused to come on as a substitute with 3 minutes left and United leading 2-0. In fact, he walked right out of the stadium after that in a move that really upset the manager and most United fans.

The last straw was Ronaldo’s interview with controversial TV personality and very vocal Arsenal fan Piers Morgan. In the interview, Ronaldo criticised everyone from the club’s owners to the manager to the infrastructure around the club. Once the interview aired, it became clear that Ronaldo will not be featuring for Manchester United anymore.

Initially, United explored legal options to terminate the contract from their end but now it seems like the two parties have come to an agreement to end this toxic relationship by mutual consent.

Manchester United was the club where Cristiano Ronaldo first made his name after signing from Sporting Lisbon as an 18-year-old. However, the return after spending very successful years at Real Madrid and Juventus didn’t quite match the glories of the first stint in United’s colours.

During his interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo mentioned that he had a big money offer from Saudi Arabia to play there, there have been rumours of a move to Major league Soccer in USA as well, plus Chelsea stepping in to sign him has also been mentioned. Whatever decision Ronaldo may take regarding his future, it is unlikely to happen before the ongoing World Cup ends in Qatar.

Qatar 2022: Saudi Arabia declares a public holiday after their football team shocks Argentina at the World Cup

0

In one of the biggest ever upsets in the history of the football World Cup, Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina 2-1 in their opening encounter of the tournament. Lionel Messi-led Argentina was one of the favourites to win the tournament but the unfancied Saudi team managed to get the better of them with a superlative second-half performance. Following this historic win, the Saudi government has declared a national holiday in the country to celebrate the achievement.

The ‘Green Falcons’ fought back after going 0-1 down to a Messi penalty in the first half with goals from Saleh al-Shehri and Salem al-Dawsari. Dawsari’s brilliant curling effort gave Saudi Arabia the lead, the lead they didn’t relinquish till the end thanks to some resolute defending and some excellent goalkeeping by Mohammed Al-Owais.

Saudi Arabia’s historic win broke a sequence of 36 unbeaten games for Argentina. In what is likely to be Lionel Messi’s last tournament with the national side, Argentina was expected to breeze through the group stages but having lost to Saudi Arabia, they are now up against it having to face much tougher opponents in Poland and Mexico, the other two teams in the group.

For Saudi Arabia, the win was beyond their wildest dreams. Last month, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman told the team that their group is very difficult so nobody is expecting a win or even a draw during the tournament. He just asked the players to play their game and enjoy the tournament.

However, the Saudi players did more than that, they beat one of the footballing powerhouses and the favourites to win the World Cup. A national holiday in Saudi Arabia seems like the appropriate tribute to the achievement of these players.

‘The victory of Ummah’: Muslim netizens rejoice after Saudi Arabia stuns Argentina in FIFA World Cup

On Tuesday, Muslim social media users celebrated Saudi Arabia’s 2-1 victory over Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Argentina has gotten off to the worst possible start in what is expected to be their ace Lionel Messi’s final World Cup. The Muslim users hailed the win over Argentina as the victory of the ‘Muslim Ummah.’

‘Ummah’ is an Arabic word for ‘community’, usually referring to single group of people which shares common religious beliefs. The Muslim community often refer to the Ummah to allude to a universal brotherhood between Muslims. Muslims globally, refer to the Ummah to say that globally, it is their religious identity that comes first, not that of the nation they belong to.

Muslim Twitter users celebrate Saudi Arabia’s victory over Argentina as victory of Ummah

Twitter user Azam wrote, “Saudi Arabia What a win Pride of the Footballing Muslim Ummah Argentina falls”

Another user Asad Muhammad Khan wrote, “Well played Saudi Arabia. You have made Muslim Ummah proud! Alhamdolillah”

A Twitter user Sulman Gul, whose profile indicates he is from Pakistan, wrote, “The underdogs have done it. Congratulations to Saudi Arabia from Pakistan.”

Shakeel Ahsaan wrote, “Shabash Saudi Arabia This one’s for Muslim Ummah!”

As most of the users commenting on the win are Pakistanis, it is notable that the Pakistani team is not playing in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The Pakistani team has not qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup had its biggest upset yet when unfancied Saudi Arabia rallied from a goal behind to overcome one of the tournament’s favourites, Argentina, by a score of 2 to 1. Argentina appeared to be on course for a straightforward win in the first half when record goal scorer Lionel Messi neatly placed them ahead from the penalty spot. Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, came out of halftime with increased vigour, and within three minutes, they were level thanks to Al Shehri’s goal.

Argentina attempted to fight their way back into the game, but an inspired Saudi defence stood fast, with goalkeeper Al Owaisi making several important stops to hold the Argentinians at bay.

The shocking loss has put a spanner into the works for Argentina who were one of the favourites to lift the trophy before the tournament began having been on a 36 games unbeaten run. They now face an uphill task to get out of the group stage with their next two games against much tougher opponents in Mexico and Poland, who face off against each other later today.

Chandigarh: ‘Jilted lover’ Mohammed Shariq kills 18-year-old girlfriend Mamata after break up, arrested

0

On Sunday, November 20, Chandigarh police shared that a 25-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly strangulating an 18-year-old girl to death at her residence in Chandigarh’s Burail village. According to reports, the youth committed the crime after getting angry over a breakup.

The accused has been identified as Mohammed Shariq, a native of Bihar. The victim was identified as Mamta, a resident of Burail village in Chandigarh. Police said that Shariq was residing in the victim’s neighbourhood in Burail but had recently moved to another place.

Shariq is married and his wife lives in Bihar. According to police, the accused was planning to flee to Bihar when he was apprehended at a local bus station.

The police have filed an FIR against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Police have not ruled out the possibility of rape at this moment and are awaiting the girl’s autopsy report to see if she was sexually assaulted.

Speaking about the incident, the police revealed that Shariq had been in a relationship with the deceased for around two years. He told the police that he killed the victim, a Class 12 student, after she stopped talking to him after finding out that he was already married.

The police further revealed that the victim’s mother had spoken to both her daughter and the accused, asking them to break off ties since the latter was already married. Later, Mamta started maintaining distance from him and also blocked him on her phone.

Miffed over this, Shariq strangled Mamata to death at her home on Saturday when she was alone. Champa Devi, her mother, working as domestic help, discovered her body at 2 pm after returning from work.

“Accused Mohammed Shariq was remanded in police custody for his custodial interrogation. We have found CCTV camera footage showing the accused entering the house of victim Mamta. According to the footage, he came out of the house after one and a half hours. Victim Mamta and her mother, Champa, were aware of the married status of the accused. The postmortem of the body is underway,” a police officer said.

The news came on the heels of the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walkar in Delhi’s Mehrauli, wherein her live-in partner Aftab Poonawalla strangled and chopped her body into 35 pieces and stored her body parts in a newly purchased fridge, so he could take his time to dispose of her body parts, one at a time.

Saudi Arabia: 3 Pakistanis among 17 men executed in last 12 days. Here is what we know so far

0

On Tuesday (November 22), a spokesperson for the United Nations Human Rights office, Elizabeth Throssell, shared that a total of 17 people have been executed by the Saudi Arabian regime in the past 12 days.

Capital punishment was handed out to the deceased convicts for drug-related offences. The recent executions have taken the total number of executions to 144 in 2022. While expressing ‘deep regret’, Elizabeth Throssell informed that those executed by the Kingdom belonged to Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

As per a report by The Telegraph, the executed convicts include 3 Pakistanis, 2 Jordanians, 4 Syrians, and 3 Saudi nationals. The ethnicity and racial identity of 5 other men, executed by the State, remain unknown at this point.

Earlier on Monday (November 21), an NGO named Reprieve accused Saudi Arabia of being on an execution spree and killing 15 people in less than 2 weeks’ time.

“While all eyes are on the World Cup, Saudi Arabia is carrying out a horrifying execution spree. The Kingdom has executed 15 people convicted of drugs offences in the last 12 days, breaking a promise to end executions for non-violent crimes,” it said in a tweet.

Reprieve blamed the Joe Biden administration for the rise in executions in the Arab nation and attributed it directly to its softening stance on the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s involvement in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.

“Biden went from promising to make Saudi Arabia a “pariah” to granting its Crown Prince immunity for Khashoggi’s murder. This is a regime that kills journalists, pro-democracy protesters & child defendants,” the NGO stated.

It added, “The failure to hold it accountable all but guarantees more bloodshed.” Reportedly, the number of executions this year is higher than the combined total of the executions carried out in 2020 and 2021.

Director of Reprieve, Mata Foa, said, “Proof once again that when Saudi Arabia’s international partners signal that the regime can kill with impunity, the Crown Prince and his subordinates get the message – and act on it.”

Leftwing trolls hurl casteist slurs at Ravindra Jadeja as he campaigns for his wife and BJP candidate Rivaba Jadeja: Here’s how he has been tearing down such attacks

0

With Gujarat assembly polls weeks away, Ravindra Jadeja, a prolific all-rounder who is not one to back out from challenges, jumped into the political fray to campaign for his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, who is BJP’s candidate from Jamnagar.

Jadeja, who has become a linchpin to the Indian cricket team’s success in the Tests and T20I formats and whose absence due to injury cost them dearly in the recently concluded T20 world cup, has been on a campaign trail to promote his wife’s candidacy for the Jamnagar (North) Vidhan Sabha seat in the forthcoming assembly polls.

The southpaw has been a constant presence in the political campaign as his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, faces tough contests from veteran rivals. She is up against Bipendrasinh Jadeja of the Congress and AAP’s Karsan Karmur, who was with the BJP until a year ago, in her election debut. She also has to assuage sitting BJP MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, who seems unconcerned about her campaign.

With challenges galore, Jadeja has stood like a pillar for her wife, extensively campaigning for the BJP leader and leveraging his popularity to sway potential voters into the BJP’s fold. As a part of the campaign trail, Jadeja, along with his wife, met Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Monday. Shah was in town to take stock of the poll campaign and canvass for the BJP candidates.

And not just in the physical realm, but in the online world too, Jadeja’s presence has been pervasive, assiduously promoting his wife’s candidacy for the upcoming assembly Gujarat polls.

Recently, Jadeja shared pictures of the meeting with Amit Shah at the Jamnagar airport. “Pleasure meeting you sir @AmitShah #jamnagar” tweeted.

No sooner did the Chennai Super Kings cricketer shared the pictures of his meetings with Amit Shah, a host of Islamists and leftwing trolls descended on his timeline, attacking him for meeting the former BJP chief and using racial slurs to diss the cricketer for aligning himself with the saffron party.

Ravindra Jadeja attracts the wrath of Islamists and leftwing trolls for campaigning for his wife Rivaba Jadeja

A Twitter user responded to Jadeja’s tweet saying that he is sure going to lose a lot of fans and supporters.

Another digruntled Twitter user who appeared to be an Arvind Kejriwal fanboi, tweeted, “Retire from cricket.”

With Ravindra Jadeja being the centre of discussion, some leftist trolls inevitably dragged his Rajput identity to attack the cricketer.

What the attack against Jadeja reflects about the leftwing mentality

First and foremost, Rivaba Jadeja is the spouse of Ravindra Jadeja. The outrage against the cricketer over campaigning for BJP is entirely misplaced, as her husband, Jadeja, is pulling no punches to help his wife emerge victorious in her latest political pursuit. Jadeja is assisting his wife in his capacity as a husband, which any reasonable spouse does to help their partner in fulfilling their personal, professional, or political aspirations.

Jadeja was campaigning for his wife’s victory in the upcoming polls, as any other husband would. But just because his wife is a BJP candidate, the leftwing supporters, who keep citing the Constitution of India ad nauseam and the individual rights enshrined in it, were willing to disenfranchise the cricketer and use casteist slurs against him.

Secondly, the abominable casteist slur against Ravindra Jadeja reflects the hypocrisy of the leftwing supporters, who accuse others of perpetuating caste discrimination but behave in the same manner to run down their ideological opponents. While they champion the cause of individual rights, they feel no qualms about trampling over them when attacking their opponent. While they virtue signal against using casteist slurs, they spare no time indulging in the same behaviour to denigrate people whose political ideology is at odds with theirs.

However, this is not the first time that Jadeja faced an online attack for being a Rajput and exercising his constitutional right to side with a political party his wife is associated with. And through his conduct over the years, Jadeja has shown that he is not one to be cowed down by such perverse attacks. Instead of ducking the bouncers thrown at him by the leftwing trolls, Jadeja decided to take them on, swatting them for sixes all around the park.

Ravindra Jadeja shows how to bat against leftwing outrage factory

In March 2019, Islamists targeted Ravindra Jadeja after his wife, Rivaba Jadeja, joined the BJP. And since then, Jadeja has been a focal point of Islamist criticism and woke leftists, who have attacked him for his association with the BJP and the unabashed embracement of his Rajput identity.

Earlier last year, woke trolls targeted Jadeja after he posted a tweet where he called himself a ‘proud Rajput boy’. “#RAJPUTBOY FOREVER. Jai Hind,” Jadeja tweeted.

Jadeja’s bold tweet betrayed that he cared two hoots about the outrage that would inevitably follow after he asserted his Rajput identity. It showed his haughty disregard for the leftwing users, who have made it their profession to attack those who are proud of their Hindu roots and cultural heritage.

For some time now, the leftist trolls on social media platforms have attacked notable celebrities who have not shied away from expressing their caste and Hindu identity. These trolls not only resort to abusing, threatening and humiliating such personalities online but they also indulge in promoting “cancel culture” against them and encouraging their social ostracism, simply because their ideology did not converge with theirs.

However, it did little to deter Jadeja from asserting his identity. Instead, it emboldened him to continue wearing his identity on his sleeve and drive the leftwing trolls up the bend. Far from forfeiting one’s identity and meekly surrendering to their outrage, Jadeja displayed that the only way to fight the scourge of leftwing trolls is to rub them in and continue to assert one’s identity.
