Prayagraj authorities issue notice to demolish illegal house of violence mastermind Javed Ahmed, daughter is a close aide of Shaheen Bagh mastermind Sharjeel Imam

The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has issued notice that they will be demolishing the illegally constructed house of the Prayagraj violence mastermind Javed Ahmed today. The authority had issued a notice on June 10 to vacate the premises of his unlawfully constructed house by 11 AM today. The Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended Javed Ahmed, the suspected mastermind of the rioting in Prayagraj during the Friday Namaz on June 10th. However, at the time of publishing of this report, there seems to be delay in demolition.

The notice was issued by the zonal officer of the Prayagraj Development Authority on June 10, asking to vacate the illegal premises till June 12. As per the notice, the house in the Kareli Police Station area was built unlawfully and without approval from the competent authorities. On May 10 of this year, a show-cause notice was issued in this respect, with the date of hearing set for May 25.

According to the notice, Javed Ahmed did not appear before the authority, thus the authority issued orders to self-demolish the house by June 9th. However, the authority discovered that the instructions were not followed and that the home was not demolished, therefore the authority issued this notice to evacuate the premises by June 12 in order to raze the property.

Javed was apprehended following the unrest in Prayagraj that erupted after the Friday prayers. Javed and other anti-social elements, it appears, exploited children to throw stones at police and administration. SSP Prayagraj previously stated that Javed Ahmed’s daughter, a student in Delhi, is also involved in similar activities.

Afreen Fatima, daughter of Javed Ahmed

Afreen Fatima, a Jawaharlal Nehru University student, is Javed Ahmed’s daughter. Afreen Fatima said hateful things against the government and the Supreme Court in a video that went popular on social media in January 2020. She questioned the country’s top judicial body’s credibility by questioning key rulings such as the Ram Mandir verdict and the hanging of terrorist Afzal Guru.

The JNU student attempted to incite the audience in a 45-second video posted on Twitter by user @knewschannel by claiming that while demonstrating against CAA and NRC, they realised that neither the government nor the Supreme Court is worthy of their faith.

In February, she took to Twitter and shared an article in favour of terrorist Afzal Guru. She is a close associate of the suspected anti-Hindu Delhi riots accused and Shaheen Bagh mastermind Sharjeel Imam

Fatima also asked Muslims to target Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for his remarks on the communalization of anti-CAA protests. On January 12, 2020, Fatima took to Twitter and invited Muslims to confront Tharoor, whom she branded an “Islamophobe,” with La Illaha Illallah shouts.

Hindus in Nepal show up in support of Nupur Sharma, hold rallies raising Jai Shri Ram slogans

Thousands of Hindus from Nepal turned out in support of suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma following the death threats she has received after her remarks on the Islamic prophet, as per videos that have gone viral on the internet. Visuals have emerged of people rallying with placards reading “We Support Nupur Sharma” and Jai Shri Ram chants raised along with Nepal flags.

Several videos have surfaced on Twitter and other social media platforms showing people holding placards in support of Nupur Sharma with the Nepali flag. Another video was posted on the video streaming platform YouTube also in which a huge number of people can be seen rallying in support of Nupur Sharma and the officers of the Nepali police around.

Nupur Sharma is garnering global support in the wake of global outcry over her words and widespread violent protests in various cities. The rallies in Nepal are one such incident. Recently, Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders stood in support of Nupur Sharma. In the Netherlands, Wilders has frequently taken a harsh stance against Islamic radicalism. Even Wilders has received multiple death threats after he showed up his support for Nupur Sharma.

Several Hindu seers have also openly supported Nupur Sharma in this controversy. Hindu saints explicitly stated at the Dharma Parishad in Kashi that those threatening Nupur Sharma should be caught and punished. They also denounced the violence that erupted in several parts of the nation during the Friday Namaz on June 10th, 2022.

The controversy around the alleged ‘blasphemous’ statements has escalated, with many reports of violence in various locations during rallies against Nupur Sharma. On Friday, June 10, 2022, there were acts of violence by Islamist mobs in different parts of the country in protest of Nupur Sharma’s so-called controversial speech, which Islamists deem blasphemy.

On the 10th of June, Islamists attacked police officers in the holy city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh during ‘protests’ against suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma for her statements about Prophet Muhammad. On Saturday, June 11, 2022, a confrontation erupted between police and so-called demonstrators at Panchla Bazar in Howrah.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed state and union territory police chiefs to be prepared and vigilant, as they would be on target following Friday’s violent rallies across the country, with Muslim crowds pelting stones and becoming violent in several cities.

Uttar Pradesh: Egg placed on Shivling in Prayagraj sparks row

On Saturday (June 11) morning, the priest of the Koteshwar Mahadev temple in Prayagraj discovered an egg, which appeared deliberately placed on the sacred Shivling by some unidentified miscreants.

As per reports, a large number of devotees gathered in the temple when the news of desecration spread in the area. The development came a day after a frenzied Muslim mob pelted stones at the police over alleged blasphemy committed by ex-BJP leader Nupur Sharma.

Despite the attempt by miscreants to create disturbance in the area through temple desecration, the Hindu devotees exercised restraint. The temple was cleansed after the incident and the puja was resumed.

A large contingent of police was deployed outside the temple to avert any law and order situation.

While speaking about the matter, Prayagraj Police informed, “We have received information about such an act done by some unidentified miscreants. The cops took immediate cognisance of the incident. The situation is under control right now.”

It further added, “A case has been registered at the Shivkuti police station based on the information. A probe has also been initiated into the matter.”

On Friday (June 10), Prayagraj witnessed heavy stone-pelting on the police forces by Islamists after the Friday Namaz and the situation continues to remain tense. The protest staged against Nupur Sharma quickly turned violent with the protestors pelting stones at the security forces after sloganeering.

After the protests turned violent, Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) lathi-charged the protestors to clear the area. However, the stone-pelting continued intermittently despite the best efforts of the security forces.

The incident took place in the Kareli Police Station area of Atala in the Prayagraj district. In anticipation of the violence following the Friday Namaz, police had deployed their personnel in large numbers in advance, but the violence still broke out.

Hundreds of Islamists took to the streets to ‘protests’ and started targeting the police officials. The District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police tried to calm the situation down but to no effect. The protesters were demanding the hanging of Nupur Sharma for her remarks.

The rioters seemed better prepared than the local administration, and despite the use of tear gas and lathi-charge, the cops were not able to bring the situation under control thus far.

Ex-cricketer Venkatesh Prasad calls out whataboutery of those justifying the hanging of Nupur Sharma’s effigy outside Belgavi mosque

Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad on Sunday called out those who were indulging in whataboutery on his tweet where he expressed shock and condemned the hanging of effigy of ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma outside a mosque in Belgavi, Karnataka, over her remarks on Prophet Muhammad.

Earlier, Prasad had expressed his horror on the hanging effigy via a tweet where he had said that he could not believe this was India in 21st century. He had appealed to everyone to let sanity prevail and leave politics aside. However, his appeal for sanity rubbed some ‘liberals’, Islamists and others a wrong way who, instead of agreeing to bring an end to the violence and death threats, indulged in whataboutery instead.

Many Islamists shared images of the demolition of disputed structure at Ayodhya which triggered violent riots back in the day. So much that 10 years later in 2002, an Islamist mob burnt down a train full of pilgrims coming from Ayodhya.

Surprising someone would use these images to justify death threats to Sharma for citing things which are stated in the Islamic scriptures.

Some even shared visual images of police action on rioters in Jharkhand to justify public display of a hanging effigy.

Some even tried to justify it by claiming how political workers have often burnt effigies and so have cricket fans. However, effigy burning as a means of protest is way different than hanging an effigy as a death threat and as message to others that same fate awaits them should they ‘hurt religious sentiments’ of one community. For a community that likes to call itself peaceful, it sure has violent ways to prove how peaceful it is.

Along with all the Islamists, Bollywood entertainer Swara Bhasker, too, joined in to water down the threats to Nupur Sharma. Bhasker, however, has not yet condemned the riots and calls for beheading and bounty announced on Sharma’s head for ‘hurting religious sentiments’ of a community.

Frustrated by the lack of willingness by hardliners to let sanity prevail, the former cricketer said how he found it unbelievable. He said that this effigy is not just about Sharma but it is a threat to more than one person in no uncertain terms. Bodies were similarly hanged on cranes for public display by Islamist group Taliban when it toppled the government in Afghanistan.

Gujarat: Women’s group to hold rally in Ahmedabad in support of Nupur Sharma who is receiving death threats by Islamists

Naari Gaurav Suraksha Samiti (Women Pride Protection Committee) will be holding a rally in Ahmedabad on Sunday, June 12, in support of Nupur Sharma.

Naari Gaurav Suraksha Samiti rally

As per a statement issued by the organisation, Nupur Sharma’s statements on Prophet Muhammad has allegedly hurt religious sentiments of some and an FIR has also been made on her. She had no intention to hurt anyone’s feelings and now with the FIR the matter is sub judice. Hence, as a civil society, we must let the law take its course, the statement said.

However, some people of particular faith have created a riots-like situation and under the garb of peaceful protests have taken to violence. ‘They have also called for Nupur Sharma’s beheading. Some have even demanded death sentence for her. The situation has escalated so bad that a civil war-like situation has emerged. This is very dangerous for the secular fabric of our nation,’ the statement read.

Adding that the Nupur Sharma incident is not about Hindu-Muslim but about the respect to constitution of India and also about the respect of woman of India. Hence, instead of waiting for the law to take its course, this kind of violence is condemnable. Hence the organisation is going to hold a silent protest calling for ‘Ruk Jao’ (stop) to the violence that has descended upon the streets of India. The peaceful rally will be held later on Sunday between 5 PM to 6 PM.

AltNews’ Mohammed Zubair triggered the abuse on Nupur Sharma

In last week of May 2022, during a debate on Times Now, Nupur Sharma made certain comments on Prophet Muhammad which have also been stated in the Islamic scriptures. Her comments were in response to the constant slew of mockery of the Shivling found inside the wuzukhana of the disputed Gyanvapi structure.

Soon after the debate, AtlNews cofounder Muhammed Zubair shared part of the clip on his social media handle and called for action against her. Subsequently, his rabid followers started giving death and rape threats to Nupur Sharma. Zubair and other Islamists like Washington Post Columnist Rana Ayyub and others then started tagging Middle Eastern countries authorities, in a bid to embarrass India on an international platform. They even asked the Middle Eastern countries to stop oil to India over Sharma’s statement.

The BJP had suspended Sharma and expelled party leader Naveen Jindal over the statements. However, the threats to their lives and lives of their loved ones continue. It has been over a week since then but riots have taken place after Friday namaz (Islamic prayer) in various parts of India. In fact, mainstream politicians have also asked for Nupur Sharma to be hanged publicly after some people in Belgavi hung an effigy of hers hanging from a crane right outside the mosque. The Taliban, when it came to power back in Afghanistan last year had started hanging dissenters publicly on crane like that.

‘Bulldozer action will continue unabated’: Yogi Adityanath assures strict action against rioters

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured strict action against the rioters and stated that in any situation, the talks between the communities will be maintained.

In a series of tweets, Yogi Adityanath, a day after violence over comments on Prophet Muhammad gripped Uttar Pradesh and the rest of the country, issued a public statement, vowing to take exemplary action against the rioters who had indulged in violence, vandalism and arson on Friday.

Yogi Adityanath said, “We are citizens of a democratic country. We have to maintain dialogue with all sides. Action against miscreants will also be continued along with maintaining constant communication with religious leaders/civil society.”

He added, “Action against miscreants should be such that it becomes an example for all elements who have anti-social thinking and no one can even think of spoiling the harmony.”

In the subsequent tweet, Yogi Adityanath said, “Those patronising the mafia will be dealt with sternly and not a single attempt to vitiate the atmosphere will be accepted. The conspirators/accused will be identified and arrested at the earliest. Legal action will be taken against such people under NSA or gangster act.”

Yogi Adityanath assured that no bulldozers will be run over the houses of the poor and innocent but at the same time, no miscreant will be spared. He further tweeted, “Bulldozer action against criminals/mafias will continue unabated. No such action will be taken, even by mistake, against the residences of poor people. If a poor/helpless person has constructed a house in an unfit place for certain reasons, it will first be properly managed by the local administration.”

Yogi Adityanath further added, “The chaotic elements trying to ruin the peaceful atmosphere of the state will be very strictly dealt with. There should be no place for such people in a civilized society. Not a single innocent will be harmed and no guilty will be spared.”

It is notable that the Uttar Pradesh police and the administration have started the action against the rioters and bulldozers are running over the illegal properties of the miscreants involved in executing the violence after Friday Namaz.

Congress expels Haryana MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi from all party positions for cross voting in Rajya Sabha polls after Ajay Maken lost by 0.66 votes

Congress party has expelled its Haryana MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi from all posts with immediate effect for cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha elections from the state. Bishnoi has been removed from all positions from the party including the post of Special Invitee of the Congress Working Committee. It is notable that senior Congress leader Ajay Maken who had contested the Rajya Sabha elections from Haryana lost the election because of the cross-voting by Congress MLAs.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal signed and published a press release on 11th June 2022 that said, “Hon’ble Congress President has expelled Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi from all his party positions including the post of Special Invitee of the Congress Working Committee, with immediate effect.”

After Ajay Maken lost the election, Kuldeep Bishnoi tweeted, “I know how to crush the hood. One should not leave the jungle fearing the snakes.”

Congress had appointed Udaybhan as the Haryana State Congress President in April 2022. Since then, Kuldeep Bishnoi was angry and did not attend any congress event. He had said that he will take his next political decision only after meeting Rahul Gandhi. Everyone including Congress leader Ajay Maken and the state in-charge Vivek Bansal insisted that he should participate in party activities but things did not work out.

Ajay Maken’s defeat in the Haryana Rajya Sabha election

In a setback to the Congress in Haryana, BJP’s Krishan Lal Panwar and party-backed independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma won two Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana. Congress had fielded veteran leader Ajay Maken from the state but he had to face the defeat. The voting for the seats took place on 10th June 2022 and the election commission declared the results late in the night. It was alleged that the pole rules were violated while voting and therefore the counting of votes started after a delay of more than seven hours. The results were announced at around two in the night.

In fact, 89 out of the total 90 members of the Haryana Assembly voted for the two Rajya Sabha seats on Friday. But when the counting of votes started after answering all the complaints, the final result was declared on the basis of the 88 votes as one vote was rejected. BJP candidate Krishan Lal Panwar got 36 votes, BJP-JJP-backed independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma got 23 votes and Ajay Maken of the Congress got 29 votes. Still, Ajay Maken was defeated. The answer to the question of how lies in the preferential voting system.

After one congress vote was rejected, 88 votes were left. 88 votes divided by the total number of candidates (3) is 29.34. So 29.34 was the ‘magic figure’ in this election and BJP candidate Krishan Lal Panwar got 36 votes which is 6.66 more than the magic figure. Haryana NDA-backed independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma got 23 first preference votes. However, he got second preference votes from all the 36 MLAs who had marked Panwar as first preference. On the other hand, the Congress MLAs didn’t mark any second preference and Ajay Maken was only their preference. And due to this preferential voting, Sharma got the extra 6.66 first preference votes from Panwar. So the total number of votes for Kartikeya Sharma surged to 29.66. Ajay Maken got 29 votes. He lost the election by a fractional margin of 0.66.

Notably, Congress has 31 MLAs in the house, but one their vote was cancelled, and one MLA Bishnoi cross voted in favour of BJP.

The BJP won eight of the 16 Rajya Sabha seats up for grabs in four states, namely Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka, thus bolstering its stronghold in the Upper House of the Parliament. With five seats, Congress emerged second. MVA alliance members Shiv Sena and NCP, as well as a BJP-backed Independent candidate from Haryana, bagged the remaining seats.

Viral video of kids urinating on photo of Nupur Sharma: What it tells us about patriarchy and the prevalence of rape culture

Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has been the target of an incredible amount of hate over the past 2 weeks. Ever since Nupur appeared on a TV debate on the Times Now news channel over the issue of Shivling inside the disputed Gyanvapi structure, she has been facing a torrent of abuse and threats.

Even though she has apologized for her comments on Prophet Muhammad, and even got suspended from BJP, the abuse is showing no signs of stopping any time soon. The country saw widespread protests against her from Islamists on Friday, 10th June, after the afternoon Namaz. At some places, they hanged her effigy to remind her what they want to do to her, at some places they burnt her effigy, while at other places they demanded that she should be hanged in person.

Among all these protests, a video has gone viral on social media on Saturday, which shows a bunch of kids publicly urinating on Nupur Sharma’s photo to mark their ‘protest’ if it can be called that. In the video, two kids are urinating on Nupur’s photo while being surrounded by several other kids cheering them on. The location of the viral video couldn’t be ascertained but evident from the target of this ‘protest’, it is quite recent.

Re-inforcing patriarchy through this ‘urination protest’

The act of urinating on Nupur’s photo was performed with just one desire, to humiliate her. To show this woman her ‘aukaat’ for daring to say something which was unpalatable to these Islamists. Growing up in a highly patriarchal society, these kids have learned from childhood that it is totally normal to piss on a woman’s face if she has dared to make you angry.

FIRs for comments on Prophet Muhammad have been registered against Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, both were suspended from the party on the same day, and both are facing the same real threat to their lives right now, but with one difference. We did not see Naveen Jindal’s effigy hanging from cables, we did not see YouTube influencers making mock-beheading videos featuring Jindal, and we obviously did not see boys urinating on Jindal’s poster.

Even though threats to Jindal’s life are all too real, and he is trying his best to at least save his family from the imminent attack by moving them around, the Islamists are only interested in taking his life, not in humiliating him like they want to do to Nupur.

That is because apart from the “crime of blasphemy”, Nupur has committed another crime, to be born a woman in a highly patriarchal society. It is not enough to wait for the legal proceedings in the case to finish, no, she should be punished, and it should be done publicly because her punishment will not be over till they haven’t added public humiliation to the mix.

Promoting ‘rape culture’ by making the penis a tool to humiliate women

As mentioned earlier, the Islamists up in arms against Nupur Sharma don’t just want to see her getting punished, they want to see her humiliated before that punishment as well. This mindset that a woman should be humiliated for what she said contributes a lot to the ‘rape culture’ because, in these patriarchal societies, a woman’s dignity is tied to her vagina. If a woman gets raped, she is the one who faces more humiliation than the rapist, so if they want to humiliate a woman, that is their “go-to” move.

By cheering on these kids for urinating on her face on the poster, these boys have also been told now that their penis is a tool to humiliate a woman. They can just bring it out anywhere and use it to hit back at a woman who angers them at any time.

Some people will say these are just kids having fun and we should not read too much into it, but the foundation of the youth is laid in childhood itself. Kids will not stay kids forever, they will grow up, and how they turn out in their youth will depend on all these little lessons they will accumulate along the way. Further, as the recent Hyderabad gang rape case by minors told us, sometimes we don’t even have to wait till their youth to see the result of these lessons.

‘Comedian’ Munawar Faruqui mocks singer Justin Bieber’s facial paralysis, had earlier made fun of victims of the Godhra train burning tragedy

‘Comedian’ Munawar Faruqui recently took to Twitter to make fun of singer Justin Bieber after he revealed he is diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a form of partial face paralysis. The singer said the right side of his face has been paralysed and because of it he cannot smile or blink.

However, Bieber’s medical condition did not stop Faruqui from making fun of the singer while also taking a dig at India’s Right.

“Dear Justin Bieber, I can totally understand. Even here in India, right side not working properly,” Faruqui tweeted a day after Islamists, regarded as the ideological partners of India’s Left, went on a rampage in multiples cities and towns across the country, issuing death threats to Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal for their comments on Prophet Muhammad.

Munawar Faruqui Justin

Law and order situation across the country had deteriorated on Friday as Islamists ran riot, indulging in violent protests, vandalism and arson against what they perceived as an insult to their Prophet.

Justin Bieber takes to Instagram to reveal he is suffering from facial paralysis

Earlier yesterday, Bieber took to his Instagram and shared a video explaining about his illness. He said, “I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis. As you can see, this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move.”

“So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face. So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see,” he added.

Munawar Faruqui had mocked Hindu victims of the Godhra train burning incident, insulted Hindu Gods

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Faruqui has been insensitive in cracking his reprehensible jokes. He had made jokes about the horrifying 2002 Godhra train burning incident, when several Hindus, including women and children, were set ablaze alive by a Muslim mob.

During a show in April 2020, Munawar Faruqui mocked the 2002 Godhra carnage where 58 Hindus returning from Ayodhya were burnt alive by a Muslim mob. In a part of the clip that had gone viral on social media, one can hear him refer to the carnage as a fictional film ‘directed’ by Amit Shah and ‘produced’ by RSS.

“I was watching The Burning Train on TV. My father came and told me not to watch such nonsense and turned off the channel. I was like, ‘why so?’ He was like this is the video of Godhra kaand. And this is a news channel. I thought it is a movie directed by Amit Shah, and produced by RSS… I don’t know…,” he said. Munawar Faruqui then referred to the news about the 2002 Godhra carnage as a ‘cartoon’.

Faruqui had also mocked Hindu Gods during his ‘comedy’ gigs, which would have been called ‘blasphemy’ and elicited shouts of ‘sar tan se juda’ had he pulled off a similar kind of stunts with Islam and its Prophet. Recently, Islamists around the country have hit the streets, baying for the blood of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and dishing out death threats to her for making comments on Prophet Muhammad derived from authentic and reliable Islamic Hadiths.

Jharkhand Congress MLA Irfan Ansari demands ₹50 lakh and government job for kins of the rioters killed in Ranchi, questions role of city SP

Jharkhand Congress MLA Irfan Ansari has criticised the Ranchi police for combating the rioting Muslim mob demanding arrest of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Two rioters have been killed and several others injured in police firing in Ranchi yesterday after the protest against Nupur Sharma turned violent. The MLA also demanded compensation and govt for the victims of police action and their families.

Violent protests by Muslims against Nupur Sharma broke out in several places across the country on Friday after Namaz. The protests had turned most violent in Ranchi in Jharkhand. Vehicles were torched and vandalized and stone-pelting occurred during the protests Police were attacked. The rioters had also attacked police in Ranchi, and some of them had opened fire. The police had retaliated with return fire, and several rioters were shot. Two of them, Mudassir alias Kaifi and Sahil, died today morning, while reportedly ten more are injured.

Instead of condemning the riots, Irfan Ansari – the Congress MLA from Jamtara in Jharkhand – has raised questions on the police. Condemning the police over the firing, he demanded action on the SP of Ranchi City. Moreover, he also demanded compensation of ₹50 lakh and a government job for a family member of the rioters killed in the firing.

The Congress MLA said that he was against the appointment of the SP from the beginning, and asked who ordered firing on the protesters.

Irfan Ansari tweeted, “The Ranchi incident brought shame to the state. The job of the police is to protect, not to shoot. The working style of the City SP in Ranchi has not been up to the mark. There is a deep-rooted hatred and discrimination in him. Even after my refusal, how he was posted in Ranchi is a matter to give a thought upon. At whose behest was the order to open fire on the protesters given? City SP has already been under suspicion, and today’s incident is the result of the same. I convey my deepest condolences to the deceased and demand the Hon’ble Chief Minister for a Government job as well as 50 lakh compensation for the deceased’s family.”

The two rioters who died in police firing in Ranchi are identified as Mudassir alias Kaifi and Mohammad Sahil. The police were forced to open fire as the rioters pelted stones at them and broke the vehicles. According to some reports, there was firing from rioters as well.

Violent protests broke out in several states on Friday (June 10, 2022) over comment on Prophet Mohammed by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in a TV debate. These protests, which turned into riots, were held in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Karnataka.

In Karnataka, an effigy of Nupur Sharma was hanged near a dargah on Fort Road in the Belagavi district. The effigy was removed by the police on the complaint of BJP and Hindu leaders. Hindu organizations have demanded strict action against those who do so. According to DCP Belagavi, the police have registered a case in this regard and have launched a search for the accused.

Protests against Nupur Sharma were held in several parts of Maharashtra. Around 2,000 women protesters demanded the hanging of Nupur Sharma at Panvel near Navi Mumbai. In the Vashi area of New Mumbai, a mob raised slogans against Nupur Sharma. Similar demonstrations were held in Thane, Aurangabad, Pune, Solapur, Nandurbar, Bhandara, Chandrapur, and Latur.

In West Bengal, a road was blocked by extremist Muslim protesters in their so-called protest against Nupur Sharma in Howrah. This led to a long jam on the National Highway. During this time, tires were torched on the road. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked the Islamist protestors to go to Delhi and protest.

A crowd of around 1,500 protesters gathered at Delhi’s Jama Masjid without permission. After this, the protesters started creating a ruckus, but the police brought the situation under control within about 15 minutes. Police have registered a case for gathering without permission.
