Congress party’s protest against ED for questioning Rahul Gandhi turns violent in Delhi, several leaders and workers detained

In a violent protest, Congress workers flocked to the streets and sparked mayhem throughout Delhi on Wednesday, as Rahul Gandhi joined the Enforcement Directorate’s interrogation for the third day in a row. With his Z+ security escort, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at the ED headquarters in Delhi at about 11.35 AM. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, his sister and Congress national secretary, accompanied him on his way.

Despite the fact that a huge team of police and paramilitary personnel had been deployed around the federal agency’s office and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were in effect, thousands of Congress employees blocked the roads and protested against the central agency.

According to Sagar Hooda, Special CP (Law & Order) Delhi Police, around 150 individuals were detained today. He stated that Congress had not obtained permission to assemble today, despite the fact that its office bearers were aware of the location where Section 144 is in effect. “We had communicated to Congress in writing last night that no gathering should be conducted around ED office & on Akbar Road with Sec 144 imposed. When some workers didn’t agree to our appeal today also, we detained them. In 2.5 days, around 800 people detained,” he said.

Randeep Surjewala, Jairam Ramesh, Gaurav Gogoi, Deepender Singh Hooda, Ranjeet Ranjan, Jeby Mather, Imran Pratapgarhi, Youth Congress chairman B V Srinivas, and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) chief Neeraj Kundan were among those held. Venugopal said that this is nothing more than a “political vendetta” by the Modi government, which is attempting to discredit the Congress leadership through “false cases.” Rajasthan Congress MLA Sachin pilot has also been detained by the police.

The Congress party also claimed that the police entered the party headquarters. However, not ruling out a possibility of a minor scrimmage, police denied any such action. According to Sagar Hooda, Special CP (Law & Order) Delhi Police, several individuals hurled barriers at police near the AICC office, thus there may have been a minor scuffle, but police did not enter the AICC headquarters.

BJP slams violence by Congress

The Bharatiya Janata Party has slammed the Congress party for unleashing violence in the national capital and other parts of the country. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, during a press conference, said that the Congress party is trying to hide corruption under the guise of violence.

Rahul Gandhi is being questioned by the ED for continuously 3 days in the National Herald money laundering case. The Gandhis are directly charged in the National Herald fraud, which is one of the most famous legal cases in Indian history. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, as well as senior aides Oscar Fernandez, Motilal Vohra, and Sam Pithroda are accused of massive ‘cheating and breach of trust’ in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young Indian Pvt Ltd. (YIL). The ED summoned both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. Sonia Gandhi has been summoned on June 23 due to ‘health issues.’

Actress Sai Pallavi compares the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus with stray incidents of violence against cattle smugglers, faces backlash from netizens

On June 13, a portion of an interview of actress Sai Pallavi with Great Andhra went viral on social media platforms, where she compared the brutal genocide of Kashmiri Hindus with stray incidents of violence against cattle smugglers, in her attempt to prove she is ‘politically neutral’.

In the interview, Pallavi said she believes that the killings of Kashmiri Hindus and the attack on Muslim cattle smugglers were the same, and both should not have happened. Her remarks drew sharp criticism from netizens.

What did Sai Pallavi say?

During the interview in Telugu, the interviewer asked about her views on the political division of the society between the right-wing and left-wing and incidents of violence around them. Sai Pallavi said it is her personal opinion that violence as a form of communication is wrong. “Everyone’s perspective is different based on their environment. It is very hard for me to understand the concept of violence. It is very difficult for us to say what is right and what is wrong.”

She added, “They (Naxals) thought at that time that they could only get justice by violence. It happened in the past, long back. Our perspectives may be different. Pakistani people think Indian security forces are terrorists, we think the same for their forces. It is very difficult to say whether it (the Naxal movement) is right or wrong. It depends on the situation at that time. They thought violence was the only way, as per their situation.”

Sai Pallavi is playing the role of a Naxal in her upcoming movie Virata Parvam. Bahubali fame is Rana Daggubati is opposite Pallavi in the movie, he plays the Naxal leader that Pallavi’s character falls in love with.

The interviewer asked if she had experienced leftist movements during her college days. She said, “If I was from a Leftist family or from a Rightist family, then maybe I would have favoured one side, but I was raised in a neutral family where they taught you to have to be a good human being. The oppressed should be protected irrespective of left-wing and right-wing. I grew up in a neutral environment. I heard about this left-wing and right-wing, but we can’t say who is right and who is wrong.”

Speaking about The Kashmir Files, a film by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, Pallavi said, “In Kashmir Files movie, they showed how Kashmiri Pandits were killed.” She drew a parallel between the killings of Kashmiri Hindus, the brutal attacks on the Hindu community in the valley and the attack on cattle smugglers by locals. She said, “But recently in covid time, some Muslim guy taking a cow in a vehicle was attacked and forced to chant Jai Shri Ram slogans. So if you are talking about religious conflict, what is the difference between the two incidents? That happened then, this happened now. What is the difference? The thing is, we should stay fair and just. If we are not good humans, we won’t be just. If you are just and stand with justice, all will be ‘neutral’ around you.”

Netizens react to Sai Pallavi’s statement

Twitter user Incognito_qfs said, “After all the balancing & being neutral & good human being talks…. Sai Pallavi ended up comparing the killings of innocent Kashmiri Pandits with the killings of cow smugglers. thinks Muslims treat Kashmiri Land as their mother so they went after Kashmiri Pandits. Who will tell her the exact reason why Kashmiri Pandits were killed?”

Another Twitter user BattaKashmiri said, “Dear Sai Pallavi, there is a huge difference between a random Muslim being beaten & an entire community being uprooted. Please don’t trivialise my pain. Come and see any of our broken homes & hearts. We are witnesses to Genocide but await justice. Not Everything is Propaganda.”

Another user Pawan Durani had different thoughts. He assumed Pallavi did not know what exactly happen to Kashmiri Pandits and invited her to visit refugee camps. said, “I don’t carry hatred for Sai Pallavi, many in India have not been aware of what happened to us, as a community … Her equating us with cow smugglers is probably unintentional. I invite her to our refugee camps for better understanding May God keep her blessed.

Twitter user Parveen Reddy said, “Dear Sai Pallavi, without knowing what has happened, please stop lecturing or trying to relate the incidents to the Kashmiri exodus. There is a huge difference. Stop being a hypocrite.”

The problem with Sai Pallavi’s statement

There are two aspects of the statement given by Sai Pallavi during her interview. First, she asserted that Naxal violence happened only in the past when there was a lack of law and order. She tried to assert that the Naxals no longer kill people or destroy infrastructures in the internal Naxal-affected areas. However, the statement contradicts reality. Though it is true that the Naxal terrorism threats have been diminished, it is rather misleading and dishonest to claim that Naxals became violent somewhere in the long past and that was the only means they had to protect their people. Naxals have always been brutal and violent, have tried to weaponise Indians living in the hinterlands against the government and are to date continuing their violent attacks.

In May 2022, a conspiracy to attack Cobra Battalion was neutralised in Sukma, Chattisgarh. As per reports, if the blast had happened, there would have been multiple casualties. In April 2022, Naxals killed Police personnel in broad daylight in the Bijapur district. Till June 12, at least 16 such incidents were reported in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, where seven civilians and three Special Forces personnel were killed. Six Naxals were also neutralised in these incidents.

Also, Pallavi asserted that Hindus getting killed in the Kashmir valley was a thing of the past. The genocide of Kashmiri Hindus was not limited to the exodus from Srinagar in 1990, but has happened before that and is continuing to date. Recently, OpIndia reported that 10 Hindus were killed in the span of 36 weeks in the valley by terrorists. Makhan Lal Bindroo, Virendra Paswan, Satinder Kaur, Deepak Chand, Arbind Kumar Sah, Surinder Kumar Singh, Rahul Bhat, Ranjit Singh, Ranji Bala and Vijay Kumar lost their lives just because they were Hindus living or working in Kashmir. Hindus are being targeted in the valley, and suggesting otherwise will be equal to acting like an ostrich.

Further, Sai Pallavi tried to compare the genocide of an entire ethnic community, which was achieved by Islamists in the valley with explicit help and funding from Pakistan, with stray incidents of violence where cattle smugglers (in most of the cases, smugglers were Muslims who slaughter the animals for meat) stealing cows were stopped and beaten by locals.

Cattle smuggling is an organised crime operational all over India where the victims are poor farmers who depend on the cattle for their livelihood.

Cow protection groups, Bajrang Dal, VHP and local Police, have been working extensively to stop such smugglers from stealing cows for slaughter not only for religious reasons but also because of the fact that these cows provide a livelihood to the owners and in most of the states in India cow slaughter is a punishable offence.

On Wednesday, the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee is conducting a big opposition meeting in Delhi’s Constitution Club ahead of the Presidential Elections 2022. The meeting has been called by Banerjee to decide on a consensus candidate for the upcoming elections.

According to the reports, political parties including Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD, Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference (NC), Hemant Soren-led JMM, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, IUML, PDP, JDS, and RLD will be attending the meeting on June 15.

However, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has refused to join the discussion objecting to Congress as one of the invitees to the meeting. The party also objected to Rahul Gandhi’s recent criticism of Rao. Gandhi on May 6 had said that Rao had single-handedly destroyed the dreams of Telangana’s people and that he was not CM but a ‘king’ who does not listen to the people.

Reportedly, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, Akali Dal, and Navin Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal have also decided to not be part of this meeting. Also, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has distanced himself from the meeting. Banerjee had not invited the leader and his party in the first place, but Owaisi on June 15 said that even if he was invited he would have chosen to not attend the meeting due to Congress. “I’ve not been invited. Even if I were invited, I would not have participated. The reason is Congress”, he said.

Congress, forgetting the recent differences with the TMC, will be attending the meeting as it unitedly wants to fight against the BJP. “All opposition parties want to bring a common candidate and Sonia Gandhi had asked Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee, DMK, and others to stand in unity. We will fight together and decide on who will go and how to go”, said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.

According to the reports, the leaders who are likely to attend the meeting include HD Deve Gowda and his son and Janata Dal’s HD Kumarswamy, RLD’s Jayant Chaudhary, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, Shiv Sena’s Subhash Desai, Congress’s Mallikarjun Kharge, Jairam Ramesh and Randeep Singh Surjewala. Also, the CPI(M) and the CPI stated that they will send their MPs to the opposition meeting.

It is important to note that, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, on June 14 met NCP chief Sharad Pawar at his residence. She tried to convince him to be the common opposition candidate for the top constitutional post but Pawar, according to reports, turned down the proposal. The Presidential Elections to elect the successor to President Ram Nath Kovind are scheduled to take place on July 18. The counting of votes will take place on July 21.

Deadly momos: Delhi man chokes to death while eating momos; AIIMS cautions to chew well before swallowing

In the first of its kind of death, a man died in Delhi due to suffocation caused by improperly eating momos. A 50-year-old man, who was in a drunken state, was brought dead to AIIMS from south Delhi. Police investigations revealed that he suddenly fell to the ground while he was having food at eateries.

The popular junk food was identified as the reason for death when the post-mortem report of the deceased person came up. An examination of the CT scan during the postmortem revealed that something was stuck at the beginning of his upper trachea or windpipe. From this, the doctors concluded that his death was due to suffocation after consuming momos. The size of the momos that stuck in his throat was 5×3 cm.

The report has been published in the latest edition of the Journal of Forensic Imaging. According to a report by Mint, the head of the forensic department of AIIMS, Dr Sudhir Gupta said, “These findings are very important for medicolegal opinion but could be only done by digital coaxial tomography (CT scan). It can’t be detected in traditional visual postmortem examination.”

Experts at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, have cautioned to be careful while eating food after a rare case of a person dying due to suffocation after having momos came to light. Forensic experts from AIIMS said, “Momos are popular street food. Its surface is slippery and soft, so swallowing it without chewing properly can even lead to suffocation or death of the person.”

Choking is a medical term for an obstruction in the airway that occurs between the pharynx and the bifurcation of the trachea. When a person eats anything that is too large to enter the oesophagus, and when it accidentally moves into the trachea, it can remain in the posterior hypopharynx (the lower part of the tube that leads to the oesophagus and trachea). As a result, the respiratory tract is blocked and it causes suffocation.

Dr Abhishek Yadav, additional professor of the forensic department, AIIMS, said, “Steamy momos are one of the favourite street foods in Delhi. The surface of the momos is slippery and soft, which can be fatal if swallowed without being chewed properly. In this case, the cause of death was neurogenic cardiac arrest, which was caused by suffocation after consuming momos.”

He added, “Momos are 5×3 cm in size, which is very large and people should be aware of eating this kind of food. Whenever such incidents occur, attendees are required to immediately perform the Heimlich manoeuvre – a first-aid procedure in which a sudden sharp pressure is applied to the abdomen between the navel and the ribs to remove blockages in a person’s trachea. This is done until this food comes out of the mouth.”

Gujarat: Vir Das shows get cancelled across the state after protests; the ‘comedian’ comes down with COVID hours later

‘Comedian’ Vir Das who is infamous for his anti-India propaganda through his shows on tours abroad is finding it difficult to fix a spot for his show in Gujarat. The people of Gujarat have launched protests against the controversial stage comedian and his shows on the Gujarat tour are getting cancelled one after the other.

His shows were organised in four cities of the state including Vapi. The ABVP and other Hindu organisations strongly opposed these shows, leading to cancellations of some of the shows even as demands for cancellations of others have started appearing.

Vir Das’s show scheduled for 15th June 2022 in Vapi has been canceled. Even in Vadodara, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has asked to cancel the show to be held on June 17. On the other hand, in Surat too, the ABVP has warned of taking strict action against anti-national activities at the event.

In Vadodara, the ABVP submitted a memorandum to the collector, municipal commissioner, and the commissioner of police demanding the cancellation of comedian Vir Das’ show on June 17. If the show is not canceled, ABVP will hold fierce protests in Vadodara, they said.

Speaking exclusively to OpIndia in this regard, ABVP Vadodara city in-charge Vraj Bhatt said, “Vir Das has made anti-India remarks in his shows in the past. Now, his show is being organized in Vadodara. Making derogatory comments on Hindu temples and speaking against India in the name of comedy to get cheap publicity is not welcome here. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has demanded that the show be cancelled. We have submitted a memorandum to the collector, police commissioner, and municipal commissioner in this regard. If this show is not cancelled, then we will take the path of protests and agitation.”

According to the Vadodara police sources, the matter has been further investigated and the organisers are also being contacted after the request for its cancellation was submitted by the ABVP. If any such program hurting the sentiments of the people is organised in the city, the police will take necessary steps in order to prohibit this program, considering the communal tension already prevailing in the country.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad members submitted a similar memorandum to Vapi administration officials following which the Vir Das show was cancelled. On Wednesday 15th June 2022, VHP submitted a memorandum to the Valsad district collector to cancel the comedian’s program planned to be held in Vapi. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad demanded the cancellation of the show, saying that the comedian’s program, which may include anti-national remarks and jokes about deities, could spoil the harmony not only in Vapi but in the Valsad district as well.

Vir Das’s Vapi show has been called off after intervention by the VHP. Speaking to OpIndia, the management of the hall in Vapi where the event was scheduled to be held has also confirmed the same.

In Surat, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members have raised their voices against the Vir Das show. Speaking to OpIndia, ABVP leader Himalayasinh Zala said, “If anti-Hindu or anti-India activities are found happening in any way in the program, the ABVP, as well as other Hindu organizations, will take legal action and the insult to the country will not be tolerated. In Surat, a program of Vir Das has been organized on 16th June.”

However, after the Vapi show scheduled for 15th June was cancelled, Vir Das tweeted to inform his followers that he has probably caught the Covid infection and therefore he will not be doing shows in Gujarat anytime soon. He wrote, “Gujarat. Woke up showing symptoms, now going to get RTPCR tested. The team is currently working on new dates for Gujarat in a few weeks whenever the venues are available. Your tickets will be refunded. Sorry, Gujarat! I hope you’ll come back on the new dates.”

It should be noted that comedian Vir Das was embroiled in a controversy in November 2021, when, during a show in the US, he made derogatory comments against India and against Hindus. He had said, “I come from an India where women are worshipped in the morning and gang-raped at night.” He had also mocked the saffron colour and called the Hindus intolerant.

Rana Daggubati became a household name all over India with his role of Bhalladeva in SS Rajammouli’s Bahubali 1 and Bahubali 2. Rana is a fine actor and has done many movies before Bahubali gave him a pan-Indian identity. Rana’s upcoming movie is named ‘Virata Parvam’, scheduled to release on June 17. The movie also has Sai Pallavi, Nandita Das, and Priyamani in other roles.

The trailer of the movie shows that Rana plays the role of the central character Ravanna, a Naxal leader while Sai Pallavi plays a besotted starry-eyed village lass who falls in love with Ravanna’s writings and eventually with Ravanna himself, then becomes a Naxal to join him.

Now, there is nothing wrong is telling stories of Naxals, but any aware Indian knows how much the violence, bloodshed and depravity the movement has caused. Naxal apologists often try to portray the movement as a righteous war for justice and equality, something that is reverberating with very dramatic music and visuals in the Virata Parvam trailer, but they pretend to forget that Naxal terrorists have also exploited, killed and raped tribals all these years, the very people whose rights they have been claiming to protect.

Naxals reject the idea of the government bringing roads, healthcare, jobs, schools and other facilities to people living in the hinterlands. They want the people living in those areas to perpetually live in the darkness of superstitions, diseases and anarchy, deprived of the opportunities that a common Indian gets.

Leftist political parties, which are the apologists and ‘city-branch’ of the Naxal terrorists operating in the hinterlands, oppose every single infrastructure project, announce support for China and try to recruit young people into the anarchist movements where lives are lost in despair and depravity.

Whatever the political equations of earlier decades, the reality is that Naxals are terrorists, home-grown terrorists who work against the Indian nation, inspired and aided by foreign powers.

So why are mainstream Tollywood stars with millions of dedicated fan following so hell-bent on romanticising a dead, decomposed ideology that has brought nothing but despair and destruction to every single country that experimented with it? Leftists have killed more people than any other political power in modern times, more people than even Islamic terrorists, and nuclear weapons have killed. Leftist ideologies invariably bring dictators to power in country after country, who then go on committing genocides and keep their own subjects inside walls. Be it Cambodia, North Korea, South America, China or Soviet Russia, communist Leftist ideologies have always, always brought doom and mass murder.

So why is this failed, rejected, discarded ideology that has only deaths and depravity to show for being romanticised by mainstream moviemakers? Why?

Ram Charan and Megastar Chiranjeevi’s recent movie Acharya is another Naxal-worshiping drivel

While most of India is rejoicing and celebrating the super energising, visually extravagant RRR by Rajamouli where Telugu superstar Ram Charan, the son of Megastar Chiranjeevi plays the role inspired by freedom fighter Alluri Sitharamaraju, Ram Charan has stared in another movie Acharya, where his father Chiranjeevi plays the lead role.

Acharya is nothing but Naxal-worshiping drivel packaged as a movie that seems rich with Indic, Hindu visuals. The movie hides the Naxal ideology behind the curtain of Hindu traditional visuals and tries to portray that it is only the Naxals who protect the traditional Ayurvedic practices and rural villages that are rich in biodiversity and proudly follow their Hindu practices.

The movie even goes to the realm of employing visual effects where the Naxal leader, who is defined as a hero who kills the ‘evil’ police and paramilitary forces, is shown ‘chosen’ by the divine powers of Maa Durga who protects the ancient Ayurveda practitioners of the village depicted in the movie.

Storytelling is important, storytelling is beautiful. But is it necessary to tell fake stories that fan a fake narrative and nudge a vulnerable population group towards an ideology that brings nothing but death and despair?

Stories need to, deserve to be told. Agreed. But who made the rule that storytellers have to be stupid? Movies that focus on the angry young man working against the system have always been popular. Take Pushpa, KGF, or even a number of Hollywood hits, but peddling a politics that has kept whole regions of India unsafe and in poverty for decades? Seriously? What exactly are superstars like Rana Daggubati, Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi trying to achieve by it?

Jammu & Kashmir administration shuts down all schools run by Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), an affiliate of banned Islamic group Jamaat-e-Islami

On Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration ordered the suspension of academic activities at schools run by the Falah-e-Aam trust (FAT), an offshoot of the outlawed Islamic organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), and directed education department officials to shut all the schools within 15 days. The order further directed officials to get the students enrolled in nearby government institutions.

This followed a probe by the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, which revealed major illegalities, open fraud, and widespread encroachment of government lands by FAT. The FAT was created in 1972 and is linked with the Jamaat-e-Islami, an Islamic organisation that was outlawed in February 2019, prompting the arrest, imprisonment, summons, and interrogation of hundreds of its major members, activists, and sympathisers.

According to reports, the SIA discovered that all FAT schools, totalling over 300, were built on fraudulently obtained government and community land, where land was occupied through coercion, at gunpoint, and collusion with revenue officials who committed fraud and forgery by deliberately distorting entities in revenue documents.

All academic activities in the schools operated by the ‘Falah-e-Aam’ in J&K must cease immediately, according to the recent directive issued by BK Singh, Principal Secretary to the Government, School Education Department. The order reads, “All students studying in these banned institutions shall admit themselves to nearby government schools for the current academic year, 2021-2022. All CEOs /principals/ZEOs shall facilitate the admission of these students. No new admission shall be taken in these banned FAT institutions and no further registration of these institutions shall be done.”

FAT was banned in 1990

FAT was outlawed by the then government in 1990 when around 11,000 children were enrolled in schools administered by this trust. Following the prohibition, the bulk of these pupils and teachers were integrated into state-run schools. Following the prohibition, the FAT turned over the operation of the bulk of its schools to Resident Welfare Associations and village committees, which have grown to roughly 330 schools with approximately 75,000 pupils and over 5,000 teachers over the years. FAT now controls less than a dozen schools in the region.

The J&K government has resorted to the prohibition order issued in May 1990, as well as two judicial remarks made by the High Court in May 2005 and December 2021, claiming that the FAT was functioning illegally after the ban under the cover of the High Court judgement. According to the administration, they advised the J&K Board of School Education in 2019 that pupils from FAT-run schools should submit their registration and examination forms through government schools in the locality.

The chairman of the Falah-e-Aam Trust said in a statement released in response to the government order that the ban was ‘unjustified,’ explaining that the trust isn’t associated with Jamaat e Islami and is only operating seven schools that are still associated with it after the government banned it in 1990.

Ban on Jamaat-e-Islami

Following the heinous terror assault in Pulwama, the union government banned Jamaat-e-Islami on February 28, 2019. The government designated Jammat-e-Islami, Jammu and Kashmir, an “unlawful organisation” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, in a notification published in the Indian Gazette.

JeI was in contact with militant groups and was promoting extremist activities and terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas of the nation, according to the order. It claimed that the JeI backed calls for Kashmir’s secession from India, and supported terrorist and separatist organisations. Anti-national and subversive activities were also carried out by the group.

Jalandhar: ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ slogans painted on walls near Shri Devi Talab Mandir, SFJ claims responsibility

On the intervening night of June 14 and June 15, some anti-social elements wrote slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ on the walls near Shaktipeeth Shri Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar. The Police were informed about the incident in the morning, after which a Police party reached the spot and initiated an investigation into the matter.

The slogans have been painted over with spray paint, the police said. The investigating officers are checking CCTV footage from cameras nearby to identify the miscreants.

Notably, similar slogans were spotted near an educational institution on Lodawli Road in Jalandhar. Those slogans were also covered using spray paint by the Police. As per reports, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann are scheduled to visit Jalandhar to flag off Volvo buses from Jalandhar to Delhi Airport. Amidst VIP visits to the city, the Police are on high alert after finding such slogans on walls close to an important Shaktipeeth.

Banned terrorist organization Sikhs For Justice took responsibility for writing slogans on the walls near the temple. In an audio message released by SFJ’s Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, he said, “On June 15, before Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Jalandhar, slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ were written in Hindu dominating area near Devi Talab Mandir.”

He added, “I am asking a question to Hindus living in Punjab. Are you in favour of the Khalistan referendum or not? Because in previous times, Khalistan Referendum slogans used to come in the form of bullets. SFJ has converted bullets to slogans and votes. Support Khalistan Referendum.”

There have been multiple attempts to create Law and Order situation in Punjab by Khalistani elements. Earlier, similar slogans were found outside the house of session judges in Faridkot. On June 13, similar reports came from Ferozpur, where slogans of Khalistan Zindabad, Sikhs For Justice Zindabad, and SFJ January 26 2023, were written outside the Divisional Railway Manager’s office.

On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a complaint against Congress leader Sheikh Hussain at the Gittikhadan Police Station for using derogatory comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Nagpur. The BJP leaders have sought strict action against Hussain and also demanded his arrest within 48 hours, failing which they will launch an intense agitation.

According to the reports, Congress leader Sheikh Hussain and former city president participated in a protest on June 13 and used derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Jaise Kutte ki maut hoti hai vaise Narendra Modi ki maut hogi (Modi will die a dog’s death)”, he said while demonstrating outside the ED office in Nagpur to protest against the interrogation of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi by the central probe agency.

Several Congress leaders and workers from the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra staged a protest on Monday and criticized PM Modi and the ED for questioning Congress’s Rahul Gandhi in connection with a money-laundering probe linked to the National Herald newspaper. The Nagpur Police in response to the aggressive protest detained state ministers Nitin Raut and Vijay Waddetiwar along with other Congress workers.

BJP leaders who filed the complaint on June 15 stated that Congress leader Hussain has no right to speak against PM Modi and that by using foul words for the Prime Minister, Hussain stooped to a low level. The delegation was led by Chandrashekhar Bawankule, State General Secretary and MLC; Pravin Datke, City BJP President and MLC; Krishna Khopde, MLA; Sameer Meghe, MLA; Vikas Kumbhare, Mohan Mate, MLA; Sudhakar Deshmukh, Anil Sole, Dr. Milind Mane

“Mahavikas Aaghadi is pressurizing Police not to register a complaint. If the police fail to take action against Hussain in the next two days we will knock on the doors of court and agitate”, BJP’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule was quoted.

To note, the Congress party has launched massive protests in various parts of Maharashtra to oppose ED’s action against Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. Earlier, protests were staged outside the ED office in Mumbai. Also, in south Mumbai, state Congress chief Nana Patole, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, and Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtap led a protest march from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to the ED office. They alleged that the Central government was trying to silence the opposition by sending ED notices in fake cases.

In Nagpur, the protesting Congress leaders and workers marched to the ED’s office in the Seminary Hills, leading to the detention of state ministers Nitin Raut and Vijay Waddetiwar. The Congress leaders stated that such protests would continue till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and that Congress will never be intimidated by such actions.

Dharma Productions dropped the official trailer of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Mouni Roy starrer Brahmastra which is set to be released on 9th September 2022.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Shiva, who does not get affected by fire. In first glance, it appears like a cross between Harry Potter (with Amitabh Bachchan playing role inspired from Dumbledore?) and Marvel movies with a hint of Naagin sprinkled for desi flavour. As soon as the trailer was dropped, netizens took to social media to make memes over the trailer which hasn’t really excited the viewers as such.

There were jokes on Ranbir Kapoor and his fire-related super shakti.

Sushant Singh Rajput fans were upset the trailer was dropped a day after second death anniversary of the actor who passed away under mysterious circumstances in 2020.

Some even said how it was a mix of all things 90s.

And jokes on Marvel movies.

The resemblance is uncanny, though.

The story and screenplay of Brahmastra is by filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. It is produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Production, Prime Focus and Starlight Pictures in association with Star Studios. Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni are playing lead roles in the film slated to release on 9th September 2022. It is part one of the planned trilogy of a fictional universe called ‘Astraverse’.
