Twitter stock crashes after Elon Musk Tweets that the ‘Twitter deal is temporarily on hold’, here is what he said

On Friday (May 13), Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the 44 billion dollar Twitter deal has been temporarily put on hold, subject to the estimate that less than 5% of users on the micro-blogging platform are spam/fake accounts.

“Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users,” Musk had tweeted. He had also shared the link of a Reuters report dated May 2, 2022.

As per the report, Twitter Inc. in a filing has noted that fewer than 5% of 229 million users, who were served ads, during the first quarter of 2022 were false/ spam accounts.

“Twitter said in the filing it faced several risks until the deal with Musk is closed, such as whether advertisers would continue to spend on Twitter and potential uncertainty regarding our future plans and strategy,” the report added.

Musk had earlier stated that one of his main priorities is to rid the micro-blogging platform of spam accounts.

However, while announcing that the deal is put on temporarily hold, Musk didn’t elaborate what is the concern with the Twitter’s filing on spam / fake accounts. He didn’t say whether he does not believe the number, and whether he will seek an reassessment of if. It is also not known why he announced it today when the filing was made two weeks ago and has been in public domain since then.

Twitter stock crashed by over 20% following the Tweet by Elon Musk, trading at around $36 in premarket trading. The stock was already trading well below Musk’s offer of $54.20 per share, which plummeted further after the announcement.

However, later Elon Musk tried to allay concerns about the deal by tweeting that he is “still committed to acquisition” of Twitter.

Elon Musk takes over Twitter Inc.

Elon Musk, who was already the largest individual shareholder of Twitter holding 9.2% of the company, had earlier stated that he had no faith in the management and couldn’t fulfil Twitter’s true potential under them. He aimed to make the company private so that he could have full control over it and could direct Twitter to fulfil its full potential.

Twitter’s board had tried its best to resist Elon Musk’s takeover bid, including trying to trigger the poison pill strategy. However, the price Musk offered coupled with the mood of the majority of Twitter shareholders eventually forced the Twitter board’s hand.

Elon Musk, who is already the CEO of electric vehicle giant Tesla and SpaceX, had sealed the fate of the micro-blogging platform in a 44 billion dollar deal. Following the takeover, Twitter Inc. has locked changes to its source code to prevent disgruntled employees from making unauthorised changes to the platform.

Why ‘The Economist’ praising PM Modi is a trap: Why you should not play their game and how they are the enemy

One of the reasons India’s performance is less admired than it might be is that people are reluctant to highlight it lest they be seen as endorsing Mr Modi.

Okay, so The Economist said the quiet part out loud. What happens now?

For supporters of Prime Minister Modi, this may feel like a moment of vindication. After all, India is the world’s fastest-growing major economy. In fact, it has held that distinction for six out of PM Modi’s eight years in office. The only exceptions were 2019 and 2020, the first year of the pandemic. Our exports have touched $668 billion. The Indian Rupee has gained almost 10% versus both the Euro and the British pound in the last year. We manufactured our own vaccines and vaccinated over a billion people with an efficiency that surprised the world. Look at the tremendous expansion in infrastructure, sanitation, water supply, gas connections, everything. Isn’t it time somebody said something nice about India?

Well, they just did. And they even admitted that they were holding back because they hate our Prime Minister so much. So you might feel something like this.

Not so fast. Before we celebrate, let us take a moment and think. Why would they say the quiet part out loud? Since when did the liberals start playing fair?

Think about it. Why would our enemies suddenly decide to be nice to us? Yes, I used the word “enemy” for them. It is about time every single one of us used it as well. For the last several years, the liberal elite has been busy labelling our great democracy as a fascist state. They treat Hindu leaders as tyrants and common Hindus as terrorists. They even see our gods as criminals. Remember how liberals elites began an international uproar over Hanuman stickers? The only words they used to describe us are fascist and Nazi.

Over there in Europe, Putin began a war. Why did he do it? Because the West fattened him up for decades by buying oil from him. They are still buying oil from him. But when Putin decided to invade Ukraine, who did they blame? India. Do you think these liberal elites would have a sudden change of heart about India? Think again.

Only the other day, the Chinese puppet organization WHO came up with another smear against India. They knew the death registration system in India was flawed. There is no way they didn’t notice all the big jumps and falls in death registrations in various states over the last 5 years and more. But they decided to use it anyway to spin a fake story about “4.7 million covid deaths in India.” By the way, how many Covid deaths in the US? 1 million. But India’s population is 4 times as much, so we are almost even on a per capita basis. Despite the Chinese puppets doing their worst, this is all they could do…accuse India of handling the pandemic as badly as the USA!

So what did they do? They got the media to spin it into meaningless headlines. “India has the most covid deaths in the world.” Yeah, and India also has the second most number of people in the world. And those who have the highest population in the world paid for this survey, so you can imagine.

And you think these liberal elites who hate us would have a sudden change of heart? No way.

So what do our enemies want?

It’s a trap. They want credibility. They want you to think of them as your friends.

The liberal elites have been playing this game for a while. They know how to play it. If you keep calling people Nazis and fascists, the effect begins to wear out over time. We know we are not Nazis. The first time they called us Nazis, we fought back. We tried to argue and debate with them. When they called us Nazis the second time, we again tried to argue, but we were losing patience. Now many of us don’t even care anymore. Because we see them as enemy propaganda. Let them bark.

I call this “post-anger.” At a certain point, the lies and vilification don’t hurt anymore. We don’t take the Lashkar or ISIS seriously when they describe us as the scum of the earth. Why would we take for instance the New York Times any more seriously? Is their attitude towards India and Hindus any different from that of the Taliban?

But the liberal elite is more sophisticated than the Taliban. They can sense that they have reached the point where most Indians treat them with “post-anger.”

They know what to do. The vilification has reached a saturation point. The marginal utility of each new anti-India hate piece has dipped. And not just in India. It is also abroad. Common folks in the West are reading every day that Modi’s India is the same as Hitler’s Germany. Common folks in the West may not know a whole lot about India, but they are not stupid. Back in the day, they used to have one anti-India hate piece in like six months. They didn’t think much about it, and just believed whatever they read.

But now, there is an anti-India hate piece in a major western newspaper almost every day. This barrage is forcing Western readers to think about India a lot more. And before long, they will figure out the most obvious thing. The liberal press lies every day about everything else. They lied about the lab leak theory, about Hunter Biden’s laptop, about everything. So of course they are lying about India as well.

To be effective, the liberal elites realize they must win back a shred of our confidence in them. So what better way than to write the occasional article praising India and pretending to be fair. The sense of validation will bring back Indian readers from their “post anger” phase. Western readers who might be puzzled by the constant vilification of India would be reassured. The liberal media is fair to all sides. See?

Don’t fall into this trap. The enemy is just baiting the hook, putting a bit of cheese on the mousetrap. They are trying to get us to bite. They are going to hit us with propaganda that is a hundred times worse. And they will use one or two such articles to create a facade of fairness. It is a show trial. They want us to take the defendant’s chair and act like they are giving us a fair hearing. They want us to validate them as the arbiters of truth and justice.

Don’t play their game. Because they are our enemies.

Amanatullah Khan is officially a BC! Read why the Delhi Police declared the AAP MLA a ‘history-sheeter’ and what BC means

Controversial AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has officially been declared as BC or Bad Character by the Delhi Police, a day after he was arrested for clashes that erupted in Madanpur Khadar, Delhi, during the anti-encroachment drive.

According to Delhi Police, Khan was declared a “history-sheeter” and “bad character” on March 30 and has more than 18 FIRs registered against him. Police claim that Khan is declared a ‘history-sheeter’ and a ‘Bad Character’ because he is a habitual offender and has serious cases such as land-grabbing and assault lodged against him.

On March 28, a proposal was issued by SHO Jamia Nagar to make Amanatullah Khan a bad character of Bunch-A, which was approved by the DCP.

On Thursday this week, Khan was arrested for protesting against the anti-encroachment drive conducted by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). A case has been registered against the AAP MLA under sections of rioting and obstructing the government work and has been sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail.

Earlier yesterday, a fierce ruckus ensued after locals attacked the anti-encroachment team of MCD that had reached Madanpur Khadar to remove illegal encroachments. Violence broke out as protesters pelted stones at the anti-encroachment team that had come to vacate illegal establishments. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to control the crowd. AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was also present at the occasion and was accused of instigating the crowd against the anti-encroachment team. A case was registered against him, along with 6 others, for rioting and obstructing the government work.

Khan’s wife, who is handling his Twitter account, shared a video of the AAP MLA following his arrest. “The lathi-charge by the police on the people opposing the BJP’s “bulldozer system” is unconstitutional. We are against the anti-people policies of the BJP, I will always raise my voice for the rights of the people, no matter how many times I have to go to jail for this.”

Past antecedents of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan

Pertinently, Khan has a chequered history of indiscreet utterances and criminal behaviour. In April 2021, Amanatullah Khan threatened violence against Swamy Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, the chief abbot of Dasna Temple over his alleged remarks against Prophet Muhammad. AAP leader Amanatullah Khan is also the chief of Delhi’s Sunni Waqf Board.

In a video posted by the Okhla MLA, he warned, “We are here with several Imams (Islamic clerics) from various parts of Delhi. We have decided to issue sermons during Jummah (Friday prayers) on April 9. Imams from across Delhi and other parts of India will give directions against the blasphemous comments made by Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati. They will demand his immediate arrest. As long as he is not behind bars, our agitation will continue.”

In 2020, Khan was in news for allegedly facilitating the settlement of Rohingya Muslims in Delhi’s Madnapur Khadar. Over 300 Rohingya Muslims were illegally settled in the Madanpur Khadar area of Delhi and are expanding their base, a report by Dainik Bhaskar said. The report also added that they were living illegally right across the cremation ground in Madanpur Khadar area of the national capital. Moreover, they were settled on the land of the irrigation department of the Uttar Pradesh government which is about 5.2 acres of land.

As per the report, they received all government benefits as well. Amid the lockdown, the Delhi Government and Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan have been providing a huge amount of rations to them. Madanpur Khadar falls under the Okhla constituency in New Delhi. As per the report, the illegal settlement of Rohingya Muslims had also stolen electricity through illegal means and also have boring water.

NDTV claims Congress party’s ‘One Family One ticket’ rule exempts Gandhis, Congress hits back saying ‘fake news’: Here is what we know so far

On May 13, Friday, controversial news outlet NDTV posted a Tweet saying that in an attempt to relaunch itself ahead of the crucial 2024 general elections, the Congress party has agreed on its much-touted “one family, one ticket” norm but with a clause that exempts the Gandhis.

NDTV, in its news report published on May 13 titled, “Congress Clears Key Reform With Loophole For Gandhis: 10 Points”, mentions that at the three-day “Chintan Shivir” or introspection in Rajasthan’s Udaipur beginning Friday, the Congress agreed that a “‘One Family, One Ticket’ rule will return with a rider that exempts the Gandhis.”

Screegrab of the NDTV report

“On the “One Family, One Ticket” rule, which bars more than one person from a family from contesting elections, the Congress has hinted in advance that this may spare the Gandhis – Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra,” says the NDTV report.

It further quotes the Congress leader Ajay Maken as saying when asked whether the Gandhis are exempted, “There is unanimity on this rule. If family members still want to contest them they should have been active for five years. They are active for the last five years. Priyanka Gandhi started working formally for the party in 2018.”

Screengrab from the NDTV report

The media outlet thereby concluded that the rule’s rider, which allows all three Gandhis to contest, indicates a loophole, reinforcing critics’ claims that the party will make just cosmetic changes at a time when a major revamp is needed.

Following NDTV’s Tweet, Congress and the party loyalists launched a scathing attack on the media outlet accusing it of spreading fake news. Youth Congress national president Srinivas BV, who himself has been caught umpteen number of times peddling fake news and unverified claims to target the Modi government, called it fake news, clarifying that the rule is applicable for everyone in the party, not just the Gandhi family. He wrote, “Fake News Alert ?. “Second member of a family can be considered for a party ticket only if he or she has already put in at least five years of work in the party’s organisational work”. The rule is applicable to everyone in the Party.”

Twitter handle @bole_bharat, which identifies itself as a ‘Fan of Congress’, slammed NDTV by referring to it as a ‘propaganda factory’. It Tweeted, “NDTV – The Propaganda factory. Congress leader @ajaymaken didn’t mention anything about Gandhi family while take about ‘One Family One ticket’ rule. The rule is applicable for all.”

Many other Congress loyalists also followed suit. They took to the microblogging site Twitter to call out the media outlet for propagating fake news.

The Congress members clarified that Congress leader Ajay Maken, in his address to the media, at no point in time named the Gandhi family and that the rule is applicable to everyone in the Party.

The Congress party has shared the video of the special Congress briefing on the discussions the party had during the three-day “Chintan Shivir” in Udaipur, and it appears that NDTV did misquote the party on the issue.

At around 11.30 minutes into the video, AICC general secretary Ajay Maken is heard saying that while the Shivir is keen to have the ‘One Family One ticket’ norm in place, an aspiring “second member of a family can be considered for a party ticket only if he or she has already put in at least five years work in the party’s organisational work”.

Although this rule technically qualifies all three Gandhi scions to run for office, it is also true that Ajay Maken did not mention the Gandhi scions during the briefing. Moreover, this rule will be applicable for all members of the party. It is evident that the information provided by NDTV is clearly based on assumptions.

As the Congress begins its three-day brainstorming session Nav Sankalp Shivir in Udaipur on Friday, the party announced that “major changes” are coming to the organisation, including 50% representation for persons under 50 at all levels, starting with the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

Prior to the meeting, Maken said the aim of the Shivir is to change the way Congress functions as an organisation. “We are going to make some big changes in the organisation,” he said, adding that the party’s opponents have been faster than the Congress in catching up with the new tools of democracy. “Now the party will use the new tools of democracy more efficiently.”

Anti-Hindu Delhi riots accused Sharjeel Imam applies for bail a day after Supreme Court stays sedition law

A day after the Supreme Court of India stayed trial in all sedition cases pending before courts across the country, the Anti-Hindu Delhi riots accused Sharjeel Imam has approached the Delhi High Court seeking bail on Thursday.

According to the reports, former JNU student and Islamist Sharjeel Imam, who is facing charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his role in orchestrating the riots in the national capital Delhi in February 2020, has approached the High Court on Thursday with a fresh application seeking bail following the Supreme Court order on sedition law.

Sharjeel Imam, the alleged mastermind behind the Anti-Hindu Delhi riots, has filed a plea through advocate Tanvir Ahmed Mir pleading for bail in the sedition case against him in the Delhi riots case. He has cited the recent SC direction on sedition cases to get the bail order.

“With this order, the trial court will find it easier to grant bail, which wasn’t the case earlier,” the petition read. It is important to note that Imam is accused of being the mastermind of the February 2020 riots, leaving 53 people dead and over 700 injured.

In the petition, Tanvir Ahmed added that he would appeal to the Delhi High Court and seek immediate bail for Sharjeel Imam, who has been in custody for over two years now. The petition said Imam has been in custody since January 2020, and the Allahabad High Court had granted him bail in another case.

The bail plea also claimed that the instant FIR was registered against Imam on January 25, 2020, with four other FIRs across multiple states for the speeches attributed to him.

The instant FIR was initially registered for the offenses punishable under sections 124A (punishment for sedition), 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence), 153B (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration) and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the IPC and later section 13 (punishment for unlawful activities) of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was added.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court stayed trials in all sedition cases pending before courts across the country until the government concludes its promised exercise to re-examine and re-consider the provisions of Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code. The Supreme Court had directed the Centre and states not to register any fresh FIRs invoking sedition charges until the law is reviewed.

A bench comprising the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, Justice Surya Kant, and Justice Hima Kohli held that all pending trials, appeals, and proceedings with respect to charges framed under Section124 A be kept in abeyance.

Supreme Court refuses to stay the survey of disputed structure of Gyanvapi Mosque, CJI to first read the case file before passing order

The matter of survey at the disputed structure of Gyanvapi in Varanasi has reached the Supreme Court. After a Varanasi court dismissed a petition by the Muslim side to stop the survey and ordered to complete videography of the structure by 17th May, now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking a stay on the survey. The petitioner mentioned the case in court on Friday 13th May 2022, where the petitioner sought an order from the court to hear the matter expeditiously and maintain the status quo. However, the apex court refused to pass an immediate order, saying that they would first look into the case file.

Seeking an urgent intervention from Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi pleaded for a status quo in the case pending before the Varanasi civil court. It is notable that on Thursday 12th May 2022, the Varanasi civil court directed a day-to-day survey of a mosque to inspect, conduct videography and collect evidence regarding the existence of Hindu deities inside the mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

Ahmadi submitted, “A survey has been directed in relation to the Varanasi property. This is covered under the Places of Worship Act. Now, the court has ordered a court commissioner to conduct a survey. This has been a mosque since time immemorial.” The advocate requested the apex court to order a status quo, but the bench refused to do so without going through the matter.

The Chief Justice of India responded, “We have not seen the papers. We don’t even know what is the matter. I don’t know anything, and how can I pass an order? I will read and then pass orders. Let me see.”

The Varanasi court on Thursday rejected the plea to change the court-appointed advocate commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra for conducting a video survey of the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex and also ordered the completion of the survey task by May 17.

Earlier on May 6, the committee of Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi had said that it won’t allow videography inside the mosque, as ordered by a court. S M Yasin, joint secretary of Anjuman Intejamiya Masjid Managing Committee, had stated that no ‘non-believer’ would be allowed to enter the mosque. “The survey and videography should be restricted to the Kashi Vishwanath temple premises”, he had said.

Kashmiri Hindu demonstrators lathicharged and attacked with tear gas shells during protests demanding justice for Rahul Bhat

Kashmiri Hindu protesters were on Friday lathi-charged and attacked with tear gas shells during the protest against the targeted killing of a Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat.

A bevvy of Kashmiri Hindu supporters had hit the streets demanding justice for Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat who was killed by Islamist terrorists yesterday in Kashmir. The protesters blocked the highway and staged protests against the killing of Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit who was killed in a targeted attack on Thursday this week.

The demonstrations saw participation from government employees and families of Kashmiri Pandits living in Budgam to mark their protest against the administration over the killing of Bhat.

The participants also demanded that the governor Manoj Sinha speak to them about the increasing spate of targeted attacks against the minority Hindu community in Kashmir.

We have been sitting here since yesterday and protesting peacefully. He needs to come here and address us. We had given an ultimatum. We were beaten with sticks. We were protesting peacefully and they beat us,” a protester was quoted as saying by ANI.

“If the Administration can lathi-charge and tear gas the public, then could they not have caught the terrorist yesterday?” said another protester Aparna Pandit.

Besides, members of the Kashmiri Pandit Employees Association had also staged a protest demanding justice for the slain Kashmiri Hindu Rahul Bhat. The group also demanded their safe relocation.

Protesters in Sheikhpora threatened mass resignation if they were not provided with security.

“LG administration should provide us security, else we will resort to mass resignation from our respective posts,” Amit, a Kashmiri Pandit said.

Kashmiri Hindu Rahul Bhat killed by terrorists in Budgam

In another dastardly incident of targeted killing in Jammu and Kashmir, terrorists have killed a young Kashmiri Pandit named Rahul Bhat at Chadoora in Budgam.

In the incident that took place on May 12, Thursday, two Islamic terrorists fired bullets at Rahul Bhat, who is a clerk in the Tehsildar’s office. Reportedly, the youth was working in his office in the Chadoora area, when the terrorists barged in and opened fire on him at point-blank range. Bhat sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar, where he died a little while later.

West Bengal: Safizul Islam pretends to be ‘Rahul Sarkar’ to entrap girls, arrested for rape, abduction and trafficking

On May 6 this year, a man named Safizul Islam was arrested in connection to the rape, abduction and trafficking of at least 15 women in Siliguri city of West Bengal.

As per reports, the accused hails from Gossaigaon town in the Kokrajhar district of Assam. Safizul Islam, who worked under the alias of ‘Raju’ and ‘Rahul Sarkar’, reportedly befriended women with a false identity. He then entrapped them under the pretext of love and got married.

Thereafter, he would sell them to other men. Following the disappearance of 3 women, two complaints were lodged at Bhaktingar police station. Another complaint was registered against the accused at the Siliguri Women’s Police Station.

During the probe, it was found that women had befriended Safizul Islam prior to their disappearance. He came to West Bengal from Assam to traffic women and was wanted in a total of four police stations. The accused was on his way to marry another victim, whom he had lured under the alias of ‘Vicky.’

However, his plans were foiled by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate and the Bhaktinagar Police. Safizul Islam, the son of Abdul Khaliq, was eventually arrested from Raniganj on May 6, 2022.

According to Siliguri Metropolitan Police ACP (East) Shuvendra Kumar, Islam has been remanded to 14 days in police custody. Another accused arrested in connection to the case has been identified as Uttam Sutradhar.

The police have successfully rescued 3 women, who were trafficked by the accused. The investigation is underway and the cops will soon file a charge sheet in the case.

Stone pelting in Jodhpur over an inter-faith love affair: How communal violence erupted in Rajasthan with 5 incidents in the past few days

On Friday, the Rajasthan Police arrested at least 12 people from two different communities after an incident of communal clash and physical abuse were reported in the Sansi area of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. People from both communities pelted stones at each other and disrupted peace and harmony in the area.

According to the reports, the clashes in Jodhpur began after people discovered a love affair between a boy and a girl who belong to two different communities. The Police confirmed that a young man had run away with a girl who stayed in his neighbourhood and that the families were in tension for the last 2 days for this reason. On Thursday, violence erupted over the issue as both sides attacked each other stones. “Both the families were enraged. Tensions escalated as both the communities began pelting stones at each other. There’s peace at the spot now”, Mangilal Rathod, ACP Jodhpur Police stated.

Police added that the boy had wan away with the girl and stayed with her for a couple of days. After two days, the boy and the girl returned to their homes and resumed their normal daily life. The matter was brought to light by one of the family members who spotted a photograph of the girl and the boy on Facebook. The Police said that the boy had himself posted the photograph. After this, people from both the communities got enraged and attacked each other with stones and glass bottles.

Incidents of communal are on the rise in Rajasthan, numerous cases of communal violence have been reported in the state in recent times.

Hanumangarh communal violence-

On May 12, VHP block president Satveer Saharan and other members suffered severe injuries after they tried to stop eve-teasers in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district. According to the reports, five members of the other community were detained by the Police in the case. Internet in the area has also been suspended.

Hindu boy killed in Bhilwara-

On May 11, tensions prevailed after a 22-year-old Hindu boy named Adarsh Tapadia was stabbed to death by members of another community over a petty dispute in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district. The police registered an official complaint in the case and imposed an internet ban for 24 hours from 6 am in the area.

Jodhpur Eid violence-

On May 2, communal tension erupted in Jodhpur after the saffron flag was replaced with an Islamic flag on the statue of freedom fighter Balmukund Bissa at the Jalori Gate intersection. The Police used batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd. Internet services were also suspended. The next day, on May 3, fresh clashes erupted in Jodhpur between Police and members of the Muslim community after Eid prayers. The mob vandalized vehicles parked in the market and residential areas. Some police vehicles were also damaged.

Communal violence over Alwar Shiv Mandir-

On April 22, tensions ran high in Alwar after the Rajasthan government demolished a 300-year-old Shiv Mandir on the pretext of development in the area. The administration used a bulldozer to bring down the temple. The ancient Shiva Linga in the temple was cut out using a drill, and the old sculptures were broken during the demolition drive. The BJP and its affiliate organizations had denounced the operation and organized an Aakash rally.

Karauli Hindu News Year bike rally attacked-

On April 2, communal clashes erupted in Karauli after a bike rally organized on the occasion of the Hindu New Year allegedly met with a stone-pelting incident as they passed through a Muslim-dominated area of Hatwara Bazar, leading to a confrontation between two groups. The clashes led to arson as shops and vehicles were set ablaze, while over two dozen people sustained injuries. The police imposed Section 144 in the area and also suspended mobile internet services. A curfew was also imposed for the next three days.

In the current case, the Police have arrested around 12 people from both communities for engaging in the communal clashes. While the stone pelting has ceased, the Police have deployed heavy staff in the area to ensure that peace and harmony is maintained and that no such violence springs up again. Further investigations are underway.

Corrupt dynasty of Philippines, Sri Lanka and uncanny parallels: A cautionary tale and what India needs to do to avoid the same fate

If you have noticed something inherently unfair about how some countries are rich, their cities are clean and livable while some, including, sadly our own, is in many ways “third world”. The conclusion one might draw simplistically from that observation is that “white” countries somehow managed to master the trick. But then there are several poor white countries, in Eastern Europe, not all white countries are equally rich and more importantly, Asians, including Indians in the West do extremely well. Furthermore, there’s Japan that’s very rich.

But there’s another thing that most analysts are perhaps paid not to notice –corrupt, fascist, nepotist dynasties and the sycophantic ecosystem they spawn infect the third world much more than the rich West. India is not alone. The Philippines, a country many Indians hardly know of, can perhaps be called No. 1 and that’s quite an achievement considering the competition.

Ignoring the lazy intellectual explanation of “BJP too has dynasties” that we hear often, let us make one thing clear– it is not that dynasties, corrupt or otherwise, are inherently bad in a democracy. They have rights to contest too. Moreover, not just dynasts, anyone with a known name and face – be it a boxer, actor, TV anchor, sportsperson, or even a retired military general, instantly gets a head start in politics, whether we like it or not.

What we are specifically referring to is that subsect of the dynast caste – ones with success path carved out, mapped, and a vast, corrupt entrenched ecosystem in place to ensure they and only they can get ahead, even with zero merits. And once in power, they stay there for exactly the same reasons. They can boldly declare that seats will only be given on merits and not get “fact-checked” or mocked.

That’s the one we should be vary of.

It is in this context that developments in Sri Lanka as well as the recent Presidential elections in the Philippines need to be analysed. And it can give us a timely warning, even a sick feeling in the stomach that we too can be the next victim if we don’t watch out. Yes, we are not only not immune, but we are also genetically vulnerable.

Philippines election

Unlike events in SL, we hardly hear about the Philippines in Indian media. So let us look at that first. In the recently concluded elections, Ferdinand Marcos, son of the notorious dictator of the same name, who looted billions, has won a resounding victory. Even though a whole generation has grown up since the 1980s, many are scratching their heads. How can this happen?

Many respectable media outlets are attributing this victory to sustained fake and misleading propaganda on social media about the so-called “golden age of peace and prosperity” during the dictatorship. Naturally, the loot and plunder and tales of thousands of expensive shoes were brushed under the carpet.

We must be very familiar with some of the tricks used by the dynast – using handpicked, filtered statistics to boast about higher growth rates, for one. And the portrayal of a country at peace (they didn’t exactly call it “Idea of Philippines”, perhaps that was copyrighted), focus on growth etc. If you read the propaganda by leftist media and academia in India, you would also think the 60s, 70s and 80s were a golden era. Modi was handed over an India of milk and honey at peace with its neighbours to destroy. That a huge percentage did not even have access to a toilet, school, electricity or roads was brushed off by the brown-nosed media servants (thanks Tharoor) who started counting every pothole in 2014.

And Filipinos were told to judge the junior by his actions and not the sins of his parents. Sounds familiar? He obviously benefited hugely from the empire built in the “golden era” of corruption, fascism and repression. Just that it can be selectively cashed like our “has her grandma’s nose” & “I am Indira’s granddaughter” or disowned and hand-washed (“why blame Rahul for the Emergency?”) depending on the situation. After all, when you control the “fact-checking” frauds and media boot lickers that call themselves “fearless and independent”, you can get away with anything. That’s what Marcos Jr did. The first thing he did was visit his father’s grave. He knows why he won.

Yet another bizarre propaganda lie was that Leni Robredo, the main challenger with a reputation for clean hands, and from a much simpler family background was portrayed as an “elitist” and had to go around defending herself, while the corrupt dynast tried to portray himself as pro-poor! Again, that should sound very familiar to Indians.

By the way, here is some trivia! Marcos Sr did not think too much about his son – he even wrote in his diary that his son was “carefree and lazy”! And he too was sent to London to study!

All this can be debated and discussed till the cows come home. But the reality is that many Filipinos who wanted an end to corruption and were pinning hopes on Robredo woke up to the shocking reality of the return of Marcos! Bankers in Europe must be licking their palms because billions will now start flowing. West loves corruption in the third world.

Yet another aspect that should send a chill down the spines of Indians is that China is very pleased with the developments. Media reports are already talking about his Presidency being a “boon for China”. Naturally, Beijing too prefers corrupt elite dynasts to nationalist, son-of-soil leaders. Given vast and powerful Stalinist left ecosystem in India has made their preferences too very clear, one must worry about the future. Marcos Jr even said, “As a matter of fact, people from the Chinese embassy are my friends”! Sounds familiar?

The key question we should ask ourselves is, can that horror happen in India? What are we going to do to avoid that fate again?

The best answer I can think of is, stay alert to media propaganda by the corrupt ecosystem. Poor Pinoys didn’t. Stay alert to pseudo-intellectuals, leftist rags, elite academicians, rock-star central bankers, “eminent” historians and “concerned” civil servants, that, knowingly or otherwise, act as enablers of dynastic loot.

When you come across any narrative in the media that calls itself “fearlessly independent”, take that as seriously as the “Democratic” label most communist nations add to their names. That’s the “Father not hiding in the barn” statement. Do your own thinking. What do they stand to gain from the return of the “golden era”? Check their track record of “speaking truth” in the UPA era.

The Sri Lanka saga

When it comes to Lanka though, we are not short of “information”. Our “independent” media is flooded with news all carefully curated to make sure no one even by mistake concludes family rule (aka loot) and obedience to Beijing caused the problem in the first place. Retainers are busy on social media attributing the problem to everything they can think of except the obvious. Jairam Ramesh wants to blame “majoritarianism”. Wait for some other leftist intellectual to out-lick him, blaming Brahminical patriarchy!

Ajit Datta had an interesting comment – “Eminent intellectual logic: The Rajapaksas ruined Sri Lanka. And it will happen soon to India too if we don’t bring the Gandhis back”. Sadly, he was not joking. Dynasts and their servants have been predicting, even fervently hoping and praying that India should suffer Lanka’s fate. And their cure?! Bring back dynasty!

But I have a different prediction – Sri Lanka may very well be the first nation in this part of the world to successfully rid itself of corrupt dynasties. Yes, it took a crisis, but they may end up doing it. I wish them well.  I would be sad to see business as usual there.

And when they do that, they may realise that building a prosperous country doesn’t take white skin. It just needs a citizenry that is “woke” to dynastic corruption and perpetual rule packaged by its serfs as progressive, liberal, pro-poor, secular or whatever impressive-sounding label they can think of.
