Bihar: Thieves kill priest in Chapra, steal 13 idols and jewellery worth crores

On April 4, unidentified thieves killed a temple priest and stole 13 idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses worth crores from Ram Janaki Temple located near Jogi Baba Math on Chapra Mashrakh Marg in district Saran Bihar. When the thieves attacked the temple, 75-years-old priest Gorakhnath Das was present on the premises. The thieves killed him by strangulation and stole the idols and jewellery.

The villagers came to know about the incident on Tuesday morning when they reached the temple to offer prayers. They saw the broken idols and thrashed items across the temple premises and rushed to check on the temple priest in his room. When he did not open the door, the rest of the village was informed, and the police were called. The locals believe the priest might have identified the thieves after which he was brutally murdered.

As per a report by Deswa News, every year Jhanda Yatra takes place from the temple on Hanuman Jayanti. The flag used in the procession has gold work on it. The thieves, who seem to be well informed about the flag, came to steal but it was already moved by temple authorities. It used to be kept in a box in temple which was broken by the thieves.

The police initiated the investigation, and the dead body of the priest was sent for post-mortem. DSP Muneshwar Prasad Singh said in a statement that the crime would be solved soon. Contrary to the claims made by the locals about the idols, SP Santosh Kumar said in a statement that the idols were not made of expensive metal and were bought recently. He added the police were also checking if there was a land dispute.

Locals accuse police of inaction

Locals have accused police of inaction against the miscreants in the region. The business owners have alleged that the police have failed to nab the thieves in recent robberies resulting in an increase in the crime rate. Notably, a few days prior to the robbery in the temple, PN Jewelers in Kashi Market was hit by the robbers, and they fled with jewellery worth one crore.

Local Muslim residents were invited to break their Ramzan fast inside the walls of an ancient Hindu temple in Gujarat. The temple in Dalvana village, Banaskantha district, has opened its doors to Muslims for Iftar during the month of Ramzan.

Around 100 Muslim locals of the village in Vadgam taluka in Gujarat were invited to perform Namaz and break their fast at Varanda Vir Maharaj temple, a 1,200-year-old shrine with tremendous social and religious significance for the Dalvana community.

Pankaj Thakar, 55, the priest of Varanda Vir Maharaj temple, told reporters that this was the first time the temple land has been provided to Muslims for Iftaar.

Thakar said, “We have always believed in co-existence and brotherhood. Many times, the dates of Hindu and Muslim festivals clash, and we ensure that the villagers help in each of them. This year, the temple trust and gram panchayat decided to invite the Muslim Rozedars to our temple premises to break their fast.”

“We arranged for five to six types of fruits, dates and sherbet for over 100 Muslim Rozedars of our village. I personally welcomed the Maulana sahib of our local mosque today,” Thakar added.

Wasim Khan, a 35-year-old businessman from Dalvana, stated, “Our village is known for brotherhood among communities. We have also worked shoulder to shoulder with our Hindu brothers in their festivals. This time, the gram panchayat approached both Hindu and Muslim community leaders and gave them a proposal that we should break our fast this Friday in the temple. It was an emotional moment for us.”

Dalvana has a population of 2,500 people, As reports quote the 2011 Census, primarily from the Rajput, Patel, Prajapati, Devipujak, and Muslim tribes. Muslims consist of around 50 families who are mostly involved in farming and trade. The Varanda Vir Maharaj temple is a historic attraction in the area that attracts countless tourists throughout the year.

Muslims believe idolatry or idol worship, a practice Hindus follow, is the biggest sin. Any form of ‘idol worshipping’ is prohibited in Islam. The idolatry has been considered as the “worship of false gods” and is forbidden in Islam.

On April 9, it was revealed during the reality show Lock Upp that controversial comedian Munawar Faruqui has been married since young age and has a son too. However, the couple has not been living together, and the case is in court. Faruqui’s onscreen romance with fellow contestant Anjali Arora has been the highlight of the show for some time. Before the revelation, Arora had confessed that she had fallen in love with Faruqui.

The image was posted by a social media influencer Chetana on her Instagram account. The same post was shared on the show.

Initially, Faruqui admitted that it was him in the picture and it was real, but he refused to get into details. In her YouTube Live after the show, Chetana mentioned she had contacted someone from the show to get details, but they refused to make any comments. After that, she posted the image with query if anyone knew the relations between them. She claimed Faruqui did not inform the makers about him being married as well.

After Faruqui refused to talk about it, Kangana recalled the controversy involving her and Hrithik Roshan without taking his name. She said every woman at some point in life fall for a married man because of the story they create around themselves. “When you are young, such situations make you feel like you are the only one who can save him from his wife, but if you listen to the wife’s side, your ears may start bleeding,” she added.

Faruqui talked about the court case with his wife

After Kangana’s pep talk, Faruqui opened up about his marriage. He said the reason he did not want to talk about his marriage was that there was a legal case involved. He said they separated 1.5 years ago, and things have been difficult since then. After Kangana left, Faruqui said, “The person I was talking about, the one person I am doing everything for, is that kid.”

Anjali Arora confession

Earlier, on Friday’s episode, actress Anjali Arora asked Faruqui if he was irritated with her. He replied he had been irritated since day one. He said, “Now, if there is a problem, I have to endure it, and I am enduring it already. What else can be done?” Arora asked if he would visit her in Delhi, but he refused and said he had a lot of work outside the show.

Then Arora said, “I love You”, but Faruqui only blushed in response.

Munawar Faruqui’s controversial life

Munawar Faruqui has a controversial history. He was accused of making derogatory remarks about Bhagwan Ram and Mata Sita. Islamist outfit demands a ban on Joseph Vijay-starrer Tamil movie ‘Beast’: Read details

An Islamist outfit in Tamil Nadu has sought a ban on actor Joseph Vijay’s movie Beast, claiming that the film portrays Muslims are extremists.

According to the reports, the Islamist organisation Tamil Nadu Muslim League has issued a statement alleging that the film industry has always tried to create an impression that Muslims are terrorists and sought a ban on the movie – Beast.

“The film industry has always created an impression that Muslims are terrorists, as is often the case in Tamil films. We see many social organisations strongly opposing when a film mentions their caste identity or has names of caste leaders as film characters,” said party leader Mustapha.

He added that it is a matter of great sorrow that the scenes in the Joseph Vijay starrer movie portrayed as if only Islamists are engaged in a culture of bombing and gunfire and acting against the peace and sovereignty of the country.

The Tamil Nadu Muslim League has asked the state Home Secretary to ban the release of the film.

“It has been reported that the Beast movie features Islamists as extremists. Islamists currently observe fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. In this context, a problem will arise if Vijay’s Beast movie, which portrays Islamists as extremists, is released. Therefore, on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Muslim League, I urge Home Secretary SK Prabhakar to ban the release of the film Beast,” Mustapha wrote in the letter.

Earlier, the Islamic country of Kuwait had banned the film reportedly over anti-Pakistan content.

Besides Islamists, even the Tamil Nadu Milk Association had also sought a ban on special shows for the movie, expressing concerns over the wastage of milk by Vijay’s fans.

The movie ‘Beast’ is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and is produced by DMK family-owned Sun Pictures.

Days after a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader was arrested for playing ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ on loudspeakers without permission, the party announced to play the Hindu devotional hymn outside the office of the Shiv Sena.

The Background of the ‘loudspeaker controversy’

On April 2, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray warned that if the government was not going to decide anything about the loudspeakers in the mosques, he would put double loudspeakers in front of the mosques and chant Hanuman Chalisa. He made the remarks while addressing the annual Gudi Padwa gathering of his party at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

He had stated, “I don’t oppose one’s right to pray but the loudspeakers on the mosques must be removed. I request the government to get them removed. Otherwise, I tell this right now, we will put double loudspeakers to chant Hanuman Chalisa right in front of those mosques.””

A day later, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena played ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ at high decibels from loudspeakers, which were installed at its office in Ghatkopar in Mumbai. In a video shared by news agency ANI, a loudspeaker could be seen affixed to a tree outside the MNS office.

The Mumbai police then arrested MNS leader Mahendra Bhanushali for playing ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ on loudspeakers without permission. Following his arrest, Bhanushali informed that the Mumbai police took away his speaker. “But I’d like to say, in the coming times, ‘Jai Shree Ram’ will be played on loudspeakers,” he said.

“No one takes permission, it isn’t just me. So action should be taken on everyone if it’s taken on me. The police did their job. Raj (Thackeray) Sahab says, never say anything to the police. Action should be taken wherever loudspeakers are used,” he further added.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Shehbaz Sharif will likely be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. The combined opposition comprising PML-N, PPP and other smaller parties has already named PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif as a joint candidate.

The 70-year-old Shehbaz Sharif, younger brother of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is leading the opposition’s face to become the country’s next Prime Minister after Imran Khan-led government was dismissed in a no-confidence vote in parliament following weeks of political turmoil.

Shehbaz Sharif had led the united opposition’s fight against Imran Khan’s PTI-led government, which was dismissed on Sunday after failing to prove its majority on the floor of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif, who has served as the chief minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, has good ties with the Pakistan Army, unlike his brother Nawaz Sharif.

It is important to note that Shehbaz Sharif was imprisoned after a military coup in Pakistan in 1999. He later escaped to Saudi Arabia, only to return to the country in 2007. Shehbaz entered the national scene when he became the chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party after Nawaz Sharif was found guilty in 2017 of corruption and money laundering charges.

New govt will not take any revenge against political opponents, claims PM-elect Shehbaz Sharif

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Pakistani citizens to claim that the country has emerged from a serious crisis after the ouster of Imran Khan.

“The country and the House of Parliament was finally freed from a serious crisis last night. Congratulations to the Pakistani nation on a new dawn,” Sharif said.

Sharif has also promised that there would be no revenge against political opponents under the new government. However, he added that the law would take its own course, indicating legal action against the ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“We will not take revenge on anyone, we will not do injustice to anyone, and we will not put anyone in jail, the law will take its own path,” Sharif added.

Pakistan’s National Assembly is expected to reconvene on Monday, April 11, to elect the new Prime Minister.

In a midnight drama in Pakistan, Imran Khan was ousted as the country’s Prime Minister after losing the no-confidence motion in Pakistan’s National Assembly. Imran Khan joins the long list of Pakistani Prime Ministers who have failed to complete their entire tenure as per the official Pakistani constitution.

The joint opposition won the trust vote with the support of 174 members in the 342-member lower house, two more votes than the needed strength of 172 to remove the prime minister. Imran Khan was under fire for alleged economic mismanagement as his government battled depleting foreign exchange reserves and double-digit inflation.

After a drama lasting weeks, Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister of Pakistan is finally over as he lost the no-confidence motion in Pakistan’s National Assembly. Imran Khan joins the long list of Pakistani Prime Ministers who have failed to complete their full tenure as per the official Pakistani constitution.

Since Pakistan’s inception, no PM of Pakistan has managed to survive the full term, and Imran didn’t turn out to be an exception. This time, there was no direct coup by the Pakistan Army, and Imran was displaced by a show of opposition unity, and by America as per Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Pakistan Army, which had allegedly installed Imran as the PM of the country, didn’t come to his support as he lost the battle in Supreme Court and then the National Assembly.

In the run-up to the no-confidence vote, Imran Khan and his party colleagues repeatedly said that their government is being destabilized by a foreign power, namely the United States of America. They said that Imran Khan is being punished for visiting Russia ahead of the Russia-Ukraine war. However, this attempt to blame foreign powers didn’t work, and Imran Khan ended up losing his post as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the United States of America bluntly rejected Imran Khan’s allegations of a “foreign conspiracy” plotted in Washington to overthrow his government with the help of the Opposition parties, saying there is absolutely no truth to these claims.

The opposition parties in Pakistan had accused Imran of corruption and economic mismanagement, along with the prevailing high inflation and a weakening currency. While Imran tried to rally support around him through religion and by claiming a foreign conspiracy against Pakistan, eventually it wasn’t enough.

Now with Imran out of the way, the leader of opposition in the National Assembly and President of Pakistan Muslim League-N Shehbaz Sharif is all set to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has reportedly left the official PM house and headed to his personal Bani Gala mansion.

Ending a high political drama for the last several weeks that literally lasted till the last minute, the Imran Khan lost the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly just minutes before midnight, avoiding contempt of court proceedings by the Supreme Court. The trust vote was to take place by 10.30 AM as per the Supreme Court of Pakistan order, but the government refused to hold the voting for the whole day.

The no-trust vote was conducted by PMLN leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, immediately after both the speaker and the deputy speaker of the house resigned from their posts. PM Imran Khan didn’t attend the national assembly during the entire process. The moment the non-confidence motion was put to vote, the fall of Imran Khan govt became certain, as the ruling party does not have numbers. The united opposition had 176 members, more than then halfway mark of 172. Eventually 174 members voted in favor of the no-confidence motion, more than enough to remove Imran Khan as Prime Minister.

Before the trust vote was finally taken, the parliament session was adjourned several times in the day, with speaker Asad Qaiser refusing to put the motion of no-confidence moved by opposition to vote. He had gone to the extent of saying that he has 30-year-old friendship with Imran Khan, and he will not conduct the voting which the govt was sure to lose.

Last time the session was adjourned at 8.30, and it was announced that the session will reconvene at 9.30 PM, with the expectation that the voting will take place at that time. But the house didn’t reconvene till 11.30 PM Pakistani time. As there was a possibility that the voting will not take place today, the Pakistani Supreme Court had ordered to open the court immediately after midnight, to initiate contempt of court proceedings against the speaker and the deputy speaker of the house. It may be noted that the Supreme Court had ordered that the trust vote must take place by Saturday.

Prison vans and military troops were also placed in front of the national assembly, for possible arrest of the speaker and deputy speaker for contempt of supreme court.

However in a dramatic turn, the session was reconvened minutes before midnight, and speaker Asad Qaiser announced that he is resigning from the post. Before that deputy speaker Qasim Suri had also tendered his resignation.

Qaiser also requested former speaker and PMLN leader Ayaz Sadiq to taker of the charge as acting speaker and conduct the proceedings. Accordingly, Sadiq occupied the chair of the speaker and conducted the voting on the no-confidence motion. After ordering the vote, the house was adjourned for 2 minutes, which was reconvened at 12.02 AM on Sunday.

The trust vote was originally scheduled on last Sunday, but in a surprising move, deputy speaker Qasim Suri had dismissed the motion, refusing to put it to vote. Immediately after that, Imran Khan has recommended dissolution of the national assembly and announced fresh elections, which was accepted by the president. But the opposition had moved Supreme Court against it, the apex court had ruled the action of deputy speaker unconstitutional. The court had restored the national assembly on Thursday, and had ordered trust vote by Saturday.

A horrid start to the 2022 IPL continues for Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise in IPL history, as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) swatted them away with ease. Eventually, RCB defeated them with 7 wickets in hand and 9 balls to spare but the result was never in doubt since the time Mumbai lost their opening wicket.

Put into bat by Bangalore, Mumbai started well through their skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, reaching 49 without loss from the first 6 overs. However, that was as good as it got for them, as they started losing wickets steadily after that. They ended up losing 6 wickets for 29 runs in the next 7.3 overs as Hasaranga and Harshal Patel tied them down.

Thankfully for Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav saved their blushes, and his innings pushed Mumbai towards a decent total. Hitting 6 sixes and 5 fours in his knock, Yadav remained unbeaten on 68 off 37 balls and got Mumbai a somewhat competitive 154 at the end of their 20 overs.

In response, RCB were never in trouble despite losing their captain Faf du Plessis early. Youngster Anuj Rawat in association with veteran Virat Kohli made sure there were no nerves during the chase with their 80 runs partnership.

By the time Mumbai managed to find a way past Rawat and Kohli, it was too late and Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell eased RCB to a win and to 3rd position in the table.

Mumbai will now try to break their duck in this IPL against the Punjab Kings side while RCB will take on CSK, another side struggling to post their first win on the board.

Rajasthan: Kin of deceased Dr Archana Sharma moves SC seeking CBI/SIT probe in the case, suo moto action against erring police officers

The father-in-law of deceased gynaecologist Dr Archana Sharma moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) or SIT (Special Investigating Team) probe in the case of her suicide. He also urged the Court to take suo moto action against the erring police in this case.

The petition says that the police officers were actively involved and engaged with the culprits and were acting on the behest of the goons for obvious corrupt reasons. It further says that apart from the goons involved in the matter, the police officers are also equally responsible for the suicide of Dr Archana Sharma whose professional talent, skill, and calibre were well-known in the medical field.

The plea said that the petitioner is seeking appropriate orders and directions for a fair, impartial, and logical investigation of the case to be conducted either by the Central Bureau of Investigation or by a Special Investigating Team under the supervision and monitoring of the Court. The petitioner also sought initiation of suo moto contempt action against the erring police officers. He also requested the Court to quash the FIR registered against the deceased Dr Archana Sharma which also contains the name of her husband Dr Suneet Upadhyay.

Dr Archana’s suicide case

On March 28, a 22-year-old pregnant woman was brought to Anand hospital run by Dr Archana Sharma and her husband in Dausa. Though she was provided treatment and a child was delivered, her condition deteriorated and she died due to heavy blood loss. Reportedly, a crowd of around 200 people gathered at the hospital and charged Dr Sharma with medical negligence. An FIR was lodged against her under murder charges.

Unable to handle the stress, Dr Sharma hanged herself in a hospital room and left a suicide note in which she mentioned that the patient had died due to postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) post-delivery, a known medical complication.
