Bajrang Dal activists ransack ‘Aashram 3’ set, throw ink at director Prakash Jha for defaming Hinduism through series

On October 24, Bajrang Dal activists barged into the old jail premises of Bhopal, where the shooting of the third season of web series Aashram starring Bobby Deol was being shot. The activists ransacked the set and threw ink at director Prakash Jha on allegations of insulting Hinduism. The organization has objected to the name of the web series.

A video of the incident is being circulated on social media platforms where the activists could be seen ransacking the sets. The Police said that the activists also threw ink on director Prakash Jha. The Police intervened and controlled the situation.

Irshad Wali, DIG Bhopal, said that no complaint had been filed by the team that was shooting in the old jail premises or by the crew members who got injured during the incident. He said, “We are identifying those involved based on the videos available, and action will be taken against all those involved.” So far, the Police has detained four people in the case.

Sushil Sudele, VHP convenor for central India, argued that permission was given by the Madhya Pradesh government for the shoot to promote tourism. The govt did not give anyone permission to defame the Hindu religion. He objected to the portray of a Hindu guru in the previous seasons where he was seen abusing women.

Sudele said, “Does he have the guts to make such a film on a church or madarsa? Who does he think he is?” He added, “We have been assured that the title of the web series will be changed and based on it, we will review our stand.” Sudele further suggested Bobby Deol to learn from his elder brother Sunny Deol who has performed in several patriotic movies.

Ashram faced criticism on social media

When the web series Aashram’s first season was released on MX World, it faced severe criticism over the portray of Hinduism. Several social media users complained that the trailer portrays a rather negative picture and is targeted against the Hindu faith. The hashtag #BanAashramWebSeries had trended on Twitter. In December last year, the Jodhpur court issued notices to the makers of the series over a case filed against them for the wrong portrayal of Hindu saints.

Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup event on Sunday after they defeated India by 10 wickets in their opening match of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan chased down the target of 152 with 13 balls to spare. The men in green never looked in trouble and chased down the target comfortably.

Nobody had any good to say about the Indian team.

The Man of the Match award went to Shaheen Afridi for his 3 wickets.

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale advises Shah Rukh Khan to send Aryan Khan to a de-addiction centre to reform him

0

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale of State for Social Justice and Empowerment has said that Shah Rukh Khan’s Aryan Khan should be sent to a drug rehabilitation centre. According to him, Aryan Khan should be reformed instead of facing the ongoing investigation by the NCB.

Atwal said, “My request to Shah Rukh Khan is that Aryan Khan should be reformed. My advice is that he (Aryan Khan) should be admitted to a drug de-addiction centre for 1-2 months, this can make him free from drugs”

The Union Minister in his statement has requested Shah Rukh Khan that his son Aryan Khan should be reformed. He also advised that Aryan Khan should be sent to a drug-de-addiction centre for a few months to cure him of his drug addiction.

Meanwhile, Aryan Khan is lodged at the Mumbai Central Jail in connection to the ongoing cruise ship drug case. Khan has been held in custody from October 3 after drugs were found in a cruise ship rave party during a raid conducted by the NCB on October 2. Several arrests have been made by the NCB during the course of the investigation of the case.

NCB also visited the residences of Shah Rukh Khan and actress Ananya Panday following a lead from one of the accused in the drugs case. According to reports, WhatsApp chats between Panday and Aryan Khan contained discussions about procurement of cannabis (ganja).

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova falls for fake news spread by Islamism apologist profiled by Shekhar Gupta’s ThePrint: details

On Thursday (October 21), former Czech-American tennis player Martina Navratilova took potshots at the BJP government in India on the basis of fake news peddled by Islamism apologist profiled by Shekhar Gupta’s ThePrint, CJ Werleman, who is often branded as a journalist.

In a tweet, she wrote, “Quite the democracy, eh? Trying to catch up to trump, I see. But then Modi and trump were pretty chummy from what I could see… will Modi speak up against this man and his rhetoric? I doubt it…”

Screengrab of the tweet by Martina Navratilova

The comments by the 18-time Grand Slam winner was based on a piece of fake news, which was shared by columnist and ‘Islamophobia crusader’ CJ Werleman. He had tweeted a video of Pramod Muthalik, the chief of the Hindu activist group Shri Rama Sene, to allege that he called for violence against Muslims and the demolition of a mosque in Karnataka. “Leader of Hindutva group Sri Ram Sena calls for violence against Muslims and the demolition of Jumma Mosque in Karnataka,” he wrote.

The Truth

OpIndia had earlier reported how left-liberal news websites had falsely claimed that Pramod Muthalik called for a “Babri-like” demolition of the Jamia Masjid in Gadag in Karnataka. However, in reality, he had made no such claims. In a speech delivered in Kannada, he had said, “We had to fight for 72 years for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Finally, after 72 long years of struggle, Babri Masjid was removed, and we successfully built a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.”

He had added, “In the same manner, I can challenge you that the Jama Masjid in Gadag was a Venkateshwara temple. Take out the documents, and you will have proof that there was a temple. Like Babri Masjid, which was built on a temple, Venkateshwara Temple was one of the many temples demolished during Tipu Sultan’s rule, and Jama Masjid was built at the spot. We have proof, and we should launch a struggle.”

Therefore, Pramod Muthalik did not call for the destruction of the Jama Masjid in Gadag to make way for Venkateshwara temple and was simply laying his claim. He was only saying that the mosque was built after demolishing a Hindu temple, but didn’t say that the mosque should be demolished now.

Martina Navratilova and her comments on the Indian government

Earlier in May, Martina Navratilova had wished ‘good luck’ to India to remove PM Modi from office. She had tweeted, “Who is worse- trump or Modi? Hard to tell- but at least we got rid of our wannabe dictator. Good luck India!!!”

In October this year, she had mocked the comment made by Home Minister Amit Shah about PM Modi being the most democratic leader.

The tennis legend had also hailed ‘jorunalist’ Rana Ayyub as a ‘hero.’

The Supreme Court of India had trashed Ayyub’s ‘non-fiction’ book and observed, “The Book by Rana Ayyub is of no utility. It Is based upon surmises, conjectures, and suppositions and has no evidentiary value. The opinion of a person is not in the realm of the evidence. There is a likelihood of the same being politically motivated, cannot be ruled out. The way in which things have moved in Gujarat post- Godhra incident, such allegations and counter-allegations are not uncommon and had been raised a number of times and have been found to be untenable and afterthought.”

Note: Earlier this article identified CJ Werleman as columnist with ThePrint. However, it turns out, he was only ‘profiled’ by Shekhar Gupta’s ThePrint and has not written any article for them. We have updated the copy. Error is regretted.

Chhattisgarh: Congress leader assaulted on stage by other leaders for saying that CM Bhupesh Baghel should vacate the post for TS Singh Deo

Workers of the factions of the Chhattisgarh Congress led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and state health minister T.S. Singh Deo are now fighting their battle on street and stage and their battle has turned from political to physical. Party Pawan Agarwal was assaulted by other leaders of the party for saying that CM Bhupesh Baghel should resign so that health minister TS Singh Deo can become the Chief Minister as per an alleged rotational formula.

A video of the clash has gone viral which happened at the district-level workers’ conference of the Congress held in Jashpur on Sunday. When former district president Pawan Agarwal was speaking, all of sudden some people approached him to push him from the podium and stopped him from speaking. This led to a huge commotion as a large number of people climbed onto the stage to stop the assault. The fighting took place in front of the party’s state in-charge Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka who was present on the stage.

Pawan Agarwal’s speech was interrupted by party workers when he started saying that state health minister TS Singh Deo waited for two and half years to become Chief Minister, and now Bhupesh Baghel must vacate the post for him. Immediately after he said this, district president of Congress Minority Cell Iftikhar Hasan jumped on stage, snatched the mike from him and pushed him away. With this, a large number of workers jumped on the stage and joined the brawl.

Pawan Agarwal alleged that supporters of the party’s Kunkuri MLA had attacked him. Later he told media that TS Singh Deo and CM Bhupesh Baghel worked together to bring the Congress back to power in the state, and now Baghel should vacate his seat for Deo.

Hours after the brawl, members of Agrawal Mahasabha burnt an effigy of Iftikhar Hasan and demanded action against him.

Like every other state where it is in power, the Congress party is facing a crisis in Chhattisgarh also where T.S. Singh Deo has pressed for a change of leadership. Bhupesh Baghel was appointed chief minister in December 2018 on a rotation formula. There was an understanding that after serving as chief minister for two and half years he will leave the post for T.S. Singh Deo. This rotation formula was neither accepted nor clearly denied by the central leadership. Now T.S. Singh Deo and his supporters are reminding Rahul Gandhi about that rotational formula as time for the change of CM has already passed.

Uttar Pradesh: Samajwadi Party workers thrash their party leader for overtaking convoy, MLA Lucky Yadav and others booked

Samajwadi Party workers reportedly thrashed party leader Dr. Manoj Yadav on Sunday for allegedly overtaking the vehicles of state party general secretary Raj Narain Bind’s convoy in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, four persons have been booked in the case, including MLA Lucky Yadav, Bacchu Lal Yadav and Amit Yadav.

A video of the incident has emerged on social media platforms where a crowd could be seen beating up a man.

The scuffle broke out between SP workers and their party leader Dr. Manoj Yadav in Lakhauwa market in Malhani assembly constituency, after Manoj Yadav allegedly tried to overtake the vehicles of the convoy of the party’s general secretary Raj Narain Bind.

The convoy had gone to welcome Raj Narain Yadav on his arrival to the district, and the convoy was returning from Jaunpur when the scuffle happened. Reportedly, Manoj Yadav’s gold chain along with Rs16 thousand in cash were also stolen during the fight.

Dr. Manoj Yadav said that he had gone to attend the program to welcome Raj Narain Bind, and when Bind’s convoy reached Dhaniya Mau, Yadav’s car and vehicles of MLA Lucky Yadav also merged in the convoy. But during the travel, several times vehicles overtook each other wrongly. Manoj Yadav added that when the convoy stopped near the school at Lakhauwa Bazar, MLA Lucky Yadav got out of his vehicle and started arguing with him, which led to the scuffle. Manoj Yadav alleged that Lucky Yadav instigated his supporters to start a physical fight.

On the other hand, the MLA has denied any involvement in the fight. Lucky Yadav said that although his car was in the convoy, he was in a different vehicle, a white Safari, along with Raj Narain Bind, SP’s district president Lal Bahadur Yadav, and former district general secretary Shyam Bahadur Pal. He further said that when he heard about the scuffle, he immediately reached the spot and pacified the matter.

Study panel of Nepal home ministry says that China is trying to grab land by building fences, roads and buildings inside Nepal

A study panel of the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal has revealed that expansionist China is encroaching upon the territory of Nepal along the Nepal-China border in Humla district. The report claimed that the Chinese side put up wires and fencing in the Nepali land and also tried constructing a permanent canal 145 meters inside the Nepali territory to build a road. The structures were destroyed following the objection of Nepal’s Armed Police Force. The report has alerted the Nepal government that China is violating the 1963 Boundary Protocol between the two nations and steps to be taken to resolve the border dispute.

The report, submitted to Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand recently, identifies several problems near the Nepal-China border in Humla. In August, the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal had formed a six-member panel headed by Joint Secretary Jay Narayan Acharya to probe and report the land encroachment in Humla.

Jay Narayan Acharya has suggested in his report that the Nepal government should deploy a joint inspection group, inspection committee, and form an expert team to resolve the boundary issue with China. The panel was formed amid media reports in Nepal claiming Communist China is systematically grabbing the territory of this Himalayan nation in Humla district and has also erected new boundary pillars. The Nepal Democratic Youth Association and many other outfits also staged protests against land encroachment by China.

The Kathmandu Post, a leading newspaper of Nepal, reported that Jay Narayan Acharya pointed out problems from pillar numbers 4 to 13 in the report. The report has urged the government to include border issues in Nepal’s state policy for a long-lasting solution. “Such sensitive and bilateral matters related to the border need to be addressed through a permanent mechanism, but it is found that no such initiative has been taken,” the report states.

Exposing China, the report says that under the 1963 Boundary Protocol, the area from pillar number 5 (2) to the middle of the Kit Khola is marked as the boundary between the two countries and the territory belongs to Nepal. But the panel found the territory was illegally claimed by China where it put up fencing and constructed a tunnel.

There are as many as 10 border posts separating the border between Nepal and China in the Humla district and not a single post left which China has not either altered or tried to do. The panel is stated to have visited boundary pillars namely 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and gathered reports of other posts. The panel found the Chinese side having fenced and wired pillar 6 (1) which falls in the Nepali territory. It has been done to show its presence in the areas between pillar 6 (1) and pillar 5 (2). Again the pillar 7(2), on the Chinese side was missing. The Chinese side has erected fences towards pillar 10, which is 32 meters from Nepal-China common pillar 9(2). Nepali citizens are prevented from grazing their cattle in the areas between pillar 5 (2) and pillar 4.

The panel also visited Lapcha Bhanjyang with Pillar No. 12 where China has built as many as nine buildings in the village of Nepal. A local village council Vishnu Bahadur Lama had alarmed the government of Nepal about China grabbing a village in the country.

However, people and politicians of Nepal have been warning that China has a dangerous agenda to occupy the territory of Nepal. Last year Nepali Congress MP from Karnali Province, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi had led a team to investigate the encroachment of Nepal’s land in Humla. But the then Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli of the Nepal Communist Party was under influence of China. He remained busy in the anti-India campaign along with China instead of protecting the sovereignty of his nation. In his report, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi had accused China of encroaching on the territory of Nepal in Humla.

He said that eight pillars on Humla’s northern border were damaged or altered, namely Pillars No 9, 10, 11, 12, 5 (1), 6 (1), 7 (1) and 8 (1), and 12 to grab a large chunk of Nepal’s land. Chinese security personnel had even pelted stones on personnel of the Armed Police Force of Nepal when they went to inspect Pillars 6(1) and 5(1).

On October 24, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut shared a 12-second video from his Twitter handle and said that the witness in the Aryan Khan case was made to sign a blank paper by NCB. Based on an affidavit submitted by Sail, he said that there was a demand for huge money. He further added that CM Uddhav Thackeray claimed that these cases (Aryan Khan drug case) were made to defame Maharashtra. He urged the police to take Suo moto cognizance.

However, contrary to the claim, there was no visual of anyone signing on blan k papers in the video. There were some papers on a table, but it is impossible to tell if there are signed blank papers.

In the video, KP Gosavi was seen recording audio of Aryan Khan. For a split second, another man was visible in the video that was identified by the netizens as hotelier Kunal Jani. Mohit Kamboj, ex-President BJYM Mumbai, shared a screenshot from the video in which Jani was seen wearing a black tracksuit. Kamboj said, “Sanjay Raut Ji, now don’t delete this video! Who is this guy in black! Which party – politicians – film stars – minister he is associated with! Nawab Malik (NCP Leader) need to answer this!”

He further requested NCB to make the mobile records of Jani public, including WhatsApp chats. He said, “Which Cabinet Minister is his Best Friend who goes to his Restaurant Regularly With Full Protocol! Which Film Stars he is Associated with!” He added in Hindi, “Mr Nawab should be informed!”

Legal Rights Observatory has filed a complaint at Malad Police station to file an FIR against Nawab Malik and unknown to “conspire, threaten and intimidate trial court judge and NCB’s Sameer Wakhende probing Drug Cartel and role of Aryan Khan in giving political shelter to Drug Mafia.”

Who is Kunal Jani?

Kunal Jani is a hotelier who was arrested by NCB in September 2021 in connection to a drug case where actor Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend’s brother Agisilaos Demetriades was also accused. Demetriades was accused of running a drug syndicate. He was arrested by Sameer Wankhede. His name first appeared in the case linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials found a chat group of Jani and Rhea Chakraborty where drugs were being discussed. They had discussed drugs as doobies and buds.

Jani is the director of a Bandra-based restaurant. Interestingly  Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra and Ranjit Singh Bindra are partners in the restaurant. While Bindra is an accused in the Iqbal Mirchi case, Kundra is an accused in the porn racket case. Jani got out on bail on October 10.

The affidavit submitted by Sail

On Sunday, reports came out that Prabhakar Sail, an aide of KP Gosavi, was made to sign a blank panchnama by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Gosavi’s photo had gone viral after the NCB raid in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested. Gosavi was named as one of the witnesses in the case and currently absconding.

Sail has alleged in a written statement that he felt a threat to his life from Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director, NCB, after Gosavi went suspiciously missing. He alleged that he went on the said raid with Gosavi and was asked to sign blank papers as panchnama. He claimed to be unaware of the seizure. Wankhede, in reply to the allegations, said, “We will give a fitting reply.”

‘Don’t go check on their balla’: Wasim Akram gives advice to Pakistani players, tells them to maintain distance before match

Former Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram has advised cricketers from Pakistan to maintain their distance from the Indian cricketers ahead of the match between India and Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup. He advised them to not be in awe of the Indians and told them to not ask for their bats.

Talking about the pressure on the players before the match, Wasim Akram said, “They (Indians) are used to bigger crowds and they are senior players. I suppose that makes a lot of difference, they have played IPL. But my one advise to Pakistan team would be, before the game, you shake hand with the opposition, hello-hi karo, but don’t go check their balla (bats).”

He continued, “Don’t be in awe of them. After the game, you can go sit in their godi (lap), or they can sit in your godi. But before the game, keep your distance. Say hello, do your salaam, and then focus on your game, be with your squad. That’s what I don’t want to see.”

Wasim Akram could have been referring to the time in 2016 when Virat Kohli had gifted Mohammed Amir his bat on the eve of the match between India and Pakistan in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Shahid Afridi and Amir had gone to greet Virat Kohli while the Indian batsman was practicing in the nets.

Pakistan Prime Minister’s aide accuses India and USA of conspiring to ‘sabotage’ the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project

0

Pakistan Prime Minister’s aide and special assistant of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) affairs, Khalid Mansoor has accused the United States of colluding with India to sabotage the CPEC project, according to a DAWN report. Mansoor claimed that the US authorities plotted to block the multi-billion dollar project and economic lifeline of Pakistan.

Mansoor said, “From the point of view of the emerging geo-strategic situation, one thing is clear: the United States supported by India is inimical to CPEC. It will not let it succeed. That’s where we have to take a position,”

It is important to note that Islamabad happens to be the seventh-largest recipient of Chinese overseas development financing. Currently, 71 projects worth $27.3 billion are in progress under CPEC in Pakistan.

Western think tanks and commentators have said that CPEC is an economic trap bound to cause bloated public debt levels and increase Chinese influence in the domestic economy.

According to the Pakistan Prime Minister’s aide Mansoor, India and the United States are collaborating to “make attempts to manoeuvre Pakistan out of” the global infrastructure development plan BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) of the Chinese government. “There’s no way Pakistan will forgo any of its benefits. It has more than once burnt its fingers in (the Western) alliance in the past,” Mansoor said, further adding, “That’s the reason CPEC is seen suspiciously by both the United States and Europe… they view CEPC more as a move by China to expand its political, strategic and business influence,”

Mansoor also mentioned that he had a detailed discussion with the American embassy officials and that the United States is “taking stock of the economic and political consequences” of a withdrawal from the region might bring. He also revealed Islamabad’s plans of expanding the CPEC and including Taliban-led Afghanistan in the multibillion-dollar economic corridor.

Pakistan replaced Asim Saleem Bajwa with Khalid Mansoor recently as the new head of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Pakistan component of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative. The move was perceived as an attempt by Pakistan to please China as Mansoor is thought to be a favourite of Beijing. Reports had suggested that the change of chief was due to Beijing’s displeasure at the progress of CPEC projects in the country.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is known as one of the most ambitious projects of Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative. CPEC was announced with great fanfare in 2015 and looked upon as a ‘gamechanger’ for Pakistan’s economy.

While the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a programme envisioned by Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, wherein infrastructure loans are given to poor countries. In the event of failure to repay back the loan, China takes permanent control of the host country’s resources. It focuses on building airports, roads, seaports in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
