Copyright infringement? New packaging design of instant noodles brand Wai Wai leave netizens wondering

On Sunday, India Today journalist Shiv Aroor took to Twitter to share an image of Wai Wai instant noodles. In his tweet, Shiv Aroor said that he recently noticed Wai Wai’s subtle new packaging.

Even though the India Today journalist did not explain what exact “subtlety” was there in the new packaging, however, social media users, who noticed his tweet, understood what he was trying to convey.

The issue was simple. Wai Wai, a Nepal-based instant noodles brand produced from CG Foods, had changed its earlier ‘green and yellow’ packaging to a new ‘yellow’ packaging of its noodles. For any ordinary individual, the colour change of Wai Wai noodles packaging is not a pressing issue. However, for some of its consumers, it was a grave error committed by manufacturers of Wai Wai.

Probably as part of its latest marketing trick, the CG Group has changed the packaging colour of its brand to exactly look like its rival brand Maggi, the market leader in the instant noodles category manufactured by Swish-Food processing giant Nestlé.

As netizens noticed the new packaging of Wai Wai noodles, they were perplexed to see the striking similarities between the two products and wondered whether the Nepalese-brand was trying to make their product exactly look like Maggi. Social media users raised several questions on whether Wai Wai’s new marketing strategy to make their product look exactly like Nestle Maggi is an act of copyright infringement.

Intellectual Property Rights attorney Navroop Singh also pointed out how the new packaging of Wai Wai noodles was a copy of Nestle Maggi. He said it is a clear case of violation of the copyright, as Wai Wai is being attempted to pass off as Maggi.

According to a few Maggi lovers, Wai Wai changed its packaging to yellow to confuse its buyers to pick Wai Wai instead of Nestle Maggi. The similar packaging of the two brands would make the buyers unintentionally pick up Wai Wai instead of Maggi, said a frequent Maggi user.

However, netizens who swear by Wai Wai noodles had a completely different point of view to share.

One user said that there was no need for the brand to do this as it has a separate fan base for itself. He also said that people search for it specifically on the supermarket racks.

Similarly, another Wai Wai consumer said that the old packaging of Wai Wai was good enough and made it stand out. He also said that he has to look carefully now at the stores so that he does not pick up Maggi instead of Wai Wai.

The change in packaging of a noodles brand has evoked a negative response on Twitter so far, with both consumers of the Wai Wai and other rival brands are complaining about the unnecessary change. At present, it is known how Nestlé is reacting to this packaging design change by its rival brand.

Canada: Amul wins trademark case, to receive ₹19.59 lakhs as damages

India’s largest dairy brand, Amul, has been recently accorded trademark status by the Intellectual Property Appellate Board of Canada.

While speaking about the development, Amul CEO R S Sodhi tweeted, “Amul has well known Brand status all over World so no can use it in any product category. A win of 3.6 million farmers.”

Amul Dairy (also called Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited) had filed a case with the Federal Court of Canada over trademark infringement by a group called ‘Amul Canada.’ The fraudulent group is run by four individuals, namely, Chandu Das, Akash Ghosh, Mohit Rana, and one Patel.

The accused had created a LinkedIn page by the name of ‘Amul Canada’ and had listed themselves as employees of the company. The group blatantly copied the logo, and trademark of the Indian dairy brand. At the time of writing this article, three of the accused had deleted their Linkedin profiles. They had also not responded to the legal summons, forcing Amul’s lawyers to initiate an ex-partate motion for default judgement.

Amul Dairy contended that it had neither licensed nor authorised the group ‘Amul Canada’ to use its trademark and copyrights in any manner. The Federal Court of Canada barred the defendants from permanently infringing upon Amul’s trademark and and copyrights. The Court awarded CAD 10,000 as damages for actions contrary to Trademarks Act, CAD 5000 as damages for actions contrary to Copyrights Act and CAD 17,733 to be paid by defendants. In all, Amul Dairy received a total compensation of CAD 32,733 (₹19.59 lakhs). The brand was represented by S Majumdar and Co. in India while Riches Mckenzie & Herbert LLP represented the company in Canada.

It must be mentioned that Amul’s marketing arm, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has been supplying Amul products to the US for the past 22 years. It has also been exporting dairy snacks, ice cream, and Amul Kool to Canada for the past 2 years. Amul is the 8 largest milk producer in the world, with an annual turnover of ₹40K crores.

While speaking about the matter, R S Sodhi said, “This was possible only because we were alert and provided the supporting documents substantiating our claims. With this, we hope such orders would deter counterfeiters, infringers, globally, before appropriating someone etse’s IPR which has been built with a lot of effort and eventually becomes an identifier for the company or even a nation.”

New Zealander vlogger Karl Rock hires Delhi lawyer who ‘helped the Tablighi Jamaatis when they got into trouble’ to challenge his blacklisting

India based New Zealand origin vlogger Karl Rock, who has been blacklisted by the Indian government, has informed that to fight his case, he has hired a lawyer who had represented the Tablighi Jamaatis. Rock uploaded a video on his official YouTube channel on Sunday (July 11, 2021) titled: “Asking the Indian High Commissioner for HELP When My Wife Has COVID”, in which he confirms that a Delhi based lawyer who had “helped the Tablighi Jamaatis when they were in trouble, will be taking up his case and getting him off the blacklist so he could re-enter India”.

He says in the video that he will be visiting the High Commission of India, in Wellington, New Zealand to “appeal to His Excellency High Commissioner Mr Muktesh K Pardeshi to help me get back to India because my wife has COVID for a second time.”

It is rather interesting that the lawyer who tried to absolve the Tablighi Jamaatis who had embarked on a Jihad against civility, decency and the laws of this country ever since the Tablighi Jamaat fiasco came to the fore, will now be fighting for the vlogger who MHA blacklisted for visa violations such as doing business on a tourist visa, taking part in anti-CAA protests in the country and also hurting religious sentiments via his youtube videos.

Tablighi Jamaat and its deplorable conduct

It becomes imperative to reminiscence here how after emerging as a ‘superspreader’ of the Wuhan Coronavirus, the Tablighi Jamaat’s had exhibited exceptionally deplorable conduct. While they were being transported from Nizamuddin for their treatment, they spat on roads during the bus ride. After being shifted to quarantine facilities in Delhi, they engaged in unruly behaviour with the staff and doctors. The occupants made unreasonable demands for food, misbehaved and abused staff members and spat all over and on persons working/attending to them, including doctors. They also started roaming around naked in hospital premises. And, as if all this was not enough, that the Tablighi Jamaat members sexual harassed medical staffs, defecated in inappropriate places, threw urine-filled bottles inside the covid centres, basically trying to do all it takes to deliberately flout law and order during the testing times.

Karl Rock blacklisted by MHA for violating his visa conditions repeatedly

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had said that the New Zealand origin vlogger Karl Rock was blacklisted as he was a ‘habitual offender’. MHA officials were quoted by India Tv as saying tha Karl Rock had in the past, visited restricted areas in India like Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir without permission (restricted area permit for foreigners) and made several videos there.

The official had further informed that Karl Rock earlier had a tourist visa, but it was converted to X2 visa after his marriage to an Indian national. Under X2 visa, foreign nationals are not supposed to indulge in business activity, which he did by creating content on YouTube and getting monetary benefit from it.

His first tourist visa was valid from 2016 to 2018. He got another tourist visit from 2018 to 2023, and then an X2 visa from 2019 to 2024, after marrying an Indian national Manisha Malik. Karl Rock flouted the tourist visa rules and published his book “Indian Survival Guided”. He visited restricted areas which are not allowed on a tourist visa. Moreover, he covered the CAA protest on YouTube which was also a strict no on an X2 visa. 

For the uninitiated, on 19 December 2019, he had posted a ground report video on YouTube, where he and his wife had participated in anti-CAA protests in Delhi. It is clearly a violation of visa norms, as foreign nationals are not allowed to participate in political activities in India.

Furthermore, the MHA official informed that Karl Rock uploaded videos on his YouTube channel, one of them titled “Do Indians eat beef? Guide to eating beef in India” which posed the risk of disturbing social and communal harmony in the country.

MHA officials said: “Karl Edward Rice, has been restricted from entering India till next year, due to violating the terms and conditions of his visa. He was found doing business activities, on a tourist visa and also violating certain other visa conditions”.

Karl Rock had spent months in Pakistan

The vlogger had on July 9 informed that after he went to stay in Dubai and Pakistan for some time, he found that his Indian visa was cancelled, and when he went to Dubai to get the visa renewed, he was told that he has been blacklisted by the Indian government.

It is interesting to note that his India visa was cancelled when he was staying in Pakistan for several months, a country he had left abruptly just three years ago because the ISI was watching him suspecting him of being a spy.

Rajasthan shame: Alwar emerges as a hotspot for crime against women as more cases of rape including that of minors surface

Days after a 12-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped in the Ramgarh area of Alwar, two separate cases of rape have now come to light from the same region.

On July 4, a 19-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang-raped by 7 men, before being dumped on the roadside. A case was registered with the MIA police on July 5. According to the victim’s brother, the girl had gone to look after the cattle in their house at around 11:30 pm. At that time, three accused, namely, Tahir Ali, Saddam and Sajjid were drinking nearby. They abducted the victim and took her to Tahir’s house, where each of them took turns to rape her.

The victim was then taken to Saankjala village, where she was raped against by Tahir’s aides Wasim and Parvez. She was further raped by Chatur and Arbaaz in the Diwakari village of Alwar. The ordeal lasted for several hours, starting from the night of July 4 to the morning of July 5. While speaking about the case, a senior police official said, “We have now asked DSP (South) Om Prakash Meena to investigate the case. Medical examination of the girl was over and her statements are pending.”

Besides, a minor girl aged 16 was also abducted and raped in the Ramgarh area of Alwar. A case was registered on Thursday (July 8) after the victim was kidnapped and raped by several people in Kishangarh bas. The cops informed, “Villagers had caught three persons in this connection. Father of the girl was intimated by the police.” Reportedly, the villagers had caught 3 accused but the girl’s father had complained about police inaction. Om Prakash Meena has however assured that the victim’s statemennt will be recorded after her medical examination.

Alwar witnesses a drastic rise in rape cases

Earlier, a 12-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped by three youths on June 29 at a village in the Ramgarh area of Alwar in Rajasthan. The minor girl had gone to feed fodder to cattle on June 29 at around 9 PM. The accused, identified as Aazad, Waseem and Razzak, grabbed the minor girl and dragged her away from her home. The police said that the minor girl was gang-raped by the three youths and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anybody.

The minor girl, who was in a state of shock, did not share the incident with her parents. However, the parents of the girl noticed her being dull and enquired about her wellbeing. Finally, on Friday, the girl narrated the incident and informed her mother that three persons gang-raped her. Later, the girl, along with her family, visited the police station and lodged an FIR in this connection under appropriate sections of the POCSO Act and the IPC.

In another incident, a 20-year-old girl from Alwar was gang-raped for two years after the police failed to act on her complaint filed in 2019. As per reports, the first incident took place in 2019, however, the police failed to take any action against the perpetrators leading to a series of assaults on the victim. The girl in April 2019 was on her way to appear for an exam when she was kidnapped by a group of men. The victim was then taken to a secluded spot where she was made to consume a drink laced with sedatives. The girl fell unconscious after which she was gang-raped.

The victim had approached the Malakhera police station in Alwar in May 2019 itself to register a case against the perpetrators, however, the police failed to file an FIR or take any action. One of the perpetrators then sent her a video of the incident and blackmailed her for leaking the video. Over the next two years, the accused persons kept sexually exploiting her repeatedly by blackmail, threatening to release the video of the incident.

Alwar, close to Mewat, is the hotbed of organised crimes

Mewat region, which falls over Rajasthan and Haryana, has been a hotbed of organised crime, cattle smuggling and illegal Rohingyas.

Earlier in February 2020, a gang-rape incident with a married woman was reported in a village in Tawadu, Mewat. The woman was abducted in September 2019 and held captive until she broke out of her captivity in on January 15, 2020. She had accused five men of kidnapping and gang-raping her for months. The woman alleged that while she was held captive, she was administered drugs by her captors and gang-raped. She also alleged that her kidnappers shot pornographic videos and threatened her of releasing them on the internet.

In September 2020, a 15-year-old teenager was abducted, drugged, and subsequently raped by 3 men—Ismail, Irshad and Sahir. The girl was gang-raped and tortured for over 28 hours in Pinangwa village of Nuh. The accused were known to the girl. According to the victim, when she had gone out in the morning to relieve herself, one of them, Ismail, lured her into going with him in a millet field nearby where he raped her. About 2 hours later, another one, Sahir came who raped her. Later, Irshad came and forced himself on her. The girl in her statement had said that she was drugged by the men before they raped her. 

In October last year, a terrifying incident of attempted love jihad and forced conversion of non-Muslim into Islam came to the fore with the blood-curdling murder of a 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar in Faridabad. She was shot dead in broad daylight by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad earlier this week. One of the two assailants, Tauseef was harassing her and making advances at Nikita. She had filed a complaint of molestation and harassment against Tauseef last month and a compromise was reached later.

An FIR was filed by Nikita just a day before her murder, against the accused Tauseef harassing her and trying to convert her to Islam. The shocking incident was caught on camera, visuals of which had gone instantly viral in the aftermath of the brutal killing. Touseef and his accomplice Rehan were arrested by the police. The prime accused of Tomar’s murder, Touseef, belonged to Mewat, a region infamous for rampant abductions, rapes, and forcible religious conversions of Hindu and Dalit women into Islam by the radical Muslim inhabitants.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States of America created quite the flutter on social media recently after they shared photographs of individuals who had received an opportunity to pursue an internship and the space research agency.

While inviting applications for internship, NASA shared the photograph of Pratima Roy, an Indian American, along with others and it is her image that has caused the flutter. The photograph showed Roy with Murthis of Hindu Goddesses on her table and the wall plastered with photographs of Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Such overt expression of Hindu piety irked quite a few self-professed ‘intellectuals’ who were not happy with the devotion that Roy bears towards her Gods. Such ‘intellectuals’ resorted to questioning her ‘scientific temperament’, which one would assume is more than competent, since she earned the opportunity to intern at NASA.

Some even accused NASA of destroying ‘Science’.

The more pompous ones questioned why do Hindus need to surround themselves with Gods and Goddesses, which is equivalent to questioning why do fish need to live in water. They even questioned why NASA had decided to choose that particular image. Ashok Swain appears to have deleted his quoted tweet since then.

There are numerous other comments with regards to Roy that make the pulpable Hinduphobia abundantly evident.

All of this only serves to demonstrate the pervasive Hinduphobia that persists. It is quite obvious at this point that if the photograph of a Christian woman or a Muslim had been shared by NASA with the religious symbolism of their personal faith, then it would not have attracted such similar reactions.

There has been great discussion recently regarding Hinduphobia and its implication in institutions. Many have denied that such a phenomenon even exists, even though noted individuals such as former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has highlighted the Hinduphobia she encountered during her career.

Ashok Swain, one of the ‘intellectuals’ who had the most problem with the Hindu faith of the NASA intern, is an notorious Hinduphobe who had claimed that ‘Hindu supremacists’ were involved in the Capitol Hill riots with ‘White Supremacists’. The person he claimed was a ‘Hindu supremacist’ was actually a Christian. Also, there is no evidence that the Chrisdtian man was involved in any manner of violence at all.

The argument about ‘rationality’ and ‘scientific temperament’ is moot here since we are speaking of NASA and one certainly has to possess the required scientific skills to earn an internship there. Furthermore, Science and Religion do not share an antagonistic relationship in Hindu faith.

Srinavasan Ramanuja, for instance, one of the greatest mathematicians to have ever lived credit his knowledge to visions from his Goddess. He is known to have famously said, “An equation for me has no meaning, unless it represents a thought of God.” He credited his achievements to Mahalakshmi of Namakkal, a family Goddess.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), an institution that has given the country cause for a lot of pride in recent times, has a long tradition of its chief offering prayers at a Temple before the launch of every significant space mission. K Sivan, the head of ISRO, is himself a devout Hindu, as are a great many of top Indian scientists.

UK: Woman sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering ‘paedophile’ husband for allegedly abusing their children

On Friday (July 9), the Chester Crown Court in the UK sentenced a 59-year-old woman named Corinna Smith to life imprisonment for murdering her husband with a boiling liquid last year. The woman had attacked her husband after learning that he had sexually abused their children. She has to serve 12 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

As per reports, the accused woman learnt from her daughter that her 80-year-old husband Michael Baines sexually abused her children in their formative years. Smith was taken aback and decided to teach her husband a lesson. On July 14 last year, she boiled two kettles of water and poured them into a bucket containing 3 bags of sugar. The accused went to the bedroom of the house, where her husband was in deep sleep. She then proceeded to pour the boiling mixture of sugar and water on him. The incident took place in Neston near Liverpool in the United Kingdom.

The woman’s husband, Michael Baines, suffered burns to 36% of his body. He was later admitted to the Whiston Hospital Burns Unit, where his condition was stabilised in the ICU. The thick, sticky and viscous nature of the sugar-water mixture caused tremendous damage to the skin of Baines. In all, he spent a total of 5 weeks in hospital before succumbing to the injuries on August 18, 2020. Reportedly, the woman had a son by the name of Craig who committed suicide in 2007. Prior to his death, he was in a state of distress and had attacked been to prison for assault.

Planning and Execution of the Crime

Craig had confided in his mother that the person he assaulted was a paedophile, who had sexually abused him. When Corinna Smith learnt from her daughter that Baines used to abuse Craig and her, she sought to take revenge from her husband. During the trial last month, Smith had contested the murder charge and argued in favour of manslaughter due to loss of control. However, the jury had found her guilty of murder for the meticulous planning (boiling two kettles of water for 13 minutes).

It was also noted that the accused wasted time in contacting the neighbour 7 houses away instead of contacting the ambulance directly. Nevertheless, the neighbour called in the ambulance after the accused confided in him that she might have killed her husband. He had also rung the police and waited until the officers arrived. The police discovered Baines in extreme pain in his bedroom. “I am badly burned. I’m burned all over. She poured boiling water all over me. I just want to die,” he said while being taken to the hospital.

Proceedings in the Chester Crown Court

Queen’s Counsel Mark Rhind noted, “The prosecution case is that her actions were deliberate and considered, that whilst she would obviously have been very upset and distressed about what she had heard, the evidence will demonstrate that she was in control and acted in anger and to extract vengeance for what she believed that Michael had done. We say that she intended either to kill Michael or to cause him really serious harm and so she is guilty of murder.”

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Hughes said, “Smith killed her husband Michael in such a painful and cruel way. To throw boiling water over someone when they are asleep is absolutely horrific. To also mix three bags of sugar with the water showed the determination she had to cause serious harm…It left Michael in agony and rather than call the emergency services she wasted time by going to a house nine doors away to tell a neighbour, who she wasn’t close to, what she had done. Michael was an elderly man who fought for his life after the attack but sadly in the end he passed away.”

Gurdaspur lynching case: Army man Deepak Singh was brought back to the Gurdwara to kill him alleging blasphemy, sixth accused arrested

Army personnel Deepak Singh Thakur, who was lynched inside a Gurdwara in a village near Gurdaspur in Punjab, had gone out of the Gurdwara after drinking water, but he was brought back by the accused from a nearby area to kill him. Deepak Singh had entered the Gurdwara to drink water after getting off from a bus at the wrong bus stop, where he was accused of indulging in blashphemy.

SP Harvinder Singh talked to OpIndia and gave details about the case. He said that Jaspinder Singh, Granthi, Gurudwara Sahib noticed Deepak Singh in the Gurudwara premises. He told Deepak to leave immediately, which he did. Later, when other members of Gurudwara, including the main accused Daljit Singh, came, he informed them about Deepak Singh and told them that he suspected blasphemy. Allegedly, they had found some pieces of bricks and stones near the door.

After hearing this, they then went out of the Gurdwara to find Deepak Singh. They located him in front of another Gurdwara in the area, and brought him back on a two-wheeler at around 6 pm. CCTV footage has emerged which show that Deepak was brought back on a motorcycle by two men, and he was seen sitting in middle between the two men.

CCTV footage also shows Jaspinder Singh and Daljit Singh Kashmiri slapping Deepak in front of Gurudwara Tehel Singh. He was standing by the road when the accused arrive on a two-wheeler, stop near him and slap him. After that, they dragged him onto the motorcycle, forcefully made him sit on it and brought him back to the Gurudwara premises, where he was allegedly lynched. Gurjit Singh, Harjeet Kaur and Darkirat Singh are from the same family and manage the Gurudwara located at Tibri Chowk.

Sixth accused arrested, sent to juvenile home

In the meantime, the sixth accused in the case had been arrested by Gurdaspur Police. As the accused has been identified as a 16-year-old minor, he was sent to a juvenile centre after presenting him in the juvenile court in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The accused is a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar Avenue Colony, Tibri Road Bypass, Gurdaspur. SSP Dr Nanak Singh informed that the accused was arrested from his residence.

Other accused that have been arrested by the Police include the main accused Daljit Singh Kashmir alias Bobby, Gurjit Singh, Harjeet Kaur, Darkirat Singh and Jaspinder Singh. Reportedly, a Special Investigation Team was formed by the SSP in the case. SP Harvinder Singh, DSP Sukhpal Singh and the station in-charge, Sumeer Singh, are part of the SIT.

Deepak Singh Lynching Case

As per reports, Army personnel Deepak Singh Thakur returned home from his post in Arunachal Pradesh on the night between July 1 and July 2. He accidentally stepped out of his bus on the wrong bus stand. He went to the Gurudwara to drink water, where he was later accused of alleged blasphemy. Deepak was mercilessly lynched in the Gurudwara premises. When Police was informed, they rushed to the spot and took Deepak to the nearest hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Police had been rejected blasphemy since the beginning of the investigation. However, the radicals kept alleging that blasphemy had happened, and are justifying the murder.

Benedetta, an erotic lesbian nun drama by Paul Verhoeven, the 82-year-old director of Hollywood blockbuster movies like Basic Instinct and Showgirls, was premiered at the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival on Friday night to great fanfare. Though the movie, which revolves around a steamy relationship between two lesbian nuns in a convent, was described as a cinematic masterpiece by many viewers, it did not go down well with others.

As per reports, a particular scene in the movie where a wooden effigy of the Virgin Mary is being used as a sex toy especially, leading some to accuse the maker of blasphemy.

The maker, in turn, lambasted his critiques. “I do not understand really how you can be blasphemous about something that happened… You cannot basically change history after the fact. You can talk about that was wrong or not, but you cannot change history. I think the word blasphemy for me in this case is stupid,” he said.

The movie is said to be an adaption of an acclaimed non-fiction book by Judith C. Brown, “Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy.” In the movie, the Belgian actor Virginie Efira stars as Benedetta Carlini, a 17th-century French nun who communicates directly with Jesus and who falls in love with a farm girl saved by the convent, staring Daphné Patakia. 

The movie revolves around the lesbian nun couple’s explicit love affair with plenty racy sex scenes, including one where a character uses a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary as a dildo.

When asked by one reporter how Verhoeven managed to pull off the scene involving using an effigy of Virgin Mary as a sex toy, the maker remarked: “Well, you saw the movie.” The director has never shied away from in-your-face sexual content, from “Basic Instinct” to “Elle.”

When questioned about the unabashed nudity shown in the movie, Verhoeven added, “Don’t forget, in general, people, when they have sex, they take their clothes off. So I’m stunned basically by the fact that we don’t want to look at the reality of life. Why this puritanism has been introduced — it is in my opinion wrong.”

NIA raids multiple locations including a Darul Uloom in Kashmir Valley in terror funding case

As per reports, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has raided multiple locations in Kashmir Valley in connection with terror funding case. Some alleged accused persons have been arrested in different cases. Reports suggest that the raids took place in Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla. A Darul Uloom affiliated with Darul Uloom Lucknow, in Nawabazar in Srinagar was one of the locations raided by NIA along with Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF. Adnaan Ahmad Nadvi, son of Noor Din Bhat, a resident of Hawal who is the chairman of Darul Uloom, was arrested for further investigation.

In the Anantnag district of South Kashmir, raids were conducted at several locations, including Pushroo Achbal, Magray Pora Achabal, Sunsooma Achabal with the support of J&K Police and CRPF. Some important documents and laptops were also seized by NIA for further investigation. According to The Kashmir Walla, arrested accused include Javid Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Shaban Mir (23), resident of Sunsooma Achabal, Umar Bhat, son of Nissar Bhat, a resident of Magray Mohalla, Owais Ahmad Baht, son of Nissar Ah Bhat resident of Magray Mohall Achabal, Taveer Ah Bhat Son of Gul Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Goori Mohalla Achabl and Zeeshan Amin Malik, son of Mohammad Amin Malik, a resident of Pushroo Nowagam.

Notably, eleven government officials were recently dismissed on the charges of terror connection including two sons of Hizbul chief.

Former Samajwadi MLA gives ‘peshab’ threat to police, claims he made police drink urine, booked

A video has gone viral on social media where former MLA from the Samajwadi Party, Vijay Singh, can be heard telling a police officer that when he was in power, he used to make policemen drink urine and they should be mindful of it. The video was shared on Twitter by Shalabh Mani Tripathi, adviser to UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The former MLA has also been booked in connection with the matter for threatening the police. He apparently resorted to threatening the Police after his candidate lost the block pramukh election.

The comment by Singh comes on the heels of the incident in Lakhimpur where an entire police team was suspended for failing to carry out their duties. Uttar Pradesh government had decided to suspend the entire police team working in the Lakhimpur police station after two men allegedly tried to disrobe a Samajwadi Party leader on Thursday.

The victim had alleged that the police was present, yet did nothing. Consequently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the suspension of all policemen from Lakhimpur police station.
