Tanishq removes controversial advertisement glorifying ‘love jihad’ following social media outrage

A massive outrage broke over various social media platforms with users calling for the boycott of the jewellery brand Tanishq for their latest advertisement which showcased a Hindu woman married into a Muslim family, preparing for her baby shower. Heeding to criticism, the controversial advertisement which was accused of promoting ‘love jihad’ has been pulled down from YouTube.

Earlier today, the company faced a severe backlash from social media users, who accused the organisation of glorifying and promoting ‘love jihad’ through its latest commercial. #BoycottTanishq was amongst the top trending items on microblogging website Twitter as netizens called for boycotting the brand for peddling soft bigotry.

The ad released on October 9 shows a pregnant Hindu woman walking with her mother-in-law, who distinctly belonged to the Muslim faith. The Muslim mother-in-law then leads the Hindu daughter-in-law to the garden area, where the god-bharai ceremony has been set up according to Hindu traditions.

Shocked, the daughter-in-law asks the mother-in-law why the ceremony was set up in that manner since “these things are not followed in the house”. To that, the smiling mother-in-law tells her that while this might not be their tradition (since they are a Muslim family), making daughters happy is a universal tradition.

Social Media outrage over the controversial Tanishq advertisement

The advertisement sparked massive outrage on social media websites, with more than 17,000 users tweeting with the hashtag ‘#Boycott Tanishq, calling for the boycott of the jewellery brand for promoting the concept of ‘love jihad’ and hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

The outrage was partly fuelled by the recent case of an 18-year-old Rahul Rajput, who was brutally hacked to death by his Muslim girlfriend’s brother and his friends. The Muslim girl’s family, particularly her brother, were opposed to their inter-religious affair. Further, in reality, there have been innumerable cases where Hindu women are forced to convert to Islam and marry Muslim men.

Recently, family members of a 20-year-old girl have alleged that one Salman entrapped their daughter, forced her to convert to Islam and marry her. In September, an aspiring model Pooja committed suicide after her husband allegedly forced her to adopt Islam.

India Today’s Rahul Kanwal hails Bollywood for hounding Arnab Goswami after blaming Republic TV for a scam India Today is accused in

0

Despite being called out so many times in the recent past for the lies, India Today and its so-called senior ‘journalists’ like the channels news editor Rahul Kanwal seems to be feeling no remorse at all. Rahul Kanwal took to Twitter today to celebrate the fact that Bollywood big-wigs had joined hands to gag Arnab Goswami by approaching the High Court. Interestingly, this brazen celebration of attempts to stifle the free press comes only days after India Today blamed Republic TV for a scam that the former is accused in.

Tweet by Rahul Kanwal

Rahul Kanwal took to Twitter and expressed his exhilaration by saying: “Glad that Bollywood finally found the collective will to take on toxic news channels”. He audaciously furthered that the “crazy anchors and editors should know that defaming people and levelling charges without evidence has consequences. About time”.

Rahul Kanwal published this celebratory tweet after Bollywood’s leading associations and production houses filed a suit in Delhi High Court against Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, Pradeep Bhandari, Times Now, Navika Kumar and Rahul Shivshankar earlier in the day. As per reports, the suit has asked them to refrain from making ‘irresponsible, defamatory and derogatory remarks’ against Bollywood in wake of the mysterious death of Sushant Singh Rajput and subsequent drug scandal that has emerged.

Four cine-associations and 34 production houses including the ones owned by Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Rakesh Roshan, Salman Khan and his brother Sohail Khan, Ajay Devgn and Aditya Chopra amongst others have filed the suit.

Interestingly, while celebrating this brazen attempt by the Bollywood cartel to stifle freedom of the press, Rahul Kanwal wrote towards the end that “crazy anchors and editors should know that defaming people and levelling charges without evidence has consequences”. This assertion is slightly preachy considering only a couple of days ago, India Today had tried to run an entire campaign trying to blame Arnab Goswami and Republic TV for a TRP scam that India Today was an accused in.

How India Today has been caught in his own web of lies

Speaking about India Today, their vexation towards Republic aggrevated after the recent TRP ‘scam’ issue left the media giant riling in pain. India Today landed up making a fool of themselves after going hammer and tongs against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami following the press conference by Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh regarding the TRP scam case.

India Today had almost lost its mental balance following Mumbai PC’s claims, only to learn later that the complained filed by BARC had actually named India Today TV for the crime, not Republic TV. The FIR filed in the case had been accessed by Republic TV, which showed that India Today was named in the FIR, not Republic TV as alleged by Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

India Today, left red-faced, lied and twisted the statement of the very witness who had indicted India Today to exonerate themselves and implicate Republic TV. However, their lies were summarily exposed by OpIndia.

As if this much of humiliation was not enough, that later it was learnt that India Today was asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,00,000 after their explanation did not satisfactorily explain the increase in India Today viewership by the BARC Disciplinary Council.

Basically, it was India Today’s dwindling TRP and its own web of lies clubbed with Republic TV soaring viewership which pushed the channel and its journalists like Rahul Kanwal, Rajdeep Sardesai etc to indulge in such chicanery.

Republic TV has been at the top of the media food chain since the very day it was launched. For over 100 weeks, Republic TV has been number 1 in terms of BARC ratings and recently, Republic Bharat also beat AajTak to become the number 1 Hindi news channel. Outraged by being unseated as far as viewership is concerned, India Today and its anchors like Rahul Kanwal and Rajdeep Sardesai have targeted Republic TV over and over again – sometimes with fake news and other times with hollow tweets like the one written by Rahul Kanwal.

In the end, however, what they have only managed to do is give Arnab Goswami and his channel Republic TV even more publicity since they can’t seem to not talk about the channel or its owner. Perhaps, these rants by India Today and its anchor can be considered a classic example of how, in blinded jealousy, one tends of shoot oneself in the foot – repeatedly.

Why such desperate attempts to bring down Trump and Modi?

“Í prefer Trump to Hillary”, I told a German friend in the run-up to the US elections in 2016. There was a little pause and then she said, “You are the only person I know who says this openly.” I knew that my view was politically incorrect though I did not understand why German media was so virulently anti-Trump. It was as anti-Trump as it had been anti-Modi before the 2014 elections.

At that time, German media called Narendra Modi a Hindu fundamentalist and racist, and predicted that Modi would be extremely bad for India. He turned out to be good for India, especially for the poor. So media might be wrong in regard to Trump, too, whom it portrayed as incompetent and misogynist, whom no self-respecting American could possibly vote for.

But why is media now in 2020 again so virulently anti-Trump? Didn’t he prove himself by doing a lot of good things? Without him, ISIS might still be going strong in Syria, the economy looked up before the Coronavirus came from China, the situation in the Middle East improved tremendously, even with North Korea great strides were made, China was put in place to a certain extent. But all this does not seem to count.

So what is his main fault? It may have to do with Islamic terrorism. Donald Trump was the first major politician who put “Islamic” before terrorism in 2016, and the phrase “Islam is a religion of peace”, which was a favourite under Obama, went slowly out of use.

History is proof that Islam is not a religion of peace, except maybe in a futuristic scenario when only Muslims remain on earth and all others have been converted or killed. This scenario is indeed the goal of Islam. It’s hard to believe that people could actually pursue this goal, but brainwashing from childhood works. It works also for Christians who also are taught that the great Creator will accept only Christians in heaven.

When I came a few years ago across an old article in Spiegel online from 2005, I realized that the project of Islamization is not only planned, but is, or was till recently at least, well on track. The title of the article was “The future of terrorism. What Al Quaeda really wants”. It is about the Jordanian journalist Fouad Hussein who had spent time in prison with al-Zarqawi and had managed to make contact with many of the network’s leaders. Based on correspondence with these sources, he brought out the book “al-Zarqawi – al-Qaida’s Second Generation”.

In it, he describes the terrorist network’s strategy for the next two decades from 2000 till 2020. The Spiegel wrote in 2005, “It is both frightening and absurd, a lunatic plan conceived by fanatics who live in their own world…”

What was this strategy? Al Qaida had planned to establish an Islamic Caliphate in seven steps all over the world. When I read this article in 2017, I was shocked by how closely they stuck to the program.

For example it was planned for the 4th phase between 2010 and 2013 that the Arab regimes will fall. How well they had timed it. Do you remember the euphoria among Western leftists about the Arab spring and fall of the regimes in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya? And the massive attempts to dislodge Assad in Syria?

The 5th phase from 2013 to 2016 predicted the establishment of the Caliphate. How could they plan ISIS and Baghdadi so correctly 15 years in advance? The 6th phase from 2016 to 19 was meant to see total confrontation between believers and unbelievers and finally, in the 7th phase there was supposed to be a “definitive victory” in a maximum 2 year long war, where the rest of the world will be beaten down by the 1,5 billion Muslims.

In its article from 2005, the Spiegel wrote, “The 20-year plan is based mainly on religious ideas. It hardly has anything to do with reality — especially phases four to seven.”

But now, in retrospect, we can see that all went according to plan till 2016, when Trump unexpectedly arrived on the scene. Even India had helped their agenda till 2014, by trying to divorce Islam from terror and instead blaming Hindus for it. It was a mischievous agenda, which even tried to put the blame for the Mumbai terror attack of 2008 on Hindus. It almost succeeded, if not one of the terrorists had been caught alive thanks to the bravery of Constable Tukaram Omble, who sacrificed his life for it.

But since 2016 the plan got somewhat derailed. Was leftist media so virulently against Trump because he would not collaborate with this agenda and would go against it? Was Modi so badly demonised because he was the first Hindu at the helm in India who would not further the agenda which was going into the right direction (from the Islamists standpoint)?

Even after Independence, Hindu tradition was denigrated and Hindus were apologetic about being Hindus. Islam and Christianity were presented as egalitarian and the better options compared to Hinduism with its “terrible caste system”. The vilification of Hindus and especially Brahmins was taken up worldwide with a feverish pitch. And though Modi still favoured Muslims for example in regard to scholarships, he also openly acknowledged his Hindu identity.

But there is one riddle: Why on earth would leftists want to further the Islamization of the world? Aren’t Leftists virulently opposed to religion and especially to the rigid, dogmatic Abrahamic ones?

I read an explanation, which made sense: after the collapse of the USSR, those so called intellectuals, academics and journalists, who had been groomed by USSR, were suddenly without patronage. Oil money came to their rescue. They still peddle their leftist agenda but are very soft on Islam and even work in tandem with them due to “gratefulness”.

Their agenda of creating chaos and fighting the “class enemy” fits the Islamic agenda. The radical left is ready to burn America or India if they are called out on the streets. So basically al Qaida’s program was still on track when it projected “total confrontation” for the years 2016 to 19. Right after Trump’s election victory, massive confrontation started, though not between believers and unbelievers, as there are still too few believers in the US, but with the explicit purpose of bringing Trump down, who did not view Islam favorable like his predecessor.

In India, too, confrontation increased ever since Modi came to power and non-issues were made into big, “controversial” issues, like CAA. The Delhi riots, too, were part of this “total confrontation”, and in India it was indeed between Muslims and Hindus, as Al Qaida had envisaged. The attempt to project Hindus as the instigators and perpetrators however failed due to too many proofs to the contrary, though media still peddled this fake narrative.

Since the claim of victimhood of Muslims has become less credible worldwide, ever since the West has direct experience of Islamists, the attempt is now to divide the Indian society on the basis of caste. Thanks to a Republic TV channel sting operation, the most recent plan to create bloody riots in Uttar Pradesh on the false claim of gang rape and murder of a Dalit girl by upper castes in Hathras was fortunately nipped in the bud. Yet western media, like German dw, prepared the ground for justifying riots against “caste oppression” in India through their biased, sensational reporting.

This recent attempt to create bloody riots failed, but in all likelihood it was not the last attempt. The program of Al Quaida will be pursued unless there is a change of heart of those who pursue and finance it.

It would mean radical Muslims too, realize that the great Creator of this billion years old universe with its unimaginably huge dimensions cannot possibly want that all humans follow the Quran or else they will be thrown for all eternity into hellfire. It would mean they realize that we humans have an inbuilt compass, our conscience, which points us to right behavior. This right behavior does not include killing your neighbor because he calls God by another name.

Espionage Archives: How India’s Communist parties received funding from the Soviet Union during the Cold War

With the fall of the British Empire, the Republic of India finally received its independence from European tyranny and set foot in the international stadium as a sovereign nation. However, this “sovereignty” was only for namesake, with India’s Grand Old Party allegedly taking funds from the Soviet Union in exchange for heavy influence of the Soviets on India’s foreign policy. At the time of independence, the world was split into two factions, Capitalists and Communists, both being represented by the Americans and Soviets respectively. The espionage agencies of the two countries, CIA and KGB, took it upon themselves to influence other countries and formed blocks according to their ideologies.

India, in particular, was of major interest to both the countries due to its vast population and the political potential it held. The country was assumed to be the only counter to the Chinese in South East Asia, since both the superpowers of that time were wary of Chinese movement and growth. Gradually, India became a playground for the espionage agencies of both countries, with the Soviet Union particularly interested in influencing the politics and media of the country.

While Indira Gandhi and Nehru, much like most of their cabinet ministers, were reportedly taking massive funds from the Soviets as per the Mitrokhin Archives, the two sections of the Communist Party of India- CPI and CPI (M)- gradually became mouthpieces of the Soviet Union in India, and undeniably took funding from the Soviets in the most bizarre ways possible- including through car windows during Delhi traffic! (Ref: Mitrokhin Archives).

In 2011, a declassified CIA document titled ‘The Soviets in India: Moscow’s Major Penetration Program’ opened a can of worms for India’s Communist parties and the Congress, with data of Soviet political interference and transactions being revealed to the public. According to the document, the Indian communist parties received funding through several kickback schemes, business transactions and direct cash payments. Some of the ways by which they received funds were:

Publishing house subsidies- The document reveals that the Communist parties received funding mainly through its publishing houses. Allegedly, the People’s Publishing House (a CPI owned publishing house) received Soviet books and propaganda material at heavily discounted prices (60-65%). Additionally, the publishing houses were also given interest-free loans which were stretched over a very long period. The sale of Soviet given books contributed 3/4th of PPH’s annual sales, that exceeded Rs 1 cr in revenue. Similar arrangements were made for other publishing houses run by CPI.

Advertisement placements- Advertisements were placed on CPI owned newspapers, and a hefty sum was given to the newspaper irrespective of the paper’s viewership. In 1984, the budget was set by Moscow at $60,000 for the same purpose.

Visitor’s expenses- The Soviets often paid for the travel expenses of CPI leaders to the Soviet union. Airline tickets, accomodation, etc were taken care of by the USSR government.

In return for such funding, the Communist parties peddled propaganda for the USSR government through its magazines and newspapers, and acted as agents of the Soviet government. According to Mitrokhin Archives, the Intelligence Bureau of India even intercepted secret communication between Moscow and one of CPI’s offices during the early days of independence. BN Mallik, the then chief of the IB said that the orders from Moscow to CPI consisted of plans to overthrow the elected government of India, which the Soviets considered to be “reactionary” in nature.

The IB had also allegedly penetrated itself into CPI’s Bengal and Madras units, to intercept the information given to the party from Moscow. However, with the KGB gradually growing influence in the government machinery, the espionage agency managed to turn the tables on the IB. In 1984, the CPI aided Moscow’s media infiltration program by gathering Left leaning journalists of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) and helping the Soviets lobby with them, and offer the journalists financial incentives in exchange of publishing Soviet propaganda.

Similarly, in 1985 the CPI aided Moscow’s nuclear disarmament program by gathering pro-communist scientists and academicians at the Indian Science Conference in Lucknow and passing a resolution in favour of nuclear disarmament. The glorious days of espionage and cold war, though over, have played a major role in shaping our history. Facts that were previously kept away from the public have started to trickle down to the population, making more people aware of the dark history behind major political parties.

0

Today, Allahabad High Court heard the petition filed by the Hathras Case victim’s family. The court has adjourned the hearing until 2nd November. Additional Advocate General VK Shahi, representing the Uttar Pradesh government before Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court said that the court will give a decision on the next hearing. Due to the sensitivity of the case and security reasons, no one other than those associated with the case was allowed in the court.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home Dept) Awanish K Awasthi, DGP HC Awasthy and other officers including DM and SP were present in the court along with the victim’s family. The main emphasis of today’s hearing was on the victim’s last rites done under the supervision of the District Magistrate and police personnel. The court first recorded the statements of the victim’s family. Hathras DM has stated that the decision to cremate at night was taken purely on the basis on law and order concerns and there was no pressure from the state government to do so.

Seema Kushwaha, lawyer of Hathras victim’s family said the victim’s family has demanded that reports of CBI inquiry should be kept confidential. They have also requested the court to transfer the case out of Uttar Pradesh. The family has requested for security till the case concludes.

On 1st October, a division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Jaspreet Singh has summoned the top officials to give updates on the case and asked the victim’s family to present their version of the case. The court had also ordered the administration to arrange for the transport and security of the family.

Background of Hathras Case

Hathras case, where a 19-year-old woman was strangulated, and later she succumbed to injuries on 29th September, has become a political battleground. There has been so much noise from the opposition and media houses that it has gained nationwide attention. According to several reports, there had been attempts to cause caste-based violence in the state using the said case. Connections with Naxals and PFI have emerged, and a Congress leader admitted on tape they were prepared for violence. A fake sister-in-law, who later identified as a professor from Madhya Pradesh, was also living with the family to allegedly ‘guide’ them how to speak to the media.

‘Speaking truth to power’ hysterics of propagandists masquerading as comics come crumbling down. Exhibit A: Kunal Kamra

Propagandist masquerading as ‘standup comedian’, Kunal Kamra yesterday posted on Twitter a picture of himself presenting the foul-mouthed Shiv-Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut with a miniature JCB, a vehicle that is used for construction and demolition purposes.

Raut was a guest on Kunal Kamra’s podcast. The so-called comedian shared the picture of the two with the message: “Best podcast shoot ever”. Kamra was seen holding a toy bulldozer with Raut, taking a dig at actor Kangana Ranaut whose office was demolished by the BMC, which is controlled by Shiv Sena.

Ranaut had made critical remarks against the Shiv Sena’s government in Maharashtra after Azaadi posters and graffitis were seen on the streets of Mumbai. ‘The Queen’ actor had then likened Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, drawing the fury of Shiv Sena, particularly Sanjay Raut, who was embroiled in a war of words with the actor and had called her “haramkhor” for airing her views. He later even coined a new definition of the expletive to defend his remarks. Amidst the controversy, BMC authorities showed unusual alacrity to raze down the actor’s Bandra office, citing alleged violations.

Kunal Kamra takes a dig at the demolition of Kangana Ranaut’s office

Not only did Kamra provide his platform for a politician who abused a woman and later defended his remarks, but he also normalised the abusive behaviour of the Shiv Sena leader and gloated over the felling of Kangana’s office in Mumbai which has been described by many as an act of vendetta by the Maharashtra government.

Ranaut today shared the picture of Kunal Kamra with Sanjay Raut on Twitter, saying that Mumbai witnessed a citywide power failure but the government was preoccupied with her. Kamra promptly responded back, making a derisive comment on Ranaut’s tweet.

Kamra’s tweet mocking Kangana’s misfortune reveals that the so-called comedian had no qualms with a political party exploiting its power to teach a dissident a lesson by bulldozing his or her place. His tweet, in fact, betrays his approval of the use of intimidation tactics by Shiv Sena to silence its critics.

It is also pertinent to note here that Shiv Sena has been among the forefront of the political parties who have not shied away from indulging in violence and vandalism to browbeat its detractors and even ‘stand-up comedians’ who are found making disparaging remarks against its politicians, cultural icons and other sensitive issues. Recently, Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik threatened legal action against comedian Agrima Joshua for her tasteless remarks against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

As the controversy erupted and Joshua found herself in hot water, the ‘stand-up comedian’ abjectly and profusely apologised to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state, while ensuring that he portrays the threats received by her from Shiv Sena supporters as those coming from the BJP men. In a separate incident, Shiv Sena workers had vandalised the shop of two individuals in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal because they dared to criticise Rahul Gandhi, Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar.

Woke comedians’ insincere support to ‘Speaking Truth to power’

However, none of these incidents elicits condemnation by these so-called bunch of ‘woke’ comedian. Instead, they make a beeline to secure Shiv Sena’s support and mount an attack against the BJP government. The excesses meted out by the regional political parties do not excite the so-called woke brigade. They turn a blind eye to the injustices carried out by the regional parties. Their commitment to the lofty ideal of ‘Speaking Truth to Power’ is exercised selectively, only when it comes to the BJP central and state governments. It is for this reason that these stand-up comedians not only give a free pass to the non-BJP governments but also defend and normalise their reign of terror and intimidation.

It can be safely assumed that Kamra has perceived Shiv Sena as its ally against the central government. Therefore, far from calling out their misconduct and immoral behaviour, he has revelled in mocking Kangana Ranaut over it. The fact that Kangana is an overt and unapologetic admirer of PM Modi and the BJP government at the centre only pushed Kamra to unrepentantly indulge in schadenfreude. For ‘woke’ comedians like Kunal Kamra, in their pursuit to delegitimise and discredit the Modi government and its supporters, such minor compromises over one’s moral principles and ideals and supporting violence and vandalism is a reasonable bargain.

NIA nabs terrorists Abdul and Nasir, had formed ‘Quran circle’ to radicalise Muslims to join ISIS, used to send Islamists from India to Syria: Details

0

On Wednesday, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) had arrested two people for having links with the Bengaluru-module of terror organisation ISIS. The duo has now been remanded to 10 days in custody on Thursday by a special NIA court.

The accused had been identified as 40-year old Ahamed Abdul Cader and 33-year-old Irfan Nasir. While Cader hails from Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, Nasir lives in Fraser town in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Reportedly, Cader worked as a business analyst in Chennai while Nasir was a rice merchant. The NIA had raided the residences of Cader in Chennai and Nasir in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The investigative agency has recovered electronic devices and other incriminating evidence.

Terrorist Abdur revealed the names of Cader and Nasir

They were also associated with another ISIS terrorist named Abdur Rahman who was earlier arrested on August 17. Rahman, an ophthalmologist by profession, was helping ISIS to propagate its nefarious designs in the country. NIA officials informed that Rahman had lived with ISIS terrorists in Syria in 2014 for about 10 days and was developing an application to help injured terrorists. He had revealed the names of Cader and Nasir to NIA.

ISIS terrorists funded trips of Islamists to Syria

The duo had funded trips of radical Islamists from India to Syria since 2013. They were also members of another Islamist outfit Hizbut-Tehrir and formed a group called Quran Circle to radicalise Muslims in Bengaluru and fund their trips to Syria to help other ISIS terrorists. Two radical Islamists, who went to Syria with their funding, were eventually killed.

In a statement, the NIA said, “Further investigations resulted in revealing a module wherein Cader, Nasir and their associates were members of Hizb-ut-Tehrir. They had formed a group called ‘Quran Circle,’ which radicalised gullible Muslim youth in Bengaluru and funded their visit to the conflict zone in Syria to aid and assist the ISIS terrorists.”

The arrest of Abdur Rahman

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has earlier arrested Abdur Rahman, an ophthalmologist working in Bengaluru, over connections with an Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP). The ISKP is a branch of ISIS which is active in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is a resident of Basavangudi, Bengaluru and is working as an ophthalmologist at MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, the NIA said in a note. During interrogation, arrested accused Abdur Rahman confessed that he was conspiring with accused Jahanzaib Sami and other Syria-based ISIS terrorists on secure messaging platforms to further ISIS activities.

Just wait for 6 months, you can demand ‘cut money’ after 2021 elections are over: TMC MLA to party workers

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Udayan Guha triggered a controversy on Friday while addressing party workers during a meeting in Nigamnagar area in Dinhata. Guha, who was was elected in 2016 to the State Assembly from Dinhata constituency in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, urged party workers to stop soliciting ‘cut money’ from people if they wanted to ensure the party’s return to power and future access to the profits.

In this context, the cut money refers to the bribe that local Trinamool leaders take from people in lieu of implementing government welfare schemes. His comments come at the backdrop of West Bengal Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place next year.

In a video that has now gone viral on social media, Guha emphasised, “We have lost the Lok Sabha elections. I and my party members are responsible for this. I will say this here- You have eaten (solicited cut money from people) in the past and will get opportunities to do so in future as well. Now, (for a change) let people eat (have their full share). If you try to eat now, then, then people will not give you the opportunity in future. “

BJP, slams Trinamool Congress over ‘cut money’

The BJP was quick to slam the Trinamool Congress party over its admission of profiting illegally from government schemes via cut money. BJP State Chief Dilip Ghosh said, “Mamata Banerjee had said that we cannot eat alone but need to share (the cut money). The party had said give 75% to people, eat only 25%. Udayan Guha is now telling (party workers) to eat less. There is so much competition within the party (to solicit cut money) that the public isn’t getting anything.”

TMC cries foul, claims nobody takes cut money

TMC leader and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said, “No worker of Trinamool Congress takes cut money. This is political propaganda (to tarnish our image) and it is meant to influence people into believing such a thing. TMC is a big family. If someone does something like this, action will be taken against him. Mamata Banerjee has removed several such people from the party.”

Mamata Banerjee admits to ‘cut money’ scam

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had remarked that ‘cut money’ taken by members of her own party, for implementing the welfare schemes of the government, ought to be returned to the public. “I do not want to keep thieves in my party. If I take action they will join some other party. Some leaders are claiming 25 per cent commission for providing housing grants to the poor. This should stop immediately. Return the money if any of you have taken it,” Banerjee had said.

As a consequence of her remarks, people across the state are up in arms against the elected Trinamool representatives and leaders in the area, demanding the return of the money they had paid as bribes.

Mamata Banerjee orders forensic inspection of truck tyres to prevent Coronavirus spread: Read details

In a bizarre move to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked administrative authorities on October 6 for forensic inspection of truck tyres incoming from other States. She was of the view that the moving vehicles coming from other States were the reason behind the rising of Coronavirus cases in Jhargram district.

During the course of an administrative meeting, she said, “We need to test the tyres of a few trucks which are entering the state through toll plazas. If the virus can be transmitted through clothes and shopping bags, then why not tyres?” Even though the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has informed that the infection spreads through the air, no studies have ascertained the spread of Coronavirus to moving truck tyres.

West Bengal CM observes the correlation between vehicular movement and Coronavirus spread

According to her, several vehicles have been coming to Jhargram district via Jharkhand from Mumbai, Chennai and other cities and States. The West Bengal CM, therefore, wants to conduct tests on tyres of trucks, which pass through toll plazas. Citing the example of her locality where 6 people of a family apparently tested positive for Coronavirus, she said, “From them, the disease had spread to 36 others. I had stopped the movement of vehicles on the road where the house was located because as vehicles move from one place to another, they can spread diseases. The tyres of vehicles can carry organisms, which can trigger diseases.”

Mamata Banerjee observed that the disease stopped spreading after the movement of vehicles were stopped. However, she claimed that the disease started spreading after restrictions on vehicular movement were lifted from the area on September 8.

Truck drivers to carry their own food, directs Mamata Banerjee

She has also asked for restricting the interaction between drivers at dhabas. She had also asked truck drivers, coming from other States, to carry their own food. Mamata Banerjee had directed officials to prepare a plan in advance to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection. “No matter what others say, Covid-19 is surely spreading through airborne transmission. We still don’t know till how far the virus is spreading through the air. Everyone is giving a different opinion. All we can do is to take precaution till the time a vaccine is developed,” Mamata Banerjee claimed.

‘Not as big as Hathras’: After Ashok Gehlot’s ‘raped girls not forced’ another Rajasthan minister makes an insensitive remark

Rajasthan Youth Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chandna said that the horrific death of temple priest in Karauli is ‘not as big as Hathras.’ He was visiting Karauli after an uproar as no leaders from the ruling political party visited the region when he made the insensitive remark.

When a reporter from Republic TV asked Chandna why no senior party leaders were on the ground to condemn the murder of the priest, he went into defensive mode. He said, “Yeh Hathras jaisa mamla nahi hai. Wahan baat alag thi, yahan baat alag hai. (This case is not as big as Hathras. The issue was different there, and it different here.)”

Temple Priest set on fire

Temple priest Babulal Vaishnav was reportedly set on fire at Bukna village in Karauli district of Rajasthan due after he stopped few people from encroaching the temple’s land. He succumbed to injuries on Thursday.

The police had arrested main accused one Kailash Meena and constituted six teams to investigate the case. The nephew of the priest has alleged that the administration was putting pressure on them to cremate the body of the priest on Friday night. CM Gehlot has ordered a CID-CB probe in the matter.

Congress evading from taking responsibility of law and order

Congress party is evading questions on law and order in Rajasthan. The case is indeed much different from Hathras as the accused in Hathras Case have already been arrested. However, in the case of the priest’s murder in Rajasthan, four of the accused are still absconding.

Not the first time the Gehlot government denied the seriousness of a case

This is not the first time that a leader from the Congress-led Rajasthan government has tried to tone down the intensity of a case. A few days back, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot claimed that the incident in which two minor girls from Baran were abducted and gang-raped was a small incident. He added that the girls went with the boys of their own free will. Gehlot, as well as state police, denied that they were raped. However, in a statement, the girls said that they were drugged and gang-raped.
