A Delhi court has granted anticipatory bail to journalist Vinod Dua in connection with a case registered against him for making defamatory remarks intending to create public nuisance through his YouTube show.
According to the reports, on Tuesday, the court asked the police not to take coercive steps against Dua till the next hearing on June 29 and asked Dua to join the probe and cooperate with the police.
Additional Sessions Judge Vineeta Goyal granted relief to Dua after the police said there was no need of custodial interrogation of Dua and no recovery was to be affected from him.
FIR against Vinod Dua
An FIR was filed against Dua in Delhi accusing him of misreporting the Delhi riots and also on charges of creating a public nuisance by false “contextual reporting”.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has registered an FIR against journalist Vinod Dua for circulating fake news through a YouTube video. The FIR was registered following a complaint by Delhi BJP spokesperson Naveen Kumar.
The complainant had alleged that Dua had tried to incite communal tension by asking people to step out in large numbers during the riots. He had also alleged that Dua misreported the Delhi riots and Anti-CAA protests while blaming the Prime Minister, Home Minister and BJP’s Kapil Mishra for the riots.
Vinod Dua provoked Indians after George Floyd incident
Just a few days back, controversial journalist and MeToo accused, Vinod Dua in his daily show provoked Indians to protest and riot in the same manner as witnessed in the United States, following the extra-judicial killing of George Floyd by a white police officer.
Taking cue from how violent protests could even make the elected US President hostage in his Presidential estate, Dua said, “We will want to see such people here too. We have 130 crore people after all. America does not even have that much population”.
In his concluding remarks, he had reiterated how the people in India had failed to display their anger against the mistreatment of minorities.
Amidst the constant bad news for the Indian economy, a piece of good news has emerged. US credit rating agency Fitch Ratings has stated in its recent report that the Indian Economy is expected to hit a tremendous boom during the next financial year.
Fitch Ratings, the world’s third-largest credit rating agency in the world, said in its recent report that the Indian economy is expected to grow at a rate of 9.5 percent in the next financial year that is 2021-22.
Corona virus pandemic
The statement of Fitch Ratings released in a report on Wednesday. Fitch Ratings has predicted that the Indian economy may report a decline of up to 5 percent in the current fiscal year 2020-21. The cause of this major decline is most importantly the coronavirus pandemic that led to the severe lockdown across the nation. The Fitch Ratings issued an APAC sovereign credit overview on Wednesday which estimated the economies of the Asia-Pacific region.
GDP growth will come back on track
According to the report, after the global crisis, the Indian economy will achieve higher growth rates than other countries in the “BBB” category. It stated that if India’s Financial sector does not go down by 2021-22 then it will witness a growth of 9.5 percent.
It stated, “The pandemic has drastically weakened India’s growth outlook and laid bare the challenges caused by a high public-debt burden.”
Largest lockdown tenure
Fitch Ratings referred to the countrywide lockdown in India that was implemented on March 25. It stated that the country has the largest lockdown load, stopping almost all economic activities. The lockdown was then extended continuously which began to open from May 4 with some conditions. But the number of coronavirus cases in the country is continuously increasing.
Measures by Indian government and RBI
The measures taken by the Central government and the Reserve Bank of India to improve the condition of the economy are also mentioned in the report of Fitch ratings. The RBI made monetary policy easier by cutting down policy rates. Apart from this, arrangements were made to increase liquidity through long term repo operations.
At the same time, the Central government announced a relief package worth 20 Lakh crore equal to 10 percent of GDP. Government debt was already at 70 percent of GDP in 2019-2020, much higher than the average of 42 percent of countries rated ‘BBB’. But now public’s debt/GDP ratio is expected to increase to 84 percent of GDP in 2020-21.
Even as the country is witnessing a calibrated re-opening amidst the ‘Unlock-1’ phase, there is a photo doing the rounds on the Internet which says that the nationwide lockdown is once again going to be implemented since June 15.
A snippet of a Hindi news channel claiming that the lockdown will be once again in force starting June 15 is being widely circulated on social media platforms. The message reads that the Ministry of Home Affairs has hinted towards enforcement of nationwide lockdown from June 15, including a ban on flights and trains.
The Truth
However, it was later found out that the picture allegedly belonging to a Hindi news channel was fake and misleading. The Press Information Bureau’s Fact-check arm has officially scotched the rumours of yet another lockdown in the country starting June 15. PIB fact-check’s official Twitter account has declared the picture of a Hindi news channel with the message of the revival of lockdown as fake, thereby putting to rest the growing anxiety among people in connection with another lockdown.
pic.twitter.com/DqmrDrcvSz
The Ministry of Home Affairs has not announced anything regarding the re-implementation of lockdown in the country. Besides, the photo of the lockdown message that is in circulation on the Internet is morphed. Even the news channel had not carried the report as being illustrated in the morphed image.
The rumours about the re-imposition of lockdown came on the heels of the centre’s decision to unlock the economy in a gradual and phased manner of starting June 1. By June 8, the country had already completed all three phases including the re-opening of offices, malls, restaurants and religious spots based on the assessment by local law enforcement officials. A staggered approach is being embraced by the government to run Flight and train operations.
While India battles the Coronavirus pandemic, the left ecosystem has been busy trying to cast aspersions on the herculean efforts of the Indian government, especially the Indian Railways. After the lockdown was imposed in India, the country saw an unprecedented crisis with migrant workers from different states wanting to go back home amidst the pandemic. The Indian Railways then started Shramik trains to assist the migrant labourers and ensure that they reach home.
With the Shramik trains ferrying lakhs of migrants home, the Left ecosystem activated its propaganda channels to cast aspersions on the operation. As is the nature of the Left, the angle they decided to exploit was the death of migrant labourers. The assertion that the Left tried to make was the migrant labourers who breathed their last while in transit died due to hunger and dehydration. The aim here was not to express solidarity with the migrant labourers but pull down the Indian Railways as the cases that the media highlighted were ones where they blindly peddled their agenda with little regard for the truth.
The Wire today published an article where they claimed that 3 out of 4 ‘fact-checks’ by PIB were ‘unsubstantiated’. Essentially, they meant that the PIB was trying to hide details and essential facts about the deaths of 3 migrant labourers. The underlying insinuation here that the PIB lied and the migrant labourers indeed did died due to starvation. In this article, we will be looking at each case cited by The Wire and analysing why the assertions by the Left propaganda outlet are wild and baseless.
Case 1 cited by The Wire: Ramratan Raghunath Gond
On 27th, the Railway Ministry spokesperson said that the two individuals who had died on Shramik trains were both suffering from pre-existing conditions. One of them was suffering from Kidney ailment and the other was also suffering from various health problems.
The first person was Divyang Dashrat. Navbharat Times had reported that “The deceased Divyang Dashrath (30) was a resident of Badlapur in Jaunpur. He went to Mumbai with his brother Lalmani Prajapati to making a living. During his return home with his brother, his health in Prayagraj deteriorated due to severe heat and hunger. When the train reached Manduadih station, Dashrath’s brother tried to wake him up but couldn’t.”
This case is not disputed by The Wire since the ailment, Kidney ailment, was mentioned specifically by the media reports.
The second person who died along with Dashrath was 63-year-old Ramratan Raghunath Gond. This is the case on which The Wire has cast aspersions.
The Wire article itself says that when allied propagandists, AltNews tried to speak to the Railways in charge, they were told that Ramratan Raghunath Gond had a lung infection that ultimately became the cause of his death. This was revealed during post-mortem. Casting aspersions, AltNews slyly mentions that they were denied a copy of the post-portem report and hence, any suggestion that Gond, in fact, did die of infection and not hunger was a lie perpetuated by PIB and the Railways officials.
OpIndia did get a hold of the post-mortem report. In the report, it was clearly mentioned that Ramratan Raghunath Gond died due to Septicaemic shock. A septic shock would essentially mean the inability of the heart to pump blood to organs due to infection in the bloodstream, causing organ failure and death.
The Wire also cites the son of the deceased who says that his father had no pre-existing conditions and thus, he must have died of starvation. It is pertinent to note here that septic shock, as mentioned earlier, is the result of a pre-existing bacterial infection that spreads, detected or undetected, and thus, leads to multi-organ failure. When The Wire asserts that the individual died of hunger and the postmortem says that he died of septic shock, it becomes important to understand the starvation does not lead to a bacterial infection that can then lead to septic shock. Thus, the reason that The Wire wants to peddle seems completely medically impossible.
On the other hand, The Wire report itself says that this individual was tested for Coronavirus and was negative. With a lung infection given as the reason by Railways officials to AltNews, it is entirely possible that the individual was displaying symptoms, such as coughing.
It thus seems like The Wire is clutching on to straws when it comes to proving that Ramratan Raghunath Gond died of starvation and to prove this unfounded theory, they are even manipulating the family members of the deceased.
Case 2 cited by The Wire: 23-year-old Arvina Khatoon
A few days back, a heart-rending video of a hapless child trying to wake up its mother, who was lying motionless on a platform on Muzaffarpur station, was widely circulated on the Internet. The video had gone viral on social media websites after which several media organisations and prominent personalities shared the video and raised questions about the plight of migrant workers who are being transported to their native places even as the coronavirus stalks through the country.
This is another case that The Wire has used to insinuate ‘death due to starvation’ and attempted to also allege that the Railway authorities are lying in their explanation.
Interestingly, the Patna High Court last week took suo moto cognisance of the death of the woman on board a train from Gujarat to Bihar after the video of the child fiddling with the dead body of his mother provoked outrage on social media. The Railways responded by submitting an affidavit in the court filed by Sarvapriya Mayank, Principal Chief Security Commissioner, RPF in East Central Railway on behalf of the Union of India.
The total time of the travel was approximately 41 hours. The route taken by the train was from Ahmedabad to Ajmer—Gorakhpur—Hajipur—Muzaffarpur. The affidavit mentions that the normal running time on the route, traversed by Sabarmati Express (19165), is usually 43 hours but the Shramik train which was boarded by Arbina Khatoon took lesser time than the normal train, dismissing various reports that claimed that the train took multiple diversions and reached its destination very late.
In addition, the affidavit declared that the lady was disembarked from the train at Muzaffarpur station and she was lying in an unconscious state. Inspector of RPF on duty, Ved Prakash Sharma and Muzaffarpur Station Master was informed about the incident. A requisition memo was sent to Railway Doctor who later arrived at the platform 3 and pronounced the lady dead. Finding no apparent cause of death he advised postmortem examination.
The affidavit clearly mentions that the brother-in-law of the deceased lady admitted that Arbina had died at 12 PM on the same day, meaning 4 hours before the train reached Muzaffarpur station, and after discussing with his relatives on phone, he was advised to get down at Muzaffarpur to proceed to Katihar on some vehicle by road. Xerox copy of the Doctor’s report has been attached with the affidavit.
The statement was made by the deceased’s brother-in-law, in front of the officer-in-charge of GRP and with his wife Kohinoor Khatoon by his side. He also claimed that Arbina had become mentally unstable from some time, adding that her husband had deserted her and she was keeping unwell since a while back.
The Wire cites the family members of Arvina Khatoon saying that the lady was not suffering from any ailment and was mentally and physically fine. However, OpIndia has now accessed the sworn statement by the brother-in-law which was also submitted to the court.
Sworn statement by Arvina Khatoon’s brother-in-law
AltNews and The Wire claim to have spoken to sister Kohinoor and brother-in-law Mohammed Wazir who said that Khatoon was mentally and physically fit. However, Mohammed Wazir himself had signed a statement saying that she was indeed unwell.
It is entirely possible that a family that just lost a member would be hard pressed to provide accurate statements, however, AltNews and The Wire seem to have used the plight of the family to benefit their own agenda against the Indian Railways.
Recently, when AltNews, with three of its editors, spent seven days ‘researching’ the death of one Arvina Khatun from Muzaffarpur (Bihar), they wrote a 17-km long copy to prove nothing. Specifically, if we talk about just one aspect of the said ‘fact check of fact check’ that hovers around ‘whether Arvina received food or not’, there are as many as five statements.
First statement is from her brother in law, Wazir, who spoke to BBC on the day of death, and said that they were given food and water by Railways.
Then, while speaking to AltNews he claimed that food or water was not provided and what he spoke to BBC was under stress. Although, no one in AltNews realised the brilliance of Wazir to save the face of government when supposedly they killed his sister in law!
The third statement came from his wife, Kohinoor (Arvina’s sister) who claimed that she did not eat before boarding the train.
However, the fourth statement about Arvina’s hunger came from Wazir who said he saw her eating before they boarded the train. The fifth instance of statements on her hunger comes from Noor Parvez, a Dainik Bhaskar local reporter, who talked to the family (some of them not even on that train) which claimed that ‘none of the passengers’ were given any food or water.
This entire narrative falls apart from a simple fact that there were no complaints to Railways regarding the absence of foodservice or its quality (if it was provided). Railways released a detailed statement saying the food was served as many as four times during the journey, at Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Kanpur and Chhapra.
Thus, the second cases cited by The Wire also seems to fall short of substantiating their agenda.
Case 3 cited by The Wire: 4-year-old Irshad
The third case which is cited by The Wire is that of a 4-year-old child, Irshad.
Following is the ‘fact-check’ according to The Wire.
‘Fact-check’ by The Wire
At the very outset, there are several discrepancies in the so-called ‘fact-check’. Firstly, the statement from the family itself says that they were provided food on the 23rd, which is, when they started their journey. However, later, the family says that they were hungry for 4 days.
However sensitive we are to the plight of the family after they lose their 4-year-old child, these discrepancies are ones that any alleged ‘fact-checker’ would have caught on to and thus, deemed the testimony of the grieving family unreliable.
Further, the journey was of 2 days. According to the RPF, the child was receiving treatment for a pre-existing condition before they started that journey. However, if there are discrepancies in the statement of the family, one has to wonder if the family asserting that the child was receiving no treatment is also true.
Further, The Wire article itself says that the family refused to get the post-mortem of the child done. Now, in the absence of a post-mortem report, it becomes difficult to establish beyond doubt the cause of death. The question also arises as to why the family refused to get a post-mortem done of the deceased child.
AltNews and The Wire conveniently ignore facts to suit agenda
As can be seen, AltNews and The Wire are conveniently ignoring the facts to suit an agenda. In fact, they not only ignore the facts but twist them to misinterpret and misrepresent to make the government appear guilty for reasons best known to them.

At the time when the use of alcohol-based sanitisers has been considered as one of the safest ways to protect from the deadly Coronavirus, a prominent Islamic cleric at Dargah Aala Hazrat in Bareilly has asked all its followers and mosque heads to avoid using alcohol-based sanitisers.
Mufti Nashtar Farooqi of Sunni Markaz Darul Ifta, Dargah Aala Hazrat, said on Wednesday: “Alcohol is prohibited in Islam. Muslims should not use alcohol-based sanitizers. A mosque will become impure if alcohol-based sanitiser is used for cleaning the premises. We cannot make God’s home impure. Namaaz cannot be offered at an impure place. If the mosque is made impure knowingly, it will be a sin. I have appealed to Imams of mosques and mosques committees to refrain from using an alcohol-based sanitizer.”
He however said, “Instead of using alcohol-based sanitizer, Muslims should properly wash their hands and mosque campus with soap, detergent powder and shampoo.”
It may be noted that in Islam alcoholic beverages are considered haram, i.e., they are prohibited to be consumed by Muslims. But alcohol-based sanitisers does not mean they contain liquor. Here the term alcohol means a large group of chemical compounds. In chemical terms, alcohol means an organic compound that carries at least one hydroxyl functional group (−OH) bound to a saturated carbon atom. Not every compound termed as alcohol are alcoholic drinks.
Muslim clerics demanded to be consulted before quarantining Muslim coronavirus patients
Last month, Islamic clerics had demanded that the Maharashtra government should consult them before quarantining Muslim coronavirus patients. On May 12, the Nagpur branch secretary of an Islamic seminary- Jamia Arabia Islamia, Mohammad Abdul Aziz Khan, had written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Speaker Nana Patole, asking them to counsel with the Muslim clerics and discussing with Maulvis before segregating and quarantining people belonging to Muslim community suspected of being infected by the novel coronavirus. Khan’s request that Muslim clerics should be consulted before isolating Muslim coronavirus patients comes on the heels of the large number of cases reported in Nagpur, especially from the minority-dominated localities of Satranjipura and Mominpura.
Veiled threat issued by a Islamic cleric in Maharashtra
Earlier, A Muslim cleric had demanded special privileges for his fellow Muslim clerics on the account of Muslim holy month of Ramzan. Issuing a veiled threat to the Maharashtra Police, Mufti Hujefa Kasmi of Bhiwandi asked the police to not take any coercive action against Muslim clerics who are found violating the lockdown restrictions during the month of Ramzan. Kasmi had warned that police action against Muslim clerics during Ramzan will not be tolerated by the community members and could touch off a wave of violence
Days after actress Kangana Ranaut had slammed Bollywood entertainers and celebrities for speaking on ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement while staying silent on national incidents such as Palghar Sadhus lynching, the actress once again exposed the selectivity and hypocrisy of Bollywood stars.
In a video message shared by the actress’s team on Twitter, Kangana Ranaut is seen calling out the Bollywood celebrities, the so-called liberals and intellectuals for their selective secularism. She requested PM Modi to help Kashmiri Pandits to safely return to their homeland and also sought justice for late Kashmiri Pandit sarpanch Ajay Pandita who was shot dead on Monday by terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Calling out the hypocrisy of the Bollywood celebrities, Kangana said that these so-called ‘secular’ liberals only react to topics with “Jihadi agendas”. These liberals are eager to hit the streets holding placards, candles in their hands only when an issue needs to be internationalized or has a “jihadi agenda” attached to it. “Inki manavta tabhi phooti hain jab uske peeche kuch Jihadi agenda ho”, this is only when their humanity springs up, which is otherwise mostly dead. These celebrities, who are seen outraging on topics with Jihadi agendas, remain silent when it comes to speaking for justice for others, said Kangana.
Liberals cloak behind secularism like a wolf often hides behind a lion’s skin, said Kangana Ranaut
The way a wolf often hides behind a lion’s skin these so-called liberals often cloak behind secularism says Kangana in her video message. The actress further condemns the killing of the Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch, Ajay Pandita and slams the so-called celebrities for not speaking a word of condemnation against the gruesome incident.
These so-called liberals dare to teach Hindus what secularism is. Hinduism is a religion which teaches nothing but love. It teaches how to respect other religions. It teaches how everything on this earth is worth worshipping. And these liberals are teaching Hindus what secularism is all about, says Kangana, slamming the selectivity and hypocrisy of Bollywood stars.
Kangana Ranaut requests PM Modi to help the Kashmiri Pandits return safely to their homeland
Speaking of the plight of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir, Kangana said that gradually the Hindu population has been decreasing in the valley. She speaks of the atrocities meted out at the Hindus in the valley, how they are subjected to extreme brutality and atrocities. The Hindus in Kashmir have been killed en masse over the years, which is why now only a handful of them are left in the valley. Saying this, Kangana requests PM Modi to help the Kashmiri Pandits return safely to their homeland and secure them by giving them back their land/property. Hinduism should be re-established in the valley. This is the only way to provided justice to Ajay Pandita, said the actress.
Ajay Pandita shot dead by terrorists
A Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch was shot dead on Monday by terrorists in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Congress Sarpanch of Lokbowan Larkipora, identified as Ajay Pandita, was fired upon by the terrorists who later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
According to the police sources, the sarpanch had gone to work in his orchard when he was attacked by the terrorists. The area has been cordoned off soon after the shooting.
In a shocking incident, an 82-year-old coronavirus positive patient, who was missing for last one week from a government hospital in Jalgaon in Maharashtra, was found dead inside a toilet in the same hospital on Wednesday.
According to the reports, the elderly woman had tested positive for coronavirus on May 27 and was under treatment since then at Jalgaon Civil Hospital. Later, the octogenarian went missing on June 2. The relatives and authorities began to search for the woman, however, she was not found.
Subsequently, the family of the patient lodged a case in a local police station on June 6.
According to Akbar Patel, Senior Inspector at the Zillapeth police station, they found some foul smell emanating from one of the toilets in the hospital. The police found the woman’s body in the hospital toilet eight days after she went missing. ‘We have informed the family accordingly’, SI Patel said.
The worried family, in a video message, has urged the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to order a probe into the incident and punish those found negligent or guilty.
Second case of missing coronavirus patient in a span of a week
Reportedly, this is the second case of coronavirus patients going missing in the state in the past three days. On Tuesday, an 80-year-old male coronavirus patient had gone missing from the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali since Sunday.
The 80-year-old was later found dead near the Borivali station. It is believed that he was killed in a train mishap.
Amidst the ongoing stand-off between Indian and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), a former Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF) made a startling revelation that the IAF had once had to reactivate the historic Daulat Beg Oldie airstrip in Ladakh, without the permission of the then-Congress led UPA government in 2008.
Air Marshal Pranab Kumar Barbora, who was the Commander-in-Chief of the western air command in 2008, wanted to re-open an airstrip along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) not only to maximise logistical support for troops stationed at Ladakh but also to check the Chinese activity along the LAC and to prevent any incursion by the Chinese troops.
The plan of Indian Air Force to re-activate the strip, which could give a huge strategic advantage to the Indian troops against received a major setback after UPA government under Manmohan Singh refused to give permission. Interestingly, the government did not give any clear reason for refusing permission.
However, the Air Marshal realising the prevailing security necessities along the LAC, decided to follow his plan, without the centre’s permission.
In May 2008, the Air Marshal himself flew an An-32 transport aircraft and landed on the Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip in Ladakh without informing the government. The historic airstrip was reactivated by the Indian Air Force again.
The strategic importance of Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip
Daulat Beg Oldi airstrip lies in one of the most strategically important terrains just near the base of the Karakoram Range and also close to Chip Chap river. The airstrip is just 8 km south of the Chinese border and 9 km northwest of the Aksai Chin Line of Actual Control between India and China.
The DBO airstrip is also one of the world’s highest airstrips in the world, located and operated at an altitude of nearly 17,000 feet. It was built during the 1962 war with China, however, there were no operations here since 1965. For 43 years, there had been no clearance from Delhi to re-operate from this outpost.
The first pilot to land a C-119G Fairchild Packet aircraft was IAF’s Squadron Leader CKS Raje. After a slight instability was observed in the runway after an earthquake in 1966, the landing of fixed-wing aircraft was discontinued, as per a report in SP’s Aviation.
The Indian Army maintains helipads and a gravel airstrip here, the highest airstrip in the world. The Air Force also carries routine sorties using An-32 aircraft to provide relief and supplies to the troops stationed nearby. The outpost is strategically important as it helps Indian Armed Forces to keep a check on Chinese troops that patrols along the Line of Actual Control.
In a significant demonstration of its capabilities, the Indian Air Force had landed a C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft in Daulat Beg Oldie on 20 August 2013. In fact, the DBO airstrip and the necessary infrastructure built around it has been adding weight to India’s bargaining power with China in the current stand-off.
The Daulat Beg Oldi outpost is also one of the five officially agreed personnel meeting points between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army for regular consultations and interactions between the two armies.
Television queen Ekta Kapoor in an exclusive interview with OpIndia asserted how no controversy can justify rape threats. “They have issued rape threats to me, my 73 year old mom and my one and a half year old kid. They have morphed my face on nude images and circulated it all over internet,” Kapoor says that some of the abuses directed toward her were so objectionable that they cannot be mentioned. She says open calls were made to people to humiliate and rape her. In February last year, Kapoor welcomed her first child, Ravie, a baby boy, born via surrogacy.
Kapoor says she has utmost respect for the Indian Army and their families and what is objectionable to them will be fixed. “But a fictional story on an app can not justify real life humiliation of women. We need to understand that rape threats dilute the purpose of protests and not further them,” she says. “If this can happen to a reasonably successful woman like me then imagine what they can do to girls that are a lot more vulnerable. I won’t budge in front of those hooligans for the sake of other girls. This cyber bullying and rape threats has to stop,” she added.
Regarding the controversial scene, Kapoor said that they do not justify the objections raised by respectable section of the society. “The moment the issue was raised, the platform made necessary amends and removed the scene altogether. We also unconditionally apologise to the army and army wives if we have unintentionally hurt their sentiments,” she said that as an individual she has highest respect for the Indian Army.
Speaking on being the woman in a largely male-dominated world of entertainment, she says how different barometers are used for men and women. “Aggression is considered as passion in men while aggressive women are seen in a negative light. If you are assertive as a woman, you are considered to be emotionless or cranky,” says Kapoor who started her career at the age of 17 with her mother, Shobha Kapoor. “I think women have an edge because of their combative forces as they fight so many prejudices on daily basis. It is heartening to see that women are breaking the glass ceiling by helming leadership roles now more than ever,” she says after having shattered quite a few glass ceilings herself.
The pioneer of Saas-Bahu dramas on the small screen Kapoor said she creates shows which resonate with masses, irrespective of religion or caste. “We have created shows that have established family watch-time across television sets for the entire nation. The fact that these shows have created their own legacy and mass following, showcases that India still has a strong sense of family culture and togetherness and they appreciate value content,” she says.
The recent controversy hasn’t dampened her spirits. “In terms of movies, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare will release soon. In addition to that, we have Ek Villain 2, Pagglait, K Tina in the pipeline. On the digital platform, ALTBalaji, we recently launched the 3rd season of our popular show Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain. The next show in the pipeline is Beebaakee among others. When it comes to television, with the 3rd instalment of Naagin done, the 4th season has been scripted and shall go on floors soon. The endeavour of course is to create entertaining content for our audiences across all platforms,” she says.
XXX2 controversy over ‘objectionable sex scene’
Objecting to the show, several complaints have been filed against Ekta Kapoor. Social media celebrity Hindustani Bhau had filed a police complaint against TV producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor over allegations of disrespecting the Indian Army, and the Indian Army in her erotic web series XXX 2. Alt Balaji has since then deleted the scene but Kapoor has been subjected to threats from online bullies.
