Madhavrao Scindia would have been Prime Minister if he had lived: Senior Congress leader Natwar Singh reacts to Scindia’s resignation

Following the resignation of Jyotiraditya Scindia from Congress party, veteran Congress leader Natwar Singh has stated that he is not surprised that Scindia is going to join the BJP.

Speaking to ANI, Singh added, “I feel he will be sent to Rajya Sabha & inducted into Union Cabinet. His father Madhavrao Scindia would have been Prime Minister if he had lived.”

It is pertinent to remember that Madhavrao Scindia who was one of the biggest Congress leaders who could not make to the apex post as his life was cut short in a plane accident on September 30, 2001.

He had a strained relationship with both Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. The story seems to be repeating for his son Jyotriaditya Scindia who tendered his resignation from the party after being deliberately sidelined.

Reportedly, the reason behind the resignation of has to do with the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The Congress party could not decide on its candidates due to the pressure tactics employed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh. As per a report in Outlook, Scindia wanted to contest from the first seat as it would have ensured his comfortable victory to Rajya Sabha. The second seat would have been an uphill task for the grand old party.

However, Scindia’s decision in a way seems predictable too. He has been brutally sidelined after the MP assembly elections. Despite his efforts and follower counts, the CM’s chair was given to Kamal Nath. Reports have also stated that both Scindia and Sachin Pilot, being strong and dynamic leaders with immense popularity in their states, are seen as ‘competitions’ for Congress prince Rahul Gandhi.

Scindia’s resignation has also led to a power crisis in the State. The infighting with the Congress camp in Madhya Pradesh became apparent soon after Kamal Nath assumed the Chief Ministerial post and Scindia was sidelined.

Addressing a rally at Kudila village near Prithvipur in February, Jyothiraditya Scindia said that he would hit the streets if the Congress party’s manifesto was not fulfilled in the state. Scindia made these promises as he expressed solidarity with contract teachers, who were agitating against the state government demanding regularisation.

Scindia’s threats to Chief Minister Kamal Nath comes after Madhya Pradesh Congress government admitted its own failure to deliver the tall promises of farm loan waiver made by their supremo Rahul Gandhi during the Assembly elections campaign in 2018.

Earlier, the change in his Twitter bio created quite a furore over the Internet some time back. Netizens started speculating that the missing ‘Congress’ from the bio may have more than what meets the eye. However, all doubts were put to rest, when Scindia had clarified that he had changed his Twitter bio a month back and not in recent past.

Jyotiraditya Scindia’s aunt Yashodhara Raje in BJP congratulates him for quitting Congress, calls it ‘Gharwapsi’

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, sister of the late Madhavrao Scindia and aunt to Jyotiraditya Scindia, has expressed her happiness at her nephew’s resignation from the Congress party and congratulated him on his ‘Gharwapsi’. Yashodhara Raje said that Jyotiraditya Scindia was being neglected in the Congress party. Jyotiraditya Scindia is also the grandson of the late Rajmata of Gwalior, Vijaya Raje Scindia, one of the co-founders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was active in the BJP’s predecessor Jana Sangh for decades prior to that.

Vasundhara Raje, former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, also remembered Madhavrao Scindia on his birth anniversary today. Jyotiraditya Scindia’s other aunt remembered the close bonds that siblings share and the affection she still bears towards her brother and the father of Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Jyotiriaditya Scindia, the scion of the Scindia Dynasty, has resigned from the Congress party after rifts widened between him and Chief Minister Kamal Nath. The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is on the verge of collapse after nearly 20 MLAs resigned following Scindia’s lead. There is also the possibility of more leaders following suit.

It is reported that Scindia may soon join the BJP. Reports say that he may be elected to the Rajya Sabha on a BJP ticket. With Scindia and several Congress MLAs resigning, the Kamal Nath government may fall anytime.

More trouble for Congress as reports suggest 13 Gujarat MLAs may quit the party and join BJP

Hours after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia quit Congress amidst rumours of joining the BJP, more troubles have mounted for the grand old party. As per media reports, the Congress MLAs in Gujarat also have revolted. As many as 13 Gujarat Congress MLAs are reportedly in talks with the BJP.

Citing party sources, Republic Bharat claimed that 13 Gujarat Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP and may dump Congress to join BJP. TV9 Gujarati reported that for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Patidar and OBC leaders of Congress have being fighting amongst themselves. Gujarat Congress chief Paresh Dhanani, however, has denied the claims.

Soon after the news of Scindia quitting Congress along with 20 other rebel MLAs from Madhya Pradesh came out, Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Delhi. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot had recently allegedly disagreed on nomination of influential diamond merchant to Rajya Sabha.

Pilot has also been critical of state government on certain issues. After Gehlot’s insensitive remark on the death of infants in Kota hospital, Pilot had slammed Gehlot. He had said that as Chief Minister he could not escape responsibility by blaming previous government.

Wikipedia vandals attack Jyotiraditya Scindia as he resigns from Congress amidst rumours of him joining the BJP, call him ‘donkey’

As soon as Jyotiraditya Scindia decided to leave Congress, Congress leaders and loyal ‘darbaris’ had started calling him names and slandering him. Now, the slamming and name-calling has been taken by Congress supporters to Wikipedia.

Scindia’s Wikipedia page has been vandalised by Congress supporters. They have resorted to calling him names and are using insulting words for him. One Twitter user alleged that Scindia’s Wikipedia page shows words like ‘donkey’, comedian and ‘power-hungry’.

As can be seen in the pictures above, Scindia has been introduced as ‘an Indian comedian’. He has been called ‘power-hungry Scindia’ and ‘donkey from Madhya Pradesh.

Upon searching Wikipedia, we found other edits too. There were some edits which called him one of the most intelligent and faithful leaders of the Indian National Congress. This particular edit also stated that it is the party (congress)’s fault that they are not able to make use of such a faithful leader. It adds that he decided to join BJP because Congress was not able to use his intelligence.

There are other attempts at vandalism to call him a ‘traitor.’

Though Scindia’s Wikipedia page has been restored now and shows the basic information about him, updates of him joining the BJP without any insulting words and derogatory names, the attempts to add insulting words for the politician shows how far the Congress establishment has come to hate him.

Madhya Pradesh: Memes flood social media after Jyotiraditya Scindia resigns from Congress with nearly 20 MLAs from Congress

Operation Kamal is underway in Madhya Pradesh and it appears Shivraj Singh ‘Mamaji’ Chauhan is set to return as Chief Minister in the state. The Congress government is on the verge of collapse as nearly 20 of their MLAs have tendered their resignation from the Assembly.

Today is also Holi, the festival of colours. And the politicial developments in Madhya Pradesh have added to people’s celebratory mood. Along expected lines, social media is flooding social media.

A lot of the memes revolve around Amit Shah and Jyotirditya Scindia. The Home Minister, during his tenure as party president, had earned himself the reputation of ensuring that BJP forms the government in states where they fell short of necessary numbers by a few.

Some memes also revolve around Amit Shah and Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

Then, there are the memes focusing on the imminent return of Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Some show Jyotiraditya Scindia celebrating with his MLAs.

With all the memes doing the rounds, Prime Minister Modi could hardly be left behind. A clip from Narendra Modi’s press conference last year, where he had said that schemes are not implemented in a vacuum but after intense planning, is now being applied to the current context.

A day after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from primary membership of Congress, the party has ‘expelled’ him. Scindia had tendered his resignation on 9th March, 2020. Earlier on Tuesday, Scindia had met Prime Minister Modi at his residence along with Home Minister Amit Shah. Meanwhile, along with Scindia, numerous other Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs have tendered their resignation. With this, the Madhya Pradesh state government is on a brink of a collapse.

“Traitor”: Congress leaders express ire as senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia along with 19 other ditch the party

Madhya Pradesh has plunged into a political crisis after senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia along with 19 others ditched the Congress party and tendered his resignation to the party. As per latest reports, Scindia met Home Minister Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi. The development has fuelled speculation that Scindia could join the BJP and ultimately help the latter unseat his political rival, Kamal Nath from power.

Many Congress leaders have taken to Twitter to react to this latest political astoundment. Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in the early hours of Tuesday (10 March) took a dig at Scindia saying that a ‘true Congressi’ will remain in Congress only.

Singh had earlier claimed that the party had tried to establish contact with incognito leader Jyotiraditya Scindia but failed to do so as he is said to be suffering from Swine flu. Incidentally, a few hours later media reports had recorded Scindia returning back to his residence.

This comment from Singh came after it was reported that all state cabinet ministers in the Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh government tendered their resignation in a possible bid to accommodate the 17 MLAs (including six ministers) who have gone incognito.

The party’s national coordinator for social media Gaurav Pandhi took to Twitter to take an indirect jibe at Jyotiraditya Scindia: “A traitor is a traitor and no amount of arguments & reasoning can justify treachery. Period!” Pandhi said in a tweet amid speculation that Jyotiraditya Scindia was all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Baffled Pandhi also commented: “I am baffled to see the so-called ‘liberal’ journalists approving of Scindia joining BJP-RSS. This is their true color. The hate for Congress & Rahul Gandhi is so real, they don’t mind glorifying those ditching secular principles & abuse RG who is consistently fighting fascists!”

Meanwhile, Jitu Patwari, the Cabinet Minister of Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Madhya Pradesh, also took a dig at Jyotiraditya Scindia by drawing a 1967 ‘coup’ analogy.

The President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, Arun Subhash Chandra Yadav also expressed his ire on Twitter by saying that he had no regrets about the character adopted by Jyotiraditya Scindia. “Scindias supported British ideology during the freedom struggle”, today, Jyotiraditya has once again stood with the same vile ideology and saluted his ancestors, said the Congress MP.

Moreover, Congress member Pankaj Punia also took to Twitter to express his pique over Jyotiraditya’s decision to abandon the party. He was quick to dismiss the senior party leader by calling him a ‘gaddar’ (traitor).

Former Union Minister and four-time parliamentarian Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from the Congress this morning, minutes after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi.

In his letter, which is dated March 9 and is addressed to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia said: “…this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year”.

“While my aim and purpose remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning, to serve the people of my state and country, I believe am unable to do this anymore within this party,” he wrote.

Jyotiraditya Scindia’s move has left the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh on the brink of a dramatic collapse.

Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath govt to continue to shame rioters, will move SC against Allahabad High Court order

0

Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has vowed to move the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court order in its bid to continue “profiling” the rioters. This move comes a day after the Allahabad High Court ordered the Lucknow administration to remove hoardings that “name” and “shame” Anti-CAA rioters.

The media advisor, Mrityunjay Kumar, to the UP Chief Minister tweeted, “The order of the Allahabad High Court to remove hoardings that identify rioters needs to be understood in the right context.”

Kumar added, “Only the posters will be removed but not the Indian Penal Code sections against them. The fight to expose the identity of the rioters will continue. Lenient treatment will not be meted out to rioters under the Yogi Adityanath led government.” As pre reports, the petition challenging the High Court Order is to be filed later in this week.

Another media advisor to CM Yogi Adityanath, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, reiterated that the government is examining the Allahabad High Court order on what basis was it passed. “Our experts are examining it. The government will decide what option to go for. The Chief Minister has to take the decision… But it is a fact that none of the people, who damaged public properties, will be spared,” Tripathi said.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government had put up hoardings of 57 anti-CAA rioters in prominent intersections in state capital Lucknow. The hoardings included their names, addresses and photos of the rioters who damaged public property during the riots that claimed 22 lives in December last year. The rioters were asked to pay the penalty amount within a month.

The Allahabad High Court, which took suo motu cognisance of the issue, on March 7 termed the move as “highly unjust” on Sunday. The Bench comprising of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Ramesh Sinha noted that that there is no law that allows the state to place banners displaying names and personal data of the accused from whom compensation is being charged.

Labelling the hoardings as ‘unwarranted interference in the privacy of people’, the Allahabad High Court has ordered the district administration and the divisional commissioner of police to remove them by March 16.

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale chants ‘Go Corona’ slogans against coronavirus

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale raised slogans against the Novel Coronavirus on Monday as the deadly virus continues to spread across the globe at an alarming rate. Slogans of “Corona Go! Go Corona!” were raised by the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the presence of a group that had gathered to raise awareness about Covid-19, also called the Wuhan Virus and the Chinese Coronavirus.

The slogans are unlikely to assist in the government’s preparation to curb the spread of the epidemic that has assumed pandemic proportions. Meanwhile, the government is trying to take effective measures to prevent the virus from causing mayhem in the country.

On Monday, a person who was admitted to the district Wenlock hospital in Mangalaru after he exhibited symptoms of coronavirus had gone missing. He arrived at the airport in Mangaluru, Karnataka from Dubai on Sunday.

Earlier, an Irish national who had suspected coronavirus symptoms had gone ‘missing’ from Odisha’s SCB Medical College. He was later found in a Bhubaneswar hotel.

Amidst the growing concerns of novel Coronavirus, a video of thousands of used coronavirus masks dumped at an isolated spot near Kalher pipeline in Bhiwandi sent ripples of panic wave among the people. Imran Shaikh, a godown staffer, was allegedly seen in the video dumping waste masks.

Jyotiraditya Scindia had tendered his resignation on 9 March, while Congress said he was incommunicado due to ‘swine flu’

The political drama in Madhya Pradesh has been speeding in a breakneck speed since yesterday. While it had been speculated for long that Jyotiraditya Scindia is ‘unhappy’ and may take a major step soon, no one was really prepared when yesterday news started unravelling that Scindia has actually done it.

While news trickled in that several Congress MLAs are hoarded up in a resort outside Bengaluru in Karnataka, a BJP ruled state, Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia had gone incommunicado.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh, when questioned by the media, chose to feign ignorance. He actually stated that Scindia is ‘unreachable’ because he has Swine Flu.

In reality, Jyotiraditya Scindia had tendered his resignation on March 9. It was reported that Scindia had spoken to Sonia Gandhi on March 9. Last night, MP CM Kamal Nath had called up a hurried cabinet meeting and soon after it was reported that the entire cabinet has resigned.

This morning, Scindia first arrived at PM Modi’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg with Home Minister Amit Shah. Soon after, Scindia shared his resignation letter addressed to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.

It is not clear why Digvijay Singh said Scindia has ‘Swine Flu’. Maybe it was what Scindia had told him to avoid talking to him. We can only speculate.
