Madhya Pradesh Congress minister Jitu Patwari creates ruckus at Bengaluru resort as police stop him from meeting rebel MLAs, scuffle breaks out

On Thursday, Congress leader and Madhya Pradesh government Minister Jitu Patwari created a ruckus and clashed with Karnataka police official for stopping him from meeting the rebel MLAs of his party, who have been staying at a resort in Karanataka capital Bengaluru, reports ANI.

According to the reports, Congress minister Patwari and another Congress leader Lakhan Singh had gone to Bengaluru to meet the rebel Congress MLAs but they were allegedly stopped by the security personnel.

Following this, a mild scuffle erupted between Karnataka police and the Congress leaders after police did not allow the Congress leaders to meet the rebel MLAs who have decided to quit the Congress and join the BJP. In the video, it can be clearly seen that Madhya Pradesh Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs minister Patwari was attempting to meet the rebel MLAs while the policemen were stopping him near the elevator. Shockingly, Patwari created ruckus and attempted to attack on-duty police personnel of the Karnataka police.

Patwari had gone to Embassy Boulevard to meet Madhya Pradesh rebel MLAs but he was not allowed to meet them. Following the scuffle, Congress leader Jitu Patwari and Singh were taken into preventive custody by the Bengaluru Police. The two MP Congress MLAs were later released by the police.

It may be noted nearly 19 rebel Congress MLAs, close to newly inducted BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has been staying in Bengaluru, which had triggered a political crisis in Madhya Pradesh where the Kamal Nath government has become a minority.

The crisis has deepened on Tuesday after Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from Congress and at least 22 MLAs close to him have announced to withdraw support from the Kamal Nath government. Former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday joined the BJP in the presence of party chief JP Nadda.

We have a responsibility, cannot bring untested people back to India in an epidemic situation: EAM Jaishankar on evacuating Indians amid coronavirus outbreak

Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar said in Lok Sabha on Thursday that the Indian government cannot allow anybody to enter the country without being properly tested in this severe coronavirus epidemic situation.

While speaking in Lok Sabha, S Jaishankar said, “Bhagwant Mann Ji raised the issue of 30 students of Punjab who are stuck at Italy airport. Delhi Police arrest 23-year-old Salman in connection with Ankit Sharma’s brutal murder, IB official was stripped naked to check religion

Delhi police have been in a relentless pursuit to arrest the violent rioters who ran amok, engaging in arson, stone-pelting and vandalism, injuring innumerable civilians and police personnel during the recent communal riots in Delhi.

Days after apprehending AAP leader Tahir Hussain, charged for the brutal murder of the IB sleuth Ankit Sharma, the Delhi police special cell has today arrested one 23-year-old man, identified as Haseen alias Salman, a resident of Nand Nagri, in connection with the murder of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) official, who was killed during the northeast Delhi anti-Hindu riots in Khajuri Khas. Sharma’s body was recovered from a drain near Tahir Hussain’s house on February 26, a day after he went missing.

Today Delhi police revealed that the Intelligence Bureau staffer Ankit Sharma was stripped before his killing. As per a report by ABP News, his clothes were removed to check his religion before he was brutally murdered. He had injury marks on his head, chest, and face. After his killing, an acid-like liquid was poured on Ankit Sharma to conceal his identity.

According to an India TV report, the accused was operating with five names – Salman, Nanhe, Haseen, Momin and Mulla. The 23-year-old is currently in police custody at Lodhi colony.

“The arrest was made by the special cell after they received some specific information and technical evidence against Haseen, who was earlier arrested in several cases of robbery,” police sources said. Police are conducting raids to nab his four associates.

Last week, on March 5th, the suspended AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, who went missing after being charged for the brutal murder of the IB sleuth Ankit Sharma had been arrested by the Delhi Police. The Delhi police had filed a case against the AAP leader under Section 302(a) Murder, in the Dayalpur police station of Delhi. Tahir Hussain is considered to be the kingpin behind the murder of IB sleuth Ankit Sharma and the violent clashes that broke out in Delhi last month.

The family of the deceased Ankit Sharma had accused AAP leader Tahir Hussain and his Muslim mob of dragging their son and brutally murdering him.

A day after Sharma’s family alleged his role in the riots and his murder, many crates of petrol bombs and stones were found on the rooftop of the AAP leader. A Delhi court sent Hussain on seven-day police custody.

Today, in another major breakthrough, the Special Investigation Teams (SIT) had arrested seven people in connection with the murder of Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal during the recent Delhi anti-Hindu Riots. As per a report by India TV, the names of the suspects are Salim Malik, Mohammad Jalauddin, Mohammad Yunus, Mohammad Ayub, Arif, Danish and Mohammad Salim Khan.

As per the report, of the seven, six are residents of Chand Bagh area which is right across Yamuna Vihar where HC Ratan Lal was murdered. This punches a hole in the theory that the rioting mob had come from outside of Delhi. Earlier in the day, the Delhi Police in a press briefing informed that till now 712 FIRs have been registered and over 200 accused have been arrested. The police further informed that technology such as face recognition software is being used to identify people.

Even as Congress govt in Madhya Pradesh is on verge of collapse, Digvijaya Singh files nomination for Rajya Sabha

The Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is staring at a collapse as more than 20 MLAs’ loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia have quit the Congress, dealing a blow to the wafer-thin majority of the ruling combine in the state. Amidst this political turmoil, Congress has gone ahead to nominate senior leader Digvijaya Singh for the Rajya Sabha (RS) elections.

According to reports, party veteran Digvijaya Singh reached the state Assembly secretariat around 12.30 pm Thursday and submitted his papers to the returning officer and Vidhan Sabha principal secretary A P Singh.

Digvijaya Singh’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha comes on the heels of Congress bigwig from MP, Jyotiraditya Scindia quitting the party and joining the BJP on Wednesday. It is believed that the core reason behind Scindia’s grievance was the reported efforts of the Kamal Nath-Digvijaya Singh duo to deny him a Rajya Sabha seat. BJP has already named Scindia as its candidate for Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.

It was only after Jyotiraditya Scindia decided to go incommunicado that the Congress woke up to the reality of events in the state. At that point, both Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh said that they were willing to sit down and sought out the differences and rethink on Scindia’s candidature for the Rajya Sabha seat, however, by then Jyotiraditya Scindia was too far gone and had decided to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Once seen as one of Rahul Gandhi’s closest aides, Jyotiraditya Scindia ditched the Congress party, leaving its government in Madhya Pradesh in chaos on Tuesday afternoon. His resignation, along with that of 21 MLAs, has left the Kamal Nath government in the state on the brink of collapse. It is currently five MLAs short of the new majority mark of 104. Scindia joined BJP today and he has nominated by BJP for upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

Congress party oscillating over Scindia’s Rajya Sabha nomination acted as a catalyst in his decision to leave the party.

Propagandist Scroll publishes fake news, claims ‘no temple’ was attacked in North East Delhi during the riots

Leftist propaganda website Scroll.in, in its continued propaganda over the Delhi anti-Hindu riots, has made the patently false claim that not one Hindu religious place was attacked.

The report claimed that while 14 Mosques and a dargah in North East Delhi have been attacked, ‘not one of the many Hindu Temples’ has been reported as suffering an attack during the riots, which is a patent lie. OpIndia had itself published a report on an attack on a Shiv Mandir at Moonga Nagar near Chand Bagh. However, the propaganda outlet felt no inhibition in publishing the lie.

Scroll’s report on the Delhi anti-Hindu riots

On the 27th of February, OpIndia had reported that a Temple in Chand Bagh was attacked by an Islamist mob during the riots. The mob allegedly vandalised the temple, after which they climbed the roof of the Shiv Mandir and started pelting stones on the Hindus from there. Locals also told us that the mob captured the Temple, the mob climbed on top of the roof, placing ladders at the backyard of the Shiv Mandir.

Scroll, in its article, claims that the mosques were attacked by mob chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and in situation where imams were not able to ‘flee’, they were beaten up by the mob. However, it conveniently forgets to mention how a Hindu activist Vinod was dragged in a lane and killed by a mob chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’.

Whitewashing crimes of Muslim mob to create a narrative that Hindus did not have to suffer in the riots is not new. On the 6th of March, Newslaundry published a ‘ground report‘ on the basis of which it branded OpIndia’s ground report ‘fake news’. The propaganda outlet’s entire report was an exercise in whitewashing the crimes of the Islamist mob. Newslaundry made numerous factual errors and came to entirely bizarre conclusions. We have published a complete rebuttal of the Newslaundry’s propaganda piece here. It appears that after Newslaundry, Scroll has decided to tread the same path.

“Hum udhaar ka sindoor leke suhagan bane hai”, Sanjay Nirupam says Maharashtra govt is unstable, blames groupism by senior leaders for Scindia’s exit

As the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh in on the verge of collapsing after the exit of Jyotidaditya Scindia, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has said that the Maharashtra government will also face a similar fate soon. He said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance government is very unstable, and it can fall any moment.

While speaking to Times Now, Nirupam said that Congress should have never become part of the alliance government in Maharashtra with Shiv Sena and NCP. Talking about the condition of the Maharashtra govt, he said, “Hum udhaar ka sindoor leke suhagan bane hai, ye suhaag kab tak chalega”, (we have become married using borrowed sindoor, how long this marriage will last). This government is functioning on a very weak wicket, and it can fall anytime, he said. Nirupam asserted that he had said several times that the party should not become part of a govt which can hurt the interests of the party in the long run.

Talking about exit party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia who joined BJP yesterday, former Congress Member of Parliament Sanjay Nirupam has said that the presence of senior leaders in the Congress party is one of the reasons for the mess due to which an influential leader like Jyotiraditya Scindia left congress. He suggested that Rahul Gandhi should take over the leadership and the senior leaders of the congress party especially those above the age of seventy should be made to retire forcefully. He said that the senior leaders should play an advisory role, and not be part of active politics, like the Marg Darshak Mandal in BJP.

Sanjay Nirupam asserted that no doubt Scindia is an influential leader and the leadership in Delhi was aware of his demands but failed to resolve. He said, “He is a very popular leader and has his following. It is highly unlikely to say that the leadership in Delhi was unaware of what Scindia wanted. Groupism is everywhere in Congress and there are certain conflicts going inside them for a very long time. So the leadership needs to intervene between them. Scindia wasn’t the only one who was upset.”

Sanjay Nirupam added, “The congress is going through worst phase in its history, so the leadership needs to revive the party lines. I’ve been suggesting for long that Rahul Gandhi should take the lead and the senior leaders of the party, especially those with above seventy age should be made retire forcefully. I think they have contributed enough to the Congress party, now they can be a part of the advisory council- Margdarshak Mandal of the party, like the one BJP have”.

Maharashtra: Shiv Sena likely to name Priyanka Chaturvedi as Rajya Sabha candidate

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi is all set to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the party for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

According to the reports, Shiv Sena decided to nominate party leader Priyanka Chaturvedi for the lone Rajya Sabha seat which it is contesting out of the seven seats that are going to the polls. Chaturvedi is considered to be one of the closest aides of the Tourism Minister and Shiv Sena prince Aditya Thackeray.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, who started her political career with the Congress party in 2010, had quit the party last year over its failure to punish the party leaders accused of misbehaving with her during a press conference in Mathura in 2018. Reportedly, she was also miffed because of the denial of the party ticket to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Mumbai. The Congress party had instead offered the ticket to Bollywood entertainer Urmila Matondkar to contest from North Mumbai seat.

Subsequently, she had quit the party and had joined the Shiv Sena before the 2019 general elections.

A total of 55 Rajya Sabha seats across 17 states will go to the polls on March 26. Out of the seven Rajya Sabha seats that are going to the polls in Maharashtra, NCP currently holds two seats while Shiv Sena, BJP and Congress have one seat each.  The other seats are held by RPI(A) chief Ramdas Athawale and a BJP-backed Independent candidate. With the existing support of allies in Maharashtra, the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are assured of winning at least four of the seven seats due to its numerical strength in the Maharashtra Assembly.

The NCP will contest two seats, its allies Shiv Sena and Congress have settled for one seat each. NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar is slated to retain his seat and NCP leader Fauzia Khan will be another nominee from the party.

On the other hand, BJP has named Udayanraje Bhosale, Ramdas Athawale, and Bhagwat Karad as its three candidates. The last day for filing nomination is March 13. The counting of votes will take place on March 26 itself after the voting concludes.

Netizens remind NYT correspondent of its anti-India bias, he labels everyone ‘trolls’ after comparisons to toilet paper

The New York Times has embarked on an effort to increase its readership in India. Thus, Vindu Goel, Tech and Business Correspondent for the alleged newspaper, who is based in Mumbai, announced on Twitter that the cost of digital subscriptions has been cut to Rs. 25/week for the first year of subscription. Sharing that tweet, Amar Govindarajan, Publisher and Chief Digital Officer of Swarajya Magazine, joked that he had received three promotional emails since morning from NYTimes.

The joke didn’t go down too well with Goel who attempted to use Swarajya Mag to increase the readership of the ‘failing’ NYT. He told Govindarajan, “You post public proof that you have subscribed to @nytimes and I’ll post proof that I have subscribed to @SwarajyaMag. Maybe we will both learn something.”

Soon after Goel’s tweet, people on social media decided to remind him of the NYT’s atrocious coverage of events in India. The NYT, like much of the western press, has run a vicious campaign against India based on sheer lies and propaganda. And Indians have long been raising their voice against it, without any effect on the alleged newspaper’s coverage. Thus, when Goel made the subscription pitch, people let their anger known.

There were a lot of responses that compared the alleged newspaper to toilet paper.

The last straw for Goel’s patience was when columnist Shefali Vaidya said that she would subscribe to the alleged newspaper if Goel publicly admitted that NYT is a ‘Hindu-hating racist rag’. At that, Goel lost his calm and called people ‘trolls’ for questioning the bias of the publication he works for. He said he had ‘real work’ to do and Indians “read whatever Indian nationalist publications” that made them happy.

It appears that Goel did not like the fact that Indians showed NYT the mirror. The NYT has a history of peddling anti-India narratives, whether it be the events that transpired in the aftermath of the Balakot Airstrikes or Narendra Modi in general. In the past, it has published racist cartoons to denigrate India right after the Mangalyaan Mission. In the cartoon, a bare-footed man wearing dhoti, turban and holding a buffalo next to him is seen knocking on the doors of ‘Elite Space Club’. The failing NYT had also attempted to downplay the Pulwama Terror Attack in which over forty of our soldiers had lost their lives.

In one article, NYT claimed that as the 2019 general elections were closing in, Modi’s popularity was on a low and the “rejuvenated opposition was landing punch after punch with corruption allegations. But one bombing in Kashmir, and weeks of military brinkmanship with Pakistan afterward, appears to have interrupted Mr. Modi’s slump.” The alleged newspaper was forced to change its newspaper after outrage on social media.

The NYT has also exploited children’s deaths to malign Yogi Government’s crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh. In an op-ed about India that was centred around the CBI raids at the residences of Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, the founder promoters of NDTV, the NYT also had tried to take the similar path. The editorial was titled ‘India’s Battered Free Press’ which read like a textbook case of how it has been distorting the truth.

NYTimes’ former Delhi bureau chief Ellen Barry had also indulged in white-washing the 2002 Godhra carnage where as many as 59 people were burnt alive in a train. She had also spread lies to insult the victims of Godhra carnage in her report on the Gulbarg Society verdict. NYTimes also encourages troll-like behaviour while reporting on democratically elected public representatives by attempting to trivialise the personal lives of female politicians.

Foreign players may not be available for IPL till April 15 due to coronavirus outbreak, plea filed in SC seeking postponement

No foreign players will be available to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) till 15 April due to visa restrictions imposed by the government to contain the novel coronavirus threat, casting fresh doubts on the fate of the flagship sports event, reports ANI.

“The foreign players who play in the IPL come under the Business Visa category. As per the government’s directive, they cannot come till April 15,” said a BCCI official speaking to the PTI. This year’s edition of the IPL is scheduled to kick-off from 29 March.

Earlier in the day, the World Health Organisation had declared ‘COVID-19’ outbreak a ‘pandemic’. Following this decision, the Government of India has suspended all tourist visas and e-visas granted on or before March 11. All incoming visitors including Indian nationals are advised against non-essential travel because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, uncertainty looms over IPL due to the corona outbreak as there have been rising demands to the BCCI to either cancel or postpone this year’s IPL. This comes after major sporting events are getting cancelled globally due to coronavirus outbreak. National Basketball Association (NBA) has also suspended its season after a player tested positive for coronavirus.

A petition has also been filed seeking postponement of the Indian Premier League due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to accord urgent hearing on a plea seeking postponement of Indian Premier League. A vacation bench of justices UU Lalit and Aniruddha Bose told the petitioner that he could mention the matter for urgent listing before the regular bench on March 16 when the top court will re-open after the Holi break.

“This is not a matter which cannot wait till re-opening of the court. You can mention it before the regular court on March 16,” the Supreme Court bench said to advocate Mohan Babu Agarwal, who has filed the petition.

Agarwal told the bench that IPL 2020 is scheduled to start from March 29 but no safety measures have been declared to prevent the spread of coronavirus during the matches, which are likely to witness over 40,000 spectators.

In another incident, a spectator who had attended the women’s T-20 final between India and Australia in Melbourne on Sunday has been diagnosed with Coronavirus. Melbourne Cricket Ground management said a person who attended India-Australia Women’s T20 World Cup Final on March 8 was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Coronavirus is a deadly respiratory disease which has killed more than 4,600 and so far more than 1,26,0000 cases are reported globally, according to the World Health Organisation. The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was first reported from Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019.

In India, 52 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, the latest being two cases, one in Delhi and the other in Rajasthan. The transmission of the virus takes place when someone who is infected comes in contact with another person. According to medical experts, coughing, sneezing or even shaking hands with an infected person can cause exposure.

Delhi police have been in a relentless pursuit to arrest the violent rioters who ran amok, engaging in arson, stone-pelting and vandalism, injuring innumerable civilians and police personnel in the ensuing mayhem.

On 6th March, it was reported that the Delhi police had identified Head constable Ratan Lal’s assassin and the rioters who attacked and injured DCP Shahdara IPS Amit Sharma and Delhi police officer ACP Anuj Sharma. More than half a dozen rioters have been identified and Delhi police are now conducting raids at various places in Delhi to nab the perpetrators.

According to a report by News 18 India, the crime branch has claimed that the killer and attackers have been identified and efforts are being made to arrest them as soon as possible. As per reports, the SIT crime branch used its local surveillance, CCTV footages and information from eyewitnesses to identify these rioters.

Head constable Ratan Lal lost his life on February 24 in the riots that have ensued in Delhi timed with US President Donald Trump’s India visit. According to the autopsy report, Ratan Lal had died of a bullet injury. Earlier, it was believed that a stone took his life.

Lal belonged to Fathepur Tihwali village in Rajasthan’s Sikar district. Lal is survived by his wife and three children. The Sikar resident had joined the Delhi Police as a constable in 1998. He married a Jaipur resident in 2004.

DCP Amit Sharma was grievously injured by the Muslim mob along with another Delhi police officer ACP Anuj Sharma on February 24. Anuj Sharma was attacked and injured as he had tried to rescue DCP Amit Sharma who was brutally thrashed by Muslim mobs, led by women during the riots in the national capital. During the same incident, constable Ratan Lal was killed by the rioters as he tried to save IPS Sharma.

On February 4, videos had surfaced where a violent mob of rioters, mostly Islamists, including Burka-clad women, were seen attacking the Delhi Police officers with stones and sticks. It is believed this is the attack which injured DCP Shahdara IPS Amit Sharma and claimed the life of constable Ratan Lal.

On the day of US President Donald Trump’s visit to India, the national capital had witnessed horrific violence. The anti-CAA riots turned communal in Delhi resulting in severe violence on the streets. The anti-Hindu riots that engulfed the streets of Delhi have resulted in deaths of around 47 persons and more than 220 people sustained injuries in the violence that started on Sunday.
