Leave Kashmir if Article 370 is bad, no need to take the burden of Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti tells PM Modi

0

On Saturday, PDP president and former Chief Minister of J&K Mehbooba Mufti asked prime minister Narendra Modi to leave Kashmir if he thinks that Article 370 is bad. She was responding to PM saying that Article 370 has done maximum damage to the state.

Mehbooba Mufti said that if PM thinks Kashmir is a financial burden on the country, the state should be let go. She went on to say, “If the prime minister believes that our relationship has a foundation without Article 370 then leave Kashmir. If he thinks Kashmir is staring at bankruptcy then leave Kashmir. Why does he want to take the burden of this bankruptcy?”

PM Modi, in an interview to Aajtak, said that Article 370 and 35A have done maximum damage to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. “We set up AIIMS and IIM in Kashmir but top professors are not ready to go there because they can’t buy property there. The rents there are very high. There is no investment in J&K because investors feel they won’t get land there,” said the PM.

He added that Kashmir is facing bankruptcy, terrorists have ended tourism in the state and people do not invest here due to Article 370 and 35A. On being asked why the BJP wasn’t able to fulfil its promise of removing these articles, he said that people who talk about separation have no right to contest for the elections.

In the BJP manifesto, the party had promised to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35-A of the Indian constitution if they get back to power.

Mehbooba Mufti had claimed that she had fought with the BJP for two years in order to protect Article 370, during the PDP-BJP rule in the state. She said, “I had made it clear to Modi that if they tinker with the special status of the state then PDP will leave the government.”

Mehbooba Mufti had also accused the Congress and the NCP of attempting to reduce the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. When Congress leader Ghulam Nabi became the Chief Minister he sold state land to Amarnath board. NC founder late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah became the chief minister after signing the 1975 accord with Indira Gandhi.

Mumbai restaurant asks people to ‘think about spicy beef roast’ before voting, deletes Facebook post after public backlash

A Mumbai based restaurant, ‘Imbiss’ in Bandra had urged the voters to ‘think about that spicy beef roast garnished with pepper’ before voting tomorrow.

Imbiss, Bandra post on Facebook, now deleted

The image was posted on Facebook at 10:27 pm last night and had garnered over 635 shares and 123 comments. However, Imbiss has now deleted the post.

The image was a reference to the 2015 order by the then President of India, Dr Pranab Mukherjee which banned beef in Maharashtra. The bill banned the slaughter of all cattle with exception of water buffaloes. Apparently, the roast beef was one of their most popular items on the menu which was banned post the beef ban.

Imbiss got called out by people that the reference to ‘beef’ has hurt their religious sentiments and that this politicisation of food was uncalled for.

Delhi: Nadeem Khan arrested for posing as CRPF constable at a Delhi metro station, two Aadhaar cards recovered

0

Nadeem Khan, a youth hailing from Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested by the CISF at a Delhi Metro station on Sunday after he was caught masquerading as a CRPF jawan.

According to the reports, Nadeem Khan was intercepted at the Chandni Chowk metro station on Saturday as his activities were found to be suspicious. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) caught the Muslim youth on Saturday at about 8.22 pm. He was wearing the CRPF uniform.

“Upon enquiry, the man did not give any satisfactory reply and was not having any force ID card or any proof of being a force member,” a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official said as reported by PTI.

Shockingly, the arrested youth was caught with two Aadhaar Cards with different dates of birth, father’s name and addresses along with a mobile phone.

Reportedly, Nadeem Khan was not carrying any identity card or any proof of being a force member. He had claimed that he was a trainee at the Central Reserve Police Force training force in Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir and that he was on his way to Shamli to attend his mother’s funeral.

However, after the initial investigation, it was found that Nadeem Khan statements were untrue as there was no such trainee of the said name in that RTC. Subsequently, UP Police was also contacted and it was found that his parents are fine.

Nadeem Khan has now been handed over to Delhi Metro Rail Police Station (DMRP) Kashmere gate, to further probe the case and find out his motive.

Fact check: Mayawati lied that Narendra Modi included his caste in OBC list when he was Gujarat CM

Launching a personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati said on Saturday that Modi originally did not belong to backward caste. She alleged that when Narendra Modi was chief minister of Gujarat, he had added his caste to the list of Other Backward Class (OBC). Mayawati said that in order to derive political benefits during elections, Modi got his upper caste included in the list of OBCs.

Narendra Modi belongs to the Modh Ghanchi caste, which is listed as an OBC by the Gujarat government. And a perusal of the records shows that Mayawati clearly lying by saying that his caste was included in the list during the term of Modi as CM of the state. Records show that the Modh Ghanchi caste was classified as OBC in July 1994, much before Modi became chief minister.

On 25th July 1994, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment had added several castes to the list of OBCs, and Modh Ghanchi was one of them. This was done by issuing a resolution numbered SSP/1194/1411/A dated 25/07/1994. The relevant page of the resolution, which is in Gujarati, has been appended below.

The full resolution can be accessed here on the website of Social Justice and Empowerment department of Gujarat government.

It may be noted that reservations for OBCs were granted only during VP Singh government after the Mandal Commission report. Before that only SCs and STs were eligible for reservation. And the practice of including more castes under the OBC had started after the Mandal Commission report was accepted. Accordingly, respective states had identified OBC castes and included them in the list in the 1990s, and PM’s caste Modh Ghanchi was one of the castes to be listed as OBC in 1994 in Gujarat.

This is not the first time Modi’s OBC status was questioned by the opposition. In 2014 also Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil had alleged that Narendra Modi is a “fake OBC”. He had also claimed Modh Ghanchi caste was not in the OBC list before Modi became CM. At that time, the Gujarat government had issued a clarification saying that Modi’s caste was notified as OBC in 1994 itself.

AAP’s Atishi Marlena appeals to people to vote for goons if it helps to defeat BJP

Atishi ‘Marx-Lenin’ Marlena, the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, speaking at a meet organised by the Jamia collective, at Tikona Park, Delhi once again voiced her party’s ideologies by saying that in order to defeat BJP even if people have to vote for goons, they should not hesitate.

In the above video, Atishi could be heard saying, “hum sab ki yeh zimmedari banti hai ki humein wahan pe vote aise candidate ko, aisi party ko daalna hai, jo wahan par BJP ko hara sake. Lekin humein yeh bhi pata hai sabko ki yeh ek fact hai ki poore desh bhar mein koi aisi single party nahin hai jo BJP ko hara sake. Alag alag states mein alag alag partiyan hai jo BJP ko hara sakti hai. Jaise UP mein BJP ko sirf SP aur BSP ki coalition hara sakti hai aur koi nahin hara sakta. So if we were UP voters to humein kya karna chahiye tha? Humein apna vote jaa ke SP-BSP ke gathbandhan ko dena chahiye, chaahe unka jaisa bhi candidate ho. Humare ek jaankar hai unse baat ho rahi thi. To kehte hai humare ilake ka candidate gunda hai, main kya karu? I said abhi aankh band kar ke coalition ko daal do vote. Because this is an election jahan par BJP ko harana zaruri hai.”

It is our responsibility that we vote that candidate, that party who could defeat the BJP. But we all know that there is no single party which can take on the BJP and defeat them. So we need to vote for other state parties. Like in UP, only BSP-SP could defeat the BJP. So if we were UP voters what should we do? We should go and vote the SP-BSP candidate, no matter who is the candidate. Someone I know was telling me that my candidate is a gunda (a goon), what should I do? I said just vote for him blindly because it is more important to defeat the BJP, Atishi said.

Marlena was speaking at a talk organised by Jamia Collective. Jamia Collective is an Islamic organisation initiated in the year 2015 with a strength of merely 1577 followers on Facebook. This biased organisation which claims to be the platform of artists and intellectuals and has been a host to several self-proclaimed intellectuals like journalist Saba Naqvi and Javed Akhtar, this time chose the controversial Atishi Marlena as their guest of honour.

The credentials of this so-called youth icon and a revolutionary as claimed by the Lutyens cabal, are as dubious as her last name. Atishi, who had earlier changed her name to ‘Singh’ is back to being ‘Atishi Marlena’ in her 2019 election affidavit.

In August 2018, AAP leader Atishi Marlena had dropped her last name ‘Marlena’ from her name. It was alleged that the name was dropped because it was ‘Christian sounding’, which may not be suitable in her campaign during Lok Sabha elections. The party had denied the allegations, saying that her real surname was Singh and the Marlena surname was given by her parents, which is a combination of Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin.

Subsequent to this change, the party poster carried only her first name Atishi, and she had changed her Twitter handle from @Atishimarlena to @AtishiAAP. The name was also changed in all party records and campaigning materials and on the AAP website.

In fact, the AAP, a spent force that has been begging Congress, a party with zero MLAs in Delhi for an alliance, had clearly used Atishi as a gizmo to play on the caste and religious sentiments of the voters.

However, AAP party playing such dirty tricks to remain in the competition is not new. In fact, a former journalist turned politician Ashutosh, who quit the AAP on August 15 last year, also alleged that Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party had forced him to mention his last name when he contested 2014 Lok Sabha election from Chandni Chowk constituency in Delhi. He further said that despite the fact that he is not using his surname in the public, the party chose to include his surname, which was protested by Ashutosh. He further added that he was advised not to drop his surname as it would be difficult to win because ‘many people of his caste were voters’ in that area.

‘Historian’ Ram Guha gets it wrong, attempts to carry out ‘surgical strike’ on our intellect

Nehruvian Historian and left-wing propagandist Ramachandra Guha, who often indulges in distorting historical facts has yet again resorted to similar propaganda claiming that the world ‘surgical strikes’ was first invoked by PM Modi and the army itself did not use the term initially.

In a propaganda post written by Ramachandra Guha in controversial left-wing media The Telegraph, Guha says that it was Narendra Modi government and the propagandists were the first to the term the counter-terror operations inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir as ‘surgical strike’ and claims that the army did not itself use the term to denote it as such.

In a hurry to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ramachandra Guha indulges in creating his own facts as he does so often. However, the fact is the term surgical strikes was first invoked by the Army itself through the DGMO’s press conference on September 29, 2016, after the attacks were carried out inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir and not by Prime Minister Modi himself as accused by Guha.

Interestingly, Guha’s ideological associate controversial journalist Ravish Kumar had also carried out a debate discussing ‘Surgical strikes’ following the counter-terror operations. By this logic, ‘intellectual’ Ramachandra Guha just ended up referring to Ravish Kumar as Modi’s propagandist’.

Ramachandra Guha, a left-wing historian and a loyalist to the Nehru family is often seen as a controversial figure. Guha has been slammed frequently on social media for falsifying facts and resorting to slander against certain individuals. Ramchandra Guha, who advertises himself as a historian, has been called out various time for inaccuracies in his historical facts and his blind support for the Nehru dynasty.

In November last year, the ABVP had written a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor demanding the cancellation of Guha’s appointment for being “critical of India’s Hindu culture”. Following the embarrassment, Ramachandra Guha had himself pulled out from teaching assignment citing circumstances ‘beyond his control’.

‘Unemployed’ Kanhaiya Kumar publishes front page ads in newspapers, plagiarises BJP leader’s tagline

Despite having award-winning entitled lyricist Javed Akhtar and his wife Shabana Azmi campaign for him, CPI’s Lok Sabha 2019 candidate for Begusarai Kanhaiya Kumar was caught plagiarising BJP leader Devender Kadyan’s tagline, “Neta Nahin Beta”. Kanhaiya Kumar, who has mentioned in his affidavit that he is unemployed was found running a full-page ad on the front page of the newspaper.

CPI’s Kanhaiya Kumar’s front page ad in Jagran on April 27

Kanhaiya Kumar’s tagline ‘neta nahin beta’ is actually BJP leader Devender Kadyan’s tagline, which he has been using for at least a year now.

In fact, he even has a Facebook page with the said tagline.

Devender Kadyan’s ‘Neta Nahin Beta’ Facebook page created in April 2018

Kadyan, a BJP leader from Haryana, was earlier associated with the Congress and was also a General Secretary before he switched sides and joined the BJP earlier this year.

Ironically, Kanhaiya does not hold high regards for those who give full-page ads in newspapers.

Kanhaiya Kumar’s hypocrisy was called out by many Twitter users who called out the irony in putting out expensive ads when Kanhaiya Kumar claims he is poor and has no money to buy gas cylinder.

Meanwhile, ditched by the ‘Mahagathbandhan’, CPI has fielded Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai. The locals of Begusarai have revealed how Kanhaiya Kumar’s goons have beaten them up on his instructions after they waved black flags during his road show.

And now, despite having an ‘anti-Communist’ Javed Akhtar campaign for the self-proclaimed proud communist, Kanhaiya Kumar had to resort to not just stealing someone else’s tagline but also ended up putting out a full front page ad in newspaper he is otherwise critical of.

West Bengal: Poll officials go to CEO over TMC leader’s threats, seek his house arrest for free and fair elections

An association of poll officials have reportedly approached West Bengal’s Chief Electoral Officer requesting for stringent measures including a house arrest, against the Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal. Mondal is the TMC’s Birbhum district chief and has been reportedly threatening polling officials to ‘conduct the poll’ in TMC’s favour.

The association of polling officials have sought CEO’s help to conduct free and fair elections. The association, in a written complaint, has reportedly said there is also information of removal of central forces in case they become too active in any booths. The polling officials want the commission to ensure that Mondal is not able to communicate and influence polling process.

Earlier this month, Mondal had appealed to the Election Commission to ‘let him rig the polls‘ and ‘allow’ his people to ‘manage 500-600 votes’ per booth. Last year in September he was caught on camera telling his party workers to frame a local BJP leader in a fake ‘ganja case’. In the video, that had gone viral on social media, the TMC leader could be seen telling party workers that if they are not able to ‘control’ her, they should get her arrested. Mondal is also seen in the video telling the party workers to get the SP on the line so he can pass on the instructions.

Anubrata, like his party leader, seems to be having little regard for the law. In 2013, he had allegedly asked his partymen to throw bombs at police personnel and burn down the houses of panchayat election candidates who are contesting against TMC. during the 2016 assembly elections in the state, he was put under 24-hour police surveillance by the election commission. In 2017, he was caught in a video threatening a police DSP that unless he starts arresting CPM leaders his men will start burning houses.

The Trinamool Congress is notoriously known for electoral violence and other illegalities on the day of the elections. Last year, TMC had won 20,000 seats uncontested in West Bengal Panchayat elections amidst the allegations that the party which fielded its candidates on all rural seats, had prevented the filing of nominations by resorting to violence. The BJP had moved the Supreme Court to interfere in the matter of its party workers not being allowed to file nominations for the Panchayat elections.

Fearing serious violence and electoral irregularities in the West Bengal, the Election Commission of India decided to hold the elections in the state in seven phases starting from April 11 to May 19. The results of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be declared on May 23

Congress President Rahul Gandhi halts his speech during Azaan

While addressing a public rally in Amethi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi halted his speech when the Muslim call to prayer from a mosque, ‘Azaan’ was played.

Facing tough competition in Amethi from BJP’s Smriti Irani, Congress President has also contested the Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad, which is believed to be a ‘safe seat‘ considering Hindus are in a minority. Voting in Wayanad concluded on April 23 while Amethi will vote on May 6.

In the above video, it could be seen that Rahul Gandhi halted his speech for a few minutes and resumed it after the Azaan was over. The call to prayer, Azaan, is called by a muezzin from a mosque five times a day summoning the Muslims for the mandatory worship.

During the 2014 general elections, Rahul Gandhi’s mother and the then party president Sonia Gandhi had appealed the Muslim community to help in defeating Narendra Modi.

Sonia Gandhi had made this appeal during a meeting with Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, who is an influential Muslim leader. Before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi and other Congress leaders had met several Muslim leaders in a desperate attempt to mobilise Muslim votes for the party. The party had appealed to influential Muslim leaders to ensure that Muslim votes are not split, so that BJP can be defeated in the elections.

Not just that, Sonia Gandhi had also issued a direct appeal to Muslims in a video message, asking the community as a whole to vote for Congress. She had said that if the Hindu nationalist party BJP wins the elections, India’s core values will be ruined.

Salman Khurshid loses ground, argues with Amethi Panchayat Head over Farrukhabad development

A video of senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid where he is seen arguing with a Panchayat head from Amethi has surfaced on social media. Here, Khurshid is fuming at the Panchayat head for questioning him on the development of Farrukhabad.

“Aaj tak aap mantri rahe, vidhayak rahe, videsh mantri rahe, apke Governor rahe aur Rashtrapati rahe, Farrukhabad ki halat aap khud he dekh rahe ho (You yourself have been a Foreign Minister, even the Governor and the President have been from your Party and you can see the condition of Farrukhabad for yourself.),” the Panchayat head reminded Khurshid. To this, Khurshid responded with a constant question, “and we did nothing?”

Miffed by the Panchayat head’s questions, Khurshid asked if Modi had changed the condition of Farrukhabad during his tenure? “Baat suno to Farrukhabad ki halat to Modi ne 5 saal me bana di?” Khurshid shot back.

Panchayat Head was quick to respond, “Inhi paanch saal me kar diya? Vo 70 saal me kehte hain aap paanch saal me keh rahe ho.” (He (Modi) could have done it in these five years only? He talks about your 70 years of government and you talking about his 5 years).”

Infuriated at the stinking response of the Panchayat Head, Khurshid tauntingly asked him to give 70 years to Modi and then check what development he brings.

Khurshid could not maintain his ground for long and failed to answer the logical questions posed by the Panchayat head. He finally conceded by suggesting if the Panchayat head was not in his favour, it was better to be clear than to beat about the bush.

However, the Panchayat head remained unaffected by Khurshid’s taunts and repeatedly suggested if Khurshid had actually worked for Farrukhabad he would have pledged his relentless support.

In the past too, Khurshid had invited ire by defending Triple Talaq in the guise of a feeble excuse, “who will take care of the family if the man who gives Triple Talaq is jailed for the same”?
