Bundles of cash recovered, hawala links emerge, AgustaWestland scam suspicion, but Kamal Nath yells ‘vendetta’

Congress bigwig, Kamal Nath’s reaction to the I-T raids conducted on his aides reeks of nothing but extreme arrogance and fallaciousness that the Congress ecosystem has adhered to for all these years. Though all the facts are into public view, Kamal Nath audaciously called the IT raids conducted on his close aides a ‘political conspiracy’, saying the ‘centre won’t be successful in targeting me’.

Recently more than 300 IT Income Tax sleuths conducted raids in 50 locations connected to Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath. According to reports, searches were conducted at locations of MP Chief Minister’s OSD, Ratul Puri (Kamal Nath’s nephew), Amira Group, and Moser Baer. Searches were also conducted in Bhopal, Indore, Goa and 35 locations in Delhi.

The Income Tax Department Monday said it detected a “widespread and well-organised” racket of a collection of unaccounted cash of about Rs 281 crore during raids against close aides of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and others.

It furthered that the sleuths have recovered Rs 14.6 crore of “unaccounted” cash and seized diaries and computer files of suspect payments made between Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.

The diary which the IT department seized during these raids allegedly belonged to Deepak Puri, the chairman of Moser Baer group and brother-in-law of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, which has revealed the money trail between shell companies to convert crores of rupees into dollars using bogus bills.

The seized diary suggests that nearly Rs 242 crores were transferred to five ‘shell’ companies owned by Parasmal Lodha. A Kolkata-based company was also used for infusion of bogus capital to the tune of Rs.125 crores. Reportedly, Moser Baer group also bought shares worth Rs.250 crores through shell companies from Mauritius. The diary also reveals that Deepak Puri had allegedly collected money from various sources to get it converted into dollars through issuing bogus bills.

Moreover, The IT officials had also recovered huge cash stuffed in suitcases from a person known as Prateek Joshi from Bhopal.

Apart from this, Kamal Nath’s name had also surfaced earlier, when the Enforcement Directorate had on Thursday questioned businessman Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath in connection with the Rs 3600 crore AgustaWestland scam. On Friday, Ratul Puri was summoned for questioning a second time.

Similarly, the Enforcement Directorate had tracked down the money trail of kickbacks received by Christian Michel, the prime accused middleman in the AgustaWestland chopper scam, and it has led them to Moser Baer which is owned by Deepak Puri. It was reported that a part of the kickbacks was routed through Moser Baer which is owned by Deepak Puri.

Deepak Puri is the brother-in-law of none other than Kamal Nath. Puri is married to Nita Puri, sister of Senior Congress Leader and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath and has one son Ratul Puri. Both Nita and Ratul are part of Moser Baer.

Gandhi family loyalist and Congress veteran, Kamal Nath’s family link with AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel are now completely exposed. Earlier agencies had also established that Kamal Nath’s son Bakul Nath was harbouring and providing all help to Christian Michel who was hiding in Dubai.

Now the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made public that Kamal Nath’s nephew Ratul Puri is wanted in connection with the money trails in the AgustaWestland scam. It has also established Kamal Nath’s brother-in-law involvement in routing kickbacks in the Rs 3600 crore AgustaWestland scam. His close aides are also now in the IT department’s radar.

With all this information now in full view, one is left to wonder as to how many more dirty secrets does the Congress bigwig have up his sleeves and until when can he manage to shuffle off the burden calling it ‘political vendetta’?

Modi says that the Congress theme song “Ab Nyay Hoga” is a confession that they did Anyay for 60 years

Known for mounting blistering attacks on their political adversaries, PM Modi in an interview to the CNN News 18 went all guns blazing against his opponents in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a stinging attack against Congress, Modi alleged that Congress’ campaign slogan ‘Ab Nyay Hoga’ is a candid admission of the fact that they meted out injustices for 60 years of their rule.

Talking about the Congress’ ‘Ab Nyay Hoga’ campaign PM Modi asked, “Will the victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide, Triple Talaq victims, Farmers in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh who were promised of loan waivers within 10 days but are yet to receive it, Bhopal Gas tragedy survivors will get justice? Hundreds perished in the tragedy but your(Congress) government provided arrangements for the perpetrators to escape.”

PM Modi slammed Dynasty politics, calling it bad for the country. Modi launched a frontal attack against Rahul Gandhi asserting that the way the Congress President ran away from the Amethi, considered as a Congress bastion, is an issue that should be discussed. In a strong offensive against the Gandhi scion, PM Modi asserted that though Rahul’s advisors advised him to drop the Rafale issue, he continued his tirade against it in an attempt to wash away his father’s Bofors stains.

“The National Herald Case, cases of corruption against Lalu Prasad Yadav…these all cases were filed before BJP came to power. Whatever was put in cold storage, we thought to bring it out and let justice prevail. Both son and mother are out on bail. Criminals need bails, not honest citizens,” Modi said.

Referring to the enormous piles of cash recovered from close aides of Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, PM Modi dismissed the claims made by him and said that he could say anything to save himself. PM Modi pressed about the need to take action against the scams and their perpetrators.

PM Modi also attacked the Mahagathbandhan leaders claiming that those who were arch-enemies of one another are uniting today because they fear their fading relevance. Attacking Mayawati for her exhortations to the Muslim community to vote for her party, PM Modi asserted that Mayawati is a sinking ship who is trying to stay afloat by garnering support from Muslims.

He also took a jibe at the ‘Secular Brigade’ questioning their conspicuous silence on the appeal made by Mayawati to the Muslims.

RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma and his PSO Rajendra Kumar killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

One RSS leader and his PSO have been killed by terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma, who worked as a medical assistant, was killed while on duty. Sharma was Sah Prant Sewa Pramukh of RSS in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police sources said that terrorists barged into the Kishtwar District Hospital where Sharma worked and fired at him. Sharma was gravely injured at this attack. The terrorists also snatched the weapon from the PSO. This ensured a scuffle, and PSO of Jammu and Kashmir Police Rajendra Kumar was shot dead on the spot. Chandrakant Sharma was immediately airlifted to Government Medical College in Jammu for better treatment after the attack.

BJP Spokesperson Sunil Sethi later informed that Sharma succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Senior police officials have rushed to the scene and have started an investigation into the case. A curfew has been imposed in the area as the situation became tense after the attack. The Army is scheduled to conduct flag march later in the day. Internet services were also snapped in Kishtwar as precautionary measures.

Here is why you need to watch ‘The Tashkent Files’ by Vivek Agnihotri

All the President’s Men, JFK, The Day of the Jackal are some of the classic investigative political thriller films that come to mind. We, however, are still new to this genre on the lives, deaths, controversial incidents during the tenure of important political personalities.

Perhaps our filmmakers have avoided such subjects to remain clear of unnecessary controversy or perhaps, they didn’t think that there was an audience for such films.

If the enthusiastic applause during a private screening at select moments that truly touched a chord in the audience and the standing ovation at the end of Tashkent Files is any indication, then Vivek Rajan Agnihotri’s film has heralded in an important moment in Indian film history.

The circumstances too are unique.

Never have we been as a Nation so deeply invested in our National consciousness.

It was as if in 2014 an old blanket covering all sins, skeletons, filth, maggots & termites that were gnawing away at our innards unravelled and exposed an unimaginable horror.

Truth as we believed it – was a lie.

History as we had been taught – was only a pretty fairytale.

Elected leaders had been no less than charlatans.

The four pillars of democracy were hollowed out.

Tashkent Files is one more unravelling thread in the blanket that covered up our past.

Fast-paced, gripping and very well researched with an excellent cast that does justice to their roles. Shweta Basu Prasad, Pallavi Joshi, Pankaj Tripathi, Mithun Chakraborty, Naseeruddin Shah stay with you much after the film is over.

As the film progresses anger, shock even distress are the overwhelming feelings that one experiences.

India deserved an honest, upright Prime Minister.

Why was he done to death?

By whom?

For whom?

To know more see Tashkent Files releasing on 12 April 2019 and make a vow that our young people will not be led like sheep to the slaughterhouse, spoon-fed & fattened on half-truths as we were.

If nothing else we owe it to Lal Bahadur Shastri who was killed twice.

Once in Tashkent and then by the deliberate erasure of his memory.

The IT-industry shows a 38% rise in job creation since last year: Report

According to latest reports, the IT industry has shown continuous growth in the recruitment landscape over the past six months, recording a rise of 38 percent growth surpassing the 12 percent national average hike in hirings on a year-on-year basis from March 2018, says Naukri JobSpeak report.

The Naukri JobSpeak Index for March 2019, stood at 2,378, which is 12 percent higher in hiring activities from March 2018, which stood at 2,129. Also among all the major metro cities, Bangaluru topped the list, as it contributed 18 percent of the total recruitments.

The report reveals that industries such as IT Software, IT Hardware, BPO/ITES, FMCG have witnessed an increase in hirings in March 2019 compared to March 2018. While the IT-industry has been recording an increase from 32 percent to 38 percent, Construction and Engineering saw an increase of 13 percent, BPO/ITES by 9 percent, FMCG by 5 percent, Education by 7 percent and IT-Hardware by 3 percent.

InfoEdge India CMO Sumeet Singh said, “The JobSpeak index continues with its positive growth in hiring with a 12 percent rise when compared to the same period last year. Our latest hiring outlook survey showed 89 percent recruiters from the IT industry stating that new jobs and replacement hiring will play a strong role in hiring. Hopefully, the momentum will be sustained in the coming months.”

The Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly Index which calculates and records hiring activity based on the job listings on Naukri.com website month on month.

Further, the report revealed that the demand for mid-level executives, in the experienced band of 4-7 years, grew by 14 percent whereas recruitment for entry-level jobs, with an experienced band of 0-3 years, witnessed a rise of 12 percent.

Naukri.com, one of India’s premier job portals, had also published the findings of its Hiring Outlook survey which depicted a very bright scenario for employment opportunities in the country between January to June 2019.

Earlier too, despite much brouhaha created by the Congress over job creation, multiple sources have reiterated that around 15 million jobs were created in India by the Modi government per year.

In fact, it was also disclosed lately that CMIE, that brings out periodic Job Survey and which was instrumental in fear-mongering about ‘unemployment in India’ has a long and interesting history as it is wholly owned by Mr. Ajay Shah (and his family), the same person who also happens to be one of the main accused in a mega scam commonly known as ‘NSE Co-location’ scam and is closely linked with Congress minister P Chidambaram.

Social Media giants need to open their doors to transparency

2016 US Presidential Elections were perhaps the most poorly disciplined elections in the modern history of the global economic superpower. Both the candidates, Donald Trump, and Hillary Clinton were accused of deploying targeted social media misinformation against each other. Rumours spread so far and wild, that a false story was created accusing Clinton of being involved in child trafficking by hiding children slaves in major pizza stores across the USA. The worst part was, millions of people believed the story, complained pizza stores and some even fired guns at them. Social media’s power to influence the human mind had been established by then.

In the USA, more almost 2/3rd of the adults get their news from social media – where the boundaries between truth and rumours are hard to judge. This is a pattern anywhere in the world. India, with one of the lowest data rates and now multi-lingual mobile phones, is becoming a social media-driven nation. Increasingly, people believe news being shared on Whatsapp and other messengers without checking their sources, which in any case is a complicated task.

Social media giants did get a wake-up to post US elections including when Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and many other tech leaders were asked to appear before the US Senate and explain their policies. Facebook, the company which also owns Instagram and Whatsapp, came under the worst fire – losing 20% of value in a matter of a few days following the inquiry.

This is when the social media giants decided to control the political content and advertising in all elections around the world. India’s 2019 Lok Sabha elections became a centre-stage for this – with both Twitter and Facebook coming up with political campaign policies. But this is still a test, little more than an experiment.

With the biggest carnival of democracy around the corner, one of the biggest social media giants Facebook on Monday announced that it has taken down over 700 pages, accounts and groups from its platform as well as from its unit Instagram in India. This was their effort to control the spread of misinformation on the social media platform.

Facebook head of cybersecurity policy, Nathaniel Gleicher wrote in his blog post that 687 Facebook accounts, pages, and groups were associated with the IT cell of main Opposition party Indian National Congress (INC) while 15 such accounts, pages, and groups belonged to an Indian information and technology firm Silver Touch.

The blog post also mentioned the fact that the accounts and pages which belonged to the INC had spent about Rs. 30 lakhs and the pages associated with Silver Touch spend about twice their amount, over 50 lakhs on ads to promote their content on Facebook since 2014. But hold on. If you think this is amount is a lot, then consider that Facebook earned over Rs. 521 crores in 2018 from ads – a significant part of them being politically motivated as one can guess, though Facebook does not disclose the exact amount.

Go beyond the surface and this whole issue highlights two things.

First, the practice of using social media as a platform to spread political misinformation and rumours. 700 pages with combined users of about 28 lakhs being banned also make us question the credibility of the content which we see on social media platforms. The majority of jokes, memes, data, images, and quotations that we easily believe and share forward are coming from such paid accounts. Many of the twitter accounts one follow and trusts are often only in the name of individuals but run by a whole team of experts behind them.

The second issue raises the question of the transparency of Facebook itself. Interestingly, social media giants have little capacity within Indian borders to determine or take any action against political content but rely on US-based centralized teams to do this job. One can wonder what kind of team halfway across the world can determine content spread across Facebook (or any other social media company) runs on a model where the US-based bosses have almost total control on their operations in India – their policies, rates, content, and technology.

In such a scenario, one can question what is the mechanism by which Facebook will ban or allow content? What is the way to appeal against it? And above, what percentage of its money is Facebook making from political promotions. There are lakhs of political pages and accounts and potentially hundreds of crores Facebook is making in ad revenues from India. Merely removing 700 accounts with less than Rs. 1 crore revenue over 4 years should NOT be the end of this discussion – much more needs to be known and told by the social media firms to the public.

But it will not easy.

Technology companies are huge. Apple, the biggest in the sector, is worth about 75 lakh crore rupees while Facebook, which is no more than a computer program, is as big as 45 lakh crore rupees, almost equal to the GDP of Pakistan and Bangladesh, put together. Facebook creates this wealth with its 36,000 employees, while Pakistan and Bangladesh earn this GDP from its 36 crores population.  Can any government agency regulate such giants, especially they hardly understand the underlying facts behind them? Or should the users demand additional transparency and self-regulation? There is not one answer to this question – and the way social media plays out during the 2019 elections will be an interesting result in the global context of this debate.

Rahul Gandhi’s ANYAY: Congress edits the word ‘Gay’ in its promotional video while promoting LGBTQ rights

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, when all political parties are coming up with creative campaigns to lure voters, the grand old party-Congress came up with a shoddily made video with superimposed images Rahul Gandhi’s recently declared ‘NYAY’ scheme on the foreground and how every section of the society stands to benefit from it.

However, much like Congress’ past promises, this too turned out to be a sham. The video displays homophobic tendency of the party as they have removed the word ‘Gay’ from an image used in the video. At around 0:43 in the above Congress’ promotional video shared by Rahul Gandhi, the video displays a picture of a couple in front of an image showing few people holding a placard saying “I am here to stay…”. But now it has emerged that the photograph was taken at a protest by LGBT community, and the word ‘Gay’ was mentioned in the placard, which was digitally erased while making the video as can be seen below:-

The original image shows that the placard said, “I am Gay, here to stay, even in jail”. But the image has been disingenuously edited by the Congress party by erasing the word ‘Gay’. The image is from a 2013 demonstration march organised by the LGBT community to register their protest against the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding section 377 that overturned the lower court’s order decriminalising homosexuality. The image is credited to Hindustan Times via Getty Images.

It can be clearly seen that this same image was used to create the Congress video. However, what is truly appalling is the insensitivity displayed by Congress in photoshopping the word ‘Gay’ in their promotional video. It, perhaps, removed the word Gay from the image fearing a backlash from a certain section of its core supporters. So though in the video Congress talks about spreading love and ensuring equality for all sections of the society, in reality, the quiet removal of the word ‘Gay’ from their video exposes their inherent hypocrisy and displays their latent homophobia for the LGBTQ community.

Anti-Citizenship Amendment Bill protesters join BJP, said were provoked to protest by Congress supporters

In an interesting turn of events, the protestors who had stripped naked and staged a protest in New Delhi in January against Centre’s move to table the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and shockingly divulged that they were provoked by Congress supporters to do so.

The stir which was against the BJP for “betraying the trust of the indigenous people” to provide citizenship to “Hindu Bangladeshis” was spearheaded by activists, including Assam Scheduled Caste Yuva Parishad leader, Jadav Das and Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti’s students’ wing leaders along with many other organisations.

According to the Yuva Parishad leader, Jadav Das, the activists had been provoked to stage the naked protest against the Bill by those who “have openly supported the Congress”.

The beginning of the year was marked by a protest by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and several other organisations of Assam. Carrying placards and raising slogans, about 10 protesters had stripped themselves naked to protest the bill.

Four Rajya Sabha members of the Congress, led by APCC president Ripun Borah, also staged a protest outside the main gate of Parliament against the bill.

Carrying banners and raising slogans, the Congress MPs demanded that the bill should not be brought in Parliament.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, which was passed in the Lok Sabha on 8th January, seeks an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955, to provide citizenship to the persecuted minorities (Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, and Christians) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The bill was met with severe opposition from Assam and other political parties of North-east. It was alleged that the bill is against the interests of the people of Assam, as it will allow non-muslims from bordering countries to settle there. They have alleged that bill is in violation of the 1985 Assam Accords.

In Assam, the Congress party and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) stood against the Bill. The TMC, along with the Congress, had staged a walkout during the discussion on the Bill.

PM Modi came down hard on the misinformation on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in a public rally in Amingaon, Assam on February 10th and prior to this had urged support for the Citizenship Amendment Bill to provide persecuted minorities with a dignified life in India.

Apart from these activists, prominent regional party the Assam Gana Parishad had separated from the BJP-led state government during the protests. However, later the party was brought back to the fold as BJP and AGP entered into a pre-poll alliance for the Lok Sabha elections in Assam.

No, Shabana Azmi, ‘trolls’ didn’t ‘stoop’ to ‘communalise and polarise’, you did with your Hinduphobic comment packaged as concern for women

Leftist self-proclaimed ‘intellectual’ Shabana Azmi, who is often seen peddling pseudo-secular propaganda on social media, has again displayed her hypocrisy today.

Reacting to an infographic circulated on Social media with a quote attributed to her, Shabana stated that she had never said it.

The quote attributed to her read, “This Navratri, I pray to Allah that no Laxmi is forced to beg, no Durga is killed in the womb, no Parvati has to give a dowry, no Saraswati is deprived of an education and no Kali has to use ‘Fair and Lovely’, Inshallah.

Via Twitter

Shabana Azmi, staying true to her “liberal” credentials, blamed “trolls” for communalising and polarising an “already charged” election with a fake quote attributed to her.

However, Shabana soon discovered that social media makes lying slightly difficult. Especially when it is about one’s older Hinduphobic posts.

It was soon pointed out to her that though the quote had used the word ‘Allah’ falsely, Shabana had indeed posted something very similar on the occasion of Durga Ashtami in 2017.

Shabana had Tweeted,” This Durga Ashtami, let us pray that no Durga is aborted, no Saraswati is stopped from going to school, no Laxmi has to beg money from husband, no Parvati is sacrificed for dowry and no Kali is given a tube of fairness cream.” This was Tweeted on September 29, 2017.

Many on Twitter have pointed it out to Shabana that she had indeed posted a very similar tweet that was a veiled attack on Hindu belief disguised as women empowerment. In her 2017 tweet, Shabana had used the occasion of Durga Ashtami, one of the most important Hindu festivals, to peddle a Hinduphobic agenda, using the names of Hindu goddesses.

When she had posted the Tweet, many had pointed it out to her that she had not included the injustice and harassment faced by Muslim women and had attempted to shame Hindus for common social evils.

Though the quote attributed to Shabana on Navratri had used the words ‘Allah’ and ‘Inshallah’, which were not used by Shabana on her 2017 tweet, the rest of the words were essentially the same.

Congress says Chowkidar Chor Hain, but now boxes filled with bundles of notes recovered from them: PM Modi

Addressing an election rally in Latur in Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on various issues today.

Attacking Congress on its stand on terrorism and Jammu& Kashmir, Modi gave several examples in his speech to show how the thinking of Congress party and Pakistan are similar. Congress is saying in its manifesto that Article 370 will not be repealed at any cost. The same language is also being used by Pakistan. Congress says that they will talk with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan also repeatedly saying the same, so that India keep involved in such things. Congress is saying that the Armed Forces Special Act (AFSPA) will be removed from terrorism-hit areas, Pakistan also wants the same, so that terrorists can have a free run, the PM said. Congress has announced people who abuse the nation, who talk about tukde tukde, will be given open licence, sedition law will be repealed, Pakistan also wants this, so that people working against India can do so freely.

Attacking Congress for partition of India, Modi said that today Congress is saying that they will not remove Article 370, but if Congress had intelligence and in if 1947 they showed such courage saying we will not let the nation to be divided, this Pakistan would not have born. What Pakistan is saying, the same language is seen on the election manifesto of Congress. Criticising the alliance formed by Congress, Modi said that Congress and NCP have allied with such people who want a separate prime minister for Jammu and Kashmir, who talk about separation of Jammu and Kashmir.

PM also said that if some false statement about India is made somewhere in the world, these people grab that and tries to be in media for a few days. He said that nowadays these people are attacking him saying India didn’t shot down a fighter plane of Pakistan. How much proof you want from the Air Force of the nation, he asked. The day we attacked the terror camps, the next day spokesperson of Pakistan came on TV and said that they shot down two fighters of India. They said that two Indian pilots were in their custody, they also said that one Indian pilot has been killed. But on the same day in the evening they had to say that they shot down only one Indian plane and one Indian pilot was with them. So what happened to the second plane and the two other pilots, even small kids understand that, PM Modi said.

Referring to the Income Tax raids at several locations in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi connected to the Congress party in last two days, he said, ‘so many bundles of notes being seized, no doubt they are abusing the chowkidar, for last six months they are saying Chowkidar chor hain, but who is the real thief? From where boxes filled with bundles cash are being recovered? Who is the real thief? Who have fear of the chowkidar?’ The government in Madhya Pradesh was formed in less the six months ago, but see the mastery of these people, see the art of these people, evidence of crores of money has been found. Proofs have emerged how crores worth of black money was transferred from bungalows of big persons. Buying votes with notes have been the political culture of these people, PM Modi said referring to Congress.

Narendra Modi also specifically mentioned the incident yesterday when Ahmed Patel had arrived at the residence of AICC official SM Monin when it was being raided by the Income Tax department. He said that when a raid was going on, one royal courtier who is close the family of Congress party reached there, started to put pressure on officials to ensure that they go back and the money is not seized. He started doing dadagiri, but when cameramen started taking photos, he put a handkerchief on his face and ran away.

PM Modi said that corruption is one thing that Congress party does in full sincerity after coming to power. They don’t write about corruption in their manifesto, but the first thing they do after forming a government is, collection on money.
