In a yet another display of uncultured behaviour Karnataka Congress leader calls PM Modi “Namard”

In yet another despicable display of brazenness, a Karnataka Congress MLA from Basavakalyan in Bidar district, B Narayan Rao, while addressing a public gathering called PM Narendra Modi “Namard”.

Displaying his real turn of mind, the MLA said in Kalaburagi in Karnataka, “Those who are namard can get married but can’t have children, PM Modi can get married but can’t have children. This is not a PM who works, but a PM who lies.”

With Lok Sabha elections just a few weeks ahead, Congress, which seems to be baffled by its recent shortcomings, such as defections, internal rifts, and the break-up with its alliances in several states, is back to resorting to its old approach of inflicting PM Narendra Modi with personal attacks.

Recently, actress and Congress leader Vijaya Shanti had equated PM Modi to a terrorist. While addressing a rally in Shamshabad, Telangana Shanti said, “Everyone is scared that at what moment Modi will shoot the bomb. He looks like a terrorist. Instead of loving people, he is scaring people. It’s not the way how a PM should be.”

Shockingly, this disgraceful statement was made in the presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, but knowing his disposition it is only obvious that there was no condemnation for his side.

Similarly, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera stoked a controversy when he compared PM Modi to Islamic terrorists Maulana Masood Azhar, Osama bin Laden, Dawood Ibrahim and Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency ISI. However, Khera suffered a huge humiliation at the event as the audience immediately hooted and demanded an immediate apology from him.

In fact, Congress’ grudge against PM Modi is so strong that one of its leaders from Karnataka, TB Jayachandra, breaking all barriers of basic humanity went on to give an open call for ‘burning Modi alive’.

Somehow, these kinds of despicable political rhetorics are very common with the Congress who have become too insecure after Modi’s increasing popularity. Recently, Karnataka Congress leader Belur Gopalakrishna had shockingly called for the assassination of Prime Minister Modi.

Displaying similar rhetorics, former Uttar Pradesh MLA from the Congress party, Imran Masood, had allegedly threatened to “chop Narendra Modi into pieces” ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

In October 2018, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had issued a controversial statement comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a ‘Scorpion on a Shivling’ and claimed that PM Modi cannot be even hit with a chappal.

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had taken digs at PM Modi’s humble beginnings and called him a ‘chaiwalla’. He had also referred to Modi as ‘neech insaan’ which got him suspended from Congress.  Sanjay Nirupam, another serial abuse has often used derogatory terms to abuse PM Modi by referring to him as ‘illiterate and uncouth’.

PM Modi’s humble background has always been a point of criticism for Congress leaders. After senior Congress leader, CP Joshi’s cheap casteist slur against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the BJP, Uttar Pradesh’s Congress Chief Raj Babbar had stooped to his lowest by pulling Modi’s mother into this muck and comparing the devaluing rate of the Indian rupee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aged mother.

Delhi HC seeks Christian Michel and the CBI’s response on Tihar Jail plea challenging the order allowing him to make international calls

The Delhi High Court has sought the responses of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Christian Michel on a plea filed by Tihar authorities challenging a trial court order that allowed him to make international phone calls in violation of prison rules. A Bench of Justice Mukta Gupta issued a notice to Michel and the CBI seeking their reply on the plea.

The trial court in January this year had allowed the alleged middleman in the  VVIP Chopper Scam, Christian Michel to make international phone calls to his family, friends and lawyers for 15 minutes a week. Advocate Avi Singh, appearing for Tihar jail, argued that the prison manual provided only for 10 minutes of call per week. He said that as per January 27, 2017 circular of prison authorities, a foreign national is allowed to make calls to the country of his or her origin only. Michel has mostly been contacting his legal representatives in Italy while his country of origin is the UK.

The Tihar authorities had alleged in the plea that no facts and circumstances were considered by the trial court for granting an illegal and improper privilege of communication. The High Court has fixed the next hearing in the matter on April 22.

Earlier the court had imposed restrictions on Michel’s meetings with his lawyer during his custody with the ED after the ED said that Michel was misusing the legal access by passing chits to his lawyers asking them how to tackle questions on “Mrs Gandhi“.

Karnataka: Lab tests reveal Indira Canteen food unsafe, minister promises quality check

The Karnataka’s Indira Canteens have again been marred by controversy, as corporator Umesh Shetty has alleged that food served at the canteens are unfit for human consumption. He has reportedly based his allegations on food sample test conducted by Ramaiah advanced testing laboratory and Public health institute results which stated that food is not within satisfactory parameters.

According to a Deccan Herald report, the test was conducted on food received from Mudalapalya, Byatarayanapura, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, and Nagapura ward canteens. The sample items taken into consideration were rice, sambhar, and other dishes.

“The food given to Pourakarmikas (municipal workers) from the Indira canteen is not safe. After testing this in two laboratories, it is found there are harmful bacteria in the food which may cause various health issues.” Umesh Shetty was quoted by the report. He also appealed to the state government to intervene and take action against makers of such food.

G Parameshwara, deputy CM of Karnataka has said: “I have directed the BBMP Commissioner to check the quality of food provided in all Indira canteen in 198 wards immediately. If the food quality is found to be adulterated, we will take action against the contractors.”

The Indira canteen scheme was launched by Congress Government led by Siddharamiah in August 2017. It was inspired by the Amma Canteen of Tamil Nadu, with an intent to provide all meals of the day to needy, on subsidized prices. However, it has found itself in various controversies since its opening. Within two days of its opening of Indira Canteen in Bengaluru, reports had emerged that food at Indira Canteens was allegedly served without proper quality checks and in plastic drums.

In January 2018, the Karnataka Labor Forum had lodged a complaint with the DCP of anti-corruption bureau regarding a scam in Indira Canteen’s management. It was alleged that the government was showing heightened figures about meals served to people and thus indulging in a scam. The Anti-Corruption Bureau had filed the case against that time CM Siddaramaiah and Bangalore Development Minister KJ George, in relation to the case. In December 2018 also it was reported that money meant for the Indira Canteen Scheme was diverted to loan waiver schemes.

Priyanka Gandhi addressed a rally at Sirsa, Uttar Pradesh as part of her campaign in the state for the Congress party. In her speech, she spoke a lie that has acquired the status of folk legend among Opposition parties.


She accused Prime Minister Modi of making false promises about giving Rs. 15 lakh to people. It has been repeated over and over again by numerous political opponents of Narendra Modi for the past 5 years.

The Congress party has spoken the same lie on numerous occasions in the past. Even today, Congress President and Priyanka’s brother, Rahul Gandhi, spoke the same lie at a rally in Karnataka.


In reality, the Prime Minister never made such a promise. The comments which were twisted by the Opposition were made at a rally he had addressed at Chhattisgarh’s Kanker on the 7th of November while campaigning for the party.

While speaking about Black Money stashed abroad, Modi said rhetorically that the amount stashed abroad is so large that if the Indian government could succeed in bringing back all of that, then every citizen would get 15 lakh rupees in their account.

Modi said, “The whole world says that crooks in India deposit their money in banks abroad. Black money is hoarded abroad in banks. My brothers and sisters of Kanker, tell me, this stolen money should be brought back or not? Should we take back every penny hoarded by these crooks? Doesn’t the public have a right over this money? Should this money not be utilized for the welfare of the people? If even once, the money hoarded by these crooks in banks abroad, even if we bring only that back, every poor Indian would get free of cost Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakhs, just like that. There’s so much money.”

Quite clearly, Narendra Modi was making a rhetorical point about the amount of black money stashed abroad and was hinting towards the strict measures his government would take when it came to power. He was not actually promising to deliver 15 lakh rupees in every citizen’s account.

However, due to misrepresentation by propagandists in the media and political leaders, it has become an Urban Legend of sorts. Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi appears to have picked up some skills from her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who has acquired a stellar reputation as a liar in recent times.

Intense negotiations for seats are underway in the Bihar Mahagathbandhan as the Lok Sabha elections are moving closer. While the NDA has already announced its seats in Bihar, the grand alliance forged by the opposition parties is yet to finalise its distribution of seats. The grand alliance which was formed by the opposition parties to save democracy and the constitution is apparently finding it difficult to form a consensus on the distribution of seats.

The Left parties seem particularly dissatisfied with the distribution of seats in the grand alliance in Bihar. The Left parties which are a part of the grand alliance in Bihar are adamant on having six seats in their share. The Left is also insisting to field Kanhaiya Kumar, who is facing the charges of sedition, from Begusarai. Communist leader Satyanarayan Singh said that Kanhaiya Kumar will contest from Begusarai seat at all costs. Singh said that they have conveyed this to Congress but no discussion has been held on seats yet.

CPI General Secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya has warned the big parties of Mahagathbandhan not to take the small parties for granted and make sure that justice is done to all the parties in the alliance. Bhattacharya attacked the Congress party to mend its ways and have a discussion on serious issues. He said that it is not possible for the opposition parties to defeat BJP in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi if they contested individually. The Left parties have demanded the seats of Ara, Seevan and Jahanabad in Bihar.

It appears that the Congress party is not willing to give up its share in the seats of the alliance. According to reports, Congress is refusing to settle for less than 11 seats while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is not willing to give more than 8 seats to the Congress. The rift over the distribution of seats in Bihar could be sensed from a tweet of Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and son of Fodder scam convict Lalu Yadav.


Yadav without naming any particular party warned the grand alliance parties to keep their egos aside or the people of the country would not forgive them.

As part of campaigning for Lok Sabha elections, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra undertook a boat ride on the river Ganga from Prayagraj to Varanasi. This campaign by the sister of Congress president was an obvious media attraction, but it seems the organisers of the event forgot one crucial element in such public events, the arrangement for media.

Covering a boat ride is quite different from covering a road show or rally, and when journalists asked the party leaders how to arrange this event, they didn’t have an answer. When the boat journey was started 2 hours late, more confusion and chaos happened.

As per reports, after the Priyanka Gandhi Vadra boarded the boat near Prayagraj which was decorated for the ride, another boat came near it. Someone suggested that it was arranged for journalists, so dozens of journalists present there rushed to it. In the rush, many journalists slipped off the boat.


Congress leaders who were not accommodated in the Priyanka’s boat also boarded it, resulting in heavy overload. The boat started to sway violently and the boatman said that at least 20 men will have to get off. Ultimately, the Congress leaders got off from the boat reluctantly. But by the time all this chaos was over, Priyanka Vadra’s boat was long gone.

But that was not the end of trouble for journalists. When their boat reached middle of the river, its engine stopped. The boatman did an inspection of the situation and announced that the vessel was stuck in the sand as water level was too low in the river. The journalists were told that the boat can’t move further and they will have to go back. A new smaller boat was summoned for the stranded journalists, which came after around half an hour and took them to the river bank, their journey with Priyanka Gandhi Vatra’s Ganga Yatra being cancelled.

Reportedly, the administration was reluctant to give the go ahead for the program due to the low water problem in this time of the year, but had to relent on Congress party’s insistence. The local party leaders were visibly angry at the incident, saying that this is what happens when people prepare programmes in their drawing rooms without consulting local people.

Goa assembly speaker Dr Pramod Sawant most likely to succeed Manohar Parrikar as CM: Reports

On Sunday, four-time Goa CM and former defence minister Manohar Parrikar passed away at the age of 63, following a prolonged pancreatic ailment. The passing away of the leader had created a political vacuum in the state with BJP with its allies, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP), trying hard to find consensus on successive CM.

Last Night, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had arrived in the state and met with ministers and MLAs to pave way for the next CM, by building a consensus.

Pramod Sawant‘s name as the next CM of Goa is expected to be announced shortly.


After several rounds of talks, the BJP-led alliance in Goa has reportedly come forward with the name of Dr. Pramod Pandurang Sawant, Goa’s assembly speaker, as the face to succeed Manohar Parrikar.

Name of Pramod Sawant took a while to come out, as other names like North Goa MP Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP and state BJP President Vinay Tendulkar and state health minister Vishawajit Rane were doing rounds. BJP, according to reports, initially was deliberating on the name of Vinay Dinu Tendulkar, as there were demands from alliance not to make an incumbent MLA, the next CM of Goa.

Pramod Sawant represents Sanquelim constituency, since 2012, from Central Goa. In 2017 Goa assembly elections he had defeated Congress candidate Dharmesh Saglani, with a margin of around 2100 votes. He is an Ayurveda Practioner by profession. When CM Manohar Parikkar was bedridden, Sawant was tasked with attending public functions on his behalf.

The Goa Assembly has the full strength of 40, which has been reduced to 36 after the death of CM Manohar Parikkar and Francis D’Souza, and the resignation of two Congress MLAs. The majority mark currently at 19. Congress has 14 MLAs, followed by BJP which has 11 MLAs, and there are 3 MLAs each from GFP, MGP, and Independents, while Maharashtra-based NCP has 1 MLA.

Hotel Mumbai, a movie based on the 26/11 Terror Attacks in Mumbai by Pakistani terrorists, has been pulled off from theatres in New Zealand in the aftermath of the Christchurch Mosque shootings by a White supremacist.

In a press release, Icon Film Distribution announced the suspension of the film from all New Zealand cinemas, NZ Herald reported. “After consultation with local exhibition partners, the decision was made to suspend the film out of respect for a country in mourning,” it said.

Oscar Nominated actor Dev Patel features in what has been described as an intense documentary-style thriller which depicts the terror attack in Mumbai in “harrowing” and “haunting” detail. The movie came in at number 2 at the New Zealand weekend Box Office behind Captain Marvel. It has received glowing reviews worldwide for its realistic portrayal of events.

The movie is based on the 2009 documentary Surviving Mumbai about the Mumbai attacks in 2008. The English language movie tells the story of victims and survivors of the terror attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. It shows how the hotel staff risk their lives to keep everyone safe as people make unthinkable sacrifices to protect themselves and their families.

At least 49 people were murdered in the Christchurch Mosque Shootings which occurred on the 15th of March. The terrorist live-streamed his actions on the internet as well. The terrorist, a suspected white supremacist, was charged with murder on Saturday. He will again be produced in court on April 5 where the police said he is likely to face more charges.

China’s crackdown on Uighur Muslims: Says 13,000 arrested, 1500 terror gangs dismantled since 2014

The new policy paper by China reveals that its government had reportedly arrested 13000 terrorists from its Xinjiang province and disassembled around 1500 terror gangs since 2014. China is facing criticism for imposing objectionable security measures against the Uighur Muslim population of Xinjiang province.

The arrests were made in the restive far western region of Xinjiang province, a state with a considerable Muslim population. The announcement was made in a policy paper defending staunch ‘deradicalisation’ methods adopted by China to rein in its Uighur population. The Chinese authorities claim that they have struck the right balance between compassion and severity.

The new policy paper which is titled as “The Fight against Terrorism and Extremism and Human Rights Protection in Xinjiang” is yet another attempt by China to defend its brutal policies pursued against the Uighur Muslims. The policy paper is released by the State Council Information Office and it says, “The dignity of people belonging to various ethnic groups in Xinjiang has been crushed by the influence wielded by the separatists, religious extremists, and terrorists. The increasing number of terror attacks have adversely affected the life and property of the people.”

China is facing opprobrium from the United Nations for pursuing harsh policies against the Uighur Muslim population in Xinjiang. Damning reports blaming Beijing of interning members of its Muslim population – by “re-educating” them away from their faith have emerged. It is believed that China has resorted to this measure as a response to riots and violent attacks that the government has endured recently at the hands of Muslim separatists in the Xinjiang province. In these detention centers, Muslims are allegedly compelled to unlearn their traditions, pan their Islamic practices and extend their loyalty to Xi Jinping’s Communist Party.

However, China had refuted the allegations stating that the ‘detention centers’ are nothing but “vocational training centers” and “campuses” for imparting skills and deradicalising those influenced by extremism. With the release of this new policy paper, China seeks to assuage the growing concerns expressed by International Organisations against the unjust measures adopted by them against the vulnerable minority groups.

The Chinese authorities have stated in the paper that due to their policies implemented since 2014, 1588 violent and terrorist gangs have been dismantled, 12995 arrested and about 2052 explosive devices impounded. It also claims that 30645 people were punished for 4858 illegal religious activities and 345,229 copies of illegal religious materials were confiscated.
