Meet the Communist MPs who charge taxpayers 70 lakhs per year to fight for ‘free speech’

0

To be fair, free speech isn’t free.

In our country, ‘fighting’ for the rights of the voiceless has always been a highly lucrative occupation. For instance, our NGOs make Rs 11,000 crore a year working selflessly for the upliftment of the Indian poor.

Then, why would anybody be surprised at this?

MPs burn a hole in state's exchequer by flying business class, Left leaders top spenders

As per information provided under RTI (see here from 36:00 mins, or read here), we have here the list of top spenders of taxpayer money from the Rajya Sabha (on travel in Financial Year 2016-17):

  1. Ritabrata Banerjee (Rs 69.24 lakh) (CPM)
  2. D Raja (Rs 65.04 lakh) (CPI)
  3. Sukhendu Sekhar Ray (Rs 61.72 lakh) (TMC)
  4. Oscar Fernandes (Congress)
  5. Tiruchi Siwa (DMK)
  6. C P Narayanan (CPM)
  7. P Bhattacharya (Congress)
  8. Ananda Bhaskar Rapolu (Congress)
  9. Joy Abraham (Kerala Congress (Mani))
  10. Anil Sahani (JDU)

Oh look how wonderful! The Communist Parties who have only about 10 Rajya Sabha MPs have figured three times in the list of top 10 spenders and also bagged the top two slots!

By comparison, the BJP which has over 50 MPs in the same Rajya Sabha doesn’t make it even once in the top 10 club! In fact, the only NDA party to figure in this list is recent entrant JDU at the 10th position.

But then, unlike the Communist Parties, the leaders of the BJP do not have to crisscross the country fighting for peasants and workers. For instance, Comrade D Raja of the CPI needed as much as Rs 82000 to travel from Delhi to Chennai.

The top honor goes to Shri Ritabrata Banerjee of the CPM, who has charged the taxpayer nearly Rs 70 lakh in the last financial year for his services.

Here is the coolest part. An MP is able to claim as DA an additional amount equal to 1/4th of the price of his/her ticket. This means that if an MP purchases a ticket for Rs 10,000, he/she would get Rs 2500 extra as DA.

Instead if the MP waits for the price of the ticket to rise and finally buys the same ticket for Rs 1 lakh, he/she would get 25% or Rs 25000 extra as DA!

That’s money straight into the pocket of the MP. From the point of view of an MP, it therefore makes sense to buy as expensive an air ticket as possible. The more taxpayer money he spends, the more taxpayer money the honorable MP gets to put in his own pocket.

Hopefully, the weak and the marginalized of Indian society will be thrilled to know that Communist MPs are making their voices heard in Delhi to the tune of Rs 65-70 lakhs a year.

Let us now come to the list of top 10 spenders in the Lok Sabha during the same period:

  1. K Gopal (Rs 57.54 lakh) (AIADMK)
  2. P Kumar (Rs 44.3 lakh) (AIADMK)
  3. Bishnu Pada Ray (Rs 41.06 lakh) (BJP)
  4. Anirudh Sampat (CPM)
  5. P K Sreemathi (CPM)
  6. K C Venugopal (Congress)
  7. Hari Manjhi (BJP)
  8. Jyoti Dhurve (BJP)
  9. K V Thomas (Congress)
  10. M B Rajesh (CPM)

There are 11 Communist MPs in the Lok Sabha compared to some 280 MPs of the BJP. Yet, the CPM has held the BJP to a 3-3 draw when it comes to spending public money on flying first class.

It should also be noted that BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray who figures at No. 3 represents Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the Lok Sabha. Had the Andamans not been so far away, the CPM with its 11 MPs would probably have beaten the BJP’s 280 member Lok Sabha contingent.

A few months ago, while trying to book an air ticket online on a popular travel website, I noticed that there is actually an option to list the prices in descending order, i.e. listing the highest possible price first. I remember wondering who could possibly want the prices listed from “High to Low”.

Well, now we know! Lal Salaam, Comrade! Lal Salaam!

BJP spokesperson files defamation case against Swati Chaturvedi

0

Following the appointment of Tajinder Bagga as the BJP spokesperson in March this year, abusive troll and journalist Swati Chaturvedi had tweeted an offensive tweet on him.

Following this, Bagga had filed a criminal defamation petition against her in Patiala High Court, Delhi.

Here is a copy of the complaint.

Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava appearing on behalf of Bagga said, “Swati had tweeted a derogatory and defamatory tweet. Today, the court has allowed them (Bagga) to record his pre-summoning evidence which the court has accepted. The court has set 9th October as the date to hear their arguments. Following that, the court may issue summons to Swati as an accused.”

He further added that upon issuance of summons, and if found guilty, Chaturvedi could be punished under the Indian Penal Code.

Swati Chaturvedi’s foul-mouthedness is not new. She has previously also tweeted abusive things to people who don’t agree with her. She is also known to have filed fake stories and targeted harassment.

How left spun the narrative when its allegations started to fall flat in the Gauri Lankesh case

0

Here are some of the initial reactions from the so called liberals, minutes after the news of Gauri Lankesh’s murder began to spread:

Untitled.png

Does anybody see anything at all about trolls and social media? I only see what appear to be a fairly direct accusations of murder. One of them even says “The right wing strikes“. Not mincing any words.

Neither do I see anything about Right Wing trolls in this comment from Rahul Gandhi himself.

Untitled.png

Then, a day passed and people started to notice that the ‘secular’ ecosystem was making direct accusations of murder in a complete vacuum of evidence.

That is when the left realised its mistake and quickly decided to change the narrative. In an Orwellian sleight of hand, the left declared that their outrage had only been about right wing trolls who supposedly were saying mean things about Gauri Lankesh.

From accusing the right wing of murder to accusing the right wing of trolling! What a spectacular climbdown!

It was as if a memo had gone out and the entire left fell in line instantly. You can see “senior journalist” Ravish Kumar explain their new point of agenda at the Press Club protest meeting (from 1:15 here) :

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXx4qtnwnr4?rel=0&start=74]

Ravish says that:

Zyada reaction is baat se tha ki jaanch to hui nahin hai, hum nahin jaante ki hatya kisne ki hai, zyada reaction is baat se tha ki social media pe kis tarah ki bhasha ka istemaal hua hai”

(The investigation hasn’t happened so we don’t know who killed her, the bigger reaction was about the kind of language that has been used on social media)

Now take another look at the screenshot of early tweets from liberals on the murder of Gauri Lankesh. Read the words of Rahul Gandhi ji.  And now keep repeating in your head the words of Ravish Kumar till you can force yourself to believe them:

We don’t know who killed Gauri Lankesh, the reaction was all about the kind of language used on social media

The Orwellian term for this is “reality control”. We are now supposed to believe that no accusations of murder were thrown at the right wing.

This Orwellian circus of lies needs to be called out. The fact of the matter is that the Left wing has accused right wingers of murder and they have to give evidence in support of their claim. The burden of proof is on them.

Almost a week has passed and the Karnataka government has not been able to produce a shred of evidence that right wingers killed Gauri Lankesh. The police appears fairly silent. Could this silence be interpreted to mean that the available leads are pointing away from the conclusion that the the ecosystem wanted to see?

I’m speculating there, but if the left is entitled to speculate without any form of accountability then so should I.

What we are seeing right now is a panicked attempt by the embarrassed left to change the thrust of the story from the initial accusation of murder to studying the use of language by the 1800 odd people that the Prime Minister follows on Twitter.

Already The Wire has decided to cast an even wider net and is now checking out tweets of people followed by all Cabinet Ministers, not just Modi. One can expect that in the coming days this will be further expanded to include any person followed by BJP Chief Ministers, then BJP Ministers in the states, then BJP MPs, then BJP MLAs, mayors, corporators, heads of various morchas, cells and the list goes on…

The left wants to send us on a wild goose chase on social media because it is unable to sustain with evidence its initial accusation of murder against the Hindu right. It is up to the people to hold them accountable. An accusation of murder has been made. The Left needs to come up with the evidence or tender a grovelling apology.

Mughals were plunderers who looted our country: UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma

0

Dinesh Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh ruffled a few ‘liberal’ feathers during a Safaigiri awards organised by Aaj Tak in Lucknow. According to reports, while answering a question about Mughals, he described India’s erstwhile rulers as “plunderers” who played no role in India apart from looting its wealth.

This is what he reportedly stated:

Mughals were not our ancestors, they were actually plunderers. They looted the country. This is not our history

Mughal rulers are generally glorified in the history written from a left-leaning perspective and their actions are supposed to have contributed to ‘composite culture’ of India. In fact, even a religious bigot like Aurangzeb is ‘secularized‘ by left-leaning historians and their apologists. So this statement by the Dy CM of UP surely won’t go down well with Mughal admirers.

He also asserted that all religions would be given equal respect in the state but the Pakistani-Talibani culture won’t be tolerated. He also reportedly claimed that the UP government was planning on introducing a new syllabus in schools which would be based on Modern History.

Dinesh Sharma who in the past was twice elected as a Lucknow Mayor had also claimed that there was a huge flaw in former Vice President Hamid Ansari’s thought process after the latter had made his “fear, unease among Muslims” comment.

Incidentally not long back even Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made a similar comment on the Mughals. Yogi in May had reportedly stated that Akbar, Aurangzeb and Babar were invaders and that the problems of the country would disappear after the truth is accepted. He had in the same event also called Maharana Pratap, Guru Gobind Singh and Chhatrapati Shivaji role models.

This isn’t the only time BJP governments have tried to divert from the Mughal narrative which has been a common feature in the Indian literature since long. It was reported in August that the Maharashtra state board had removed a chapter on the Mughals from its class VII history books. This move was opposed by opposition parties like the Congress, NCP and the SP. The revised history books of the VII and IXth grade were to have a more detailed focus on the Marathas and Shivaji.

All does not seem to be well between Kumar Vishwas and Arvind Kejriwal

0

Taking potshots at Delhi Chief Minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas in an interview with Prabhat Khabar, Vishwas said, “just because I oppose (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) doesn’t mean I will go and hug Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu has encouraged corruption and dynasty politics.”

It’s worth recalling that during the 2015 Bihar Assembly Elections, anti-corruption crusader and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal had not only shared stage with Lalu, but was also seen hugging him.

In the interview, he further added that Aam Aadmi Party is also becoming like Congress, in terms of “nepotism and kitchen cabinet”. He added, “I will not let AAP become another Congress. People had chosen us as an alternative, not an opposition. Will make donation details public, end nepotism, and not have a ‘supremo culture’.”

This again seems like a dig at Kejriwal, who has mysteriously removed the details of donation money from the website and has been known for sacking ministers who do not toe the line. “If AAP also starts adopting ‘supremo culture’, then I would be very unhappy”, Vishwas said taking a jibe at Kejriwal.

On being asked how is AAP becoming Congress-ified, Vishwas made a snide remark and said, “Our 67 MLAs were elected (in Delhi) and it is our responsibility to imbibe our culture and value in them.”

Usually quick to react to everything that relates to Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal has maintained mysterious silence over the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti, AAP’s student wing, winning 50 seats in Rajasthan Students’ Union Elections which were held recently. This just shows that all is not well between the two leaders.

Let us wait and watch how this cookie crumbles.

How the left-liberals are helping professional killers in carrying out murders

0

Around 1981, at the peak of Punjab terrorism, a story was making the rounds in police and security circles about how Punjab Police was passing off even normal day to day crime as a terror incident to reduce the crime rate of the state and avoid the hard and strenuous task of investigation.

Though the story was never proven, it was believed by many including newspaper columnist Mark Tully, the correspondent of BBC in India, who mentioned about it in his book “Amritsar”.

Even many Police officers were rumoured to be taking bribes to convert a land dispute murder into a terror incident and save the murderer from suspicion and investigation. The professional criminals; kidnappers, murderers, robbers or thieves were aware of this ‘Facility’ and many used it quite often.

A similar ‘Facility’ is available to the professional killer today, in selected states. Some ‘left-liberals’ who are assorted activists and journalists are providing this facility.

The professional killers have become aware that in majority of their hits, the investigative agencies are simply not bothered about catching the perpetrators, because either the politicians or the media or activists of certain ideology take it upon themselves to investigate the murder, identify the religion or ideology of the killers, their motives, their sponsors and declare the same to public at large.

The investigation team has only one remaining task to complete; to find a suitable individual fitting to the profile, manage some witnesses, gather some evidence that can hold till the media moves on the next case; an easy task given the shorter attention span of the public and pace at which cases move in the courts.

And this awareness is leading to an understanding, among the thinkers and intellectuals of this trade; that professional assassination as a business is becoming less risk prone in India.

A criminal lawyer who handles cases of some underworld shooters also confirms this. “When a shooter knows that he would not be suspected in almost 60% of his hits, because some ‘groups’ would blame each other for the murder even before the blood oozing from the gunshots has dried, he works with renewed confidence, taking even dangerous contracts.”

He adds, “Some specific communities, some specific castes, foreign funded activists, Missionary funded NGOs, abusive activists, anarchists on rent, homosexuals, free speech liberals and feminists etc., are some of the categories that are considered easy jobs. Because if they are targets of a hit, the cacophonous ecosystem and the media might normally blame the right-wing ideology for creating a ‘threatening environment’ even if the shooter left an affidavit confessing to the crime, attested by an Oath Commissioner, along with copy of his Adhaar card for identification.”

Of course, it means that the asking price for the ‘risk free’ hits has also come down as customers are aware of lower risks involved. But basic economic principles ensure that due to reduced prices, market is seeing an expansion, pushing the demand upwards. This market expansion is leading to more job creation and many with inadequate skills are landing jobs, even those who cannot identify the business end of a 7.65mm, are getting opportunities to learn the craft and make a career.

Experts compare this phenomenon to what happened to media business in late 90s when anyone who was hanging around the corner paan-beedi shop, who was on talking terms with local street thugs and who could get access to the local politicians, was drafted as a news reporter for the television channels, even if they stuttered when asked to speak their names.

Another lawyer with the similar profile of clients took the same line of argument. “It is the path of least resistance hence everyone follows it. The police is saved from detailed investigation and public fury, the ruling politicians are very happy that no one is accusing them of neglecting the collapsing law and order, the activists are also happy that they can network better at the candle light protests and the killers are happy that they have been let off the hook, of course. It is something like Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”

However, a criminologist working with a state government provided a far deeper insight into the whole issue.

“I cannot confirm but I have heard rumors of cooperation between professional hit-men and column writers. Even if the rumors are untrue and such meeting of minds has not happened so far, it is bound to happen, as it is something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. The reasoning is simple – once the killer has understood that the easiest way to escape from focus of investigators is to ensure that the murder gets politicised and the blame is assigned to a particular ideology. How much mental stretch is it to arrive at the conclusion to hire a professional writer to write an article sowing the doubts, leaving enough indications or in some cases, even making clear declarations blaming one particular set of people? If I was in the hitman’s position I would be definitely having a few authors on my payroll.”

A retired hit-man, though reminisced about the good old days. “The excitement of the kill, the fear of being spotted, the scare of being tripped while escaping, the lingering doubt of having left some evidence; a thumb impression, a shoe mark, a torn cloth scrap, is all gone. Today’s kids have it easy, no risk of capture, no adrenaline pumping threat of Police knocking your door. They just go, shoot the target and saunter back, as if they have delivered a pizza! Now running a kirana shop offers more excitement than professional killing, because these premeditated blame campaigns have taken the charm out of being a professional killer.”

Happy days are here again for the professional killer community, courtesy of the left-liberal attempts to create an atmosphere of calumny.

In a democracy like India, Rahul Gandhi bats for dynasty

0

Rahul Gandhi likes to make his team work. He speaks his mind, whichever of it is left, and then leaves it on his team to not only clear the mess, but even defend it.

Something similar happened today. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was addressing students at University of California, Berkeley, speaking on ‘India at 70: Reflections on the Path Forward’.

India was under the British Crown till it attained independence in 1947. Following which, for major part of those 70 years, India has been governed by the Nehru-Gandhi family members representing the Indian National Congress party.

We went from monarchy to dynasty even as we called ourselves democracy. However, many people have been vocal opponents of dynasty politics and nepotism in politics. The Indian politics today is so dynamic that those who condone dynasty politics are looked down upon, even ridiculed. Even if it is the Vice President of the same Indian National Congress.

Rahul Gandhi claims that the BJP, that is the ruling party, is doing what Congress had thought of.

One wonders if things they ‘talked about’ didn’t happen in the 10 continuous years they ran the government at centre, how long would they have sat on ‘ideas’? Governance was also about implementation of ‘ideas’.

Gandhi claims to have managed to ‘break the back’ of terror by 2013 (after 9 years of being in power) and he hugged the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on this achievement.

Let me remind Mr. Gandhi about the serial blasts in Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and even the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, which took place because of lack of credibility and capability. And even then, terror attacks like the bomb blast in Hyderabad took place in February 2013 for which Yasin Bhatkal, the co-founder of Indian Mujahideen, was sentenced to death in December, 2016. Even after being in power for so long, UPA government could not contain terror attacks on Indian soil.

And the same government was also spooked by an imaginary ‘coup‘. Here is a virtual hug for Gandhi so he can cope up with the jokes.

And then comes the inevitable: will he take over the role of the President of the grand old party?

Of course, he is ready, but Congress has organisation level election. Except, dynasty trumps democracy.

Takes a dynast to defend dynasty politics. This shows that Congress condones the bourgeois mindset and favours nepotism over capability.

He then goes about discussing how Congress party makes policy decisions over dialogue, and it is very democratic in the process.

Except, even the ground reality in the hall where he was making the speech was quite different.

Seems like champions of free speech didn’t anticipate people actually exercising the right to free speech.

Meanwhile, in a while answering a question on Lok Sabha, Gandhi got the number of seats wrong. He said the number of seats in the Lower House of Parliament were 546 instead of 545. Rahul Gandhi is a 3 time Member of Parliament and his father, grandmother and great grandfather have all been Prime Ministers of India.

He then accused the Prime Minister of being the brains behind spreading ‘abuses’ about him.

But seeing his speech today, one can say that the BJP doesn’t need 1000 people behind computer to do so. One of his speech will do the trick.

Miscreants try to capture a temple built by Dalits in Bihar

0

The village of Dulam Bigha in Bihar has become home to a temple dispute between Dalit families and a few miscreants. As per a report in Dainik Jagran, this dispute is seeing no signs of stopping.

As per the report, Dalit families of the village had pooled funds in order to make a grand temple of Maa Bhagwati. All had gone well and the pran prathista or the ceremony for consecrate the idol in the temple, was scheduled on 3rd June.

But then a village strongman named Parmeshwar Yadav forcefully broke the lock of the temple two days prior to the pran prathista and placed an idol of Radha Krishna inside it. As a result, the Dalit families reached the police station to lodge a complaint. In light of the police complaint, the station chief, BDO and circle officer reached the village and locked the temple. They later called the two sides to a meeting and tried to amicably settle the matter.

In many of the meetings which consequently took place, Parmeshwar Yadav and his representatives rarely reached on time while the representatives of the Dalits used to very punctually reach the meeting venue. As a result the matter continued to remain unsolved.

The administration which has been trying to solve the matter also inspected the issue on the day of Janmashtami. Now according to the media reports, the Circle Officer of Narhat in order to find a solution, had issued a notice to the two parties, asking them to be present in the police station on 10th September.

Even after the issuance of notice, nobody from Parmeshwar Yadav’s side turned up. Now the police claims that after consulting with the SDM, a meeting would be conducted in the village so as to finally find a solution.

This lock-down has meant that the Dalit families haven’t been able to use the temple for Puja and thus are becoming increasingly angry about the whole issue.

People bash Ram Guha for playing victim after making unsubstantiated allegations

Pop-historian Ramachandra Guha was today served with a legal notice over his statements in media outfits, where he linked the Gauri Lankesh murder to the RSS and the BJP. This legal notice was served by Karunakar Khasale, the Secretary of Karnataka BJP Yuva Morcha.

According to reports, his statements in Hindustan Times and Scroll played a big role in him getting that legal notice. In an interview given to Scroll (the leftist propaganda blog), Guha reportedly had stated that:

It is very likely that her murderers came from the same Sangh Parivar from which the murderers of Dabholkar, Pansare and Kalburgi came.

The ruling dispensation in Delhi has created a climate of hate and intolerance. Their bigotry is reinforced and enhanced by jingoistic TV channels who spread a climate of hate and discord and suspicion and demonise their opponents and call them anti-nationals

It should be noted that police has not been able to identify and track killers, whom Guha conveniently links to “Sangh Parivar”. Perhaps Guha is also a part-time detective or full-time propagandist, apart from being a pop-historian.

The notice also mentioned a Hindustan Times article he had written titled, “Gauri Lankesh killing: Undermining democracy, one writer at a time”. This is an excerpt from that article which contained a similar claim:

Even if the BJP or the RSS is not directly involved in this and similar murders, there is little question that the ruling dispensation has enabled a climate of hate and suspicion that makes such targeted killings of writers and scholars possible.

Apart from now being considered defamatory, the article was also considered incomplete by some:

The Notice claimed that Guha had deliberately made such statements to bring disrepute to the BJP with an ulterior motive. It also claimed that the statements were “accusative and defamatory in nature”.

The notice asked Guha to unconditionally apologises for his statements within 3 days, otherwise civil or criminal proceedings would be initiated against him.

But rather than apologising for his statements, Guha started to play the victim card:

This ‘stance’ by Guha didn’t receive a warm reception:

HT Editor who oversaw the biased ‘hate tracker’ quits

0

Hindustan Times Editor Bobby Ghosh, who looked over the biased ‘Hate Tracker‘ has decided to move on after a stint of 14 months with the newspaper. An internal communication announcement made by Shobhana Bhartia, Chairperson and Editorial Director, HT Media Ltd., said Ghosh would be returning to New York for personal reasons. Ghosh, however, would stay on for some time to help smooth transition and complete the projects he had launched.

He had been with Hindustan Times for just 14 months during which time as many as four editions and three bureaus, including the business bureau in Delhi and Mumbai were shut down, laying off an unknown number of journalists. Last year in December, close to 15 editorial employees from both Mint and Hindustan Times were asked to put in their papers.

In January this year, as many as eight journalists and four designers were asked to resign from Hindustan Times’ Mumbai bureau on one day. It is estimated that as many as 40 people lost their jobs in HT Media in last few months.

Earlier in August, Ghosh had tweeted that an Indian diplomat had compared Ivanka Trump, daughter of the President of United States Donald Trump, to “half-wit Saudi princes”.

Many saw this unsubstantiated claim as an attempt to strain the India-US relations.
