Qureshi is wanted by the police in cases of riots and arsons in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Before his arrest, Qureshi called upon PTI workers to keep up their struggle for true freedom in the country.
“We are afraid we still do not have jurisdiction in Pakistan. But, would like to know how come you are tweeting when the internet has been shut down in your country!" the Police tweeted on Tuesday.
"I am ready to die than live under these duffers, the question is are you ready? There is no case on me. They want to put me in jail, I am ready for it," Imran Khan said in a video posted on his Twitter handle.
PTI activists took the form of an enraged mob, broke the shutter of the shop, and took Alam out. They started kicking him and beating him ruthlessly with sticks and ultimately, lynched him to death.
Various social media users were of the opinion that the sensitive statement by the person provoked the public that led to the lynching of the man, according to The Friday Times.
