The incident was discovered on Monday morning, leading villagers and Hindu organisations to block roads and demand arrests. Police deployed dog squad and fingerprint teams, while officials assured action at the archaeology protected temple.
Police action followed protests over an alleged conversion racket operating through a prayer meeting in Satlapur. The FIR names the husband-wife duo and another accused, citing coercion, inducements and pressure to change religion.
Meanwhile, Ujjain district Superintendent of Police Pradip Sharma said, “We have already detained 15–20 men found involved in the violence. CCTV footage and video clips are being scanned to identify more rioters who engaged in violence.”
The incident unfolded in Sukhla Gali, opposite the Bade Ram Mandir, where Vishwa Hindu Parishad city minister Sohail Thakur (Bundela) was standing. Ishaan Mirza and several other young men arrived and questioned him about his position. The situation escalated into an argument and then a fight.
